   She  was  born  Aug. 16, 1920, in Loeb and had been a resident of Kerr

   Lovington, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, in Kingsland.

   Home.
   
   She  was  born  June  19,  1905,  in  Lone  Pine, Ark., and had been a
   longtime  resident  of Lovington before moving to Kingsland. She was a
   retired teacher and a member of the First United Methodist Church.
   
   Survivors  include  a  son,  Dr.  Harlan  C.  Pannell  of Kingsland; a
   daughter,  Ruth  Robertson  of Kingsland; a brother, Tom King of Santa
   Barbara,  Calif.;  a  sister,  Margaret  Stalnacker  of  Lubbock; nine

   He  was  born  Jan.  25,  1914,  in Lampasas County and was a longtime

   She was born Sept. 11, 1907.

   and was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Coahoma.

   Benjamin  Herrera  of  Costa  Rica, George Herrera of Coahoma and Joey

   He  was born Sept. 6, 1955, in Big Spring and was a lifetime resident.

                           ETHEL WATTERS MITCHELL
                                      
   Ethel  Watters  Mitchell  passed  away  Sunday,  Jan. 23, 2000, in San
   Angelo.
   
   Funeral  service  will  be  at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, in Johnson's
   Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Andrews officiating. Graveside
   service  will  be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, in Cedar Grove Cemetery
   in Sanderson.
   
   Ethel  was born Sept. 8, 1903, near Sonora, Sutton County. She was the
   eldest  child  of W.L. Watters and Jenny Pricilla Sellman Watters. She
   attended  public schools in Ozona and attended Howard Payne College in
   Brownwood.
   
   On  Dec. 7, 1922, Ethel married William C. Mitchell in Ozona, Crockett
   County.  They ranched in Crockett County until 1928 when they moved to
   a  Pecos  County  ranch.  Later  they  moved to the Trent ranch, Pecos
   County,  and  ranched  there  until  their retirement in January 1961.
   Ethel  and  Bill lived in Sanderson for two years before moving to San
   Angelo, where they lived the rest of their lives.
   
   Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill Mitchell
   in 1984; a grandson, William Mitchell Kerr in 1957; a brother, Sellman
   Watters; and a sister, Bernice Watters Friend of Fort Davis.
   
   Ethel  was  a  devoted Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker
   and  loyal friend. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of San
   Angelo,  the  Elizabeth Sunday School Class, the John Brick Chapter of
   Colonial  Dames,  Pocahontas  Chapter of the Daughters of the American
   Revolution,  Daughters  of  the  Republic  of  Texas and a member of a
   Literary Review Club.
   
   Survivors  include one son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Flo Mitchell
   of  Fort  Stockton and one daughter and son-in-law, Rosella and Edward
   Kerr  of  San  Angelo.  Grandchildren  are  Jamie and Judy Mitchell of
   Midland,  SuSu  and Wayne Dyess of Fort Stockton, Rosalie Kerr Johnson
   of  Houston,  Hudson  and Maggie Kerr of Sanderson, Jeanette and Wayne
   Zachary  of  El  Paso, Tim and Beth Kerr of San Angelo and Tom and Amy
   Kerr of San Angelo.
   
   Also  surviving  are  11  great-grandchildren;  one sister, Mrs. Cliff
   (Rachel)  Dickerson  of  Renton, Wash.; one brother, Robert Watters of
   Kent,  Wash.;  and  four  nieces,  Mrs.  Ray  (Mary) Fitzgerald of San
   Angelo, Mrs. Joe McWhorter of Auburn, Wash., Mrs. Delton (Ann) Holcomb
   of Molalla, Ore., and Mrs. Rebecca Weldon of Seattle, Wash.
   
   Pallbearers  are  Jamie  Mitchell,  Wayne  Dyess,  Hudson  Kerr, Wayne
   Zachary, Tim Kerr, Tom Kerr and Ray Fitzgerald.

   BRADY  -  Ida  Owens, 88, of Brady went to be with her Lord on Monday,
   Jan.  24,  2000.  Service  will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, in the
   Heritage  Funeral  Home  Chapel.  Interment  will follow in Rest Haven
   Cemetery and Rusty Kwast will officiate.
   
