   FRITCH - Gertrude E. Wright, 89, died Friday, Sept. 24, 1999.
   
   Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Brown Funeral Directors Chapel of
   the Fountains in Borger. The Rev. Trey Robertson, pastor of First
   Southern Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Highland
   Park Cemetery in Borger.
   
   Mrs. Wright was a native of Guymon, Okla., and had lived in Fritch for
   22 years. She was a Methodist.
   
   Both her husband, Samuel J. "Dick" Wright, and her son, James Robert
   Wright, died in 1981.
   
   Survivors include a daughter, Willa Mae Heath of Albuquerque, N.M.; a
   sister, Josephine Hammon of Oklahoma City; three grandchildren; and
   four greatgrandchildren.
   
   Ernesto G. Salazar Sr.
   PLAINVIEW - Ernesto G. Salazar Sr., 60, died Friday, Sept. 24, 1999.
   
   Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Lemons Funeral Home Chapel.
   Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park.
   
   Mr. Salazar was born in Beeville. In 1975, he moved to Plainview,
   where he worked as a ginner.
   
   Survivors include his wife, Elida Salazar; five daughters, Janie
   Hinojosa, Evita Soto, Rosie Soto, Jessica Levario and Elida Chapman;
   four sons, Ernest Salazar Jr., Robert Salazar, Jerry Salazar and
   Michael Salazar; a brother; three sisters; 23 grandchildren; and four
   great-grandchildren.
   
   Russell Terrell
   STRATFORD - Russell Terrell, 89, died Friday, Sept. 24, 1999.
   
   Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Church of Christ with Mr. Mike
   Talley of the church officiating. Burial will be in Stratford Cemetery
   by Morrison Funeral Directors of Dumas.
   
   Mr. Terrell was born in Spiro, Okla., and was a Seismologist for the
   oil industry. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Stratford.
   
   He married Marguerite Wilson in 1958 at Clovis, N.M.
   
   Survivors include his wife; a son, John Wilson of Stratford; two
   grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
   
   The family will be at 519 N. Grace. They suggest memorials be to a
   favorite charity; or High Plains Children's Home, 11461 S. Western,
   Amarillo, TX 79118.
   
   Dixie Pittman
   TULIA - Dixie Pittman, 92, died Friday, Sept. 24, 1999.
   
   Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Abernathy Northside Baptist
   Church at Abernathy with the Rev. Ken Horn, pastor of Fellowship
   Baptist Church in Levelland, officiating. Burial will be in the
   Abernathy Cemetery by Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy.
   
   Mrs. Pittman was born in White Cliff, Ark., and had lived in Hale
   County since 1936. She moved to Tulia from Abernathy in 1984. She was
   a member of the Northside Baptist Church in Abernathy and attended the
   Calvary Baptist Church in Tulia.
   
   She married Cran Pittman at Crowell. He died in 1967.
   
   Survivors include a son, Billy Pittman of Earth; two daughters, Sammie
   Cagle of Clear Lake, Iowa, and Betty Hobgood of Happy; nine
   grandchildren; and 18 greatgrandchildren.
   
   The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity.
   
   J.C. Parvin
   FRIONA - J.C. Parvin, 67, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999.
   
   Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Calvary Baptist Church with the
   Rev. Alvin Petty officiating and the Rev. Ron Trussler of Plainview
   assisting. Burial will be in Friona Cemetery by EllisBlackwell Funeral
   Home.
   
   Mr. Parvin was born in Knox City and moved to Friona from Hereford in
   1958. For 19 years, he worked as a machinist at Parmer County Pump
   Company and then, for 14 years at Excel Meat Packing Plant, where he
   retired as Machine Foreman in 1994. He served with the Army during the
   Korean War, was active in the Friona Riding Club and was a member of
   the Calvary Baptist Church in Friona.
   
   He married Frances Lee Sparkman in 1972 at Roswell, N.M.
   
   Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Anita Pease of Phoenix,
   Teresa Gray of Las Vegas, Frances Drayton of Sacramento, Calif., and
   Rita Richardson of West Jordan, Utah; two sons, B.J. Parvin of San
   Diego and Darrell Collier of Seagraves; five sisters, Marie Mayfield
   of Brownwood, Vernell Barfield and Leta Joyce Goetz, both of
   Titusville, Fla., Jimmie Ruth Mayfield of Wichita Falls and Vera Mae
   Billingsly of Waldron, Ariz.; two brothers, Noel Ray Parvin of
   Amarillo and Billy Wayne Parvin of Wichita Falls; 12 grandchildren;
   and 13 greatgrandchildren.

   Bobby D. Rannals
   Bobby D. Rannals, 52, of Amarillo, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999.
   
   Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Llano Cemetery with
   the Rev. Robert Field, pastor of Southeast Baptist Church,
   officiating. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors,
   Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Rd.
   
   Mr. Rannals was a painter and a Baptist.
   
   Survivors include his wife, Jean Rannals of Amarillo; a son, Robby
   Rannals of Borger; his mother, Ida Piland of Borger; a brother,
   Stanley Rannals of Amarillo; and a grandchild.
   
   The family will be at 916 N. Mirror No. 84. Viewing will be from 9
   a.m. until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

   Alyce Holbert
   Alyce Holbert, 80, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 1999.
   
   Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Saturday in Memory Gardens Cemetery
   with the Rev. Claud Tugwell officiating. Arrangements were by
   Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St.
   
   Mrs. Holbert was born in Childress County and moved to Amarillo in
   1972 from Ohio. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
   
   She was preceded in death by her husband, Rex Holbert, and by a son,
   Robert Scheu.
   
   Survivors include a sister, Adrian Gibson of San Angelo; five
   grandchildren; and seven grandchildren.
   
   The family suggests memorials be to American Heart Association or a
   favorite charity.
   
   Lula Witt Phillips-Turner
   Lula Witt Phillips-Turner, 79, of Amarillo, and formerly of Childress,
   died Friday, Sept. 24, 1999.
   
   Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Rector Funeral Home Chapel, 2800
   S. Osage St., with Bob Miller, pastor of South Georgia Baptist Church,
   officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in City of
   Childress Cemetery with Kerry Wood, minister of music at First Baptist
   Church of Childress, officiating.
   
   Mrs. Phillips-Turner was born in Coleman. During the late 1950s and
   early 1960s, she was a licensed vocational nurse at Childress General
   Hospital in surgery and obstetrics. She was the director of the
   Bloodmobile on several occasions.
   
   Mrs. Phillips-Turner later worked for St. Anthony's Hospital in
   Amarillo. In 1966, she worked for John G. Whinery Sr., D.D.S., as a
   dental assistant. She was a member of First Baptist Church in
   Childress.
   
   She first married Leonard Roy Phillips in 1936 at Hollis, Okla. He
   died in 1982. Her second marriage was to Eldridge Turner in 1986. He
   died in 1992.
   
   Survivors include a daughter, Barbara J. Lyons of Timbercreek Canyon;
   two sisters, Vernice Choisser and Mariam Yarbrough, both of Amarillo;
   and a brother, Joe Witt of Bakersfield, Calif.
   
   The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, memorials be to Baptist St.
   Anthonys Hospice and Life Enrichment Center.
   
   Mary Meander
   Mary Meander, 69, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 1999.
   
   Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in St. John Baptist Church with the
   Rev. Grover Neal, pastor, and Bishop Horace Stacey, pastor of The
   Temple of Praise F.C.O.G.I.C. In Jesus Name officiating. Burial will
   be in Llano Cemetery by WarfordWalker Mortuary, 509 N. Hughes St.
   
   Mrs. Meander was born in Sylvania, Ga. She attended public school in
   both Sylvania and in Gould, Fla. In 1948, she moved to Amarillo, where
   she worked as a private housekeeper and for the Amarillo Independent
   School District until her retirement.
   
   Survivors include four sons, Charles Meander and Weldon Conyers, both
   of Amarillo, Darrell Meander of Houston and Roosevelt Mobley of
   Sylvania, Ga.; eight daughters, Debra Pruitt, Pamela Price, Sharon
   Thompson, Janice Timmons and Shirley Johnson Hawthorne, all of
   Amarillo, Drucilla Meander of Houston and Betty Allen and Jimmie Dale
   Conyers, both of Atlanta; 31 grandchildren; and 21
   great-grandchildren.
   
