SMITH

  Elmer Smith died at the home of Mrs. Jennie Crawford, in Mount Union, 
on Friday evening, Oct. 18, from the effects of Spanish influenza and 
pneumonia.  Deceased was the son of Elijah and Juniata Smith, and was 
born near Mount Union, on Aug. 2, 1884.  He was employed at the Mount 
Union Refractories company, and for several years had made his home 
with Mrs. Crawford.  Deceased was unmarried, and is survived by three 
sisters and one brother, as follows: Mrs. Charles Cornelius, and Mrs. 
Warren Hess, of Allenport; Mrs. Charles Masemore, of Newton Hamilton, 
and Herbert Smith, in the U.S. service in France.  The funeral service 
was conducted on Sunday, Oct. 20, by the Rev. S. S. Carnel, pastor of 
the Methodist church of Allenport, with interment in Odd Fellows 
cemetery.
