ISAAC BALDWIN
TUPELO, Mississippi-- Isaac Baidwin, 76, of Tupelo, Mississippi, died 
April 27, 1998, at North Mississippi Medical Center at Tupelo.
	He was born on November 11,1921, at Macon, Mississippi, a son of 
the late Edmond and Ruther Lee Williams Baldwin.
	He moved to Tupelo when he was 9 and graduated from George 
Washington Carver High School at Tupelo. He was an Army veteran of World 
War II and fought in France, England and Belgium. He was in the Army 
Corps of Engineers, stationed at Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
	He graduated from Mississippi Industrial College at Holly Springs, 
Mississippi. He was a founder and member of the Progressive Veterans 
Organization. 
	He taught and coached in Courtland, Alabama. He moved to West Amory 
High School after a year. He later coached at Hunt High School at 
Columbus, Mississippi.
	He later moved to Chicago and was a captain of security for the 
Chicago Housing Authority. He also worked a year at a school for troubled 
boys. He attended DePaul University and received , Illinois teachers 
certification. 
	He taught math and coached for the Posen-Robins School District 
for 16 years, until retiring in 1987. He was a member of Lane Chapel CME 
Church at Tupelo.
	He was preceded in death by a grandchild.
	Survivors include his wife, Ora W. Baldwin; two sons, Ian Shumpert 
and Sean Shumpert, both of Tupelo; five daughters, Connie Davis and Myrtle Baldwin, both of Columbus, Sharon Nicholson of Pine Bluff, Cheryl 
Dilworth of Amory, Mississippi and Irene Wordlaw of Chicago; seven 
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
	The funeral will be at noon Saturday at St. Paul Christian Life
Center at Tupelo with the Rev. Charles Holbrook officiating. Burial will 
be in Porter Memorial Cemetery at Tupelo by Agnew and Sons Funeral Home at Verona, Mississippi.
	Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m, today at Lane Chapel CME 
Church.
	Memorials contributions may be made to the Ike Baldwin scholarship

ERNEST McMILLER SR.
LITTLE ROCK-- Ernest Mc.Miller Sr., 57, of Pine Bluff, died April 23, 
1998, at University Hospiial here.
	He was born on October 27,1940, at Jefferson, a son of the late 
Otis and Mary McMiller. 
	He attended Samuel Vaster High School and was a farm laborer.
	Survivors include his wife Leuberta McMiller; four sons, Alvin 
McMiller of Little Rock, Maurice McMiller and Lewis McMiller both of Pine 
Bluff, and Ernest McMiller Jr. of Milwaukee; a daughter, Yvonne McMiller 
of Little Rock; three brothers, Tyree Webb of Pine Bluff, and Elvis 
McMiller and Alvin McMiller Sr., both of Moscow; a sister, Maggie B. 
Langston of Flint, Michigan; and 12 grandchildren.
	The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Marzell Baptist Church at Tamo with Melvin Ely officiating. Burial will be in Marzell Cemetery 
at Tamo. 
	Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. today at Christian Way Funeral 
Home at Pine Bluff.

LARRY CANTRELL JR.
DUMAS -- Larry Eugene Cantrell Jr., 31, of Dumas, died April 30, 1998, at 
his home. 
	He was born on April 7, 1967, at Dumas, a son of Larry Cantrell of 
Dumas.
	He was an engineer for Kirby-Inland Marine and a Baptist. 
	Other survivors include two daughters, Larryn Cantrell and Blair 
Cantrell, both of Star City; grandparents, Thelma Cantrell of Dumas, 
Bertie Lord of Monticello, and Thomas and JoAnn Hawkins of Dumas; a great-grandparent, Allie Cantrell of Dumas; two brothers, Steven Cantrell 
and William Cantrell, both of Dumas; a sister, Karen Word of Wilmar; and 
a stepmother, Sharon Cantrell of Dumas.
	The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church at 
Dumas with the Rev. Neil Bennett officiating. Burial will be in Walnut 
Lake Cemetery at Dumas by Griffin Funeral Home of Dumas.
	Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund 
Dumas or the Area Agency on Aging Hospice of Southeast Arkansas at Pine 
Bluff.

THOMAS MORMON
DERMOTT-- Thomas James Mormon, 90, of Dermott, died April 26, 1998, at 
Dermott City Nursing Home.
	Born December 13, 1908, at Darnelle, Louisiana, he was a son of 
the late Peter Mormon and Maud Coleman Mormon.
	He was an empioyee of Missouri Pacific Railroad until he retired 
in 1964. He was also an employee of Mullis Grocery. 
	He was a member of Triumph Lodge No. 296. He was an ordained 
minister and a member of McGehee Chapel M.B. Church. 
	Survivors include a daughter, Faye Marie Paris; two sons, Eddie 
Lee Mormon of Lake Charles, Louisiana and Larnell Mormon of McGehee; 
a sister, DesEsther Marshall of Danville, Illinois; and 11 grandchildren 
and six great-grandchildren.
	Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Washington 
Memorial Church of God in Christ. Burial will be in Strickland Memorial 
Lawn at Highway 4 West McGehee (Desha County).
	M. Davis Strickland Funeral Home in Dermott handled the arrangements.

CLEVELAND WALLACE
Cleveland Morris Wallace, 61, of Carthage, died April 26,1998, at 
Carthage.
	Born May 23, 1936, at Adams, Mississippi, he was a son of William 
Wallace Sr., of Natchez. and the late Viola Blowe Wallace.
	He was a member of Carthage Church of God in Christ and was a truck 
driver for Crouse Logging and Trucking.
	Other survivors include his wife, Catherine B. Berry Wallace; three 
sons, Carlton Wallace of Carthage, Clifton Wallace of Little Rock and 
Craig Wallace of Norfolk, Virginia; three brothers, William Wallace Jr. 
of Chicago, Leonard Wallace of Natchez, and Louis Wallace of Chicago; two 
sisters, Ruby Campbell of Natchez and Vera Bailey of New Orleans; and 
five grandchildren.
	Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Grove AME 
Church at Natchez with the Rev. Lloyd Bailey officiating. Burial will 
be in Grove Cemetery at Natchez by West Funeral Home in Natchez. Local 
information was provided by Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff.

FLOYD HARTON
WARREN--Floyd Harton, 74, of Warren, died April 29, 1998, at Pine Lodge 
Nursing Home. 
	Born August 24, l923, in Bradley County, he was a son of the late 
Will J. and Bessie Lee Rawls Harton.
	He was a retired logger and Potlatch Corporation employee, and was 
a member of Fairview Freewill Baptist Church. 
	He was preceded in death by three brothers, Leroy Harton, Hermon 
"Pot" Harton, and Billy Harton.
	Survivors inlcude his wife, Pearl Great House Harton whom he 
married December 26, 1943; two sons, Kenneth Harton and Rodger Harton, 
both of Warren; a daughter, Debbie Redden of Warren; four brothers, 
Curtis Harton, Jimmy Harton, James Harton and Renious Harton, all of 
Warren; a half sister, Arbelle French of Rowell; six grandchildren; and a 
great-grandchild.
	Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Frazer's Funeral 
Home with the Revs. Max Williams and Hurley Ashcraft officiating. Burial 
will be in Oakland Cemetery.

ADOLPHUS KING JR.
McGEHEE-- Adolphus King Jr., 94, of McGehee, died April 25,1998, at 
McGehee-Desha County Hospital.
	He was born on February 13, 1904, at McGehee, a son of the late 
Adolphus King Sr. and Loraine Daniels King.
	He was a self-employed farmer and a member of Little Mount Olive 
Baptist Church at McGehee. 
	Survivors include four sons, Matthew King of Lawton, Oklahoma, Lee 
Edward King and Albert King, both of Fort Worth, Texas, and Anderson J. 
King Sr. of McGehee; six daughters, Mabel McClendon of Detroit, Nellie 
Munerlyn, Gloria Sewell and Dorthy Wickware, all of Flint, Michigan, Eula 
McGehee of Pine Bluff and Ethel Jones of Compton, California; a brother, 
Gennus King Sr. of McGehee; a sister Gladys Fitzhugh of Cincinnati; 44 
grandchildren; 90 great-grandchildren; and 31 great-great-grandchildren.
	The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Little Mount Olive 
Baptist Church with the Rev. George Wine officiating. Burial will be in 
Strickland Memorial Lawn Cemetery at McGehee by M. Davis Strickland 
Funeral Home at Dermott.

