Blackner, Woodrow Raymond
LAYTON - Woodrow Ray Blackner, beloved husband and father passed away
peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on Saturday June 4, 2005. Ray was
born April 21, 1917 in Lyman, Wyoming to Leonard Ray Blackner and Bessie
Louise Briggs. He married his sweetheart, Wanda Elsie Harvey on September 4,
1937. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on
December 15,1943. Ray was a member of the LDS Church and attended the Central
Ward in Layton. He loved the outdoors, which included camping, hunting,
fishing, and rock hunting. He knew the value of hard work and its special
rewards. In addition to his career as a Barber he worked for Union Pacific,
Mt. Fuel and later retired from HAFB in 1980. Ray served his country dutifully
in the US Military in WWII. Ray is survived by his wife; Wanda Blackner, one
daughter, Eloise Weaver and two sons, Tyler (Kathy) Blackner and Colin
(Christie) Blackner, 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren and 1
great-great- grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters,
Rebecca Blackner (his twin), Nina Blackner Hull, one brother Leonard Blackner,
his twin sons, Byron and Blaine and one son-in-law, Dave Weaver. Special
thanks to Odyssey Hospice Care, Dr. Steven Tucker and the many caring staff
members for their wonderful thoughtful care. Funeral services will be held
Tuesday June 7, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 North
Fairfield Road, Layton, UT. Friends may call at the mortuary Monday June 6,

Christensen, Belva Andersen
OGDEN - Belva Andersen Christensen passed away suddenly on June 1, 2005 at the
McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden. Belva was born in Brigham City on April 21, 1932
a daughter of Alonzo and Margaret (Bassett) Andersen. She married Norman B.
Christensen July 2, 1952 in the Logan Temple. She graduated from Box Elder
High School in Brigham City in 1950 and attended Weber State and Utah State
University. She worked beside her husband, first in their Salt Lake City
floral business, Norman's Floral Arts, and later in their San Francisco Store,
The Greenhouse. Belva served in many church callings, from Relief Society
President to Nursery Leader. She also taught early morning seminary in her
former, Walnut Creek, California Ward. Children were her special interest.
Belva is survived by her husband, Norman Christensen of Providence, Utah, her
daughters, Lisa Christensen of Middletown, California and Cristina Christensen
Lawrence and husband, Paul, of Kaysville, Utah, and her s even grandchildren,
Melissa, Britton, Wyatt, Courtney, Sheridan, Ethan, and Christian. She is also
survived by her siblings and their spouses, Melvin and Patsy Andersen, Delpha
and Steve Baird, Faye Jeppson, Ralph and Margaret Andersen, Vertis and Sandra
Andersen, and Jean and Seth Jensen. She was preceded in death by her parents,
a sister, Carol Andersen, a niece, Mary Jeppson, a brother-in-law, Ralph
Jeppson, and two nephews, James and Robert Jeppson. Funeral services will be
held Monday, June 6, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. in the Fruitland Acres Ward building,
155 N. 100 East in Providence, Utah. A viewing will be held Sunday, June 5th
at Allen Hall Mortuary 34 E. Center St. in Logan from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and
one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Burial will be at the
Brigham City Cemetery, located at 3rd E. and 4th South Streets. Condolences

Cole, Evelyn S.
OGDEN - Evelyn Saunders Cole, 81, died Thursday, June 2, 2005 at a local care
center. She was born September 18, 1923 in Ogden, a daughter of George Martin
and Mary Elizabeth Willey Saunders. On September 14, 1943, Evelyn married
Leslie Albert Cole in Salt Lake City. She was raised and educated in Ogden
where she attended the public schools. She worked during World War II at
Defense Depot Ogden as part of the weapons productions assembly line. Evelyn
enjoyed sewing, craft projects and spending time with her family. Surviving
are her husband, Leslie, of Ogden; six sons and four daughters, James
(Marlene) Cole, Eden; Richard Cole and Michael (Connie) Cole, both of Ogden;
John (Teresa) Cole, North Ogden; Scott (Keri) Cole, Roy; Jeff (Julia) Cole,
North Ogden; Karen (Randy) Judkins, Layton; Joyce (Tom) Sparkes, Ogden; Carol
(Kelly) Hadley, Hooper; Lynda (Val) Swenson, South Ogden; 28 grandchildren and
20 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Myrtle Edna E mpy.
Evelyn was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters. Funeral
services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408
Washington Blvd., with Paul Tippets officiating. Friends may call at the
mortuary on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