   Ida  was  born  Nov. 22, 1911, to Henry and Viola (Cousins) Wolfrum in
   Coleman.  She  married  Henry Owens on Oct. 4, 1930, in Coleman and he
   preceded her in death on Nov. 4, 1992. Living in Brady for most of her
   life,  Ida  was a homemaker and a member of the Sunset Ridge Church of
   Christ.
   
   Survivors  include  five  sons, Benton Owens and his wife, Barbara, of
   Red  Rock, Troy Owens and his wife, Berta, of Austin, Donald Owens and
   his  wife,  Juanice,  of  Brady, R.D. Owens and his wife, Grayleen, of
   Valley  Springs  and  Harold ``Peanut'' Owens and his wife, Cherri, of
   Brady;    15    grandchildren;   29   great-grandchildren;   and   two
   great-great-grandchildren.
   
   Her  parents;  four brothers, Doc, Glenn, Dick and Marvin Wolfrum; and
   twin daughters, Barbara Ann and Betty Nan, also preceded her in death.
   
   Family  visitation  will  be  from  6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, at
   Heritage Funeral Home.

   SONORA  - Odessa Wilson Fields, 85, passed away Monday, Jan. 24, 2000,
   in Sonora.
   
   Service  will  be  at  2  p.m.  Thursday, Jan. 27, at the First United
   Methodist Church with the Rev. Suzanne Steves officiating. Burial will
   follow in Sonora Cemetery. Arrangements are by Kerbow Funeral Home.
   
   Mrs.  Fields  was  born Oct. 6, 1914, in Menard. Her ancestors came to
   Texas  prior  to  the  Texas Revolution. She was a member of the First
   United  Methodist  Church  in Sonora, was the owner of the former Park
   Inn Cafe and assisted her late husband in ranching activities.
   
   She  was  preceded  in  death by her husband, John David Fields Sr. in
   1985.
   
   She is survived by their two children, Betty Smith and husband, David,
   of  Rockport  and  John  David Fields and wife, Sandy, of Sonora; four
   granddaughters,  Lesa  and  Charles  King  of  Mountain Home, Beth and
   Robert  Irwin  of  Cedar Park, Fara Lyne and Jason Smith of San Angelo
   and  Ricki  Fields  of  Georgetown;  one  grandson,  John  A. Smith of
   Jacksonville,  Fla., along with four great-grandsons; one sister, Eola
   Ory  of  Oklahoma; two special friends, Gail Eppler and Tina Appo; and
   numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
   
   Pallbearers  will  be  Joe Fincher, Bill Webster, Pascal Allison, John
   Wade,  Smith  Neal  and  George  Keese.  Honorary pallbearers are Dick
   McCalmont,  Johnny  Fields,  Alvis  Johnson,  Robert  Wilson  Jr., Jim
   Cusenbary, Jerry Kemp, Andy Moore, Pat Jungk and Rocky Jones.

                             MAJOR WILLIAM PENN
   
   AUSTIN - Major William Penn, USAF retired, age 79, died Saturday, Jan.
   22, 2000.
   
   Graveside  service  will be held at 1:15 p.m Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000,
   in  Fort  Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio. Interment will
   follow  in  Fort  Sam  Houston  National Cemetery. Arrangements are by
   Cook-Walden Funeral Home, Lamar location.
   
   He is survived by a brother, Robert L. Penn.
   
                                WILLIE ORSAK
   
   Willie Orsak, 73, of Clyde passed away Monday, Jan. 24, 2000.
   
   Service  will  be  at  2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, at Johnson's Funeral
   Home  with  the  Rev.  Don  Bailey  officiating. Burial will follow in
   Belvedere Memorial Park.
   
   Willie  was  born  April  22,  1926,  in  Schulenburg  to Jim and Emma
   Olsovsky  Orsak.  His parents and a brother, Jerry Orsak, preceded him
   in death.
   
   Willie, being a new resident of Clyde, was originally from San Angelo.
   He was a welder by trade, retiring from Green's Texas Tank Works.
   
   Survivors  include  his  daughter,  Penny Dunham and husband, Todd, of
   Clyde;  four  brothers,  Alfonse  Orsak  of  Mabank,  Alfred  Orsak of
   Virginia  Beach,  Va., Raymond Orsak and wife, Betty, and Julius Orsak
   and  wife, Elizabeth, all of San Angelo; two sisters, Frances Thomason
   and  husband,  Garner, and Edith Hudec and husband, Jessie, all of San
   Angelo;  two  granddaughters,  Amber and Lacy Dannheim of Clyde; seven
   nieces; five nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
   
                                 LEE WARMAN
   
   Lee  Warman,  65,  of  San  Angelo died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, at his
   residence.
   
