Linda  Gifford,  51, of San Angelo died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 1996, in a
local hospital.

Service  will  be  at 3 p.m. Friday at the First Christian Church with
the  Rev.  Ben  Hubert  officiating.  Burial  will follow in Lawnhaven
Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home.

She  was born Dec. 15, 1944, in Park Hill, Okla. She had been a school
teacher.

Survivors  include three daughters, (names obmitted) Robin Gifford of
San Angelo; her mother, Velma  Hutson of  Tahlequah,  Okla.; four
sisters, Flora Merritt of Oklahoma City, Mary Halpain of Tahlequah,
Viola Welch of Tulsa, Okla., and  Barbara  Shawver  of Siloam Springs,
Ark.; three brothers, Barney Hutson  of  Tulsa,  Gene  Hutson  of
Tahlequah, and Ronald Hutson of Cookson, Okla.; and numerous nieces and
nephews.

Sallie Chriesman

Sallie Chriesman, 73, of San Angelo died Thursday, Nov. 21, 1996, in a
local nursing center.

Graveside  service  will  be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Fairmount Cemetery
with  the Rev. Craig Meyers officiating. Arrangements are by Gutierrez
Funeral Chapels.

She  was  born  June 25, 1923, in Ypsilanti, Mich., and was a longtime
resident of San Angelo.

Survivors  include  two  daughters, Barbara Marrucca of Neptune, N.J.,
and  Kathleen  Chriesman of Houston; an adopted daughter, Josie Whaley
of San Angelo; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Wilbur Sage

Wilbur  L.  Sage, 76, of San Angelo died Thursday, Nov. 21, 1996, in a
local nursing home.

Masonic  graveside  service  will  be  at 10 a.m. Saturday in Easthill
Cemetery  in Fort Stockton with A.D. Jackson officiating. Arrangements
are by Johnson's Funeral Home.

He was born Dec. 6, 1919, in Cisco. He was a retired farmer and a 32nd
Degree Mason.

Survivors  include  his  wife,  Rita  B. Sage of San Angelo; two sons,
Dwayne  Sage  of  San  Angelo  and  Charley  Sage  of Fort Stockton; a
daughter,  Desiree  Sage  of  San  Angelo;  four  grandchildren; and a
great-grandson.

Frederico Gonzales

FORT  STOCKTON  -  Federico  Jesus ``Jesse'' Gonzales Jr., 21, of Fort
Stockton died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 1996, in a Midland hospital.

Rosary  will  be at 7 p.m. today in Fort Stockton Funeral Home Chapel.
Service  will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with
burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

He  was  born  April  27,  1975,  in  Fort Stockton and was a lifetime
resident. He worked as a roughneck for a drilling company.

Survivors  include his parents, Jesse and Tina Gonzales, two brothers,
Jeffrey  Gonzales  and  Jason Carrillo and a sister, Abigail Carrillo,
all  of  Fort  Stockton;  and  his  grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Eugenio
Barron and Mr. and Mrs. Augustin Velasquez Sr., all of Fort Stockton.

Lillian Kolb

BRADY - Lillian G. Kolb, 89, died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 1996, in an Austin
care center.

Service  will  be  at  1 p.m. Saturday in Leatherwood Colonial Funeral
Home Chapel with burial in Rest Haven Cemetery.

She was born March 19, 1907, in Mississippi and had been a resident of
Brady  since  1968. She was a hairdresser, a homemaker and a member of
the First Baptist Church.

Survivors  include  a  son, Dr. David A. Kolb, a grandson, Aaron Kolb,
and a granddaughter, Samantha Kolb, all of Austin.

Pauline Sharp

ODESSA  -  Pauline Sharp, 85, died Monday, Nov. 18, 1996, in a Midland
hospital.

Service  was  Thursday  in  the Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with
burial in Sunset Memorial Park.

She  was  born  Dec.  25,  1910,  in  Richland  Springs and had been a
resident of Odessa since 1954. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

Survivors  include  two sons, Jesse Sharp of Odessa and Hiram Sharp of
Levelland;  a  daughter, Helen Norman of Pearland; three brothers, Jim
Herron of Junction, Morris Herron of Valley Center, Kan., and Burleson
Herron  of  San  Angelo;  a sister, Dortha Plum of Wichita Falls; five
grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Chester Jones

BIG  SPRING  -  Chester  Jones,  74, of Odessa died Thursday, Nov. 21,
1996, in a local hospital.

Graveside  service  will  be  at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Sunset Memorial
Gardens. Arrangements are by Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.

He  was  born Sept. 6, 1922, in Coleman County and had been a resident
of  Big Spring for four years. An Army veteran of World War II, he was
an  electrician  and worked for Phillips 66 in Odessa for 12 years. He
was a member of the Bethel Assembly of God in Odessa.

Survivors  include  two  daughters,  Georgia Park of Grand Prairie and
Mary   Ann   McBride   of   Arlington;   five   grandchildren;  and  a
great-grandchild.

Carley Farr

LAMPASAS  - Carley Jean Farr, infant daughter of Ron and Jean Ann Farr
of Lampasas, died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 1996, in a Killeen hospital.

Graveside   service  will  be  at  10  a.m.  today  in  Nix  Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Sheppard Memorial Funeral Home.

Carley Jean was born Nov. 20, 1996, in Killeen.

Survivors  include her parents, two sisters, Haylee Ann Farr and Emily
Von  Farr, and her maternal grandparents, Vonnie and Jo Tucker, all of
Lampasas; and her paternal grandmother, Violet Farr of Eden.

EMILY KATHERINE WULFF

AUSTIN  - Emily Katherine Wulff, a native of Brady and longtime Austin
resident, died Thursday, Nov. 21, 1996, after a three-year battle with
cancer. She was 45.

Throughout her illness, Katherine demonstrated an amazing strength and
grace  that  touched  everyone  who knew her. She was cherished by her
family and a widespread group of friends, many of whom gathered around
her in her final days and sustained her family with a love that seemed
boundless.  Her  family will never forget that. Her legacy survives in
the  beauty  and  strength of her children and in the love she gave to
everyone around her.

Katherine was born in Brady on Jan. 25, 1951, the daughter of Fred and
Emily  Wulff  and  the  sister  of Bart Wulff. She came from a pioneer
ranching  family in McCulloch County, and her roots in the land and in
Texas  ran deep. Her father, a Brady rancher and lawyer, was president
of  the Texas and Southwestern Cattleraisers' Association in the early
1960s.

She  was  the  great-great-granddaughter  of Anton Frederick Wulff, an
early  San Antonio merchant and banker who built the King William-area
Wulff  house,  now  the  headquarters  of the San Antonio Conservation
Society.  Katherine's  great  uncle  was  G. Rollie White, a prominent
Texas  cattleman  of  the  early  part  of  this century who served as
chairman of the board of regents at Texas A&M University.

