MRS. ETHEL M. CHAPMAN
SUFFOLK - Mrs. Ethel Murphy Chapman, 65, of 115 S. Broad St., died Friday
at 6 p.m. in a Portsmouth hospital.
A native of Suffolk, she was a daughter of Mrs. Louise Crumpler Murphy and
the late Henry P. Murphy and the widow of Robert R. Chapman.
She was member of Suffolk Christian Church and teacher of the Junior High
Department of the Sunday School 20 years. She was also a member of Riverview
Garden Club.
Besides her mother, she is survived by a son, Jack Chapman of Suffolk; a
daughter, Mrs. L.L. Davis Jr. of Portsmouth; two brothers, James F. Murphy
of Suffolk and Henry P. Murphy of Richmond; two sisters, Mrs. L.L. Looney
Jr. of Burlington, N.C., and Mrs. Kenneth Cline of Charlotte, N.C.; and six
grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in R.W. Baker Funeral Home
by the Rev. Robert Marr. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
