MRS. ROSANNA SMITH

  Mrs. Rosanna Smith died at 11:15 o'clock yesterday morning at the 
home of her daughter, Mrs. Albert Rhoades, 101 North Pine street, 
Lakemont, where she had made her home for the past eleven years.  She 
was born September 6, 1836, and had been married twice, her first 
husband, David Himes, preceding her to the grave forty-three years ago.  
To the first union nine children were born, all of whom died excepting 
Mrs. Rhoades, and a son, Samuel Himes, of this city.  She was married 
the second time to John Smith on October 19, 1876.  He died two years 
ago.  No children were born to the second union.  Mrs. Smith was the 
mother of nine children and is survived by twelve grandchildren and 
nine great-grandchildren.  She was widely known as "Grandma" Smith, and 
had a great number of friends.  Mrs. Smith was a member of the Church 
of God, of Lakemont.  The funeral will be held with services at the 
home of her daughter at Lakemont, at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon with 
services in charge of Rev. Silas Nonemaker.  Interment will be made in 
Carson Valley cemetery.