Survivors  include  her  husband,  D.  Michael McCullar, son, David F.
McCullar,  daughter,  Emily  Katherine  McCullar,  and  mother-in-law,
Kathleen  Brett  McCullar,  all  of Austin; and her brother, Frederick
Bartlett   Wulff,   sister-in-law,  Bonnie  Wulff,  nephew,  Frederick
Bartlett  Wulff  Jr., and aunt, Martha Sargent and uncle, Bob Sargent,
all of Dallas.

Service  will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at the Episcopal Church
of  the  Good  Shepherd  in  Austin  with  the  Rev.  Anne Knight Hoey
officiating.  Graveside service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday in Live Oak
Cemetery in Brady.

The  family  requests  that  donations  be  made to the Susan G. Komen
Breast  Cancer  Foundation,  5005  LBJ  Freeway, Suite 370, Dallas, TX

CHARLES WEBB

ROTAN  -  Charles  Webb, 83, of Roby passed away Wednesday night, Nov.
20, 1996, in the West Coke County Nursing Home in Robert Lee.

Service  will  be  at  2  p.m.  Saturday,  Nov. 23, in the Weathersbee
Funeral  Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Patterson officiating. Burial
will follow in the Roby Cemetery.

Mr.  Webb  was  born  Sept. 30, 1913, in Sylvester to the late Mr. and
Mrs.  Charles R. Webb Sr. He graduated from Roby High School and was a
lifelong resident of Fisher County. Mr. Webb served on the Roby School
Board  from 1943 to 1953, serving as president of the school board for
several  years. He was a member of Roby First Methodist Church and was
also a member of the church board. Mr. Webb was a retired farmer and a
member of the Masonic Lodge.

He  is  survived  by two daughters and their husbands, Marilyn and Joe
White   of   Lubbock  and  Lynda  and  Jimmie  Laurie  of  Roby;  five
grandchildren,  Jemmye Johnson and Jill Craig, both of Hamlin, Charlyn
Clauson  of  Wamego, Kan., D'Aun Chapa of Lubbock and Charlie White of
League  City; eight great-grandchildren, Loryn Clauson, Tyson and Tana
Chapa, Riley and Brenna White, Jake Johnson and Josh and Clay Craig.

He  was  preceded  in  death  by a brother, Layton Webb, and a sister,
Lucille Webb.

GARLAND RAY HAZLE

Garland Ray Hazle, 61, of San Angelo died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 1996, at
his home.

Graveside  service  will  be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, in Belvedere
Memorial  Park with the Rev. Roger Roenfeldt officiating. Arrangements
are by Johnson's Funeral Home.

Garland  was born Jan. 27, 1935, in Lorenzo. He served in the Army and
Navy.

Daddy  had  a  full  life driving cross country and locally as a truck
driver.  His  joys  in  life  were  his grandchildren Ushawna, Raylon,
Dylan, Garrett, Jessica, Trey, Michael, Kiarra and Lyndsee.

Survivors  include his wife, Jackie, of San Angelo; three sons and two
daughters-in-law,  Alan,  Terry  and  Gina  of  Oklahoma and David and
Samantha  of  California; one daughter and son-in-law, Carla and Troy;
one  brother, Thomas Calvin and wife, Cathy, of Granbury; and numerous
cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

The  family  would like to thank all of the wonderful people of Family
Hospice, especially Bob Vincent.

LOIS ERLINE DAVIS

TAHOKA  -  Lois  Erline  Davis, 75, of Tahoka died Wednesday, Nov. 20,
1996, in a Denton hospital.

Service  will  be  at  10:30  a.m.  Saturday, Nov. 23, at Sweet Street
Baptist  Church  with  burial in Nevills Cemetery. Arrangements are by
White's Funeral Home.

Lois was born April 19, 1921, in Lamesa and was a longtime resident of
San Angelo before moving to Tahoka. She married Cecil Monroe Davis Sr.
on  March  18,  1939, in O'Donnell. She was employed by the San Angelo
Independent School District for a number of years.

She  was  preceded  in death by her parents, William A.S. Williams and
Elizabeth Sandlin Williams; one son, Jimmy Curtis Davis of San Angelo;
and one grandson, Charles Monroe Davis of Sanger.

Survivors  include  her husband, Cecil Monroe Davis Sr. of Tahoka; two
sons, Cecil Monroe Davis Jr. of Pilot Point and Clois Ray Davis of San
Angelo;  three  brothers, R.A. Williams of Abilene, Jessie Williams of
Trail,  Ore., and Terrell C. Williams of Lockhart; two sisters, Gladys
Ivy and Mable Spruiell, both of Tahoka; two granddaughters, Cindy Slay
of  Pilot  Point  and  Mindy  Davis  Kerr  of  Collinsville; and three
great-grandchildren, Amanda, Dallas and Logan.

Family members will serve as pallbearers.

MARGARET WINDHAM GUNTER

Margaret  Windham Gunter, 88, of San Angelo died at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday,
Nov. 19, 1996, at her home.

Service  will  be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 22, at First Presbyterian
Church,  officiated  by  Dr.  Ron Sutto, pastor. Burial will follow in
Fairmount Cemetery. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home.

Margaret  was born April 1, 1908, in Italy, Texas, to Charles and Mary
(Sullivan)  Windham.  She married William M. Gunter April 24, 1932. He
preceded her in death on Feb. 14, 1983.

Margaret  was a loyal and faithful member of First Presbyterian Church
and was a member of the Elizabeth Wood Sunday School Class.

Survivors  include  her  children, Dr. Charles Alvis Gunter of El Paso
and  Mary  Gunter  Beeman  of  San Angelo; seven grandchildren, Elaine
Frances   Gunter,  Katherine  Ann  Palafox,  William  Buckner  Gunter,
Elizabeth  Anne  Beeman,  Kristi Lynn Beeman, Bryan Charles Gunter and
Erika Gayle Gunter; two great-grandchildren, William Palafox and Maria
Palafox;  and  two  sisters, Helen Hamilton of Ballinger and Katherine
Harris of Ruston, La.

Pallbearers  will  be  Melvin  Eckerman, William Gunter, Bryan Gunter,
Kenneth Gunter, John Jost and Buddy Tawater. Honorary pallbearers will
be Lewis Seibert, Fred Conn and Raymond Pipkin.

The  family  requests  that  any  memorials  be made to the West Texas
Rehabilitation Center or the First Presbyterian Church.

FRANCES HENLEY PIERCEY

Frances  Henley  Piercey  went to be with her Lord on Monday, Nov. 18,
1996, following a long illness.

