			RUBY FULLAGAR ROSS

BRADY - Ruby Fullagar Ross, 85, of Brady passed away Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998,
in a peaceful setting at the family lake house, located on the shores of Lake
Travis near Austin, a place Ruby dearly loved. Ruby Lucille Ludwick was born
Nov. 24, 1912, to Lenard Melvin Ludwick and Lillian Harriet Paulus in Willow
City, Gillespie County, Texas. She moved to Pear Valley with her mother,
father, sister, Floy, and brother, Melvin, in 1916. The trip to McCulloch
County was made sitting beside her mother, who was driving a two-seat hack
with fringe on top. Her mother and father began farming in the Pear Valley
area, and in 1917 her first cousin, Thurston McAnelly, 12 years old, came to
live with them after his mother died. As a youth, Ruby was active in 4-H work,
raising and showing calves and sewing dresses and entering competitions. In
1929, Ruby won the senior 4-H dress competition in Brady, which sent her to
the next level of competition at Texas A&M University. Ruby's first train
experience was the ride from Brownwood to College Station to compete in the
state senior dress competition. In 1934, Ruby exhibited a calf at the
McCulloch County Stock Show and was the first 4-H youth to win Grand Champion.
In the spring of 1934, Ruby went on to the Houston Stock Show with her calf,
bred on the Jamie Brook Ranch, to win not only the Champion of the Herefords,
Champion of the Senior Division and Champion of the Open Classes, but also the
Grand Champion of the entire show. Ruby married Samuel Fullagar on Sept. 23,
1934, and they had four children, Shirley, Ann, Joan and Leonard. Ruby, Samuel
and the four children lived on one of the Fullagar Farms near Lohn, where
Samuel was a successful stock farmer. On June 29, 1976, Samuel passed away,
and Ruby continued to live on one of the Fullagar Farms. On Oct. 4, 1984, she
married E.L. Ross, a farmer in the Lohn community and a teacher who had taught
school at Lohn and then at Brady until his retirement from teaching. In
addition to her role as wife and mother, Ruby was talented in so many ways,
especially in cooking, cake decoration and sewing. But her talents went beyond
the home to include community and civic involvement. She served on committees
and boards of numerous organizations and was often an officer. These
organizations included the McCulloch County Museum, the Lohn PTA, the Lohn
Valley Improvement Association, the Lohn Family Cemetery Association, the
Sorosis Club and the Heart of Texas Hospital Auxiliary, as well as many
others. Ruby was a member of Sunset Ridge Church of Christ. Survivors include
her husband, E.L. Ross of Brady; daughters and their husbands, Shirley and
Brad Ellis of Austin, Ann and Larry Walker of Lohn and Joan and David Quillin
of Deer Creek, Okla.; sons and their wives, Leonard and Randy Fullagar of Mill
Creek, Okla., and Jim and Karen Ross of Lohn; sister, Floy Faulkner of

Creek, Michael Quillin of Deer Creek, Gregory Quillin of Denton, Julie Walker
of Fort Worth, Tiffany McNiel of Fort Worth, Scott Fullagar of Dallas, Montana

Lovan of Steelville, Mo., and Jo Spivey of Lampasas; nephews, Roy Ludwick of
Dallas and Jerry Ludwick of Oklahoma City; great-grandchildren, Aryn Dean and
Zack Dean, both of Deer Creek; and her special friend, Happy Cat. Service will
be at 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, inLeatherwood Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with

members best remember Ruby for her nurturing love and enduring friendship.
They are requesting that family and friends wishing to show their respects do
so by making a memorial contribution to the Lohn Valley Improvement
Association. The Lohn Valley was a special place where Ruby lived, made

			HEATHER CHARISE HARRIS

Heather Charise Harris, 6, moved to her heavenly home to be with her Lord and
Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 1998. Heather was born Dec. 12,
1991, in Rankin. She weighed one pound six ounces and was 12 inches long. Even
though doctors continued to tell us she would die, she continued to show the
power of God against all odds and the great strength He had bestowed on her.
Heather was always a very happy little girl even in the midst of adversity and
taught everyone who came into contact with her the power of faith in God, the
importance of joy and the love of God that can get you through anything.
Heather loved the Lord with all her heart as well as everyone she ever met.
She loved to praise and worship and go to church, and she loved to pray and be
prayed for. God gave her the important job of showing people the love of God
and teaching them the importance of relying on Him for everything. She took
her job seriously and many people's lives were touched and changed because of
her. Heather went through many things, things that would have caused many of
us to give up and quit. She had eye surgery, heart surgery, a lung collapse, a
fundo plication, a feeding button put in, her tonsils out, her adenoids out
twice, a tracheostomy, a fusaport (that had to be removed because her skin
would not heal over it), her hips broken and put in place, her hamstrings
lengthened and oral surgery. She had numerous bouts with pneumonia and
sometimes spent months in ICU. Heather attended school at Reagan Elementary
School and loved school very much. She loved music, swimming, playing with her
brother Blake, her sister Holly, her grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins,
as well as her teachers, friends and classmates. She loved listening to
stories about Jesus and the Bible, going for rides in the car, riding carnival
rides and anything that made neat noises. Mostly though, she loved people and
being talked to and held. She liked to be dressed up, have her hair done and
her fingernails painted (like all little girls do). No man took Heather's life
from her, she willingly laid it down. She was not sick. She went peacefully in
her sleep at home in her own bed. She is survived by her mother and father,
Emily and Bill Harris; her brother and sister, Blake Aaron Harris and Holly
Anne Harris; her grandfathers, Lee Anthony Rhodes, William Carl Mallard, Oscar
Harris, David Adams and Andrew Taylor; her grandmothers, Gaye Adams and Leann
Taylor; her uncles, Tony Harris and Christopher Rhodes; her aunts, Tanna
Deloria and Tammy Rhodes; and her cousins, James Austin Harris and Dakota Lynn
Rhodes. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, in Johnson's
Funeral Home Chapel with graveside service in Fairmount Cemetery. Mack Porter
will preside over both services. There will be much celebrating for Heather at
both services and at a noon gathering afterward in the Fort Concho Elementary
School cafeteria. The public may attend. A fund has been set up at Texas State
Bank in Heather's name to help her family with the numerous expenses. Come
celebrate with Heather and her family as we rejoice her new life, health and
abilities.