PANZY DAVIS
WARREN-- Panzy Davis, 87, of Banks, died April 26,1998, at Bradley County 
Medical Center at Warren.
	Born March 3, 1911 at Banks, she was a daughter of the late Jessie 
and Alice Hall Green Belin. 
	She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church at 
Banks.
	She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Davis.
	Survivors include three sons, Willie R. Davis and Bobby Joe Davis, 
both of Banks, and Vernell Davis of Warren; two daughters, Rita Davis and 
Joyce McQueen, both of Milwaukee; and a brother Willie Hayes Belin of 
Banks. 
	Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Pleasant 
Hill Baptist Church at Banks. Burial will be at Hall Cemetery by Frazer's 
Funeral Home of Warren.

BILLY E. MATKIN
FORDYCE--Billy E. Matkin, 63, of Fordyce, died April 30, 1998, at Dallas 
County Hospital. 
	Born May 20, 1934, at Calhoun County, he was a son of Doyle Matkin 
and Helen Martindale Matkin.
	He was a Baptist and veteran of the Air Force.
	He was preceded in death by a sister, Elnor Hickerson.
	Survivors include his wife, Ruby Waltz Matkin; a son, Steve Matkin 
of Fordyce; two daughters, Diana Soler of Pine Valley, California, and 
Tammy Owens of Fordyce; two sisters, Dorothy Gion of Pine Bluff and 
Vivian Inman of Altheimer; and five grandchildren. 
	Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Benton Funeral 
Home with the Rev. Lewis Langley officiating. Burial will be at Ebenezer 
Cemetery near Fordyce.

CAMDEN--Josephine Annette McCarty, 81, of Camden, died April 30, 1998, at 
Camden.
	She was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church at Camden.
	She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow McCarty.
	Survivors include two sons, Robert McCarty of Oshawa, Ontario, and 
George Woodrow McCarty of Pine Bluff; four grandchildren; and a great-
grandchild.
	Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Park 
Cemetery at Camden with the Rev. Roger Armstrong officiating. 
	The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at Proctor 
Funeral Home at Camden.

Kenneth McCarver, 79, of Okolona, died April 29, 1998, at Jefferson 
Regional Medical Center.
	He was a retired construction worker and a Methodist.
	He was preceded in death by a daughter, Elaine McCarver. 
	Survivors include his wife, Ruby Spradlin McCarver; a grandchild; 
and two great-grandchildren. 
	Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Smyrna Cemetery by 
Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home of Arkadelphia.

ONYX RUSSELL
Onyx Burke Russell, 95, of Pine Bluff, died April 30, 1998, at Davis Life 
Care Center.
	She was born August 31,1902, in the Bethel community (Pike County), 
daughter of the late William Parham and Eva Willis Burke.
	She was raised and received her early education in Pike County, 
graduating from high school at Glenwood. She attended what is now 
Southern Arkansas University at Magnolia.
	She and her husband moved to Pine Bluff in 1942. She was a 
homemaker, a seamstress and a member of First Baptist Church.
	She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hamilton Russell, 
whom she married August 3, 1924, at Glenwood, and who died November 15, 
1974, at Pine Bluff; a son, Robert B. "Bob" Russell; two brothers, D.W. 
Burke and Pete Burke; and two sisters, Floy Burke Black and Frankie Lee 
Burke.
	Survivors include a daughter, Imogene R. Wilmoth of Lepanto; a 
brother, John Burke of Glenwood; a sister, Dick Ethridge of Wynne; seven 
grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
	The funeral is scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Bethel Missionary 
Baptist Church near Glenwood with the Rev. Wayne Cooper officiating. 
Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery in Pike County by Ralph Robinson & Son 
Funeral Directors.

CARL RUNNELS
Carl Ray Runnels , 59, of Pine Bluff, died April 30, 1998, at Jefferson 
Regional Medical Center.
	He was bom on April l5, l939, at Tulsa, a son of the late Anderson 
Runnels and Mable Marie Webb Runnels.
	He was a construction foreman for the Civil Service and an Army 
veteran of the Vietnam War. He received the Bronze Star and a Good 
Conduct Medal. He attended Sulphur Springs Baptist Church.
	He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
	Survivors include his wife, Doley F. Pemberton Runnels, whom he 
married on June 12, 1970; a daughter, Frances Victoria Foster of Austin; 
a brother, Bill Runnels of Hulbert, Oklahoma; three sisters, Ann Smith of 
Muskogee, Oklahoma, Jean Hobbs of Oklahoma City and Helen Bailey of 
Wagoner, Oklahoma; and a grandchild.
	A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Sulphur Springs 
Baptist Church. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Griffin Funeral 
Home of Dumas with Bill Hale and Billy West officiating. Burial will be 
in Dark Corner Cemetery at Gould.
	Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Griffin Funeral Home.

ELIZABETH COPELAND
LITTLE ROCK - Elizabeth Copeland, 88, of Little died May 2, 1998, at her 
home.
	She was born October 18, 1909, the daughter of the late Exa Faver 
Watson Matthews and Robert Lee Watson and the step-daughter of the late 
H.W. Matthews.
	She was educated in England Public Schools, attended Hendrix 
College and received her B.A. degree from the University of Central 
Arkansas both at Conway in1931. She taught at Fairview School at Camden 
and at Hall High School.
	She was a member of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church, where 
she was a member of the administrative board and a life member and former 
president of United Methodist Women. She was former president of the Rudd 
Sunday School class and former superintendent of the Children's and Youth 
Division of the church school.
	She started the sewing circle at the church which made day dresses
and caps for newborns at UAMS and was founding member of the Criterion 
Study Club and Pulaski Heights Mother's Club, and a volunteer at the 
American Red Cross Blood Bank for over 10 years.
	Survivors include a son, Ed Copeland of Pine Bluff and a daughter 
Betty Copeland Meyer of Little Rock; five grandchildren, two step 
grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and four step great-grand- 
children; and a special friend. 
	Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m at Pulaski Heights United 
Methodist Church with the Revs. Vic Nixon, Betsy Bauer and Lynn Lindsey 
officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park by Ruebel 
Funeral Home of Little Rock.

LORELLA GARNER
LITTLE ROCK - Lorella Elizabeth Gray Clement Garner, 78, of Pine Bluff, 
died May 1, 1998, at Baptist Medical Center at Little Rock.
	She was born October 2, 1919, at Pine Bluff, the daughter of the 
late Burley A. Gray and Laura V. Ragsdale Gray.
	She was reared and received her education in the Pine Bluff area. 
She graduated from Grapevine High School.
	She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Pine Bluff chapter. 
She was also a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, where she served as 
secretary of Ruth Sunday School Class and as a Sunday School teacher. She 
was a member of the American Business Women's Association and the AARP. 
She was also a member of the Ukulele Strumming Seniors. 
	She retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as a data 
processor in 1979 with 35 years of service. She loved to read, to be 
organized, her family, family get-togethers, and her church. 
	She was preceded in death by two husbands, Herbert A. CIement and 
Clarence W. Garner; three brothers, Leon Gray, Hollis Gray and George 
Gray; and a sister, Genie Wayman.
	She is survived by two daughters, Laura Nichols and Betty Bates, 
both of Pine Bluff; four sisters, Lucille Steed, Zelma Marshall and 
Dorothy Noyes, all of Pine Bluff, and Frances De La Vaga of Coppell,
Texas; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
	Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Ralph Robinson 
and Son's at Pine Bluff with the Revs. John Brock and Jeff Alford 
officiating. Burial will be in Lee Cemetery.
	The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions 
to Immanuel Baptist Church of Pine Bluff or Lee Cemetery.