A wake service will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, at Johnson's Funeral
Home  with Father Maurice Voity and Monsignor Larry Droll officiating.
She  will  be laid to rest next to her best friend and beloved sister,
Joe  Ann Smith. Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23,
in Fairview Cemetery in Gainsville, Texas.

She was born on Jan. 4, 1926, in Murray, Ky., to the late Melvin Brent
and  Cloteil  McReynolds  Henley. Frances was a loving, giving person.
She  was loved and respected by all who knew her. She especially loved
being   around  children,  dedicating  her  life  to  teaching.  After
receiving  her  master's  degree  from  Memphis  State University, she
taught  in  Jackson, Tenn., for many years. She was a principal in the
Catholic  school system, including St. Luke Catholic School in Irving,
Angelo Catholic Schools and St. Mary Catholic School in Gainsville.

Frances  is  survived by her son, Tony Piercey and his wife, Brigitte;
two  grandchildren,  Brent and Lauren Piercey, both of San Angelo; her
brother,  Dr. Melvin Henley and his wife, Rita Henley, of Murray, Ky.;
her niece, Michelle Burke and her husband, Ken Burke, of Santa Monica,
Calif.; and many loving friends who will miss her so much.

The   family   requests  memorials  be  given  to  the  American  Lung
Association or to a charity benefiting the education of all children.

May the hand of the Lord Jesus Christ shelter all.

   She was born Feb. 1, 1897, in Foss, Oklahoma Territory, Okla., and had
   been  a  longtime  resident of San Angelo and Garland before moving to
   Lubbock  in  1995.  She  was  a schoolteacher and an artist. She was a
   member of the First Baptist Church in Garland.

   Survivors  include  two daughters, Modelle Maule of Lubbock and Ginger
   Burks  of  Little  Rock,  Ark.;  a  son,  Dr. Jim Lollar of Dallas; 13
   grandchildren;       20       great-grandchildren;       and      four

   He  was  born July 25, 1915, in Winters and was a longtime resident of
   Silverton.  He  was  a  stockman  and a farmer. He was a member of the
   First Methodist Church of Silverton and was a 32nd Degree Mason.

   Survivors   include   his  wife,  Iwana  Monroe  of  Silverton,  three
   daughters,  Mary  Strange  of  Kress,  Carlye Fleming of Silverton and
   Marsha   Iwana   Miller  of  Roscoe;  five  grandchildren;  and  seven

   KERRVILLE  -  Coy  S.  Lenhart, 67, died Thursday, Nov. 21, 1996, in a
   local hospital.

   Service will be at 2 p.m. today in the Overby Funeral Home Chapel with
   burial  at  2 p.m. Monday in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in
   San Antonio.

   He  was  born June 5, 1929, in Neosho, Mo., and had been a resident of
   Kerrville  since  1993. An Air Force veteran of the Korean War, he was
   and Episcopal.

   Survivors  include  his  wife,  Joan Lenhart of Kerrville; three sons,
   Gordon Lenhart of Deer Park, Mark Lenhart of Houston and Dale Smith of
   Oklahoma  City;  two  daughters, Brenda Stephens of Escondido, Calif.,
   and Diana Murray of New Port Richey, Fla.; five sisters, Jean Anderson
   of  Houston,  Joan Johnson of Santa Rosa, Calif., Yvonne Smith of Cave
   Springs,  Ark., Emily Robertson of Nort Port, Fla., and Janice Lenhart
   of Indonesia; eight grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

   LAMPASAS - Roland Edgar Pamplin, 69, of Lometa died Thursday, Nov. 21,
   1996, in a local hospital.

   He was born Aug. 8, 1927, in Lometa. He worked as a roughneck.

   FORT  STOCKTON  -  Atanasio  A.  Espino,  72,  of  Fort  Stockton died
   Wednesday, Nov. 20, 1996, in a Houston hospital.

   He  was born Sept. 26, 1922, in Houston and was a longtime resident of

   STERLING  CITY  -  Jo Avis Askey Logan died Thursday morning, Nov. 21,
   1996, of heart failure.

   She was known as Avis or Abbie to relatives and those who grew up with
   her.  People  who knew her best lied in Alpine, Texas, where she spent
   more  than  20  years  loving  and raising her family and being a good
   neighbor  and  friend to thousands of Alpine residents. Those who were
   sick,  needy  or hungry did not go without a delicious hot meal if she
   had anything to do with it.

   We  don't  know if you knew Jo Avis like we do, but one thing is sure,
   she is dancing in heaven with her Jesus.

   Jo  is  survived  by  her  husband,  Jimmy,  89,  of  Arlington; three
   children, Dan, Mickey and Brenda, as well as grandchildren.

   BIG  SPRING  -  Dr.  Marshall  Quentin  Cauley, 77, of Big Spring died
   Friday, Nov. 22, 1996, in a Lubbock hospital.

   Rosewood Chapel with burial in Trinity Memorial Park.

   He  was born July 25, 1919, in Comanche and had been a resident of Big
   Spring  since  1949.  An  Army  Air  Corps veteran of World War II, he
   co-owned  and  operated his own optometry practice. He was a member of
   the  Downtown  Lions  Club,  the  American Optometric Association, the
   Texas Optometric Association and the First Baptist Church.

   Survivors include his wife, Marion Cauley of Big Spring; two sons, Dr.
   Richard  Cauley of Big Spring and Dr. Lynn Cauley of Baton Rouge, La.;
   a  brother,  H.M.  ``Buzz'' Cauley of Comanche; two sisters, Catherine
   Everidge and Tillie Franks, both of Comanche; and two grandsons.

   HICO  -  Jake  L.  Young,  84,  died Friday, Nov. 22, 1996, in a local

   BALLINGER  -  Oris ``Buck'' Cecil, 86, of Paint Rock died Friday, Nov.

   COLEMAN - Orby S. Sikes, 91, of Talpa died Saturday, Nov. 23, 1996, in
   Lamesa.

   Service  will  be  at 2 p.m. Monday in the Stevens Funeral Home Chapel
   with burial in Talpa Cemetery.

   He  was  born Jan. 18, 1905, in Santa Anna and was a lifetime resident
   of Coleman County before moving to Lubbock and then to Lamesa in 1995.
   He  was  a stock farmer and owned and operated Sikes Grocery in Talpa.
   He  was former mayor of Talpa and was a member of the Talpa Lions Club
   and the Immanuel Baptist Church.

   Survivors  include  two sons, Don Sikes of Lubbock and Ronnie Sikes of
   Houston;  four  daughters,  Jeanette Brooks of Coahoma, Nita Mathis of
   Lamesa,  Hiawatha  Hallford  of  Midland  and Pat Hudgins of Forsan; a

   He  was  born July 27, 1910, in Fairview, W.Va. He was a member of the

   JAMES H. AMOS

   James  Harold  ``Ace'' Amos died of congestive heart failure at 6 p.m.
   Friday, Nov. 22, 1996, in a local hospital.

