   James  D.  "Jim"  Childress,  74, of Amarillo died Thursday, April 10,
   2003.
   
   No  services  are  scheduled.  Burial  will  be  in  Santa Fe National
   Cemetery  in  Santa  Fe, N.M. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home,
   2800 S. Osage St.
   
   Mr.  Childress moved to Amarillo in 1994 from California. He served in
   the  Army  during  World  War  II.  He then worked as a master chef in
   Texas, Oklahoma and California. He retired in 1991.
   
   Survivors  include  two  brothers,  Johnny Childress of Amelia Island,
   Fla.,  and  Tommy  Childress  of  California; a daughter, LaDonna Jean
   Childress of Los Angeles, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.

   Mary Eustace Heatherly, 87, of Amarillo died Tuesday, April 15, 2003.
   
   Services  will  be at 2 p.m. Friday in Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel
   with  the  Rev.  Dean  Wynn,  chaplain  of  Craig Methodist Retirement
   Community, officiating. Entombment will be in Memory Gardens Mausoleum
   by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.
   
   Mrs. Heatherly married Foster Heatherly in Amarillo in 1934. She was a
   loving  wife and dedicated care giver for her daughter, Betty Ann, who
   passed  away at the age of 53 in 1988. She was a member of San Jacinto
   Baptist Church.
   
   She was preceded in death by her daughter; and her husband in 1991.
   
   Survivors  include  two  sons,  Jim  Heatherly  of  Wildorado and Mike
   Heatherly  of  San  Diego;  three  sisters,  Darlene  Johnson of Santa
   Clarita,  Calif., Jill Beasley of Temple and Ruth Malone of Houston; a
   brother,  Emmett Eustace of Dallas; four grandchildren, Karen Huyck of
   Greenville,  S.C.,  Lisa Strickland of Amarillo, and Michael Heatherly
   and  Marcus  Heatherly, both of Del Mar; five great-grandchildren; and
   several nieces and nephews.
   
   The  family suggests memorials be to Special Olympics, 2400 Line Ave.,
   Amarillo, TX 79106.

   Theodore Roosevelt "Ted" Callaway
   
   Theodore  Roosevelt "Ted" Callaway, 87, of Amarillo died Sunday, April
   13, 2003.
   
   Services  will  be  at  11  a.m.  Friday in Memorial Park Funeral Home
   Chapel  of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Burial will be in Memorial
   Park Cemetery.
   
   Mr.  Callaway  was born in Floydada on Oct. 15, 1915. He served in the
   Army  Corps  of  Engineers  from  1933  to 1937, attaining the rank of
   corporal. He was a retired carpenter.
   
   He  was  preceded in death by his parents; a sister; three brothers; a
   son; and two grandchildren.
   
   Survivors  include  his wife, Eleanor; two daughters, Virginia Bobbitt
   of  Irving  and  Fay Wood of Sweet Home, Ore.; a son, Joey Callaway of
   Gervias,   Ore.;  10  grandchildren;  10  great-grandchildren;  and  a
   great-great-grandchild;

   Benny W. Holcomb, 56, of Amarillo died Tuesday, April 15, 2003.

   Mausoleum by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.
   
   Mr. Holcomb was born Nov. 10, 1946, in Memphis. He graduated from Palo
   Duro High School in 1965. He married Mary Montgomery in Jesup, Ga., in
   1967. He retired from Jack Cooper Trucking in 1996. He was a member of
   Teamsters  Local  0577.  Mr. Holcomb was a member of Southwest Baptist
   Church.
   
   Survivors  include  his  wife;  two daughters, Michelle Abrahamson and
   husband, Steve, and Jackie Womack and husband, Jimmy, all of Amarillo;
   two  sisters, Lana Brown and Sandra Battenfield, both of Amarillo; and
   a grandson, Caleb Womack.

   Merrill Waldron Buckles, 72, of Amarillo died Monday, April 14, 2003.
   
   Services  will be at 2 p.m. today in Mescalero Baptist Church with the
   Rev.  Kevin  Oakley,  pastor,  officiating. Burial will be in Memorial
   Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40.
   
   Mr.  Buckles was born Feb. 23, 1931, in Kiowa, Kan., to Dwight Eli and
   Gladys Alva Hendricks Buckles. He served in the Air Force from 1951 to
   1955.  He  was a member of the Amarillo Police Department from 1955 to
   1959,  director of Amarillo Animal Shelter from 1959 to 1976 and was a
   deputy  with  the Potter County Sheriff's Office from 1976 to 1990. He
   was a member of Palo Duro Masonic Lodge and Mescalero Baptist Church.
   
   He  was  preceded  in death by his father in 1991; his mother in 1994;
   and an infant sister in 1928.
   
