in Erath County to Ernest and Georgie Taylor Lowery. He was raised in the area
and attended school in Hico. In 1938, the Lowery family moved to far West Texas.
Reece began working with his father on the F.O. Maston ranch in Lamb County. As
a young man, his gift for mechanical logic led him into the field of auto
mechanics. He quickly became a master mechanic and for many years not only
excelled in his life's work, he also mentored many young men, including his
sons, in the skill. Alberta Frances O'Dell Ellis Lowery became Reece's wife on
July 1, 1971, in Roswell, N.M. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to
Abilene and Reece continued his trade at Cantrell Cadillac. In January 1973,
Reece began to work for the civil service at Dyess Airbase in Abilene. As the
supervisor of the refueling and maintenance division, he continued to share his
mechanical knowledge and life skills with many of the young airmen. His warm and
generous spirit endeared him to the young people and he quickly came to be known
as "Grandpa." Reece and Alberta's home was filled with a stream of young troops
throughout his years at Dyess, often providing a surrogate home life for many of
them, complete with wise counsel and a sprinkling of gentle guidance. Reece was
twice named as Civilian of the Year for Dyess Airbase, and in 1997 he was named
Civilian of the Year for the 15th Air Force. He retired in 1999 after 25 and
one-half years of service. In September 2000, Reece and Alberta moved to San
Angelo. They settled on a small acreage near Grape Creek, and Reece delighted in
the land, raising a garden, planting an orchard and tending chickens. He was
filled with joy and awed by the beauty of nature, whether it was a gentle breeze
rustling through the pecan trees or a gentle rain followed by the rainbow. He
spoke often of how blessed he was by his Creator to see this beauty and to be
able to share it with his family and friends. Reece was preceded in death by his
parents, Ernest and Georgie Lowery; a sister, Edna Lowery Shipman; brother,

could return who now is gone. No use sitting brooding when you have to carry on.
No good merely wishing you'd been kinder or else stronger, that the quarrel
hadn't happened or the peace had lasted longer. That you'd done a little more or
that you'd frowned a little less in case a different action might have brought
more happiness. The past cannot be altered, but the future still remains. Live
and learn and try to turn your losses into gains." - This was a favorite verse
of Mother's since 1944.

amiga" I'm Free Don't grieve for me, for now I'm Free. I'm following the path
God Laid for me. I took his hand when I heard Him call. I turned my back and
left it all. I could not stay another day. To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Task left undone must stay that way. I found that peace at the close of day. If
my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship
shared, a laugh, a kiss Ah yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened
with times of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full,
I've savored much, Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch. Perhaps my
time seemed all to brief. Don't lengthen it now with undone grief. Lift up your
heart and share with me. God wanted me now; He set me free.

Putnam Funeral Home
KINGSLAND - Suanne Murphy (Sam) Quisenberry was called to her Lord Saturday, May
31, 2003, after a long fight with cancer. If you are reading this to find out
about someone who died, you are reading the wrong story. This is a story about
someone who lived. Suanne loved life and lived it to the fullest. From
Middletown, Conn., where she was born on Christmas Eve 1967, to the Sea of
Cortez, to the rain forests of Costa Rica, to wherever Jimmy Buffet was playing
and as often in her garden as from the back of a Harley or under the sea in full
scuba gear, Sam planted seeds of love and respect wherever she went. Those seeds
continue to grow in the hearts and lives of her family and friends and in all
the people she touched. A 1985 graduate of Memorial High School in McAllen,
Texas, Suanne married her husband, Larry Quisenberry, Sept. 30, 1995, in
Amarillo, Texas, and they happily shared their love for adventure for eight
wonderful years. Building a house and home with Larry in Florence, Texas, Suanne
was as comfortable with the house framing as she was sewing her own dresses,
both of which she did with the skill and determination of a true craftsman.
Suanne shared her love for God's creation with Larry, teaching him how to
appreciate a Texas sunset, as well as a rainy day, just for the beauty they
held. Suanne (Sam) will continue to live in the hearts and memories of her
family and friends and will be remembered for her infectious laugh and a radiant
smile that was often accompanied by a very mischievous wink. Suanne was preceded
in death by her father, George Murphy. She is survived by her husband, Larry
Quisenberry of Florence, Texas; her mother, Jane L'Hommedieu of Araphaho, N.C.;
two brothers, Danny and Jimmy; one sister, Amy; many nieces and nephews; and
enough friends to fill a Texas high school football stadium on a fall Friday
night. Her light in the world will be missed by all. A memorial service will be
at 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, at CrossPointe Church, 5703 McNeil Drive, Austin,
Texas. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to either MD Anderson
Cancer Center of Houston, Texas, or VistaCare Hospice of Temple, Texas.
