   The Rev. Allen C. Forbis
   
   LUBBOCK - The Rev. Allen C. Forbis, 82, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2001.
   
   Services  were  at  2 p.m. Saturday in Oakwood United Methodist Church
   with  the  Rev.  Jimmy  Nunn,  pastor,  officiating. Entombment was in
   Resthaven Memorial Park by Resthaven Funeral Home.
   
   The  Rev. Forbis was born June 14, 1918, at Grayson County. He married
   Ethelyn  Marr  on  June 14, 1939, at Lamesa. He graduated from Lubbock
   High  School  in  1934  and received his bachelor's degree in theology
   from  Texas  Tech  University. He also attended McMurry University and
   received his doctorate degree from Southern Methodist University.
   
   He  surrendered  to  God's call to the ministry at age 9 and began his
   first  pastorate at Petty when he was 19. He pastored throughout Texas
   and  New  Mexico for 48 years until his retirement in 1985. Several of
   his  churches  were  in the Texas Panhandle at Texline, Dumas, Morris,
   Hart, New Deal and Ropesville. His last church was at Artesia, N.M.
   
   After retirement he did visitation for Oakwood United Methodist Church
   and  delivered for Meals on Wheels and numerous other services. He was
   a member of Oakwood United Methodist Church and Lubbock Masonic Lodge.
   
   He was preceded in death by an infant daughter.
   
   Survivors  include  his  wife;  a son, Curtis Forbis of Haltom City; a
   daughter  Elizabeth  Dell of Florida; two sisters, Nana Burch and Mary
   Holton,    both    of    Amarillo;   six   grandchildren;   and   five
   great-grandchildren.
   
   The family suggests memorials be to Oakwood United Methodist Church.
   
   Always  a  dedicated  servant of God, he has laid down his weapon, put
   aside his armor and gone to meet his master.

   FRIONA - Marvin Childers, 89, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001.
   
   Graveside  services  will  be  at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Friona Cemetery

   Arrangements are by Ellis-Blackwell Funeral Home.
   
   Mr. Childers had lived in Friona for 40 years, moving there from Santa
   Fe, N.M.
   
   Survivors include nine nieces and 10 nephews.

   CHILDRESS - Inus Young Miller Hardin, 97, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2001,
   in San Angelo.

   with  Bill  Mayes officiating. Burial will be in Childress Cemetery by
   Johnson Funeral Home.
   
   Mrs.  Hardin  was a longtime resident of Childress County, residing on
   the  Miller  homestead farm west of town. She moved to San Angelo with
   her daughter in 1999.
   
   Survivors  include  a  daughter, Hazel Dorman of San Angelo; two sons,
   Arlon  Miller of DeRidder, La., and Duane Miller of Albuquerque, N.M.;
   12      grandchildren;      21      great-grandchildren;     and     a
   great-great-grandchild.

   Ruby Collins Goodnight
   
   PANHANDLE - Ruby Collins Goodnight, 92, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001.
   
   Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Panhandle First United Methodist
   Church with the Rev. Kathryn Boren officiating. Burial will be at 1:30
   p.m. Friday in Fairview Cemetery at Memphis by Minton-Chatwell Funeral
   Directors of Panhandle.
   
   Mrs.  Goodnight was born in Parker County on May 22, 1909. She grew up
   in  Medicine  Mound  and  moved  to  Memphis  in 1928. She married Leo
   Collins on Jan. 31, 1931, at Hollis, Okla. He preceded her in death in
   1951.  She married Hal Goodnight on Aug. 31, 1954, at Memphis. He died
   Aug.  23,  1990.  She  was  a member of Memphis First United Methodist
   Church  and was Hall County clerk for 28 years. She moved to Panhandle
   in 1997.
   
   Survivors  include  a son, Sam Goodnight of Levelland; five daughters,
   Ann  Collins  Cassidy  of  Panhandle,  Carolyn Collins Jackson of Fort
   Worth,  Linda  Collins  Thompson of Beaumont, Pat Goodnight of Memphis
   and  Jan Sustaire of Gold Beach, Ore.; five brothers, Jack Maddox, Ken
   Maddox  and Stan Maddox, all of Paris, Texas, Bob Maddox of Carrollton
   and  Tom  Maddox  of  Detroit,  Texas; two sisters, Mary Ann Harris of
   Tyler  and  Cecile Grange of White Deer; 12 grandchildren; and several
   great-grandchildren.
   
   The  family  suggests memorials be to St. Ann's Nursing Home, P.O. Box

   BORGER  - Charles "Keith" Johnson, 68, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2001, in
   Amarillo.
   