Gleason, E. Eugene "Gene"
OGDEN - Ernest Eugene "Gene" Gleason, 89, our cherished husband, father and
grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home Thursday morning, June 2,
2005. He was born February 14, 1916 in Tremonton, Utah to Pearl and Perry
Gleason and enjoyed much of his youth in Garland and Ogden. His family later
moved to Pasadena, California. After graduating from South Pasadena High
School he went to work for Douglas Aircraft in California where he worked on a
special project building Amelia Earhart's airplane. He was a veteran of World
War II having enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942 where he served in the South
Pacific Theater as an Aviation Metal Smith, 1st Class, until he was honorably
discharged in December 1945. After his military service Gene returned to
California and married his sweetheart, Elizabeth A. Dreiser, in 1946 and in
1947 they were sealed in the Idaho Falls, Idaho LDS Temple. Gene spent most of
his career working for the US Postal Service as a railroad p ostal worker from
which he retired. He then went to work for Weber State University in
Shipping/Receiving until retiring. He loved his work and fellow associates.
Gene was a member of the Waterfall Canyon (41st) Ward for 36 years. Throughout
his life he served in numerous positions including two home missions,
scoutmaster, and greeter. He was also a dedicated home teacher. Gene made many
friends everywhere he went with his fun loving spirit and quick sense of
humor. His friendly smile opened many doors and hearts. It was a joy to just
be around him. He enjoyed music, football, tennis, golf, camping and
especially loved to travel. He enjoyed reading about history and was a great
storyteller himself, however, his greatest love and joy was clearly his
family. Surviving is his wife of Ogden; two sons and a daughter, Gregory E.
(Marcia) Gleason, Boise, ID; Christine "Teena" (Jim) Larkin, Ogden; Steven L.
(Gina) Gleason, Ogden; 11 grandchildren, two of whom are currently serving LDS
Missions in foreign lands, and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his
sister, Dorothy Merkley, of Santa Rosa, CA. He was preceded in death by his
parents and two brothers, Leslie and Ross Gleason. Funeral services will be
held Monday, June 6th at 11 a.m. at the Waterfall Canyon (41st) Ward Chapel,
3254 Polk Ave., with Jim Larkin officiating. Friends and family may call at
the Ward Chapel on Monday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services.
Interment, Ogden City Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded by the

Lauderman Jr., LeRoy
OGDEN - LeRoy Lauderman Jr. 77, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2005 at his home
surrounded by his loving family. LeRoy was born July 27, 1927 in Martinsville,
Indiana to William and May Etta Lauderman. LeRoy entered the Army/Air force in
1945 where he served a tour in Germany. He was then stationed at Norton AFB,
San Bernardino, CA. were he was a food service supervisor. Lee was stationed
in England and was then sent to Chanute AFB, he crossed trained to become a
B-52 Aircraft Crew Chief after a few months. He then returned to his original
food service position. He was a supervisor of Sac's Air Force Academy Food
Service. He was promoted to M Sgt which was his grade until he retired. While
stationed in CA. He met and married Barbara D. Chaffin on October 1950. They
were later divorced. In January of 1983 he married Carolyn Browning in Las
Vegas, NV. LeRoy was a member of the Professional Business Men Association of
San Bernardino, CA. He was a member of the Churc h of the Nazarene in Colton,
CA. Also in the American Legion and Ogden's V.F.W. He is survived by his
loving wife, Carolyn, two daughters Sharon Lee Miller (Richard) of Colfax, CA
and Rhonda Call (Bill) of Ogden, UT; step-sons, Frank (Ulaina) Browning and
David (Renee) Browning of Bloomington CA; grandchildren, Gregory, Jaclyn Sawka
of San Bernardino, CA; Jeffrey, Ashley and Chelsea of CA. also LeRoy's little
companion, his little dog, Trisha. He was preceded in death by his only son,
Paul William in 1975. The family would like to thank Hearts for Hospice staff
for their loving care and kindness to LeRoy and the family. In lieu of flowers
donation may be made to any V.F.W of your choice. A Graveside Service will be
held on Monday, June 6, 2005 at 1:30 pm at Camp Williams Veterans Cemetery in
Bluffdale, UT. Family and friends may call from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. at Aaron's

