WILL OF JEPTHA LEET

In the name of God Amen, I Jeptha Leet Sen. being weak in body but of sound 
mind and disposing memory do make this my last will and testament in manner and 
form as follow to wit,

  Item 1st I will and desire that my old crop of tobacco now on hand together 
with all of the land I own in the County of Hickman and commonwealth of Ky 
not herein after disposed of shall be sold and the proceeds arrising therefrom
to go to the payment of my just debts and should the proceeds of such sales 
amount to more than will pay all just debts in that case I will and desire that 
the surplus be equally divided between my two Daughters, ELIZABETH CASTLIN, 
and AMANDA IRVIN---- 
  Item 2nd I will and bequeath to my beloved wife SARAH LEET the quarter Section
of land on which I now live reserving eleven and 1/4 in the South east corner
which I have sold to Mr ELLIS and also reserving sixty acres including the mill
seat off of the east end of said quarter. I also bequeath to my wife SARAH LEET
ten acres of land off of the tract over the road  and in front of the black
Smith Shop also all of the stock of horses, cattle, sheep, & hogs now on the
farm all the present growing crop and all of my house hold & kitchen furniture
during her natural life or widowhood & at her death or marriage to my son ROBERT
EMMET LEET. 
  Item 3rd I will and bequeath to son ROBT EMMET LEET and my daughter EMALINE 
MANEESE and their heirs (but  with the express promise that it is not to be sold 
for debt) sixty acres of land off the east end of the tract I now live included 
the mill seat. 
  Item 4th I will and desire that all of the interest in the state of Louisiana 
that I now possess including both personal and real be delivered into the hands 
of my Son GEORGE LEET and by him disposed of and the proceeds to be equally 
divided between all my children by my first wife Item 5th I will and bequeath to 
my son ROBERT EMMET LEET my Silver Watch ----- and lastly I nominate and appoint 
my son ROBERT E. LEET and WM. I. MANEESE my Executors to this my last will & 
testament for the purpose of carring it into all effect. 

Given under my hand at my own residence this 16th day of October 1844