   Service  will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25, in Johnson's Funeral Home
   Chapel with the Rev. Grosse Mohler officiating. Graveside service will
   be  at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Rest Haven Cemetery in Menard. Arrangements
   are by Johnson's Funeral Home.

   Ace  was  born on Feb. 1, 1925, to Edgar Preston Amos and Nell Frances
   Riley  Amos  in  Menard,  Texas. He attended Menard Grammar School and
   graduated  from  Menard High School in 1942. Shortly after graduation,
   he  joined  the  517  Regimental  Paratrooper  Team  and served in the
   European  Theater in World War II from 1943 to 1945. After the war, he
   attended  Sul  Ross  State  University,  graduating with a bachelor of
   science degree in 1948 and a master of education degree in 1955.

   Ace  was  employed  as  a  football,  basketball  and  boxing coach at
   Edinburg  in  1948.  He  returned to Menard as an assistant coach from
   1949  to 1952. He was a coach and American history and general science
   teacher  at  Eden for three years and a football, basketball and track
   coach and physical education teacher at Snyder for 10 years.

   From  1965  to  1968, he was employed as a football coach and physical
   education teacher at Edison Junior High School in San Angelo. In 1968,
   he  became  assistant principal at Edison and in 1972, he was promoted
   to  principal.  In 1984, he retired from Edison but continued to serve
   first  as  supervisor  and  later  as  director of the adult education
   program until he retired in 1991.

   Ace  had  a  great  love  for flying and received a commercial pilot's
   license  in 1961. For 20 years, he spent his vacation time from school
   business  working  as  a crop duster. He was an avid fisherman, hunter
   and golfer.

   Ace  is  survived  by  his wife of 50 years, Eloise Napier Amos of San
   Angelo;  a  daughter,  Jan  Hari  and  son-in-law,  Michael L. Hari of
   Paxton,  Ill.;  a  daughter, Bonnie B. Amos of San Angelo; a daughter,
   Jamie  Amos  and  son-in-law,  Ned  Ramage of Nashville, Tenn.; a son,
   Kelly Amos of San Angelo; six grandchildren, Michael B. and Jason Hari
   of  Paxton,  Riley  and Eden James Ramage of Nashville, and Ashley and
   Bonnie A. Amos of San Angelo; and two great-granddaughters, Mollie and
   Allene Hari of Paxton. Ace also is survived by two sisters, Patsy Noll
   and  Gloria  Roberts,  both  of  San Antonio; a favorite nephew, Scott
   Sorrell of Eden; and numerous other nephews and nieces.

   Ace  was  very  close to his father-in-law, Floyd L. Napier of Menard,
   his  brothers-in-law,  Harris  Napier of Eldorado, Floyd Napier Jr. of
   Menard;  and  his sisters-in-law, Jackie Napier and Ramona Napier. Ace
   had numerous friends, including his lifelong friend, D. David White of
   Stephenville, and his special buddy, Joe Freeman of Ballinger.

   The  family  requests  memorials  be  made  to  the James ``Ace'' Amos
   Memorial  Scholarship Fund in care of the President's Office, Sul Ross
   State University, Box C-144, Alpine, TX 79832 or a charity of choice.

   GINGER LEA GROSSHANS

   Ginger Lea Grosshans, 18, of San Angelo passed away Saturday, Nov. 23,
   1996,  in  a local hospital due to injuries sustained in an automobile
   accident.

   Graveside  service  will  be  at  10 a.m. Monday, Nov 25, in Lawnhaven
   Memorial Gardens under the direction of Johnson's Funeral Home.

   Ginger was born Oct. 20, 1978, in Caldwell, Texas. She was a senior at
   Wall  High  School.  She  was active in the Wall High School Tech Prep
   Program  where  she  was working at a veterinary hospital. She enjoyed
   that  a  great  deal  and was a big animal lover. She had every animal
   imaginable  at one time or another. She also enjoyed playing tennis at
   Wall.  She was a very funny person and had a concern of others. Ginger
   made  the decision to give the gift of life by choosing to be an organ
   donor.

   Ginger  is  survived  by her parents, Bruce and Vicki Grosshans of San
   Angelo;  an  older  sister,  Leslie  Dawn Grosshans of San Angelo; her
   maternal  grandmother,  Lovella  Clarkson  of  Corsicana; her paternal
   grandparents,  Roy and Reba Grosshans of San Angelo; aunts and uncles,
   Lea and John Hensley of Duncanville, Ann and Bob Blackstock of Aransas
   Pass;  and  an  Aunt  Ruth Abbott of Veribest. She also is survived by
   many very special friends at Wall and Ballinger.

   She  was  born  Dec.  11,  1907, in Coleman and had been a resident of

   Neal DeBusk of Fountain Valley, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; and numerous

   IRAAN  -  Thurman  C. ``Rusty'' Woods, 71, of Sheffield died Saturday,
   Nov. 23, 1996, in a Granbury hospital.

   He was born Feb. 20, 1925, in Van Zandt County and had been a resident
   of  Sheffield for 25 years. An Army veteran, he was owner and operator
   of a service station and had been a mechanic.

   her residence.

   She  was  born April 17, 1925, in Minneapolis. She was a homemaker and
   Baptist.

   BRADY  -  Donald  Edward  ``Don'' Sanderson, 55, of Brady died Sunday,
   Nov. 24, 1996, in a San Angelo hospital.

   in  Resthaven  Cemetery.  Arrangements  are  by  Leatherwood  Colonial
   Funeral Home.

   He  was  born  April  25, 1941, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and was a
   longtime  resident  of  Brady.  An  Army veteran, he was the owner and
   operator of the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants in Brady, Brownwood
   and  Granbury.  He  was  a former chamber of commerce director, former
   member  of  the  Lions  Club  and  attended the First United Methodist
   Church.

   Survivors  include  his wife, Connie Sanderson of Brady; a son, Warren
   Sanderson  of  Dallas;  a  daughter, Kimberly Sanderson of Granbury; a
   sister, Gail Wright of Brady; a niece; and two great-nephews.

   Skinnie Naff

   KINGSLAND - Skinnie Naff, 76, of Kingsland died Sunday, Nov. 24, 1996,
   in Austin.

   Service  will  be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Kingsland Community Church with
   burial   in   Lakeland   Hills  Memorial  Park.  Arrangements  are  by
   Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home.

   He  was  born  April  15,  1920,  in  Bookman, La., and was a longtime
   resident  of  Kingsland.  An Air Force veteran of World War II and the
   Korean  War, he was a retired U.S. Air Force chief master sergeant. He
   was  a  member  of the Kingsland Community Church, Masonic Lodge 1424,
   Worth  Commandery  No.  19  Knights Teplar of Texas, the Lions Club of
   Kingsland and the American Legion.

