New York Times - May 17, 1858
Gen. Peter Sken Smith, formerly, for a number of years, a resident of
Philadelphia, died on the 6th inst., in Springfield, Mass., aged 63.  He had
recently taken up his residence in Springfield.  Gen. Smith served in early life
in the United States army and was extensively known from his connection a few
years back with the American movement.  His death resulted from a complication
of brain and heart disease.  He was brother of the Hon. Gerritt Smith of New York.