   Survivors  include  his wife, Estelle; two daughters, Susan Dunlap and
   Cynthia  Fesler,  both  of  Amarillo; seven sons, Daniel Buckles, Paul
   Buckles,  Bill  Scott and Jim Scott, all of Amarillo, Steve Buckles of
   Pontotoc,  Miss., Patrick Scott of Canyon and Chuck Scott of Lewiston,
   Idaho;  a  sister,  Mauricia  Reeves  of Leon, Kan.; a brother, Curtis
   Buckles of Wichita, Kan.; 21 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren;
   and  two  special  friends,  Linda  Henry and Erin Smitherman, both of
   Canyon.

   Bobbie Gene Jackson
   
   Bobbie Gene Jackson, 66, of Amarillo died Monday, April 14, 2003.
   
   Services  will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Tascosa Road Fellowship with Jay
   Roberson,  pastor,  officiating.  Burial  will  be  in  Memorial  Park
   Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle.
   
   Mr.  Jackson  was  born  Sept. 8, 1936, in Laurinburg, N.C. He married
   Donna Keys on Aug. 11, 1960, in Amarillo. He served with the Air Force
   for 12 years, receiving an honorable discharge in 1967.
   
   Mr.  Jackson  was  a  letter carrier for the USPS and a member of NALC
   1031, prior to retiring in 1992.
   
   He  received  a  liver  transplant  on  Sept.  8, 1992, and encouraged
   everybody  to  become an organ donor and to make their wishes be known
   to their next-of-kin.
   
   He  was a member of Tascosa Road Fellowship where he was active in the
   choir. He was a generous and loving husband, dad and "Papa."
   
   Survivors  include  his  wife;  five  daughters,  Janice  Lewison  and
   husband,  Scott,  of  Humble, Kathy Owens, Anna Singletary and Velinda
   Pacheco and husband, Jerry, all of Amarillo, and Kim Graham of Poteau,
   Okla.;  a  son,  Bob  Jackson  Jr.  and wife, Lisa, of San Antonio; 15
   grandchildren,   Jennifer   Singletary,   Roger   Singletary,   Steven
   Singletary,  Alexa  Rae  Pacheco, Holly Noel Pacheco and Nicholas Ryan
   Pacheco,  all  of  Amarillo, Ryan Lewison of Austin, Keri Beth Lewison
   and Karly Lewison, both of Humble, Asha Jackson, Laurie Ann Stamey and
   Roger  Stamey,  all of San Antonio, and Emily Cooper, Tyler Graham and
   Jacob   Graham,  all  of  Poteau;  a  great-grandchild,  Raven  Brooke

   Ivan Gee Sr., 76, of Amarillo died Tuesday, April 15, 2003.
   
   Services  will be at 4 p.m. Friday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors
   Memorial  Chapel,  Fifth  Avenue and Pierce Street, with Paul White of
   Olsen  Park  Church of Christ officiating. Entombment will be in Llano
   Garden Mausoleum.
   
   Mr.  Gee lived in Amarillo the past 65 years. He was the retired owner
   of  Tri State Plumbing Co. Mr. Gee served in the Army during World War
   II.  He  married Fern Haynes on Aug. 15, 1943, in Boise City, Okla. He
   was a member of Olsen Park Church of Christ.
   
   He  was  preceded  in death by his wife on Nov. 24, 2000, in Amarillo;
   and a daughter, Kathryn Eileen Gee in 1946.
   
   Survivors include a daughter, Janice Perry of Amarillo; two sons, Ivan
   Gee  Jr.  and Michael Gee, both of Amarillo; a sister, Edith Foster of
   Dunn, N.C.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

   John Houston Doherty
   
   John Houston Doherty, 86, of Amarillo died Tuesday, April 15, 2003.
   
   Services  will  be  at 10 a.m. Friday in the Chapel of First Christian
   Church with James Cobb, pastor, officiating. Private burial will be in
   Llano  Cemetery  by  Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia
   Circle.
   
   Mr. Doherty was born March 17, 1917, in Bentonville, Ark. He had lived
   in  Amarillo  since  1929. During the depression, at the age of 12, he
   had his first job; selling newspapers on Polk Street.
   
   Before  his  14th  birthday  he  was  working  for  Fox Drug Store. He
   graduated from Amarillo High School in 1935 and that same year married
   Maurine Prater.
   
   He  served  his  country  during  World  War  II in the Air Force as a
   bombardier  on  a  B-17.  He was a POW for 11 months in Germany before
   being liberated by General George Patton's army in 1945.
   
   After  returning from the war, he worked for Cretney Drug at Sixth and
   Polk  Street  and later as a drug representative for Southwestern Drug
   Wholesale.  He  opened D&D Pharmacy with his partner Houston DeFord in
   1953.
   
   The  name  was  later  changed  to  D&S Pharmacy. He was a partner and
   manager  there until he sold his interest and retired. He was baptized
   at  First  Baptist  Church  shortly after moving to Amarillo. He was a
   charter member of Tascosa Country Club.
   