   Survivors  include his wife, Marion R. Naff of Kingsland; a son, Allen
   Naff  of  Bertram; three sisters, Earline Brown and Orene Hammon, both
   of   Bastrop,   La.,  and  Mae  New  of  Bay  St.  Louis,  Miss.;  two
   grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

   Rodney Young

   BIG  SPRING  -  Rodney L. Young, 34, of Big Spring died Saturday, Nov.
   23,  1996,  in  Midland  from  injuries  sustained  in  an  automobile
   accident.

   Service  will  be  at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood
   Chapel with burial in Trinity Memorial Park.

   He  was born June 18, 1962, in Big Spring and was a lifetime resident.
   He  was  a hot oil operator at Ackerly Service Co. and a member of the
   Church of Christ.

   of  Tracey, Calif.; his parents, Bernard and Cleo Young of Big Spring;

   Theresa Mayeaux Word, 68, passed away at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 24,
   1996, following a lengthy illness.

   The  family  will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25, at
   Johnson's Funeral Home. Service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, in
   Johnson's  Funeral  Home  Chapel  with  burial  in  Lawnhaven Memorial

   Theresa  was  born  Aug.  22,  1928,  to  Judith  and James Mayeaux in
   Alexandria,  La.  On April 28, 1944, she and C.D. Word were married in
   Port Arthur.

   Theresa,  a  homemaker  who never met a stranger, now resides with her
   friends and heavenly family.

   Mrs.  Word  is  survived  by  her  husband  of 52« years, Carl Durward
   ``C.D.''  Word  of  the  home;  three  daughters,  Carolyn  Barker and
   husband,  Charles,  of  the  home,  Sherry Vidler and husband, Bob, of
   Veribest,  and Pam Zumwalt and husband, Darin, of San Marcos; one son,
   Carl   ``C.D.''   Word   and   wife,   Paula,  of  San  Angelo;  seven

   He  was  born  Jan.  16,  1916, in Muleshoe and had been a resident of
   Kingsland for one year. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a self
   employed carpenter and a Catholic.

   nephews,  Larry  Reven  of Kingsland and Forest Reven Jr. of Mesquite;

   Domingo Carrasco

   PECOS - Domingo Carrasco, 91, died Saturday, Nov. 23, 1996, in a local
   hospital.

   Service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Santa Rosa Catholic Church with
   burial in Mount Evergreen Cemetery.

   He  was  born  Aug. 4, 1905, in Cuchio, Mexico, and had lived in Pecos
   since 1914. He worked for the railroad and was Catholic.

   Survivors include four sons, Lupe Carrasco of San Jose, Calif., Martin

   BIG  SPRING  - Darrell Eugene Ditto, 66, died Saturday, Nov. 23, 1996,
   at his residence.

   Service  will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral
   Home with burial in Trinity Memorial Park.

   He  was  born  Nov. 10, 1930, in China Springs and had been a resident
   the Knott Community since 1946. A veteran of the Korean War, he worked
   for Planters Gin and in the oil field.

   Survivors  include  two  daughters, Carla Crow of Big Spring and Syble
   Breihan  of  Morongo Valley, Calif.; a sister, Wanda Foster of Kermit;
   four  brothers,  Alto  Ditto,  Dale  Ditto  and  Loy Ditto, all of Big
   Spring,   and  Edwin  Ditto  of  Kermit;  five  grandchildren;  and  a
   grandchild.

   DON SANDERSON

   BRADY  -  Don Sanderson, 55, a well-known Brady businessman, died at 9
   a.m.  Sunday, Nov. 24, in Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo after a
   short illness.

   He had suffered a massive heart attack at home Friday morning.

   Funeral  service  will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, at First Baptist
   Church  in  Brady  with  the Rev. Mark Elliott and the Rev. Norman Roe
   officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery under the direction
   of Leatherwood Colonial Funeral Home.

   Born  April 25, 1941, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, he moved to Houston
   with his family in 1951.

   A graduate of Sam Houston State University in 1964, he was employed by
   several pharmaceutical companies before he moved to Brady in 1979 with
   his new wife, Connie.

   They purchased the Kentucky Fried Chicken store in Brady that year and
   then added KFC stores in Brownwood and recently in Granbury.

   Several  years  ago  the  Sandersons  concocted a new item for the KFC
   menu.  They called it ``chicken tenders,'' strips of chicken breast in
   a  tasty  batter.  It  was  a  hit  in Brady and KFC officials were so
   impressed  they  added  it  to  KFC  menus  throughout  the country as
   ``crispy strips.''

   A good-natured man, Mr. Sanderson loved people and especially followed
   the Brady Bulldogs and other high school athletic teams.

   He  was  a past director of the Brady Chamber of Commerce. He attended
   the First United Methodist Church of Brady.

   Survivors include his wife, Connie; a son, Warren Sanderson of Dallas;
   a  daughter, Kimberly Sanderson of Granbury; a sister and her husband,
   Gail  and Jim Wright of Brady; a niece, Debbie Linnard of Houston; and
   two great-nephews, Brandon and Jason Linnard of Houston.

   Pallbearers  will  be  Joe  King,  Larry  Smith,  John  Quinn,  Robert
   Barnhill, Jim Shuffield, Bill Martin, Al Brown and Roy Appleton.

   The  family has requested that memorials be made to the Heart of Texas
   Memorial Hospital and to the American Heart Association.

   BALLINGER  -  Alex  W.  Schwertner  Sr.,  78, of Ballinger passed away
   Sunday evening, Nov. 24, 1996, at his residence.

   Rosary  will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, in the Rains-Seale Funeral
   Chapel.  Funeral  Mass  will  be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, at St.
   Mary's  Catholic  Church with Father Louis Moeller officiating. Burial
   will follow in the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Rowena, Texas.

   Alex  was  born on Jan. 1, 1918, in Runnels County to the late Ben and
   Annie  Schwertner.  He  married  Irene  Hennecke  on Jan. 23, 1940, in
   Rowena.  He  was a farmer and a longtime employee of Ballinger Butane.
   He  was  a  member  of  St.  Mary's Catholic Church in Ballinger and a
   member of the Sons of Hermann Lodge 215 in Rowena.

   Alex  is  survived by his wife, Irene of Ballinger; a daughter, Teresa
   Latzel  and her husband, Johnny, of Midkiff; a son, Alex W. Schwertner
   Jr.  of  San Angelo; four grandchildren, Joey Schwertner of Bronte and
   Katherine,  Steven  and Michael Latzel of Midkiff. He is also survived

   Thelma  Louise  Huddleston,  66,  of  San Angelo died Sunday, Nov. 24,
   1996, in a local hospital.

