Elbert Richard Smith 81,of Redwater, Texas died Tuesday May 4,2004 in a local hospital.  
Mr. Smith was born April 7,1923 in DeKalb,Texas.  He was retired from Lone Star Army 
Ammunition Plant, a member of Oakridge Missionary Baptist Church,Maud, Texas and a 
World War II Army veteran.   He was preceaded in death by his wife, Abby Ruth Smith.    

Survivors include one son, Jim Smith of Texarkana; four daughters, Linda Kelley, Sandra 
Smith, and Rhonda Lynch of Redwater; and Debra Kambridge of Monroe, La; one brother, 
Wayne Smith of Longview, Texas; two sisters, Iva Chaney of Redwater; and Letha Miles 
of Nash, Texas; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a number of other 
relatives.  Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Redwater Cemetery with the 
Rev. Jason Dudley officiating, under direction of Chapelwood Funeral Home.  Visitation 
will be 7-8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