Olsen, Doug Edward
Doug Edward Olsen Our courageous Doug was finally released from a very
challenging life June 3, 2005. He was born August 11, 1963 to William Gail and
Dolores Elizabeth Thinnes Olsen in Ogden. Although his body was frail, he was
very intelligent and had a vast knowledge of many things. He was
affectionately known as Doug-E-Coyote Super Genius. He attended Roy High
School where he participated in Drama and Debate. He was a student of Weber
State and was a supplemental teacher for History and English. Among his
interests were cars, motorcycles, history and space. He had many hobbies, some
of which were riding motorcycles, listening to music and building models. He
belonged to the Intermountain Motorcycle Association and the Civil Air Patrol.
His favorite pastime was going for long rides with his mother. He had many
jobs and was proud to excel in all of them. He worked as a security guard for
Gibson Cryogenics, a cartographer for the Forest Service, and was most
recently a manager for Converg ys. Survived by his mother, Dolores. Three
brothers and four sisters, Gregory (Debbie), Ogden, Charlie (Pam), Pleasant
View, John (Evelyn), Ogden, Rolayne (Jeff) VanBuskirk, Dallas, Texas, Marcia
(Ken) Evans, Layton, Leslie (Craig) Bingham, Ogden, Julie (Mike) Schoonmaker,
Pleasant View. Uncles and Aunts Bud Wardle, Maurice and Margaret Thinnes, and
Darrell and Renee' Dixon. Many nephews and nieces who adored their Uncle Doug
and will always remember him dressed as Darth Vader. He had a great love for
all his uniquely named pets. Preceded in death by his father William.
Grandparents George T. and LizzieBelle Seegmiller Olsen and Zeno I. and Edith
L. Davidson Thinnes. He was an inspiration to all who knew him and will be
greatly missed. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, June 7, 2005 at 10 a.m. at
St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 514 24th St, Ogden. Friends may call at the
Larkin & Sons Mortuary 496 24th St., Ogden, Monday, from 6 to 8 p.m. with
rosary recited at 6 p.m. Interment, Ben Lomond (North Ogden) Cemetery. In lieu

Rampton, MaryElaine Ely
SYRACUSE - MaryElaine Ely Rampton passed away May 29, 2005. She was born
February 14, 1930, to Earle and Marjorie Huff Ely in Brush, Colorado. She
graduated from Brush High School in 1948 and was a foreign exchange student in
Italy. She received her Bachelor's degree from Colorado State. She worked for
the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Tuba City, Arizona with Hopi and Navajo
Indians; was a home demo agent for Mountain Fuel Supply in Salt Lake City and
Ogden; and taught Home Economics at Davis High and Elementary Education in
Davis County. She married Wallace B. Rampton on August 26, 1955; they have
three daughters. She was a member of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. She
was loved by everyone and always tried to help others. Surviving are her
husband, Wallace; daughters, Dorcas (Thomas) Stevens, Layton, UT, Jean (Max)
Johnson, Logan, UT, and Janet (Frank) Mays of Stuttgart, Germany; a
step-daughter, Alene Zufelt, Kohler, WI; 13 grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren; two brothers, Laurence Ely, Brush, CO, Don Ely, Sheep
Mountain Ranch, CO, and a sister, Doris Keefer, Denver, CO. Mass of Christian
Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 6, 2005 at St. Rose of Lima
Catholic Church, 210 S. Chapel, Layton, UT. Friends and family may call on