   Cemetery  with  the  Rev.  Roy  Ramon officiating. Arrangements are by
   Johnson's Funeral Home.

   Mrs.  Huddleston  was  born  July  5,  1930,  in San Angelo. She was a
   homemaker and a member of Beacon Baptist Church.

   Survivors  include  two  sons,  Robert  Vernon  Rees  of Arlington and
   William  Herbert  Rees  III  of  Big Lake; a grandson; three brothers,
   Ralph  Thomas  Thorp  of  Wolfforth, John Valton Thorp of Oklahoma and
   William  Harvey  Wilkinson  of  San  Angelo; and one sister, Geraldine
   Gottshall of San Angelo.

   James C. Ramsey died Sunday, Nov. 24, 1996, in a local hospital.

   James  was  born Aug. 27, 1944, in Plainview, Texas. He was a longtime
   resident of San Angelo.

   He  is  survived  by  his  parents, Grover C. and Ava D. Ramsey of San
   Angelo;  one  son,  Kevin  Lee Ramsey of Austin; and one daughter, Kim
   Ramsey  Calf.  He  is  also  survived  by four sisters, Carol Rush and
   husband,  Al,  Olieta  Kline  and  husband, Larry, Roylene Dickson and
   husband,  Ricky,  and Sue Gomez and husband, Louis, all of San Angelo;
   eight  nieces  and nephews, Brent and Brooke Dooley, Tammy Smith, Lori
   Brutton,  Brandon  and Lindsey Dickson and Brian and Michael Woodruff;
   two great-nieces; and two great-nephews, all of San Angelo.

   GUILLERMO `MEMO' VALDEZ SR.

   Guillermo  ``Memo''  G.  Valdez  Sr., 74, of San Angelo died at 2 p.m.
   Monday, Nov. 25, 1996, at his residence.

   Prayer  service  will  be  at  7  p.m.  Tuesday, Nov. 26, in Johnson's
   Funeral  Home Chapel. Service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, in
   Johnson's  Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Carlos Valenzuela, pastor
   of  Genesis  Baptist  Church,  officiating. Military graveside service

   Guillermo  was  born  Feb. 10, 1922, in Del Rio, Texas, and had been a
   resident  of  San  Angelo  since  1931.  He  owned and operated Memo's
   Restaurant and was a member of Genesis Baptist Church.

   Guillermo  was  married  to  Lilly  Martinez  on Sept. 5, 1942, in San
   Angelo.  Survivors  include  his wife, Lilly, of the home; three sons,
   Rene  Valdez,  Guillermo  ``Pee Wee'' Valdez and Chapo Valdez, and two
   daughters, Raquel V. Sanchez and Linda V. Escobedo, all of San Angelo;
   20 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one brother, David Valdez of
   Tucson, Ariz.; three sisters, Grace Bonillo of Tucson, Shelia Mitchell
   of Abilene and Oralia Banchs of California.

   Pallbearers will be grandsons.

   MENARD  -  Kitty Sue Harrison Menzies, 88, died Sunday, Nov. 24, 1996,
   in a San Angelo hospital.

   Service  will  be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, in Heritage Funeral Home
   Chapel with burial in Rest Haven Cemetery.

   Kitty  Sue  was  born Dec. 19, 1907, in Collinsville, Texas, to Albert
   Grant and Marie Antoinette Barron Harrison. Mr. and Mrs. Harrison were
   pioneer teachers in West Texas.

   Kitty  Sue  attended  grade  school in Plainview, Texas, and graduated
   from  high  school  in 1924 in Columbia, Mo. She received a bachelor's
   degree  in  home  economics from Texas Woman's University in Denton in
   1929.  She  taught home economics in high school in San Saba from 1929
   to  1931.  She  was  the  first  home  economics  agent  for the Texas
   Agriculture Extension Service of Texas A&M University in Menard County
   from 1931 to 1933.

   She  was a supervisor for both the work projects with the Texas Relief
   Commission  and for W.P.A. from 1933 to 1937. She returned to teaching
   in Menard public schools in 1950 and retired in 1972.

   Kitty Sue and Max Duery Menzies Sr. were married Aug. 27, 1933, at the
   home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Reeve in Menard. She and Max observed their
   50th  wedding  anniversary  in 1983. She is survived by three sons and
   daughters-in-law,  Duery  and  LaWanda of San Angelo, William ``Duck''
   and Gina of Gatesville and John and Brenda of Nedo; six grandchildren;
   and four stepgrandchildren.

   Kitty  Sue  joined  the First Presbyterian Church in San Saba and both
   she  and  Max  were  members of Menard Presbyterian Church, where both
   served  as  elders.  She  was a member of the Home Demonstration Club,
   Retired Teachers Association in both Menard and San Angelo.

   During  the  1940s and 1950s, she served as president and secretary of
   the  Menard  Reading  Club.  She  served  in  the  Menard  PTA and was
   presented with a life membership. She lived in Rio Concho Manor in San
   Angelo  from  1987  to  1996,  and had lived in the Menard Manor since
   February 1996.

   She  was  preceded  in  death  by her husband, Max; one grandson, Ben;
   three brothers; and two sisters.

   The  family  requests  that memorials be made to the Menard County 4H,
   P.O. Box 727, Menard, TX 76859, for the scholarship program.

   Earl  A.  Rohlf,  89,  of San Angelo died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 1996, in a
   local nursing care center.

   There will be no services. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home.

   He  was  born Nov. 17, 1907, in Davenport, Iowa. He was a musician and
   taught  organ  and  piano lessons until his retirement in 1977. He had
   played  with  the  Quad  City  Symphony  Orchestra  and  was the first
   organist to play the organ on television.

   Survivors  include  a  son,  William  A.  Rohlf  of  Helena,  Mont.; a
   daughter,  Mary R. Merson of San Angelo; and three grandchildren, Anne
   Merson of San Angelo, Julie Merson of Orlando, Fla., and Cynthia Rohlf
   of Tennessee.

   Marguerite Stevens

   KERRVILLE - Marguerite Wendel Stevens, 79, of Harper died Sunday, Nov.
   24, 1996.

   Service  will  be  at 10 a.m. today at Harper Presbyterian Church with
   burial  in  Harper  City  Cemetery. Arrangements are by Grimes Funeral
   Chapels.

   She  was  born  March  2, 1917, in Gillespie County and was a lifetime
   resident  of Harper. She was a rancher and a homemaker and a member of
   Eastern  Star  Chapter  24, the Harper Chamber of Commerce, the Harper
   Community Chest and Harper Presbyterian Church.