   Service  will  be  at  10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, in Johnson's Funeral
   Home  Chapel  with  the Rev. Chester McCown of Trinity Lutheran Church
   officiating. Burial will follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
   
   Mr.  Warman  was  born  Feb. 14, 1934, in Wilmington, Ohio. He was the
   owner of Lee's Muffler and Transmission for more than 30 years.
   
   He  is  survived  by his wife, Emma Lois Spieker Warman of San Angelo;
   one  daughter  and  son-in-law,  Sharon  and  Ford Warick; one son and
   daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Gloria Warman; three grandchildren Savanna
   Warick,  Shelby  Warick  and  Sawyer  Warick,  all  of San Angelo; one
   brother,  Russell  Warman  of  De  Mossville, Ky.; two sisters, Geneva
   Enzweiler  of  Sardinia,  Ohio,  and  Margie  Ditch of Wilmington; and
   numerous nieces and nephews.
   
   Pallbearers  will  be  John  Jacobs, Eugene Ball, Russell Stooksberry,
   Grady  Goolsby, Freddy Spieler and Ed Harris. Honorary pallbearer will
   be Roland Atkinson.
   
   Memorials may be made to Hospice of San Angelo.
   
                               LOUIS G. STURM
   
   BIG  SPRING - Louis G. Sturm, 78, of Big Spring died Tuesday, Jan. 25,
   2000, in a local hospital.
   
   Funeral  service  will  be  at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, at Immaculate
   Heart of Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Chris Coleman officiating.
   Interment will follow in Trinity Memorial Park.
   
   He  was born April 15, 1921, in Rowena and married Evangeline Rohmfeld
   Dec.  24, 1944, in Bryan. He had moved to the Luther Community in 1955
   from  the  Norton  Community  and  had farmed there until retiring two
   years  ago.  Mr.  Sturm  attended  Immaculate  Heart  of Mary Catholic
   Church. He had served in the U.S. Army as a mechanic.
   
   Survivors  include  his  wife,  Evangeline  Sturm of Big Spring; three
   daughters and sons-in-law, Anna and Joe Eubank of Centerville, Rose M.
   and  Greg  Smith  of  Big Spring and Carol and John Phillips of Garden
   City;  two  sons  and  daughters-in-law,  Wayne and Charlotte Sturm of
   Weatherford  and  Gary  and Lesia Sturm of Big Spring; one brother and
   sister-in-law,  Henry  and  Rosalie  Sturm  of San Angelo; 10 sisters,
   Josephine  Schwertner,  Emma Kruppa, Frieda Jansa and husband, Albert,
   Lorene  Cmerek  and husband, Victor, Julia Rohmfeld and Florine Odell,
   all  of  San  Angelo, Tillie Mosely and Jerline ``Patsy'' Rohmfeld and
   husband,  Ray,  all  of Ballinger, Dorine Matthiesen of Sugar Land and
   Rosa  Schwertner  and  husband, Andrew, of Rowena; two sisters-in-law,
   Olga Sturm and Agnes Sturm, both of Rowena; one brother-in-law, Alfred
   Schwertner  of Melvin; 13 grandchildren, John Barkley of Houston, Mark
   Barkley  and  Michael  Barkley, both Midland, Brad Smith, Nathan Smith
   and  Crystal  Sturm,  all  of  Big Spring, Chris Smith of San Antonio,
   Jenny  Carr  of  Sudan,  Jason  Phillips of Garden City, Paul Sturm of
   Arlington,  Bryan  Sturm  and Eric Sturm, both Weatherford, and Angela
   Sturm  of  College Station; three great-grandchildren, Courtnie Smith,
   Keaton Sturm and Channing Sturm; and numerous nieces and nephews.
   
   He  was  preceded  in  death by his parents, Paul and Josephine Pelzel
   Sturm;  two  brothers, Fred Sturm and Richard Sturm; and four sisters,
   Louise Schwertner, Helen Matthiesen, Mary Angeline Sturm and Elizabeth
   Sturm.
   
   The  family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26,
   at the funeral home.