RALPH ALFORD
Ralph Alford, 73, of New Edinburg (Cleveland County), died May 1, 1998, 
at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
	He was born March 11, 1925 at Bradley County, a son of the late 
Willie Alford and Annie Mae Scroggins Alford.
	He was a World War II veteran of the Navy and a member of the 
Emmaus Baptist Church. He was the owner and operator of Bill and Ralph's 
Poultry Company. 
	He was preceded in death by a brother, Charlie Alford.
	He is survived by his wife, Annette Parnell Alford, whom he married 
in Bradley County in i946; a son, Gary Alford of New Edinburg; a 
daughter, Donna Szentivanyi of Bossier City, Louisiana; a brother, Lee 
Roy Rodgers of Arkadelphia; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
	Funeral services will be held at 4 p. m. today at Frazer's Funeral 
Home in Warren. Burial will be in Moseley Cemetery near Warren.

Funeral services for Gladys Tatum, 82, of Pinebergen, who died April 30, 
1998 will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Zion Baptist Church (Faith 
Community).
	The Rev. Curlee Mays will officiate and burial will be in Mount 
Zion Cemetery by Henson Mortuary of Pine Bluff. Visitation be Monday from 
6 to 7 p.m. at the mortuary.
	Born February 22, 1916, she was ab daughter of the late Joe Polar 
and Catherine Gaskin Polar.
	Survivors include three sons, Lee Artis Tatum of Kansas City, 
Missouri, Albert Tatum of Minneapolis, and Joe Tatum of Pine Bluff; five 
daughters, Savannah Jackson, Ceola Branch, Earnestine Bearden, Mae Boyd 
and Betty Robinson, all of Milwaukee; a brother, Joe Polar Jr. of Flint, 
Michigan; three sisters, Annie Porter of Orlando, Florida, Clothea Mason 
of Camden and Willie Hall of Lou Ann (Ouachita County); 38 grand- children; 57 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

FLOY NIXON
HERMITAGE-- Floy lvey Nixon, 97, of Hermitage (Bradley County), died May 
1, 1998, at Pine Lodge Nursing Home.
	She was born March 2, 1901, at Bradley County, a daughter of the 
late Sam Ivey and Susan Estelle McClain Ivey.
	She was a member of the Hermitage Baptist Church and a seamstress. 
She married Earnest Beard Nixon on February 2, 1919, who preceded her in 
death March 3, 1986.
	She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Howard Ivey, 
Bratton Ivey and Sam Ivey; a sister, Lulla Ivey Ferguson and three half 
sisters, Ovenia Hickman, Marie Ivey Higerbothom and Corenth Ivey 
Williams.
	She is survived by a son, Wallace Nixon of Hermitage; a daughter 
Estelle Hosman of Pine Bluff; two grandchildren and four great-
grandchildren.
	Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Frazer's Funeral 
Home of Warren. Burial will be in Holly Springs Cemetery at Hermitage.

MABEL NEWBELL
Mabel Busby Newbell, 96, of Pine Bluff, died May 2, 1998,at Davis Life 
Care Center.
	She was born May 20, 1901, at Artesia, Mississippi, the daughter 
of the late Orlando S. Busby and Millnie MacKay Busby.
	She received her education in Mississippi and Alabama and moved 
to Pine Bluff in 1925 from Mobil, Alabama. She was a homemaker who 
enjoyed arts and crafts and was a life member of Jefferson Regional 
Medical Center Auxillary.
	She was a member of First Baptist Church, the Women's 
Missionary Union, the Friendship Sunday School CIass and Union Chapter 
No. 40 of the Order of the Eastern Star.
	She was preceded in death by her husband John M. Newbell, who 
died May 15, 1981.
	She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Newbell of Pine Bluff; 
a sister, Lucille Coggin of Mobile, Alabama; a brother, F.E. Busby of
Dothan, Alabama.
	Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the chapel 
of Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Directors with Dr. John McClanahan 
and Rev. Gordon Topping officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.

EDD STANSELL
Edd Stansell, 98, of Pine Bluff, died May 2, 1998, at Arkansas Convalescent 
Center. 
	He was born September 9, 1899, at Rockdale County, Georgia, the
son of the late J.F. Stansell and Mary Long Stansell.
	He was reared and educated in Rockdale County and resided in North 
and South Carolina, where he was in the cleaning and restaurant business 
for many years.
	While living in Florida, he was a master spotter for the cleaning
business and following his retirement, he lived in Alabama until moving to 
Arkansas in 1979. 
	He is survived by his wife, Lucille Stansell of Pine Bluff, a son, 
Lee Roy Coleman Jr. of Keithville, Louisiana; two daughters, Pauline Stansell 
of Spencer, Oklahoma, and Jo Ann Ragheb of Baton Rouge; three stepsons,

Jack Clarence Pearce, 78, of Pine Bluff, died April 30, 1998, at Jefferson 
Regional Medical Center.
	He was born November 30, 1919 at Mount Bayou, Mississippi, the son 
of the late Levy Pearce and Carrie Harrison Pearce.
	He was a self-employed painter and a member of Dollarway Baptist 
Church.
	He was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy James Pearce, and a 
sister, Tillie Pearce.
	He is survived by his wife, Birdie Harrison Pearce of Pine Bluff; 
two sons, Levy Pearce and Meshick Pearce; two daughters, Sophia Harrison 
and Marie Granite; three brothers, Henry Pearce, Adam Pearce, and 
Josh Pearce; six sisters, Birdie Harrison, Mamie Cooper, Sophia Harrison,
Molly Pearce, Teresa Till and Lucy Granite all from Pine Bluff.
	Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Cranford Funeral 
Home of White Hall with the Revs. Eddie Harrison and Bobby Spencer

Place Nursing Center at Warren.
	She was born February 17, 1921, at Jersey (Bradley County), the
daughter of the late Daniel Jones and Elica Jones.
	Survivors include two sons, Leauthrice Jones of Landcaster, 
California and Jerry Wimberly of Los Angeles; four daughters,
Sandra Brown of Warren, Willard Faye Childs of Jacksonville, Florida, 
Gloria Blair of Goldbor, California, Murdie Douglas of Los Angeles; 
two sisters, Myrtis Broughton and Jewel Belin both of Jersey, 15

died May 2, 1998, at his home.	
	Born June 13, 1916, at Oxford, Mississippi, he was a son of the late 
Joseph Edward Bray and Emma Lee Watson.
	He was a member of Calvery Baptist Church at Coffeeville and a retired 
security guard of Emerson Electric. 
	He was preceded in death by a daughter, Maye Brigance and a son, 
Joseph McDonald Bray. 
	Survivors include his wife, Beulah Mae Koonce Bray; two sons, Bill 
Bray of Grenada, Mississippi, and Glenn Bray of Pine Bluff; two daughters, 
Sara Johnson of Coffeeville and Vera Ennis of Grenada; a sister, Willie Lee 
Alderson of Grenada; 21 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 
two great-great-grandchildren
	Funeral services were Monday at Calvery Baptist Church of Coffeeville 
with Donnie Bain and Frank Mixon officiating. Burial was in Cambridge 
Cemetery in Lafayette County by Browning Funeral Home at Water Valley,

Doris Ann Robbins, 63, of Pine Bluff, died May 3, l998, at her residence.
	She was born April 14, 1935, at Chicago, a daughter of Dorothy Carlson 
Blohm of Franklin Park, Illinois, and the late William H. Blohm.
	She graduated from Leyden High School at Chicago and attended a 
business college in Illinois. She moved to Pine Bluff in 1966 from 
Bensenville, Illinois. 
	She was an active member of the Ladies Auxillary of the local 
Veterans of Foreign Wars, a Red Cross volunteer, and a member of the Pine 
Bluff Bowling League. 
	Other survivors include her husband, Walter C. Robbins, whom 
she married on July 5, 1958 at Bensenville; two sons, Jeff W. Robbins and 
Scott Walter Robbins, both of Pine Bluff; a daughter, Vicki Ann Grimes of 
Pine Bluff; a brother, David Allen Blohm of Bloomingdale, Illinois; 
a sister, Margaret Helen Vetrovec of Glen Ellyn, Illinois; and five 
grandchildren.
	A memorial service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel 
of RaIph Robinson & Son Directors with Rev. Dan Loomis officiating. Private 
inturnment will take place later. 
	Visitation will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the 
funeral home.