   Services  will  be  at  2  p.m.  Saturday  in  First Baptist Church of
   Stinnett  with  the  Rev.  Orville Rogers, pastor, officiating. Burial
   will  be  in Stinnett Cemetery by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of
   Borger.
   
   Mr.  Johnson  was  born  in Clayton, N.M., and had lived in the Borger
   area  since 1959. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Stinnett.
   He was a letter carrier for the Postal Service for 30 years and worked
   at Wal-Mart for the past nine years. He served in the Army. He married
   Mary Cooper on Oct. 5, 1958, at Clayton. He enjoyed flying.
   
   Survivors  include  his  wife;  a  brother-in-law,  Johnny  Cooper  of
   Clarendon; a sister, Freida Birdwell of Clayton; five nieces; and five
   nephews.

   Mrs.  Wilson  was born in Mobeetie. She was a checker at Jim's Grocery

   Mrs.  Shaffer  married  Gilbert  Eugene  Shaffer  on Dec. 11, 1927, at
   Shamrock.  She  had  lived in the Kelton and Twitty communities for 56
   years.

   Gage   of   Plainview   and  Wanda  Jean  McLaughlin  of  Claude;  six

   Mr.  Farley  married  Ida  Faulkner  on  April 15, 1945, at Turkey. He
   served in the Army during World War II.

   Mrs.  Lee  was born Oct. 20, 1913, at Kenton, Okla., to Henry and Anna
   Beerley. She was a member of Wilcox United Methodist Church.

   KILGORE  - The Rev. Chester E. Gleason, 84, formerly of Amarillo, died
   Monday, Oct. 22, 2001, in Longview.
   
   Memorial  services  will  be  at  10  a.m. today in Rader Funeral Home
   Chapel  with  the  Rev. Martin Foster officiating. Arrangements are by
   Rader Funeral Home.
   
   The  Rev.  Gleason  was  born March 15, 1917, at Amarillo, to Fred and
   Emma  Gleason. He was a graduate of Texas Christian University's Brite
   School  of Divinity. He served as pastor in Christian churches in Iowa
   Park,  Hobart,  Okla.,  McPherson, Kan., Pueblo, Colo., Gladewater and
   Selmon City.
   
   He  has  been  associated  with  numerous  youth  clubs,  Lay Preacher
   Training  Academy,  Boy Scouts of America, Ministerial Alliance, Lions
   Club  International,  Kilgore Oil Museum and the Kilgore Playhouse. He
   continued  to  serve  the  Lord  through  the  Tri-City  Nursing  Home
   Chaplaincy. He retired in 1998.
   
   He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Dee Rowland Gleason.
   
   Survivors  include  a son, Dr. Stephen D. Gleason and wife, Sandie, of
   Gladewater;  a  daughter, Judy Johnson and husband, Tim, of Tyler; two
   brothers,  Fred  Gleason  and  Bob  Gleason,  both  of Amarillo; three

   Mr.  Esparza was an Army veteran of World War II. He worked as an auto
   mechanic for many years.

   three  sons,  Lewis  Esparza and Leeroy Esparza, both of Amarillo, and

   Geraldine  "Gerry"  Lavender,  65, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Oct. 23,
   2001.

   the  Rev.  Michael  Carter,  pastor  of  River  Road  Baptist  Church,
   officiating. Arrangements are by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors,

   Mrs.  Lavender was born and raised in Seminole and graduated from high
   school there. She moved to Amarillo in 1965 from Seminole. She married
   Carl E. Lavender in 1965 at Amarillo. She was a Baptist.
   
   She  was  preceded  in death by a son, Larry Leroy Moore in 1992 and a
   grandson, Casey Hoyt Barton in 1997.
   
   Survivors  include  her  husband; four daughters, Regina Karl, Roxanne
   Singleton,  Carla  King  and  Katrina  Stover,  all  of  Amarillo; two
   granddaughters; eight grandsons; and two great-grandchildren.

   Will-Lina Clack, 93, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2001.
   
   Services  will  be  at  11 a.m. Friday in St. Peter's Episcopal Church
   with  the  Rev.  Mary  Glover of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church and the
   Rev.  John  Watson of St. Peter's Episcopal Church officiating. Burial
   will be in Llano Cemetery by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial
   Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street.
   
   Mrs.  Clack,  a  longtime  resident  of  Amarillo, was the daughter of
   Thomas  and  Jeannette  Shelton.  Early  in  life,  she moved with her
   parents to Shreveport, La., where she graduated from Richard Byrd High
   School. In 1928 she married Malcom H. Clack and shortly after moved to
   Amarillo.  Mr.  Clack  was  the  owner and operator of Clack Radio and
   Television Service and Audio/Video Corp. until his death in 1978.
   