   The family will be at 209 S. Bellview.
   
   Roy Flay Brown
   Roy Flay Brown, 86, of Amarillo, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999.
   
   Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel
   of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with Bishops Bill Boswell and
   Bruce Johnston officiating. Entombment will be in Memorial Park
   Mausoleum East.
   
   Mr. Brown was born in Texhoma and graduated from Texhoma High School
   in 1931. He attended electrical school in Chicago and was an
   electrician in California and Arizona until his retirement in 1978 at
   Snowflake, Ariz. He moved to Amarillo nine years ago from Dalhart.
   
   He married Erva Clara Ebbert in 1946 at Staunton, Va.
   
   He is survived by his wife.
   
   Memorials may be made to Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice and Life
   Enrichment Center.

   Louise Meacham
   TURKEY - Louise Meacham, 95, of Glen Rose and formerly of Turkey, died
   Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999.
   
   Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Saturday in Dreamland Cemetery in
   Turkey with the Rev. Melvin Clinton, pastor of First Baptist Church,
   officiating. Arrangements were by Myers-Long Funeral Directors of
   Turkey.
   
   Mrs. Meacham was born in Comanche. She was a charter member of the
   First Baptist Church and the Muevo Study Club and a member of the
   Order of Eastern Star.
   
   She married Paul Meacham in 1927 at Turkey. He died in 1996.
   
   Survivors include her daughter, Jeanette Miller of Granbury; a sister,
   Grace Todd of Comanche; two grandchildren; and two
   great-grandchildren.
   
   Virginia H. Cowart
   PERRYTON - Virginia H. Cowart, 66, of Marshall, died Friday, Sept. 24,
   1999.
   
   Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Ochiltree Cemetery with
   the Rev. Michael Waterbury officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell
   Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton.
   
   Mrs. Cowart was born in Floydada and lived in Dimmitt for 30 years.
   She worked for the city of Dimmitt and the Dimmitt Police Department.
   In 1985, she moved to Marshall.
   
   She married Rex M. Cowart in 1967 at Clovis, N.M.
   
   Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Terrye Swink of Perryton;
   two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
   
   The family suggests memorials be to Longview Cancer Center, 1300 N.

   Onnie Griffin
   BOOKER - Onnie Griffin, 88, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999.
   
   Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in United Methodist Church with the
   Rev. Carl Thorell officiating. Burial will be in Heart Cemetery by
   Good Samaritan Funeral Service of Booker.
   
   Mr. Griffin was born in Merit and moved to Booker in 1930 where he was
   an auto mechanic and helped on farms. During World War II, he moved to
   Dallas where he was employed at the Lockheed Aircraft Modification
   Center. Following the war, he moved to Perryton and worked for the
   airport before returning to Booker.
   
   Mr. Griffin worked as a welder, a mechanic and a rancher. In 1952, he
   moved to the Rutledge farm in Beaver County, Okla., then returned to
   Booker in 1965. He worked during the summers for Fronk Oil Co., and
   Russell Sell International Farm Equipment during the winters until his
   retirement in 1983.
   
   He married Grace Rutledge in 1932 at Beaver.
   
   Survivors include his wife; a son, Ray Griffin of Perryton; a
   daughter, Phyllis Pitts of El Dorado, Kan.; a brother, Mather Griffin
   of Hilltop Lakes, Texas; five grandchildren; and seven
   great-grandchildren.
   
   The family suggests memorials be to United Methodist Church of Booker.
   
   Bobby Glen Pruet
   DUMAS - Bobby Glen Pruet, 70, died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 1999.
   
   Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday in Calvary Baptist Church with Scott
   Willingham of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in
   Northlawn Memorial Gardens by Morrison Funeral Directors.
   
   Mr. Pruet was born in Carter, Okla., and was a veteran of the Korean
   War. He was a truck driver and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
   
   He married Jimmie Ruth Carter in 1954 at Borger. She died in 1990.
   
