SMITH, J. B. (YANK) - Cumby, Texas, Feb. 27, 1922 - J. B. (Yank) Smith died at
his residence here in Cumby, and was buried in the Cumby Cemetery. Mr. Smith
was born in Boonville, Ind., Mar. 1, 1837. At an early age his parents moved
to Louisville, Ky., where he resided till 1850, when he moved to Texas, but
only remained a short time, going north and locating in southern Illinois. At
the break out of the civil war he enlisted in Cumby. He is survived by his
wife, four daughters and one son, and several grandchildren. He has one
brother in New Boston, Texas. (Dallas Morning news. Feb. 28, 1922