   Survivors  include  two  daughters,  Kathryn Stevens and Martha Leach,
   both  of  Austin;  two  sisters,  Carrie Tarr and Esther Bode, both of
   Harper; three grandchildren; and three aunts.

   Raymond Stern

   KERRVILLE  -  Raymond  L. Stern, 91, died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 1996, in a
   local care center.

   Graveside  service  will  be  at  4  p.m. today in Garden of Memories.
   Arrangements are by Grimes Funeral Chapels.

   He  was  born  Sept.  7,  1905,  in  Beasley  and had been a Kerrville
   resident  for  26  years, formerly living in Weslaco. He had owned and
   operator  Border  Lumber  Co.  in  Weslaco.  He  was  a member of Zion
   Lutheran Church in Kerrville and the Kiwanis Club in Weslaco.

   Survivors  in  include  a  son, Allen R. Stern of Kerrville; a sister,
   Leora Krause of Houston; and two grandchildren.

   Wallace Taylor

   KERRVILLE  -  Wallace W. Taylor, 83, died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 1996, in a
   local hospital.

   Memorial  service  will  be  held at a later date. Arrangements are by
   Kerrville Funeral Home.

   He  was  born  Sept.  13,  1913,  in  Waco  and had been a resident of
   Kerrville  since  1975. A veteran of World War II, he was retired from
   the  Texas  Highway  Department  after  35  years of service and was a
   member of the First Christian Church of Waco.

   Survivors  include his wife, Frances Kennon Taylor of Kerrville; three
   sisters,  Marcella  T.  Harris  of  Dripping  Springs,  Uala  Gobel of
   Rockdale and Patsy Taylor Smith of Waco; and a brother, John G. Taylor
   of Lubbock.

   Eduardo Crona

   VAN  HORN - Eduarda Crona, 77, of Pecos died Monday, Nov. 25, 1996, in
   a Pecos hospital.

   Service  will  be at 2 p.m. todayat Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church
   with burial in Van Horn Cemetery. Arrangements are by Van Horn Funeral
   Home.

   She was born Sept. 19, 1919, in Van Horn. She was Catholic.

   KERRVILLE - Biddie Campbell-Riopelle died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 1996, in a
   local hospital.

   Service  will  be  at  10 a.m. Friday at Notre Dame Catholic Church. A
   second  service  and  burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Lake of
   the  Woods  Chapel  in  Forest  Park  Lawndale  Cemetery  in  Houston.
   Arrangements are by Grimes Funeral Chapels.

   She  had been a resident of Kerrville since 1969, formerly residing in
   Houston.  She  was owner of Biddie Campbell Real Estate and had been a
   member of the Kerrville Board of Realtors since 1970. She was a member
   of  the  Notre  Dame  Catholic  Church,  the  president's  Club of the
   University  of  Texas  Medical  Branch  at  Galveston and the American
   Business Women's Association in Kerrville.

   Survivors  include  her  husband,  Warren  J.  ``Rip''  Riopelle;  two
   sisters,  Tessie  Gibson  of  Westlake,  La.,  and Fannie Sue Young of
   Pasadena; and numerous nieces and nephews.

   MABEL VANDERSTUCKEN

   SONORA  -  Mabel  VanderStucken,  93,  of Sonora died Sunday, Nov. 24,
   1996, in San Angelo.

   Service  will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, at St. John's Episcopal
   Church  in  Sonora with the Rt. Rev. Robert Hibbs, suffragan bishop of
   the  Diocese  of  West  Texas,  and  the  Rev. Monte Jones, St. John's
   Episcopal  Church,  officiating.  Burial  will  be in Sonora Cemetery.
   Arrangements are by Kerbow Funeral Home.

   Mabel  is survived by her husband, Joseph Max VanderStucken; a sister,
   Ethel  Spiller  of  Junction; a daughter, Jo Bess Jackson of Dallas; a
   granddaughter  and  grandson-in-law,  Elizabeth  and Daniel Donegan; a
   grandson  and  granddaughter-in-law,  Joseph  and  Linda  Jackson; two
   great-grandchildren,  James  and  Josette Jackson; and numerous nieces
   and  nephews.  Mabel  was  preceded  in death by a daughter, Jan Mears
   VanderStucken; and a brother, Edward Lamar Mears Jr.

   Born  Mabel  Emma  Mears  on  July  28,  1903,  in Menard, she was the
   daughter  of the late Edward Lamar and Emma Wilkinson Mears, both from
   pioneer  families  in Menard County. After attending school in Menard,
   Mabel  graduated from the Miss Hockaday School for Girls in Dallas and
   later  attended  St.  Mary's  College in Dallas. Mabel and Joseph were
   married at the Mears home in Menard on July 27, 1925, and subsequently
   moved to their ranch home in Sonora.

   Mabel  VanderStucken  leaves a lasting legacy for her lifelong support
   of  civic  and  charitable causes in Sonora and throughout West Texas.
   She  served  for  many years on the Sonora Independent School District
   school  board  and  the  Lilian M. Hudspeth Memorial Hospital Board of
   Directors,  and  was  a  past  president of the hospital auxiliary. In
   1960,  Mabel  and  Joseph  donated  the  chapel  at Lilian M. Hudspeth
   Memorial  Hospital  in  honor of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mears and
   the late E.F. and Bessie VanderStucken.

   A  longtime supporter of scouting, Mabel served as president of Sonora
   Girl  Scouts,  vice president of the El Camino Girl Scout Council, and
   as  a  troop  leader  of  Sonora Girl Scout units. In 1970, Joseph and
   Mabel  donated  the  site  in  Real County as a Girl Scout camp, later
   named  Camp  Jo Jan Van in honor of their daughters. Mabel also served
   on  the  advisory  board  of  the  Concho Valley Home for Girls in San
   Angelo,  and she was a longtime supporter of West Texas Boys Ranch and
   West Texas Rehabilitation Center.

   Mabel  was  a  lifelong  member of St. John's Episcopal Church, having
   served  as  president  of  the  Episcopal Women of the Church and as a
   member of the church vestry. In 1990, Mabel and Joseph established the
   St.  John's Mission Endowment Fund, a community agency which presently
   supports organizations dedicated to feeding hungry children throughout
   the world.

   Mabel  and  Joseph  were major contributors to the construction of St.
   John's  Parish  Hall,  built  in  1990  as  a  memorial  to their late
   daughter,  Jan  VanderStucken.  Mabel also helped establish the Sutton
   County  Trust, a community funding source for college scholarships and
   other  needs  of  Sutton  County  residents.  She also was an honorary
   director of First National Bank of Sonora, and was a 50-year member of
   the Eastern Star, Sonora Chapter 575.

   Dedicated  to  the  preservation  of  Sonora's  heritage,  Mabel was a
   charter  member  of  the Sutton County Historical Society, and she was
   instrumental in the preservation of the original Sonora Depot.

