   EDNA MANN EDWARDS

                        SEPT. 23, 1948-FEB. 21, 1997

AUSTIN - The life of Edna Mann Edwards was taken from her violently on
Feb. 21, 1997, in Austin, Texas. She was 48 years old. Edna grew up in
Baltimore, Md.; her ashes were buried there after a memorial service
on March 15 at the Jarretsville United Methodist Church.

Edna came to Texas in 1981 as the wife of Big Lake attorney Aubrey
Edwards. While in Big Lake, she served on the Big Lake City Council,
was president of the 20th Century Club and earned a bachelor's degree
in psychology at Angelo State University. She was very active in the
leadership of the Big Lake United Methodist Church; one of the
positions she held was Sunday school superintendent. Edna was an
award-winning gardener and enjoyed golfing and bowling.

After her divorce in 1991, she moved to San Angelo, where she worked
for MHMR and continued her masters studies at ASU. She moved to Austin
in the fall of 1995, where she worked at the Private Industries
Council, helping people get the training they needed to qualify for
   and obtain new jobs.

Edna Edwards was a vivacious, charming and loving person. She made
friends wherever she was, and she nurtured and treasured those
friendships. Her working life was devoted to helping others. Edna
believed in the goodness of people and would never accept that one of
her friends could harm her; this belief probably cost her her life.
Edna Edwards will be missed and always remembered by the many Texans
whose lives she touched and who were blessed by her friendship and
   love.