   He  was  preceded  in  death  by  his mother and father, Vivian Morris
   Doherty  and William Doherty; two sisters, Helen Doherty Hitchcock and
   Mildred Doherty; and a brother, William Eugene Doherty.
   
   Survivors include his wife of 68 years; two sons, Ray and wife, Danny,
   and David and wife, Vickie; grandchildren, Darla Gammons, Cyd Marusak,
   Dana Doherty and Katie Doherty, all of Amarillo, Dr. Amber Whittenburg
   of   Temple   and   Major   John   Doherty   of   San  Antonio;  seven
   great-grandchildren; two nieces; and a nephew.
   
   The  family  suggests celebrating the life of this kind and gentle man
   with  memorials  to  the Red Cross in honor of their endeavors for our
   troops who are serving our country; or to a favorite charity.

   Frankie Joe Wise, 60, of Amarillo died Tuesday, April 15, 2003.

   Mr.  Wise  was  born  and  raised  in Plainview. He served in the Army
   during  the  Vietnam  War.  He married his "soul-mate" Hughleene "Lee"
   Maynard in 1976. They worked as a team driving a truck for many years.
   
   He  was  a  talented  carpenter, loving father and devoted husband. He
   spent the last several months speaking to youth groups through the BSA
   Hospice  program.  He  was a devout Christian and member of River Road
   Fellowship Church.
   
   He was preceded in death by his wife in 1999.
   
   Survivors  include  three  daughters,  Gail  Bonjour, Teresa Blake and
   Debbie  Gordon,  all  of  Amarillo;  a  son, Aaron Wise of Amarillo; a
   sister,  Lahoma  Williams  of  Valley View; three grandchildren, James
   Benson  of Amarillo, Jason Bowers of Missouri and Kayte Bowers of Fort
   Bragg,  S.C.;  a  great-grandson,  Isaac  Yake of Fort Bragg; a niece,
   Vicky  Williams  of  Valley  View;  and  a  nephew,  Sonny Williams of
   Gainesville.

   Mrs.  Brotherton was born to Emmett and Ethel Richards Herd in Wheeler
   on Dec. 29, 1932. She graduated from Wheeler High School in 1951. Mrs.
   Brotherton married C.B. Brotherton Jr. on May 2, 1958, in Wheeler. She
   worked in several Wheeler businesses and retired from Wheeler Co-op in
   1989. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Wheeler.
   
   She   was   preceded  in  death  by  her  parents;  a  sister;  and  a
   granddaughter, Kayla.
   
   Survivors include her husband; a son, Gary Brotherton and wife, Kathy,
   of  Yukon,  Okla.;  and  three  grandchildren,  Ryan Brotherton, Janae

   Mr. McDowell was born July 29, 1912, in Carey. He was a farmer.

   Mrs. Whitten was born in Delwin and was a lifetime resident of Adrian.
   She  graduated  from Adrian High School and was a member of the Church
   of Christ.
   
   She  was  preceded  in  death by her husband, Elbert Ernest Whitten in
   1970.
   
   Survivors  include three sons, Jerry Whitten and Dale Whitten, both of

   Janie Espinosa; 23 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
   
   The  family  suggests  memorials be to St. John's Catholic Church, 201

   Lois A. Horne
   
   SHAMROCK - Lois A. Horne, 88, died Wednesday, April 16, 2003.
   
   Services  will  be  at  11 a.m. Friday in Calvary Christian Fellowship
   Church  with  Joe  G. Jernigan, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in
   the Shamrock Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors.
   
   Mrs.  Horne  had  lived  in Shamrock for 63 years. She was a member of
   First Baptist Church of Shamrock.
   
   Survivors  include  three  daughters,  Linda  Chaffin of Midland, Jann
   Cantrell  of  Denton  and Lynne Rice of Hobbs, N.M.; a brother, Donald
   Coker   of   Bakersfield,   Calif.;  seven  grandchildren;  and  eight
   great-grandchildren.

   REEDS  SPRING,  Mo. - Lydia Marie Eppison, 81, died Tuesday, April 15,
   2003.
   
   Services  will  be  at  2  p.m. Saturday in Trinity Lutheran Church in
   Borger  with  the  Rev.  Steve Misch, pastor of Good Shepherd Lutheran
   Church  of  Borger,  and  the  Rev. Roger Sterle, pastor of Our Savior
   Lutheran  Church  in  Vernal,  Utah,  officiating.  Burial  will be in
   Westlawn Cemetery of Borger by Brown Funeral Directors.
   
   Mrs.  Eppison was the owner of Eppison Automotive in Borger. She was a
   longtime Borger resident before moving to Missouri 10 years ago.
   
   Survivors  include  two sons, Denny Eppison of Pampa and Jimmy Eppison
   of  Nixa;  two  daughters,  Carolyn Zumalt of Reeds Spring and Shirley
   Sterle  of  Vernal,  Utah;  a sister, Emma Knaust of Pierce City; nine
   grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