   As  a  longtime  member  of  Sonora  Women's Club, Mabel was an active
   member  of  the Sutton County Public Library Committee, which recently
   raised the funds to construct the new Sutton County Public Library. On
   Nov.  12,  1996,  Mabel  and Joseph were honored at the ribbon-cutting
   ceremony  of  the  new  library,  and a memorial plaque honoring their
   contributions will be placed on a commemorative wall in the library.

   Pallbearers  will be Bob Brockman, Stephen Brown, Ronnie Cox, Herschel
   Davenport, Edward Earwood, Ed L. Mears III, Edwin E. Sawyer III, Eddie
   F. Smith, Rob Roy Spiller and Lea Roy Valliant.

   Honorary  pallbearers  will  be  Dr.  Frank Bond, Harold McKewen, W.B.
   McMillan  and  members  of  the  Lilian  M. Hudspeth Memorial Hospital
   corporate  board  of  directors,  which includes Vicenta Cervantez, Al
   Elliott, Tryon Fields, Mike Hale, Monte Jones and John Tedford.

   Church  ushers will be Armer Earwood, John Allen Ward, Ben Epps, Corky
   Schwiening and Dick Street.

   She  was  born  May  3,  1901,  in Coke, Texas. She was retired office
   manager for JC Penney Co.

   He  was  born  Feb.  15, 1905, in Holdenville, Okla., and had lived in

   He  was  born  April  21,  1932,  in Sanderson. An Army veteran of the
   Korean  War,  he  was  a surveyor and a member of the Booster Clubs of
   Terrill County.

   Survivors  include  his  wife,  Janie McDonald of Sanderson; two sons,
   Rocky  Dale  McDonald and Russell Scott McDonald, both of Sanderson; a
   daughter,  Lauren Spears of Alpine; a brother, Jackie Zane McDonald of
   Sanderson;  a  sister, LaJuana Offield of Adkins; eight grandchildren;
   and a great-grandchild.

   Melvin Faglie

   SWEETWATER  -  Melvin  C.  Faglie, 74, of Oak Creek Lake died Tuesday,
   Nov. 26, 1996, in an Abilene hospital.

   Service  will  be  at 11 a.m. Saturday in McCoy Funeral Home Chapel of
   Memories  with  military  graveside  service  in Blackwell Cemetery in
   Blackwell.

   He  was  born  Aug.  11,  1922,  in  Utopia and had been a resident of
   Sweetwater  for  20  years.  An Army veteran of World War II, he was a
   member of Temple Baptist Church in San Angelo.

   Survivors  include  his wife, Frances Faglie of Oak Creek Lake; a son,
   Gary  Faglie  of  Monahans; a stepdaughter, Patsy Word of Odessa; four
   brothers, Troy Faglie of Roby, Roy Faglie of San Antonio, Bobby Faglie
   of  Midland  and  Larry Faglie of Knippa; three sisters, Vida Jones of
   Uvalde,  Edith  Wolfe  of  Garland and Katherine Flemming of Live Oak,
   Fla.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

   FORT  STOCKTON  -  Jerry  Rodriguez, 22, of Fort Stockton died Monday,
   Nov.  25,  1996,  in  Fredericksburg  from  injuries  sustained  in an
   automobile accident.

   Rosary  will be at 7 p.m. Friday in Fort Stockton Funeral Home Chapel.
   Service  will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Agnes Catholic Church with
   burial in St. Agnes Catholic Cemetery.

   He  was  born  Sept.  22,  1974,  in  Bell Flower, Ga., and had been a
   resident  of  Fort  Stockton  since  1981.  He  worked  as a telephone
   solicitor.

   Survivors  include  a  son, Sean Alec Gutierrez of Ozona; his parents,
   Alonzo  Rodriguez  and  Frances O. Rodriguez, both of Fort Stockton; a
   brother,  Oscar Rodriguez of Fort Stockton; three sisters, Delia Baca,
   Edna   Vargas  and  Crystal  Rodriguez,  all  of  Fort  Stockton;  his
   grandmother,  Geronima Ortiz of Fort Stockton; and three nieces, seven
   nephews and several aunts and uncles.

   GOLDTHWAITE  -  Lenora Adline Brown Witty, 71, of Star died Wednesday,
   Nov. 27, 1996, in a Temple hospital.

   Service will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home Chapel
   with burial in Hurst Ranch Cemetery.

   She  was born Aug. 31, 1925, in the Pleasant Grove community and was a
   longtime  resident  of  Star.  She  was a licensed vocational nurse, a
   homemaker and a Methodist.

   Survivors  include  her  husband, Norris Witty of Star; two daughters,
   Katherine  Witty  of  San Antonio and Avalon Lynn of Star; three sons,
   David  Witty  of Evant and Jimmy Dale Witty and Richard Witty, both of
   Star;  four  sisters,  Willie  Hamilton  of McGregor, Bonnie Potter of
   Eastland,  Dovella  Johnson  of  Denver  and Georgie Conner of Pueblo,
   Colo.;    10    grandchildren;    two   stepgrandchildren;   and   one
   great-grandson.

   Rowena Myers

   BRADY - Rowena Myers, 85, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 1996, in Brady.

   Service  will  be  at  2 p.m. Saturday in Heritage Funeral Home Chapel
   with burial in Rest Haven Cemetery.

   She  was  born  Feb.  27,  1911,  in Haskell County and was a longtime
   resident  of McCulloch County. She was a homemaker and a member of the
   Church of Christ.

   Survivors  include  a  son,  Harold  E.  Myers  of  Elm  Grove;  three
   grandchildren,  Harold  E. Myers II of Brady, Debra D. Myers Blackburn
   of  San Antonio and Tammie L. Myers Johnson of Jacksonville, Ark.; and
   12 great-grandchildren.

   BIG  SPRING  -  Alta  Lee Underwood, 87, of Big Spring died Wednesday,
   Nov. 27, 1996, in a Farmersville nursing home. Services are pending at

   FORT  WORTH  -  Robert H. Loftin, 89, of Fort Worth died Tuesday, Nov.
   26, 1996, at Westside Care Center.

   Service  will  be at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 29, at Thompson's Harveson &
   Cole Funeral Home with burial in Rose Hill Memorial Park.

   He  was  born May 25, 1907, in Grimes County. An Army veteran of World
   War  II,  he was a retired pharmacist and had been the co-owner of L&H
   and  Renfro  Drug.  He  was  a  member of Polytechnic United Methodist
   Church,  the  Tarrant  County Pharmaceutical Association and the Texas
   Pharmaceutical Association.

   He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Harned Loftin.

   Memorials  may  be  made to the American Cancer Society, American Lung
   Association or American Heart Association.