   Survivors include a son, James Pruet of Garland; a daughter, Gwen
   Pruet of Rockwall; a sister, Betty Jo Strobel of Burnsflat, Okla.; and
   five brothers, Henry Pruet of El Paso, Alford Pruet of Biloxi, Miss.,
   Leon Pruet of Elk City, Okla., Boyd Pruet of Oklahoma City, Okla., and
   James L. Pruet of Sayre, Okla.

   Juana Garcia Ramos
   TULIA - Juana Garcia Ramos, 91, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999.
   
   Services were at 10 a.m. Saturday in Church of the Holy Spirit with
   the Rev. John Salazar-Jimenez officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill
   Cemetery by Wallace Funeral Home of Tulia.
   
   Mrs. Ramos was born in Luling. She married Emigdio Ramos in 1930 at
   Seguin. He died in 1976.
   
   Survivors include eight daughters and five sons, Maria Ramos, Ventura
   Ramos and Jesus Ramos, all of Tulia, Marcelina Harrell of Houston,
   Ysidoro Ramos of Rowlett, Emigdio Ramos of Oshkosh, Mich., Juan Ramos
   of Troy, Mich., Frances Ramos of Seattle, Petra Porras of Chicago, Joe
   Ramos of Lawton, Okla., Guadalupe Diaz of Amarillo, Flora Burton of
   Country Club Hills, Ind., and Irene Prado of Joshua; 39 grandchildren;
   and 19 great-grandchildren.
   
   Ervin Vancil Stone Sr.
   BORGER - Ervin Vancil Stone Sr., 73, died Friday, Sept. 24, 1999.
   
   Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church chapel with
   the Rev. Gregg Simmons, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in
   Memorial Park Cemetery in Amarillo by Brown Funeral Directors of
   Borger.
   
   A native of Wichita Falls, Mr. Stone had lived in Borger for 47 years.
   During World War II, he served in the Marines. He retired after 42
   years as a salesman for Amarillo Hardware Co.
   
   Mr. Stone was a member of First Baptist Church, Elks No. 1581,
   Scottish Rite, Eastern Star No. 811, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No.
   1787 and American Legion No. 231. He was a charter member of Adobe
   Walls No. 1355.
   
   He married Betty Banister in 1946 at Hedley. He was preceded in death
   by two daughters, Vickey Elaine Stone in 1950 and Paula McKown in
   1998.
   
   Survivors include his wife; a son, Vance Stone of Fritch; a daughter,
   Pam Butler of Amarillo; two brothers, Kenneth Stone of Higgins and
   Joel Stone of Lubbock; eight grandchildren; and three
   greatgrandchildren.
   
   The family suggests memorials be to Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice, 800
   N. Summer St., Pampa, TX 79065; or Texas Elks Children's Services, Rt.
   5, Box 185, Gonzales, TX 78629.
   
   Bruce Dettle
   STRATFORD - Bruce Dettle, 54, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999.
   
   Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Stratford Cemetery
   with the Rev. Rob Chandler of First Christian Church of Stratford
   officiating. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors.
   
   Mr. Dettle was born in Dalhart and was a former longtime Stratford
   resident. He had lived in Amarillo for several years.
   
   He is survived by his father, Jack N. Dettle, and a brother, Gary N.
   Dettle, both of Stratford.
   
   The family will be at 1218 Butler in Stratford. They suggest memorials
   be to ADVO, 2736 W. 10th, Amarillo, TX 79102; or First Christian
   Church, P.O. Box 626, Stratford, TX 79084.
   
   Eugene Smith
   McLEAN - Eugene "Debs" Smith, 87, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999.
   
   Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in Hillcrest Cemetery with
   Hershel Smith of Clarendon officiating. Arrangements are by Lamb
   Funeral Home of McLean.
   
   Mr. Smith was born in Pike, Love County, Okla. He had lived in McLean
   and Turkey where he farmed before moving to Amarillo. He retired from
   the City of Sunnyvale, Calif., then spent time along the Oregon Coast.
   He was a Baptist.
   
