This Indenture made the Thirteenth Day of May in the Twentieth Year of the 
Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Second by the Grace of God of Great 
Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the faith &c. And in the Year of 
our Lord Christ one Thousand Seven Hundred and forty Seven. 
Between Robert HARRIS the younger of the Parish of Nottoway in the County of 
Isle of Wight Planter and Jane his Wife of the one Part 
and James RUSSELL of the Parish and County of Warwick Planter of the other 
Part. 
Witnesseth That for and in Consideration of the Sum of Thirty Pounds Current 
Money of Virginia to him the said Robert HARRIS,* 

[inserted vertically in margin] * in Hand paid by the said James RUSSELL at or 
before the Sealing & Delivery of these Presents, the Receipt whereof the said 
Robert HARRIS 

doth hereby acknowledge and thereof acquit and Discharge the said James 
RUSSELL his Heirs Ex:rs & Adm:rs 
they the s:d Robert HARRIS and Jane his wife Have and each of them Hath 
Granted Bargained Sold Aliend, Released, Enfeofed & Confirmed and by these 
Presents Do and each of them Doth Grant Bargain Sell Alien Release, Enfeof and 
Confirm unto the said James RUSSELL his Heirs and Assigns for ever. All that 
Tract or Parcel of Land containing One hundred and Fifty Acres Acres [sic] be 
the same more or less Situate lying and being in the County of Isle of Wight 
on the South side of the Main black Water Swamp and on both sides of the North 
Fork of Black Creek and bounded as followeth (to wit) 
Begining at a Maple on the North side of Black Creek afores.d a Corner of 
Robert MONGER Jun:r his Land 
thence by MONGER's Line North One Hundred and twenty Poles to a red Oak; 
thence West One Hundred and Eighty Poles to a Pine in a Pocoson; 
thence South One Hundred and thirty two Poles to a white Oak, 
& North

Which said Tract or Parcel of Land was Granted to the said Robert HARRIS by 
Patent bearing Date the fifth Day of July One Thousand Seven Hundred & forty 
Six [PB24:302-03] 
Also all that Tract or Parcel of Land Containing two hundred Acres be the same 
more or less lying and being in the County of Isle of Wight on the North side 
of Black Creek and Bounded as followeth (to wit) 
Begining at a Gum a Corner of Tho.s MARKS Land by the side of Frank's Branch 
thence by MARKS Line South Ten Degrees West One Hundred and four Poles to a 
white Oak a Corner of George HARRIS's Land 
thence by the said HARRIS's lines North thirty five Degrees West Seventy four 
Poles to a red Oak 
and South West by West Sixty Poles to a Black Oak, 
thence North Seventy Degrees West two Hundred and Sixty Six Poles to a Pine in 
Black Creek Pocoson 
thence North Five Degrees East One Hundred and fifty two Poles to a red Oak 
thence North Eighty Five Degrees East Ninety two Poles to a small Pine, 
thence South twenty five Degrees East Eighty four Poles to a Pine 
thence North Seventy five Degrees East Ten Poles to a Pine in the Line of 
Robert HARRIS's other Land, 
thence by his old Lines South One Hundred and twenty Poles to a Pine, 
and East One Hundred and Eighty Nine Poles to a white Oak, 
and North Seventy Poles to a Maple in Frank's Branch afores.d 
thence downe the various Courses of the Run of the said Branch to the 
Begining. 
Which said two Hundred Acres of Land was Granted unto the said Robert HARRIS 
by Patent bearing Date the Twelfth Day of May One Thousand Seven Hundred and 
forty Seven. 
And all Houses, Outhouses, Edifices, Buildings, Yards, Gardens, Woods, 
Underwoods, Trees, Ways, Waters, Water Courses, Swamps, low Grounds, Profits, 
Commodities, Hereditaments and Appurtenances whatsoever to the said two Tracts 
or Parcels of Land hereby Bargained and Sold belonging or in any wise 
appertaining. 
And the Reversion and Reversions, Remainder and Remainders, Rents, Issues and 
Profits thereof. 
And Also all the Estate, Right, Title, Interest, Use, Trust, Possession, 
Benefit, Property Claim and Demand whatsoever of them the said Robert HARRIS 
and Jane his Wife of in and to the same [&] every or any Part thereof. 
And all Deeds, Evidences and

Writings Touching or in any wise concerning the said Premises 
To have and to hold all and Singular the said Tracts or Parcels of Land and 
Premises herein before mentioned or Intended to be hereby Bargained and Sold 
with their and every of their Appurtenances unto the said James RUSSELL his 
Heirs and Assigns. 
To the only Proper Use and Behoof of him the said James RUSSELL his Heirs and 
Assigns for ever. 
And the said Robert HARRIS for himself his Heirs, Exec:rs and Adm:rs doth 
Covenant, Promise and Grant to and with the said James RUSSELL his Heirs and 
Assigns by these Presents, in manner and Form following (that is to say) 
That it shall and may be lawfull to and for the said James RUSSELL his Heirs 
and Assigns from Time to Time and at all Times hereafter be Peaceably and 
Quietly to Have hold, Use, Occupy, Possess and Enjoy all and Singular the said 
Tracts or Parcels of Land and Premises hereby Bargained and Sold without the 
lawfull, Let, Suit Trouble Molestation or Hinderance of him the said Robert 
HARRIS or of any other Person or Persons whatsoever, and that free and Clear 
and freely and Clearly acquited, Exonerated and dsicharged of from and against 
all former and other Gifts, Grants, Bargains, Sales, Leases, Intails, 
Jointures, Dowers & Title of Dowers, Mortgages, Trusts, Forfeitures, Rents, 
Titles, Troubles, Charges and all other Incumberances of what Nature or kind 
soever. 
And likewise That the s.d Robert HARRIS his Heirs, Exec:rs and Adm:rs and all 
and every other Person or Persons having or lawfully Claiming or to Claim my 
Estate or Interest of in and to the said Premises hereby Bargained and Sold or 
any Part thereof by from or under him them or any of them shall and will from 
Time to Time and at all Times hereafter upon the reasonable Request and at the 
Costs and Charges in the Law the said James RUSSEL his Heirs and Assigns make 
do and Execute or Cause to be made done and Executed all and every such 
further and other Lawfull and Reasonable Act and Acts, Thing and Things, 
Devises, Conveyances and Assurances, in the Law whatsoever for the further, 
better more Perfect & absolute Conveying & Assuring all and Singular the said 
Premises hereby Bargained and

Sold unto the said James RUSSELL his Heirs & Assigns as by the said James 
RUSSELL his Heirs or Assigns or his or their Counsel learned in the Law shall 
Lawfully and Reasonably Devised advised or Required. 
And lastly That he the said Robert HARRIS and his Heirs &c. all and Singular 
the Tracts or Parcels of land and Premises herein before mentioned to be hereby 
Bargained and Sold and every Part and Parcel thereof with the Appurtenances 
unto the said James RUSSELL his Heirs and Assigns and every of them and 
against all and every other Persons and Person whatsoever having or lawfully 
Claiming any Estate Right Title or Interest of in or to the same or of in or 
to any Part or Parcel thereof shall and will Warrant and forever Defend by 
these Presents. 
In Witness whereof the Parties of these Presents have hereunto interchangeably 
set their Hands & affixed their Seals the Day & Year first within Written.