 Vivian Davison Hay Dew, 77, of Pine Bluff, died May 3, 1998, at Trinity 
Medical Center. 
	Born August 13, 1920, she was a daughter of the late James Oscar and 
Birdie Ruth Wright Davison. 
	She was reared and received her early education at Pine Bluff,
graduating from White Hall High School in 1938.
	She was co-owner of the Cotton Belt Lunch Room from 1953 to 1969 
then co-owner of Southern Pancake House from 1970-71. 
	She was a member of First Baptist Church where she was superintendent 
of the seven-year-old primary department and a teacher in the junior 
department. 
	Her first husband, Henderson H. Hay, preceded her in death in 1981. 
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Conley Davison.
	Survivors include her husband, Robert E. Dew, whom she married in 
1993; a son, Harrell H. Hay of Pine Bluff; a daughter, Beverly Hay 
Hughes of Summerville, South Carolina; two brothers, Franklin Davison of 
Pine Bluff and Carlton Davison of Kennesaw, Georgia; a sister, 
Verlon D. McClain of Pine Bluff; three grandchildren; and four great-
grandchildren.
	Funeral services are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. today at the chapel of 
Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors with the Rev. Gordon Topping and 
Dr. John H. McClanahan officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Thomas "Bud" Watson, 89, of Pine Bluff, died May 4, 1998, at Jefferson 
Regional Medical Center.
	Born June 29, 1908, at Sulphur Springs, he was a son of the late 
Benjamin Watson and Margaret Poynter Watson.
	He worked as a carpenter. He attended Sulphur Springs United 
Methodist Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II and served 
in the South Pacific. 
	He was also a member of the Fox Hunters Association and an avid fox 
hunter.
	He was preceded in death by two brothers, Selby S. Watson and Wesley 
Watson; and two sisters, Winnie Divine and Nannie Mae McDonald.
	Survivors include three brothers, Bennie Watson, Kirby M. Watson 
and David Watson, all of Pine Bluff.
	Graveside services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. today at Fitzhugh 
Cemetery with the Rev. Dale Gentry and Paul Draper officiating.

GOODRICH, Michigan--William Glover Jr., 74, of Flint, Michigan, died 
April 19, 1998, at Genesys Hospice Care Center at Goodrich.
	He was born on July 17, 1923, at Pine Bluff, a son of the late 
William GIover Sr. and Roberta Johnson Glover.
	He had resided at Flint since 1952. He was a member of True Light 
Missionary Baptist Church of Flint and served in the Army. He retired in 
1981 from General Motors Corporation and was a member of United Auto 
Workers No. 599.
	He was preceded in death by a son, Ledget Glover; and a sister, 
Dorothy Butler.
	Survivors include his wife, Ruthie May Brown-Glover; four sons 
William Glover, Jeffrey Glover, Reginald Glover and Jamelle Glover, 
addressess unavailable; two brothers, Raymond Glover of Dallas and 
James Glover of Pine Bluff; five sisters, Ozell Hicks and Beatrice 
Glover, both of Dallas, and Vester Glover Pridgeon, Ruby J. Glover-Jones 
and Earslene Glover Scott, all of Pine Bluff; and five grandchildren.

NORTH LITTLE ROCK--Harold H. Taylor, 65, of North Little Rock, died May 4, 
1998, at North Little Rock.
	Born October 29, 1932, at Grapevine, he was a son of the late 
Arthur and Anna Lybrand Taylor. 
	He retired March 30, 1998, from J.A. Riggs Tractor Company/ CEPCO, 
Inc., after 44 years. He began with Riggs, in 1954 as field service mechanic. 
He then moved up to salesman, forest products representative, sales engineer, 
vice president and general manager of CEPCO, Inc.
	He was an avid golfer, fisherman, hunter and enjoyed being a grandfather. 
He was a member of Western Hills Country Club and served in the Army.
	He was preceded in death by a brother, Elbert Martin Taylor. 
	Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane Kelly Taylor; two daughters, 
Roxann Taylor of Little Rock and Suzann Byers of Longview, Texas; two 
brothers, David Taylor of Little Rock and Lyndell Taylor of Grapevine; a 
sister, Nell Swilling of Pine Bluff; and two grandchildren. 
	Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. today at Buie Funeral

	She was a retired waitress and a Baptist.

Louis W. Hamilton, 70, of Pine Bluff, died May 5, 1998, at the Jefferson 
Regional Medical Center.
	Born on December 24, 1927 at Elmo, Missouri, he was a son of the 
late Walter Roy Hamilton and Gertrude Lee Duvall Hamilton. 
	He attended school in Pine Bluff. He served in the Navy during 
World War II and also served during the Korean conflict. 
	He worked at the Pine Bluff Arsenal for 38 years before retiring 
in 1989 as an entomologist. 
	He was an active member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church 
where he served on the board of trustees and was a member of the Methodist 
Men.
	He was preceded in death by a brother, James Hamilton; two 
sisters, Jean Ryan and Jeanette Thrower, and a half sister, Martha 
Yinson.
	Survivors include his wife, Katherine Youngblood Hamilton, whom 
he married June 29, 1951, at Pine Bluff; four sons, Randy L. Hamilton of 
Jefferson, Bruce Wayne Hamilton of Little Rock, and Steven Lee Hamilton 
and Mark W. Hamilton, both of Pine Bluff; a daughter, Leesa K. 
Simpson of Pine Bluff; four brothers, Ray Hamilton of Chula Vista, 
California, Ira Hamilton of Pine Bluff, Leonard Hamilton of Pine Bluff 
and Walter Hamilton of Hot Springs; a sister, Pat Grimes of Pine Bluff; 
and eight grandchildren.

	He was born December 29, 1899, a son of Josiah Prickett and Florence 
Bryan Prickett. He was a member of the Harmony Hunting Club near Pine Bluff 
and former member of the First Methodist Church at Pine Bluff.
	He had been an employee of the Missouri Pacific Railroad for 51 years 
and one month.
	He was a member of the Boeuf Piairie Methodist Church at Fort 
Necessity, Louisiana.
	Survivors include his wife of 74 years, Hazel Elizabeth Prickett; 
two sons, William F. Prickett of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, and Robert J. 
Prickett of Santa Fe, New Mexico; a brother; Joseph L. Prickett of Fort 
Necessity; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

	She was a homemaker and was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church.
	She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Allen.