   Mrs.  Clack  was  a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, traveling, sewing
   and  knitting.  In  the past several years she knitted several hundred
   pairs  of booties for patients at the Veterans Hospital Rehabilitation
   Center  in  Nebraska and the VA Hospital in Amarillo. She was a member
   of  St.  Andrew's Episcopal Church for more than 70 years. She and her
   husband were appointed foster parents to many children in the Amarillo
   area.
   
   She  was  preceded  in  death  by her parents; her husband; a brother,
   Thomas H. Shelton of Lafayette, La.; and a sister, Mignon Shelton Lake
   of New Orleans.
   
   Survivors  include four children, Will-Lina Royse and husband, George,
   of Grand Isle, Neb., Malcolm H. Clack and wife, Nita, of Amarillo, Tom
   S.  Clack  and  wife,  Kay,  of  San  Diego and Marilyn D. Everett and
   husband,  Roger,  of  Yukon,  Okla.; a foster daughter, Susan Baker of
   Oklahoma City; a sister, Tom-Jean Shelton Alexander of Amarillo; eight
   nieces and nephews; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and four
   great-great-grandchildren.

   Mrs.  Walcher  was  born  in  Bell  County  and had been a resident of
   Amarillo  for  60  years. She was a bookkeeper and accountant. She was
   the  longest-living  member  of San Jacinto Church of Christ. She held
   memberships  in  Optimist  Club  and  the  Auxiliary  of  the Amarillo
   Typographical Association.
   
   She was preceded in death by her husband, James Luther "Jimmy" Walcher
   on Feb. 16, 1996.
   
   Survivors  include  a  son,  Dr.  Ronald  Walcher of Baltimore, Md.; a
   grandson,  David  Walcher of Aberdeen, Md.; and a granddaughter, Susan
   Curran of Baltimore.

   Willie James Adams
   
   Willie James Adams, 66, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001.
   
   Services  will  be at 11 a.m. Friday in Community of Grace Church with
   the  Rev.  Dr.  Lynn Mims Mallory officiating. Burial will be in Llano
   Cemetery by Warford-Walker Mortuary, 509 N. Hughes St.
   
   Mr.  Adams  was  born Jan. 4, 1935, at Clarksville. He attended public
   schools in Canewell near Mount Pleasant. He moved to Amarillo in 1952.
   He  married  Shirley  Hines  on March 23, 1959. He was a member of New
   Hope  Baptist  Church  and  United  Steel Workers of America Union. He
   worked  for Elmer and Bob Powell for 17 years and ASARCO for 33 years,
   retiring  in  1996.  For  several  years  he  owned  and  operated the
   Dollhouse Nightclub and Ranchhouse Motel.
   
   He was preceded in death by a sister, Viergneter Wooten.
   
   Survivors  include his wife; three sons, Gerald Adams and James Victor
   Adams,  both  of  Amarillo, and Gary Adams Sr. of Houston; a daughter,
   Teresa  Adams of Amarillo; a stepdaughter, Rhonda Johnson of Amarillo;
   a  brother,  James  White  of  Dallas; two sisters, Ruby Nell Britt of
   Cooper and Clendell Mallory of Amarillo; and eight grandchildren.

   CLOVIS, N.M. - Naomi E. Cantrell-Rea, 75, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001.
   
   Services will be at 1 p.m today in Central Christian Church with Larry
   Tedrow,  pastor,  officiating.  Burial  will  be  in Mission Garden of
   Memories by Steed-Todd Funeral Home.
   
   Mrs. Cantrell-Rea was raised in Lazbuddie, Texas. She was an Air Force
   housing officer for 33 years for Cannon Air Force Base and Panama.
   
   Survivors  include  her husband, George; two sons, Michael Gegenheimer
   of   Vancouver,   Wash.,  and  Richard  Gegenheimer  of  Aztec;  three
   daughters,  Janet  Manahan of Battle Ground, Wash., Debbie Anderson of
   Artesia  and Karen Tidwell of Cannon AFB; a brother, Clifford Cantrell
   of  Ingram,  Texas;  three  sisters,  Ida Maye Hablerer of Round Rock,
   Texas,  Betty  Dillon  of  Grass  Valley, Calif., and Helen Precure of
   Lazbuddie; 19 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
   
   The  family  suggests  memorials be Plains Regional Medical Health and
   Hospice, 1600 W. 21st Suite A, Clovis, NM 88101.
