Will: Robert Lines, Culpeper Co, VA (1749)

IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, the 16th day of January 1749.  I Robert Lines of 
Culpeper County, being sick and weak in bodey but of perfet mind and memorey, 
thankes be to God, therefore, I make and ordain this my last will and testament 
and first of all I give and recommend my sole into the hands of God that gave it 
me and as for my bodey I recommend to the earth to be deasently burryed.

Item: My will is tht my daughter Elasbeth Howall shall have one cow caled Stay 
and her yearling and her puter (pewter) basens (basins), one of the best and one 
of the worst and no more of my estate.

Item: I give to my daughter Jemima Garrat one shilling and no more.

Item: I give to my daughter Mary Caster (or Casher) one shilling and no more.

Item: I give to my sun Robert Foote any lot whereon I now live.

Item: I give to my sun John Foote one black mayre named Blane and my gun.

I give to my daughter Sarah Foote five pounds ten shilling, in Bromfield Long's 
hands as the mayre again? that I sold him, if she lickes to tack him? again.

Item: I give all the remainder of my estate not before mentitiened to be equalle 
devided between my loving wife Margaret Lines and my three children: Robert 
Foote, Sarah Foote and John Foote after my debtes and funeral expences is payed.

I do apoynt my sun robert Foote and my daughter Sarah Foote my Executors of this 
my Last Will and Testament.

IN WITNESS whereunto set my hand and seale.

Interlined the word Sarah before sined mark.

                     At a Court held for the County of Culpeper
                      Thursday, the 15th day of February 1749

This Last Will and Testament of Robert Lines was proved by the oath of George 
Doggett, a witness thereto 

And                    At a Court held for the County of Culpeper
                             Friday, the 16th day of March 1749

Said Will was sworn to by the Executor Robert Foley, therein named and ordered 
to be recorded and Certificate is granted to the said Robert Foley for obtaining 
a Probat thereof in due form - Elizabeth Howell Jamison Garrett and Mary Carter 
co-heirs in law of the decedent, appeared in court and declared severally that 
they had no legal objection to the validity of this Will.