Mississippi, Joan Beegle of Lake Village and Barbara Wargo of Watson; a 
sister, Mattie Hunt of Mansfield, Louisiana; six grandchildren; and three

SHREVEPORT--Lillian R. Murray, 71, of Bossier City, Louisiana, died May 1, 
1998, at Willis Knighten Hospital at Shreveport.
	Born February 24, 1927, at Pine Bluff, she was a daughter of the 
late Clara and Charles McGee. 
	She was a homemaker and worked many years as a volunteer at St. Jude 
Catholic Church. She was a recipient of the Catholic Diocesan Medal in 
1977, and the Pro Ecclesia Papal Medal in 1991.
	She was preceded in death by her husband, William Kirby Murray to 
whom she was married for 43 years. He died in I993. 
	Survivors include two daughters, Marsha L. Murray of Bossier City 
and E. CIaire Murray of Dallas; four sons, William R. "B'' Murray of 
Benton Louisiana, Timothy H. Murray and Mark Murray, both of Houston and 
Michael Murray of Bossier City; three sisters, Bea Cicero of Pine Bluff, 
Martha Templeton of Dallas and Marabeth Zeagler of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; 
four brothers, Brown L. McGee of Springfield, Missouri, James H. McGee of 
Orlando, Florida, Charles McGee of Star City, Arkansas, and Louis McGee of 
Lorain, Ohio; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
	A funeral mass was held May 4, 1998, at St. Jude Catholic Church at 
Bossier City with the Revs. Phillip Michiels and Dan Gonzalez of Gilmer, 
Texas, officiating. Her body was donated to the Louisiana State University 
Medical Center at Shreveport.

and was a Baptist.

	She was a homemaker and a member of the Busy Bee Circle, National 
Association of Negro Women's Club and the Charmettes Social Club. She 
was a member of the New Town Baptist Church and missionary society. 	
	Survivors include her husband, James Shannon; six sons, James 
Shannon Jr. of Hartford, Connecticut, Cecil Shannon, John Shannon and 
Leon Shannon, all of Pine Bluff, Robert Shannon of Bloomfield, Connecticut, 
and Thomas Shannon of Dallas; two daughters, Sandra Neal of Windsor, 
Connecticut, and Sheila Spiller of Dallas; a brother, Silas Jenkins

Willie Tucker and Jenny Bell Tucker Ballew.
	She was a homemaker. She attended Harmony Missionary Baptist Church 
where she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. 
	She was preceded in death by her husband John F. McCoskey, who died 
May 4, 1997. They were married August 27, 1932.
	She was also preceded in death by a son, Willie Charles McCoskey; 
a stepfather, J.B. Ballew; and six brothers.
	Survivors include three sons, Donnie McCoskey of Monticello, Jimmy 
McCoskey of Pine Bluff and Jerry McCoskey of Ashdown; two daughters, Patsy 
Jacks of Pine Bluff and Kimberly Ione McCoskey of Little Rock; two sisters,

	She was a domestic, factory worker and laundry attendant in Chicago. 
On retiring she returned to Gould where she enjoyed going to church,

	Born November 3, 1941, at Sherrill, he was the son of Alf 
Davis Sr. and Annie Mae Reed Davis.

daughter, Kimberly Davis of Kansas City, Kansas; a son Jeffery Davis 
of Oakland, California; three stepsons, Jimmie Mahan and Steven Moore, 
both of Pine Bluff, and Kelth Whitlow of Moss Point, Mississippi; a 
stepdaughter, Evette Price of Pine Bluff; four sisters, Queen Ester 
EIlison and Shirley Wilborn, both of Kansas City, and Pearly Davis 
and Lavern Davis, both of Chicago; and a grandchild.
	Funeral services will be held at, 11 a.m. Saturday at the Henson 
Mortuary with the Rev. Alfreda Frazier officiating. Burial will be 
in Forest Lawn Memorial Garden.

DETROIT -- King Willie Smith Jr., 70, of Detroit, died April 30, 1998, 
at the Harper Hospital in Detroit.
	Born September 29, 1927, in Birmingham, Alabama, he was a son of 
the late King Willie Smith Sr. and Beatrice Smith.
	He was a machine operator with the Budd Auto Corp. and was of the 
Church of God in Christ faith. 
	Survivors include his wife, Odester Graham Smith of Pine Bluff; 
seven sons, Samuel Smith, Curtis Smith, Oliver Smith and James Smith, 
all of South Bend, Indiana, Willie Smith of Milwaukee and King Willie 
Smith III and Lewis Smith, both of Pine Bluff; four daughters, Doris
Washington of South Bend, Mary Walker of Port Arthur, Texas, and Joyce 
Smith and Belinda Smith, both of Pine Bluff; a brother, Wallace William 
Smith of Gary, Indiana; two sisters, Earnestine Smith and Rose Smith, 
both of Gary; 36 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
	Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Gospel 
Temple Baptist Church at Pine Bluff with the Rev. Elijah Mason officiating. 
Burial will be at the Forest Lawn Memorial Garden in Pine Bluff by

LEON DISMUKE
 Leon Dismuke, 49, of Pine Bluff, died May 7, 1998 at the Jefferson 
Regional Medical Center.
	Born on May 1, 1949, in Pine Bluff, he was a son of Robert Dismuke 
and Margaret Thomas Dismuke, both of Pine Bluff. 
	He graduated from the White Hall High School and later attended 
Columbia Military Academy in Columbia, Tennessee. 
	For the last 15 years he had been the owner of the Pine Bluff Fence 
Company at 6612 Dollarway Road. He was an avid sportsman. 
	Other survivors include a son, Richard Leon Dismuke Jr. of Pine 
Bluff; a brother, Robert Dismuke Jr. of Searcy; two sisters, Marie
Hickerson and Patsy Cook, both of Pine Bluff; a grandchild and a caregiver, 
Linda Tucker.
	Funeral services are scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday at Ralph 
Robinson & Son Funeral Directors with the Rev. Charles Huckaby

	Born December 25, 1912, at Cornerstone he was a son of the late

	He was a member of Elect Temple Church of God in Christ and was an 
assistant pastor and youth counselor at the church. 
	Survivors include his wife, Virginia Hubbard Harris; four sons, 
Demetris Woods, Edward Vinson Harris, Dominikue Remont Harris and 
Colton Xavier Harris, all of Benton; a foster son, Lewis Edward Payne 
of Flint, Michigan; a daughter, Ingrid Rochelle Morrison of Dermott; 
two foster daughters, Brenda Jones of Benton and Sylvia Williams of 
Malvern; two brothers, Garland Morris Harris of Pine Bluff and Melvin Gene 
Harris of Fresno, California; two sisters, Dorothy Ann Norris of St. Louis

Nellie Powell Maxey, 79, of Dumas, died May 7, 1998, at the Pine Bluff 
Nursing Home.
	Born on September 18, 1918, at Mauldin she was the daugbter of the 
late James Arthur Powell and Mamie Golden.
	She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
	She was preceded in death by; her husband, Ernest Maxey; two sons, 
James Ray and Max Ray; and a daughter, Penny Ray. 
	Survivors include three sons, Robert Dale Maxey and Duggan Clark 
Maxey, both of Pine Bluff, and Ernest Allen Maxey of Moscow; four daughters, 
Wanda Lee Scrimshire of Mount Ida, Norma Jean Miles of Monticello, Donnie 
Sue Tiedemann of Fort Smith and Patricia Lynn Wood of Dumas; three brothers, 
Monroe Powell of Fort Worth, D.L. Powell, of Dumas and Dick Powell of Watson;

	She was reared and received her early education at Star City. She 
moved to Pine Bluff after marriage. She was a Baptist.
	Survivors include her husband, Roy King whom she married July 5, 
1963, at Warren; two daughters, Donna Jean Shackleford and Deana Joyce 
King, both of Pine Bluff; a son Roy David King of White Hall; and 
seven grandchildren.