Roylance, Victor Storey
Victor Storey Roylance 5/17/11 - 6/3/05, 94, passed away Friday, June 03, 2005
at the home of his daughter. He was born in North Ogden May 17, 1911 to George
Newby and Margaret Storey Roylance. He was educated in Weber County schools,
playing football for Weber High School, Weber Academy and the University of
Utah. Victor was an engineer for the Union Pacific retiring in 1974. He was a
High Priest in the LDS Church. He taught a number of Sunday School classes and
was active in genealogical work. Together with his father and brothers, they
drilled many of the wells that are still supplying water to Northern Utah. He
married Grace Wolthuis on August 20, 1935 in the Logan LDS Temple. They are
the parents of five children: Sharon (Dee) Neuenschwander, Nancy (Ross) Olsen,
Paul (Linda) Roylance, Gay (Hugh) Bringhurst and Grant (Karen) Roylance. They
are grandparents of 21 and great-grandparents of 40. He was preceded in death
by his wife, parents, a sister, Norma, and two bro thers, Clyde and Richard.
He was a hard working and devoted husband and father who provided well for his
family, and will be missed by all who loved him. Funeral services are Monday,
June 6, at 1 p.m. at Myers Mortuary Chapel, 845 Washington, Blvd., Ogden,
Utah. There will be a viewing at Myers Mortuary on Sunday, June 5th from 6
until 8 p.m. and on Monday June 6th from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Interment
will be in the Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden, Utah. The family expresses
appreciation to Alpine Home Health Care and Hospice for their excellent care

Snow, Hugh Gordon
Hugh Gordon Snow, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather,
71, died June 3, 2005 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born
September 21, 1933 in Fallon, NV to Sterling and Meda Snow. He married Ann
Boll on February 7, 1956 in Logan, UT. Their marriage was later solemnized in
the Logan Temple. He attended Logan High and graduated from Utah State
University in Electrical Engineering. He retired from Hill Air Force Base
after 33 enjoyable years. He and Ann loved to go boating, backpacking,
camping, motorcycle touring, fishing and traveling. He became an expert at his
hobby of building and flying radio controlled airplanes. He and Ann have spent
many enjoyable hours at their winter home in Overton, NV. He was an active
member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served
faithfully in many positions. He will truly be missed by those he loved and
those that love him; his wife, Ann; children, Annette (Brent) Wade, Linda
(Seth) But terfield, Steven (Dixie) Snow, Holly (Curt Brown) Snow and brother,
Sterling Elliott Snow of Seattle, WA; 14 grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a half sister
and a grandson. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2005 at 11
a.m. at the Lorin Farr 5th Ward, 770 15th Street. Family and friends may call
on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and an hour prior to services at the ward.

Stimpson, Jonathan David Barson
Jonathan David Barson Stimpson 04-26-91 06-01-05 Our "Little Man" Jon Jon
completed his journey in this life on June 1st at Primary Children's Medical
Center. Jonathan valiantly fought a life long battle with physical illness.
His smile and inner light touched the lives of everyone he came in contact
with. He was an example of love and courage and all who knew him lived a
richer life because of his influence. Jonathan was adored by his four sisters
and brother. His favorite thing was to play with them. He loved to pull their
hair and spill their drinks. He enjoyed the outdoors, swinging, and riding
four-wheelers in the warmth of the sun. Jonathan loved to read with his
grandparents and his teacher Tina. He was full of energy and expressed a will
to live life regardless of his many challenges. His passion for living and
spirit of love will remain in our hearts forever. Jonathan and his family
would like to thank the many care-givers that so kindly provided countless
hours of service throughout his life. Jonathan is survived by: Parents Todd
and Tina Stimpson, and John and Julie Barson. Grandparents: Dave and Miriam
Stimpson, Elaine Woolsey, Donald Hamson, and Clyde and Jeanette Barson.