	Born on October 16, 1938, at Belfast he was a son of Esta Lee Buie

	He was an instrument technician with Alcoa for 28 and a half years, 
and a member of the Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church.
	Other survivors include his wife, Meredith Duke Webb; a son, William 
Webb III of Prattsville; two brothers, David Webb and Teddy Webb, both of 
Prattsville; and three sisters, Joanna Weaver and Velma Pearson, both of

	She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer R. Isbell, who 
died on December 10, 1981, five brothers, and a sister.
	Survivors include a daughter, Clyda Phillips of Star City; two
sisters, Grace DeVore and Betty Morton, both of Des Arc; and three 
grandchildren.
	Funeral services will be at 10 .a.m. today at the Hale-South Funeral

Mary Elizabeth Cicero, 93, of Pine Bluff, died May 7, 1998, at the Davis 
Life Care Center.
	Born April 29, 1905, she was a daughter of the late Dominic Cicero 
and Grace Marie Guglicuzza Cicero.
	Her parents immigrated from Sicily in 1903 on a boat which 
docked in New Orleans. She was born in Thibodeaux, Louisiana. 
	She attended school in Helena, Arkansas, and moved to Pine Bluff 
in 1921. Her parents established a grocery store at Martin and Indiana 
streets which she operated until she retired about 1980.
	She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church.
	She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. 	
	Survivors include three brothers, Dominic J. Cicero and Charles 
Cicero, both of Pine Bluff, and Francis Bernard Cicero of Little Rock; 
and two sisters, Josephine Catanese of Shreveport, and Grace Marie 
Dunn of Pine Bluff. 	
	Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. 
Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Jack O'Malley officiating. 
Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral 
Directors.

	She had worked as a cashier.

10 years and was a nurse's assistant for the Area Agency of Southeast 
Arkansas.

Kansas City, and Teresa Reynolds and Sylvia Grissom, both of Pine Bluff;

She was also chairman of the English Department at Pine Bluff High School 
and had recently earned a specialist degree in education administration 
from the University Arkansas at Fayetteville. 
	She was a member of First Baptist Church of White Hall, a member 
of the National Council of Teachers of English, Arkansas Council of 
Teachers of English, Arkansas Association of School Curriculum 
Development, Delta Kappa Gamma, Phi Delta Kappa, Jefferson County Work 
Force Alliance, Arkansas Association of Educational Administrators and 
the Pine Bluff High School Curriculum Committee. She was a board 
member of ACTELA, a sponsor of the National Honor Society and Debate Team, 
and chairman of the PBHS' Creating Opportunities for Excellence. 		Survivors include her husband, Alva Domon, whom she married on 
March 26, 1966, at White Hall; a daughter, Leigh Ann Domon of White 
Hall; a brother, Ray Heflin of St. Louis; and a sister, Bertha Bugg of 
Little Rock.

Hubert Benton "J.R." Thomas Jr., 52, of Pine Bluff, died May 9, 1998, at 
his home.
	He was born September 23, 1945, at Pine Bluff, a son of Alice Horne 
Smith of Pine Bluff and the late Hubert Benton Thomas Sr.
	He was a Baptist and a machinist for General Tool & Engineering. 
He was also in the Army from 1965 to 1971, having served in Germany and 
Korea. He loved to fish and play dominos. 
	He also attended Pines Vo-Tech, now Southeast Arkansas Technical 
College.
	Other survivors include; a daughter, Christine Thomas Richter of 
Elizabeth City, North Carolina; three brothers, Earl Smith of Burbank, 
California, and Phillip Smith and Kevin Smith, both of Pine Bluff;

DALLAS - Clyde Harden, 82, of Dallas, died May 8, 1998, at Dallas.
	He was born August 31, 1915, at Pine Bluff.
	He was an Army veteran of World War II and retired from the City of 
Dallas as chief building inspector following 41 years of service. He 
received the Phil Roberts International Award for the Outstanding Building 
Official in 1979. 
	He was a deacon at First Baptist Church of Oak Cliff and also at 
Royal Haven Baptist Church, where he also served as a Sunday school 
teacher for more than 60 years. He was Deacon Emeritus at Royal Haven 
Baptist Church.
	Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Edythe Harden of Dallas;
two daughters, Ava Davis of Dallas and Susan Harden Borwick of Winston-
Salem, North Carolina; a brother, Robert Harden of Mount Vernon, 
Texas; three sisters, Helen Harden of Lancaster, Stella Frances-Henley 
both of Lancaster and Nell Shoenfelt of Houston; three grandchildren; 
and a great-grandchild.

DALLAS - Clyde Harden, 82, of Dallas, died May 8, 1998, at Dallas.
	He was born August 31, 1915, at Pine Bluff.
	He was an Army veteran of World War II. He also retired from the 
City of Dallas as chief building inspector following 41 years of service. 
He received the Phil Roberts International Award for the Outstanding 
Building Official in 1979. 
	He was a deacon at First Baptist Church of Oak Cliff and Royal 
Haven Baptist Church, where he also served as a Sunday school teacher 
for more than 60 years. He was Deacon Emeritus at Royal Haven Baptist 
Church.
	Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Edythe Harden of Dallas;
two daughters, Ava Davis of Dallas and Susan Harden Borwick of Winston-
Salem, North Carolina; a brother, Robert Harden of Mount Vernon, 
Texas; three sisters, Helen Harden of Lancaster, Stella Frances-
Henley of Lancaster and Nell Shoenfelt of Houston; three grandchildren; 
and a great-grandchild.

John Caldwell Boyd, 77, of Calmer, died May 9, 1998, at Jefferson 
Regional Medical Center.
	He was born February 6, 1921, in Lincoln County, a son of the 
late John Leander Boyd and Lissie Beth Carr Boyd.
	He was a retired mechanic, a Navy veteran of World War II, and a 
member of the American Legion. He was also a member of the Big "D" 
Hunting Club and loved hunting and fishing.
	Survivors include his wife, Frances Greenlee Boyd of Calmer; two 
sons, Jim Boyd of Calmer and John Boyd Jr. of Griffin Springs; a 
stepson,  Richard Lunsford of Calmer; two stepdaughters, Gail Coats 
and Pat Booher, both of Calmer; a brother, Grover Boyd of Minden, Louisiana; 
a sister, Mildred McGhee of Star City; nine grandchildren; and five 
great-grandchildren.

Jimmy L. Perkins, 50, of Hensley, died May 9, 1998, at Little Rock 
Health Center.
	He was born September 7, 1947, in Little Rock, a son of the late 
William Jewell Perkins and Mabel Rose Perkins.
	He was reared and educated in Hensley and has lived in Arkansas all 
his life. He was an independent roofing contractor in Pulaski and Jefferson 
Counties for several years.
	Survivors include a son, Jimmy L. Perkins Jr. of Redfield; a 
daughter, Patsy LeGros of Jefferson; a stepdaughter, Sandra Berry of 
Redfield; two brothers, Roy Perkins of Hensley and Joe Perkins of East End; 
a sister, Judy Perkins of Oklahoma; and three grandchildren.

in the East End Community in Saline County with the Rev. Matthew Watson

Jane E. Worley, 83, of Kaydon Road, Pine Bluff, died May 9, 1998, at 
Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
	She was born September 8, 1914, at Sanford, Florida, a daughter of 
the late John G. Herrin and Lucinda Sutherland Herrin.
	She was reared and educated in Florida. She graduated from nursing 
school and served in the Army Nurse Corps for 20 years. She moved to Pine 
Bluff in 1960. 
	She was a member of First Assembly of God Church.
	She married Alfred Worley on April 24, 1960, in Paragould. He 
preceded her in death on June 29, 1981.
	Survivors include two daughters, Patricia A. Zandy of Endwell, 
New York and Betty L. Fancher of Gloversville, New York; a sister, 
Louise L. Manire of Hampton, Florida; nine grandchildren and seven great-
grandchildren.
	Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Assembly

	He received his early education in the public schools of Pulaski 
County. He was a retired farmer and member of First Baptist Church.

Ricks of Woodson and Shelia A. Brooks of Gardena, California; a brother,

of her life until moving to Sheridan several years ago.

Aldo James Turchi, 87, of Pine Bluff, died May 11, 1998, at Jefferson 
Regional Medical Center.
	He was born on August 19, 1910, at Lake Village, a son of the late 
Warren Turchi and Theresa Massanelli Turchi.
	He attended school at Cottondale and was a longtime resident of 
Pine Bluff. He was a farmer for many years, a fur buyer, grocery 
store owner and package store owner. He sponsored and managed a 
semipro baseball team, Turchi's Grocery, in the 1940s.
	He was a horse racing fan and often attended races at Hot 
Springs. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a fourth-
degree in the Knights of Columbus.
	He was preceded in death by his wife, Cecilia Turchi; a son, 
Thomas L. Turchi; a daughter, Ann Theresa Turchi; a brother, Nello J. 
Turchi; and a grandchild. 
	Survivors include two sons, James J. Turchi of Texarkana, Texas, 
and Joseph W. Turchi of Pine Bluff; two dauphters, Anna Marie Jacks of 
Pine Bluff and Rita C. Adams of Texarkana; three sisters, Mary Brock, 
Zaida Rinchuso and Valana Rinchuso, all of Pine Bluff; a brother, V.B.

	He was a retired Georgia-Pacific Plywood employee and a member of

	He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.

	He was a retired manager for J.C. Price Company, serving 34 years,

	He was preceded in death by his wife, Carleen M. Battle Huitt, whom 
he married on December 28, 1940, and who died on July 15, 1985; and a half 
sister, Marcelle Johnson Sutterfield.
	Survivors include two sons, Jack Lee Huitt of Bellville and Richard 
Carl Huitt of Riverside, California; four grandchildren; and two great-
grandchildren.

Bobby L. Osburn, 63, of Pine Bluff, died May l2, 1998, at Jefferson

	He was born on January 30, 1935, at Marianna, a son of Margaret 
White Osburn of Stuttgart and the late A.T. Osburn.
	He was raised and received his early education at Marianna. When he 
graduated from high school, he attended Hendrix College and Arkansas 
State Teacher's College, now the University of Central Arkansas. He 
worked for the John Deere Company in Arkansas, Mississippi and Missouri.
	He worked for Farmers Tractor and Equipment Company at Pine Bluff 
and later for Welch Motor Company. He was active for many years in the 
Little League, Junior Babe Ruth, where he was president of the board, 
and the American Legion. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
	He was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Osburn.
	Other survivors include his wife, Elaine Osburn; a son, Kevin Osburn 
of New York; a daughter, Melissa Russell of Memphis; a sister, Martha 
Morgan of Stuttgart; and five grandchildren.

ENGLEWOOD, California--Orena Sanders, 95, of Los Angeles, died May 7, 1998, 
at the Daniel Freeman Hospital.
	Born May 17, 1902, at Monticello, Arkansas, she was a daughter of 
the late Oscar Williams and Ethel Taylor Williams. 
	She was a homemaker and a member of the New St. Hurricane Baptist 
Church at Pine Bluff. 
	She was preceded in death by her husband, Toliver Sanders.
	Survivors include four daughters, Lena Irvin of Maywood, Illinois, 
Florine Taylor of Chicago, Jessie Roulhac of Pine Bluff and Gracie Lee Young 
of Los Angeles; a sister, Littie B. Thomas of Oakland, California; 15 
grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.
	Funeral services will be noon Friday at the New St.Hurricane Baptist
Church at Pine Bluff with the Rev. L.R. Jones officiating. Burial will be 
in New St. Hurricane Cemetery.
	The body will be at the church from 11 a.m. Friday to service time. 
Visitation will be from 4 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

WILMER MONTGOMERY
MONTICELLO-- Wilmer Layton Montgomery, 92, of Dumas, died May 12, 1998, 
at Drew Memorial Hospital. 
	Born November 2, 1905, at Thornburg (Perry County), he was a son 
of the late James B. Montgomery and Lorendia Montgomery.
	He was a farmer with the R.A. Pickens Farm and was a member of the 
Daniels Chapel Baptist Church.
	He was preceded in death by his wife, Violet Lorene Steinheil Montgomery; 
a son, James Edward Montgomery; a daughter, Joyce Ann Montgomery; and a 
grandson.
	Survivors include a son, Bill Montgomery of Dumas; a daughter, 
Jocie Chambers of Mountain Pine (Garland County); 10 grandchildren; l2 
great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
	Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. today at the Griffin Funeral 
Home with the Rev. Daniel Montgomery officiating. Burial will be in the 
Walnut Lake Cemetery at Dumas.
	Memorials may be made to the Daniels Chapel Baptist Church.

FRANCES REYNOLDS
Mary Frances Reynolds, 69, of Pine Bluff, died May l2, l998, at 
Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
	Born on June 27, l928, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Poye 
and Luciile Brewer Poye.
	She was a homemaker and a member of Harmony Missionary Baptist Church.
	She was serving as the president of the Jefferson Regional Medical 
Center Auxiliary. She had given 11,169 1/2 hours of volunteer work at JRMC. 
She was voted as the JRMC Auxilian of the year in 1992. The Arkansas 
Hospital Auxiliary Association voted her as the Auxilian of the year in 
1993-94.
	She was a member of the Alpha Tau Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha 
Sorority for 18 years. She was voted as the Outstanding Woman of the 
Year four times by the Alpha Tau chapter. She achieved her 5th-
Degree Pallas Athene award and had served as chapter president, vice 
presideht, secretary, treasurer and parliamentarian.
	She was preceded in death by a son, Larry Reynolds; and a brother, 
Carroll Poye.
	Survivors include her husband, Calvin Reynolds, whom she married on 
September 23, 1944; a son, Ronald Reynolds of San Antonio; a daughter, 
Martha Fitts of Pine Bluff; three brothers, Joe Poye, James Poye 
and Tony Poye, all of Pine Bluff; a sister, Linda Poye of California; five 
grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
	Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Harmony
Missionary Baptist Church with Doug Hammonds and Eddie Addison officiating. 
Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery.
	Memorials may be made in the form of contributions to the Harmony 
Missionary Church Building Fund.

RAY FORREST
CROSSETT -- Ray Forrest, 70, of Crossett, died May 13, 1998, at the Ashley 
Medical Center. 
	Born on October 3, 1927, at Sumpter (Bradley County), he was a son 
of the late Jack Forrest and Bessie Braswell Forrest.
	He was a retired sawmill worker and a Baptist.
	Survivors include three sons, Tommy Forrest of Monticello, Mackie 
Forrest of Dermott and Marty Forrest of Warren; a daughter, Carolyn 
Jacobs of Crossett; a brother, Lester Forrest of Warren; two sisters, 
Helen Busbee of Neham, Alabama, and Sue Forrest of California; seven 
grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
	Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Frazer's Funeral
Home at Warren with the Rev. Wayman Mann officiating. Burial will be in 
Union Hill Cemetery at Ingalls.

ALTHEIMER --Lizzie Brown, 78, of Altheimer, died May 11, 1998, at her 
home.
	She was born on January 15, 1920, at Wilkins, a daughter of the late 
George Brown and Dora Brown.
	She received her early education in the public schools at Wilkins 
and Turnetine. She was a member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church 
at Altheimer, where she served on the Usher Board. She was a homemaker 
and a former employee of Southeast Arkansas Area Agency on Aging.
	Survivors include six brothers, Thomas Price of Altheimer, Louis 
Brown, Bories Brown and James Brown, all of DeWitt, Mack Brown of Pine 
Bluff and Elmer Brown of Los Angeles; and two sisters, Eliza Burse of DeWitt 
and Arnetter Fields of Little Rock. 
	The funeral will bk at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Zion Missionary 
Baptist Church with the Rev. Darrell Martin officiating. Burial will 
be in Altheimer Community Cemetery by P.K. Miller Mortuary.
	Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. today at the mortuary. The family 
will be at Thomas Price's home at Altheimer.

Erma Lean Bennett, 59, of Dumas, died May 7, 1998, at Jefferson Regional
Medical Center.
	She was born on February 2, 1939, at Bookman, a daughter of the 
late John Dean and Lillie Grant Greenberry.
	She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
	She was preceded in death by her husband, Clardy Bennett Sr. 		
	Survivors include three sons, James A. Slater of Detroit,
Kenneth L. Slater of Little Rock and Clardy Bennett Jr. of Conway; 
five daughters, Vernessa Knight and Elokechia D. Miles, both of Dumas, 
Jeanne McCloud of Marietta, Georgia, and Elonzia Bennett-McGee and 
Rhonda Bennett, both of Stone Mountain, Georgia; two brothers, Lawrence 
Greenberry of Flint, Michigan, and J.D. Dean of Oakland, California; four 
sisters, Mary Greenberry Collins of Madison, Wisconsin, Vernel Jones 
of Chicago, and Maple Greenberry Tate and Rosemary Greenberry, both of 
Dumas; and 12 grandchildren.
	The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Watson District 
Headquarters at Mitchellville with the Rev. Howard Bess officiating. 
Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery at Varner by Brown Funeral 
Home at Dumas.

LlTTLE ROCK -- Johnnie Mae O'Hara, 86, of Carthage, died May 9, 1998, at 
New Baptist Hospital here.
	She was born on June 7, 1911, at Carthage, a daughter of the late 
William Goodloe and Rosie Lorine Crain Hall.
	She was a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church
at Carthage, where she was a church clerk, member of the Missionary 
Society and a Sunday School teacher.
	She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert O'Hara. 
	Survivors include a son, Billy Joe O'Hara of Carthage; four 
daughters, Mary J. O'Hara and Rosie Lee Smith, both of Las Vegas, Josephine 
Madison of San Diego and Johnnie Jo O'Hara of Carthage; three sisters, 
Pearlie Mae Hawkins of Carthage, Lillie Mae McAlpine of San Francisco and 
Elizabeth Oakley of Antioch, California; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-
grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchilaren.

LITTLE ROCK--Marchello Wheller, l3, of Warren, died May 12, 1998, at 
Arkansas Children's Hospital from injuries received in a shooting.
	He was born on August 23, 1984, at Warren, a son of Michael 
Phillips and Guinna Wheller, both of Warren. 
	He was a sixth grader at Warren Middle School.
	Other survivors include three brothers, Eric Wheller, Keith Wheller 
and Johnathon Wheller, all of Warren; and grandparents, Willie D. and 
Gloria N. Phillips and Bobbie C. and Mary Sue Wheller, all of Warren.
	The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Warren High School with 
Bishop Danny Mays officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery at Hermitage.

JOE ROBINSON
Joe G. Robinson, 63, of Altheimer, died May 14, 1998, at Jefferson 
Regional Medical Center.
	He was born September 2, 1934, at Casa (Perry County) the son of 
the late Marion Jolly Robinson and Nancy Davidson Robinson. 
	He received his education at Casa and Wabbaseka and lived in 
Altheimer most of his life. He was the manager of the Planter Cotton 
Gin and Warehouse since 1979. He had been attending First Baptist 
Church of Altheimer.
	He is survived by his wife, Helen Robinson of Altheimer; two sons, 
Ricky Joe Robinson of Humphrey and Billy Joe Robinson of Pine Bluff; 
two daughters, Glenda Ward of Little Rock and Jody Pickard of Rhode Island; 
and six grandchildren.
	Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Ralph Robinson 
& Sons with the Rev. Johnny Shaw officiating. Visitation will be from 6 
to 8 p. m. today at the funeral home.
	Memorial contributions may be madeto the First Baptist Church of 
Altheimer or to the donor's favorite charity.

NED MOTHERSHED
Ned Mothershed, 78, of Pine Bluff, died May 10, 1998, at Jefferson 
Regional Medical Center.
	Born on November 22, 1919, at Kiblah (Miller County), he was the 
son of the late Dation and Fannie Mothershed.
	He was educated in the public schools of Arkansas. He was deacon at 
the Grace Temple Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War Two serving 
in the army. He retired from the B.F. Goodrich Company in 1983. 
	He was preceded in death by two brothers.
	Survivors include his wife, Anna G. Mothershed, whom he married in 
1975; five sons, Charles E. Mothershed of North Little Rock, Alvin 
Mothershed of Fresno, California, Jimmy Mothershed of Houston, Texas, 
and Ronnie Mothershed and Roderick Currington, both of Pine Bluff; 
three daughters, Mary Little of Detroit, Michigan, Shelly Duckett 
of Tampa, Florida, and Pamela King of Omaha, Nebraska; three sisters, 
Lee E. Mothershed of Cullen, Louisiana, and Eula M. Mothershed and 
Nellie M. Pickings, both of Camden; 33 grandchildren; and seven 
great-grandchildren.
	Funeral services will be held at noon, Saturday, at Grace Temple 
Baptist Church with Rev. Amelio P. Howard officiating. Burial will be 
in Forest Lawn Memorial Garden.
	The body will be at the home Saturday, from 11 a.m. until the

Medical Center.
	He was born on August 10, 1923, at Reed, a son of the late Byrant 
and Lena Porter.

and Donell Porter, both of Warren, Robert Porter of Los Angeles and 
Howard Porter of Dermott; four daughters, Doristeen Phillips and

Thomas, both of Los Angeles; a brother, L.C. Porter of Flint, 
Michigan; 21 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Donald Henry, 84, of Redfield, died May 14, 1998, at Jefferson Regional 
Medical Center.
	He was born on July 29, 1913, at Redfield, a son of the late John 
M. Henry and Mamie E. Poynter Henry.
	He attended Redfield United Methodist Church and was a warehouse 
clerk for Weyerhaeuser Paper Mill. He was an Air Force veteran of World 
War II, serving in the Eighth Air Force. He was a member of the American 
Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Redfield Masonic Lodge No. 700.
	Survivors include a sister-in-law who lived with him, Mattie Henry 
of Redfield.
	The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hale-South Funeral Home 
with John Farthing officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.

late John Wesley Webb and Virginia Griffin Webb.
	She was a housewife and Jehovah's Witness.
	Survivors include her husband, Robert Berryman of Green Hill; two 
sons, Joe Berryman and Bob Berryman, both of Green Hill; a daughter, 
Kathy Burroughs of Pine Bluff; a sister, May Young of Wilmar; six 
grandchildren; and 11 great- grandchildren.

Bluff, died May 3, 1998, at Atlanta.
	She was born March 21, 1947, at Jefferson, the daughter of 
Laura A. Robinson Musgrove of Mammoth Spring (Fulton County) and the 
late Odia L. Musgrove Sr.

Georgia, and Michelle L. Stowe of Spokane, Washington; two brothers,

	Born on July 26, 1926, at Hollis, she was a daughter of the late 
Cecil Wiley and Lula Lime Wiley. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
	She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon M. Boyd, who died 
October 31, 1989; two brothers, Robert Wiley and Opal Wiley; and a 
sister, Virgie Wallace.
	Survivors include two daughters, Wilma Ethel Riggs of Texas and 
Carolyn Tillman of Pine Bluff; four brothers, Francis Wiley, Alvin Wiley, 
Virgil Wiley and Eugene Wiley, all of Pine Bluff; two sisters, Jean 
Rogers of Pine Bluff and Rita Faye Taylor of Texas; three grandchildren; 
and two great-grandchildren.

	She was born on September 2, l9l8, at Ladd, a daughter of the late 
Emmett Shorter and Lucy Robinson Shorter.
	She was a member of Kings Highway Baptist Church, where she was a 
member of the choir and the Missionary Circle.
	She was preceded in death by a son, Billy Ray McAfee; a daughter, 
Jeraldine Turntine;  three brothers; and a sister.
	Survivors include two sons, Henry Watkins and Emmett Kirk, both 
of Pine Bluff; two brothers, Curlee Shorter and Robert Shorter, both of 
Pine Bluff; two sisters, Jeraldine Douglas and Pink Anna Wicks, both 
of Pine Bluff; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
	The funeral will be at noon Saturday at Kings Highway Baptist Church