   He married Esther Pauline Smith in 1932 at Sayre, Okla.
   
   Survivors include his wife; three sons, Charles Eugene Smith of
   Buffalo Gap, Earl Wayne Smith of Sacramento, Calif., and Lawrence
   Smith of Stockton, Calif.; a daughter, Helen Smith Williams of
   Oakland, Calif.; a brother, Alan Smith of McLean; a sister, Ann
   Harbour of Brookings, Ore.; 12 grandchildren; and 13
   greatgrandchildren.
   
   Alpha E. Rath
   PAMPA - Alpha E. Rath, 87, died Friday, Sept. 24, 1999.
   
   Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Fairview Cemetery with
   the Rev. Todd Dyess, pastor of First United Methodist Church,
   officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
   
   Mrs. Rath was born in Sheltie, Kan., where she graduated from high
   school in 1929. In 1939, she moved to the Webb area and in 1944, to
   Pampa. She attended cosmetology school in 1961 and, in 1962, opened
   Alpha's Beauty Corner.
   
   She married George A. Rath in 1931 at Florence, Kan. He died in 1969.
   Her grandson, Alvin McAnally, died in 1978.
   
   Survivors include three daughters, Margaret Randall of Pampa, Nancy
   McAnally of Richland and Donna Bybee of Lubbock; a son, Richard Rath
   of Tulsa, Okla.; 11 grandchildren; and 19 greatgrandchildren.
   
   The family will be at 1041 S. Faulkner. They suggest memorials be to

   Bill Self
   SILVERTON - Bill Self, 69, died Friday, Sept. 24, 1999.
   
   Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Silverton Cemetery
   with Mr. Ted Kingery officiating. Arrangements are by Myers-Long
   Funeral Directors.
   
   Mr. Self was born in Briscoe County. He served with the Marine Corps
   during the Korean War and was a disabled veteran.
   
   He married Valvrie Honea in 1952 at Weatherford.
   
   Survivors include his wife; two sons, Thomas Warren Self of Abilene
   and David Lee Self of Silverton; a brother, J.L. Self of Silverton;
   three sisters, Deal McGowen of Alamo and Lou Younger and Zobie Self,
   both of Silverton; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

   Loyd Eugene Hoefer
   SMITHVILLE - Loyd Eugene Hoefer, 78, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999.
   
   Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Wood-Dunning Funeral Home
   Colonial Chapel at Plainview with the Rev. Don Hill, minister of
   Calvary Baptist Church in Tulia, officiating. Burial will be in
   Plainview Cemetery at Plainview.
   
   Mr. Hoefer was born in Driftwood, Okla., and lived in Englewood,
   Calif., before moving to Kress in 1977. In Kress, he was a member of
   First Baptist Church, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Elks
   Lodge and Senior Citizens. He retired as a carpenter in 1972. In 1992
   he moved to the Bastrop area and lived in the Towers Nursing Home in
   Smithville.
   
   He married Helen J. Conde in 1947.
   
   Survivors include his wife of Bastrop; a son, Kirk Hoefer of Bastrop;
   a daughter, Candy Gerber of Bayfield, Colo.; a sister, Johnnie Fay
   Green of Los Angeles; and six grandchildren.
   
   Jay Marshall Chisum
   DALHART - Jay Marshall Chisum, 37, died Friday, Sept. 24, at Lakin,
   Kan.
   
   Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in First Christian Church.
   Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Hass Funeral Home.
   
   Mr. Chisum was born in Dalhart, where he graduated in 1980. He
   attended Oklahoma Panhandle State University, West Texas Barber
   College and West Texas A&M University. From 1984 until 1991, he owned
   and operated Chisum's Barbershop in Dalhart. He worked for Buff
   Barbershop in Canyon, the East Marino Valley Ranch in Red River, N.M.,
   and the UU Bar Ranch in Cimarron, N.M. In January, he moved with his
   family to Lakin, Kan., where he worked for Kearny County Feeders.
   
   He married Judy Gayle Evans in 1981 at Miami.
   
   Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Jacee Maree Chisum and
   JoEvan Brooke Chism, both of the home; a son, Jesse Marshall of the
   home; his parents, Marshall Leon "Buck" and Nancy Beth Chisum of
   Dalhart; two brothers, Joel Wayne Chisum of Brush, Colo., and Jeff
   Bartley Chisum of Amarillo; a sister, Julie Lind Chisum of Lubbock;
   and his grandmother, Lucille Marshall of Dalhart.
   
   A Jay Chisum Memorial Fund has been established at Dalhart Federal
   Savings and Loan.

   Raymond J. Cruz
   CLAYTON, N.M. - Raymond J. Cruz, 84, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999.
   
   Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Saturday and will be recited at 7 p.m.
   today in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Funeral mass will be at
   10 a.m. Monday in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with the Rev.

   Mr. Cruz was born in Pasamonte, N.M., and was a lifelong resident of
   the Clayton area. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic
   Church.
   
   He married Ida Perea in 1933 at Clayton. He was preceded in death by
   two daughters and a son as infants.
   
   Survivors include his wife; six daughters; Marcella Madrid and Lena
   Cruz, both of Clayton; Angie Martinez and Cathy Segovia, both of
   Liberal, Kan., and Martha Cruz and Ernestine Duran, both of Guymon,
   Okla.; four sons, Joe Cruz and Lawrence Cruz, both of Guymon, and
   Frank Cruz and Raymond Cruz Jr., both of Clovis; 27 grandchildren; 57
   greatgrandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
   
   Lada Dell Jennings Davis
   CLOVIS, N.M. - Lada Dell Jennings Davis, 79, died Friday, Sept. 24,
   1999.
   
   Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in The Chapel, 1500 Thornton, with
   the Rev. Cecil Bunch officiating. Cremation will be by Muffley Funeral
   Home.
   
   Mrs. Davis was born in Texico, N.M., and lived in Clovis for most of
   her life. Her family was one of the first settlers in the original
   township of what is now known as Riley Switch and she helped operate
   the family farm in both New Mexico and Texas. She was a homemaker and
   a member of the 21st Street Church of Christ.
   
   She married Bernard "B.P." Davis in 1938 at Clovis.
   
   Survivors include her husband; a son, Ashley Davis of Lubbock; two
   daughters, Carla Caley and Connie Reiser, both of Dallas; four
   grandchildren; and four greatgrandchildren.

   Gene Moreland Haynes
   TUCUMCARI, N.M. - Gene Moreland Haynes, 61, died Thursday, Sept. 23,
   1999.
   
   Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Center Street United
   Methodist Church with the Revs. Scott Seymour, of the church, and Gene
   Richardson officiating. Burial will be in the family plot in Tucumcari
   Memorial Park Cemetery by Dunn Funeral Home.
   
   Mr. Haynes was born in Clovis and moved to Tucumcari in 1948. He was a
   brakeman-conductor for Southern Pacific Railroad, where he had worked
   for 43 years. He was a member of the Tucumcari Masonic Lodge AF&AM No.
   27 and B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 1127.
   
   Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Haynes; a daughter, Erin Elizabeth
   Haynes of Tucumcari; two brothers, David Haynes of Santa Rosa, Calif.,
   and Wallace Haynes of Santa Fe, N.M.; and a sister, Ina V. Ogden of
   Lodi, Calif.
   
   Viewing will be from 9 a.m. today until service time Monday at the
   funeral home.

   Freddie Lee Johnson
   GRANTS, N.M. - Freddie Lee Johnson, 57, died Wednesday, Sept. 22,
   1999.

   Clovis with the Rev. R.L. Smith officiating.
   
   Mr. Johnson was born in Amarillo and was a laborer.
   
   Survivors include two sons, Joe Allen English of Wichita, Kan., and
   Fredrick Johnson of Clovis; a daughter, Freddie Jean Taylor of
   Colorado Springs, Colo.; his mother, Georgia McPherson of Clovis; a
   stepbrother, Eugene English of Amarillo; five grandchildren; and a

   Harley H. Winters
   CLOVIS, N.M. - Harley H. Winters, 76, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999.
   
   Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Sandia Baptist Church with Dr.
   James Burke officiating and the Revs. Ed Modrick and Hoyt Welch
   assisting. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens by Steed-Todd
   Funeral Home.
   
   Mr. Winters was born in Mangum, Okla., and had lived in Clovis since
   1962. He taught school at Ranchvale and at James Bickley until his
   retirement in 1977. After his retirement, he substituted for many
   years. He was a member of Sandia Baptist Church.
   
   He married Ruby "Nell" Laxson in 1948 at Bethel. She died in 1989.
   
   Survivors include two sons, Harley C. Winters of Clovis and John D.
   Winters of Liberal, Kan.; and a brother, John Eldred Winters of
   Carlsbad.

   Flora Longbrake
   GUYMON - Flora Longbrake, 87, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999.
   
   Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Henson-Novak Funeral Directors
   Chapel with the Rev. Terry Davison, pastor First Baptist Church,
   Texhoma, officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery.
   
   Mrs. Longbrake was born in Terry County, Texas and graduated from
   Brownfield High School in 1929. She also had lived in Skellytown and
   Stinnett.
   
   Mrs. Longbrake was a Girl Scout leader, served on the Texas County
   Election board, was a charter member of the No Man's Land Senior
   Citizens Center and had been a member of Victory Memorial United
   Methodist Church. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Texhoma.
   
   She married Otis Longbrake in 1931. He died in 1975.
   
   Survivors include two daughters, Grace Schafer of Texhoma, and Nelda
   Latrelle Smith of Logan, N.M.; two sons, Ronald Ben Longbrake of
   Medway, Ohio., and Kenny Longbrake of Cushing; 11 grandchildren; and
   18 great-grandchildren.
   
   Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

   John Milam Mothershead
   MIDLAND - John Milam Mothershead, 73, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999.
   
   Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Cleburne Cemetery in
   Cleburne. Arrangements are by Ellis Funeral Home in Midland.
   
   Mr. Mothershead was born in Amarillo. During World War II, he served
   as an enlisted man in the Navy. He graduated in 1949 from the
   University of Texas with a bachelor degree in geology. After
   graduation, he worked for Ohio Company (Marathon) in Wichita Falls and
   Amarillo.
   
   Mr. Mothershead served as an officer in the Air Force during the
   Korean War. He worked for the Ohio Company in Midland and Drilling and
   Exploration in Dallas. He moved to Midland in 1966.
   
   In 1968, Mr. Mothershead became an independent geologist. He was a
   longtime member and treasurer for the Society of Professional Earth
   Scientists.
   
   He married his wife, Ginger, in 1950. She died in 1996.
   
   Survivors include a daughter, Jean of Midland; and two sons, George of
   Houston and Jimmy of New Orleans.
   
   Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
   
   Neoma Stringer
   LUBBOCK - Neoma Stringer, 76, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999.
   
   Graveside services were at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in Resthaven Memorial
   Park with the Rev. Bill Couch, pastor of Lakeridge United Methodist
   Church, officiating. Arrangements were by Resthaven Funeral Home of
   Lubbock.
   
   Mrs. Stringer was born in Wheeler and moved to Lubbock from Amarillo
   in 1988. She was a bookkeeper for the Smith and Thompson Co., in
   Amarillo and, with her husband, owned Plainview Hardware Store in
   Plainview. She was a Methodist.
   
   She married Truman Stringer in 1947 at Hedley. He died in 1991.
   
   Survivors include a son, Johnny Stringer of Lubbock, and two
   grandchildren.

   Mary L. Souder
   EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Mary L. Souder, 78, died Monday, Sept. 20, 1999.

   Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Ziemer Funeral Home North
   Chapel continued at 11 a.m. in St. Theresa Catholic Church with the

   Park Cemetery.
   
   In 1980, Mrs. Souder retired from the Social Security office after 25
   years. She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church.
   
   She married Ray J. Souder 52 years ago.
   
   Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Gloria J. Morton of
   Tacoma, Wash., and Sarah E. Johnston of Amarillo; two sons, Robert A.
   Souder and Ronald A. Souder, both of Evansville; a brother, A.L. Sonny
   Martinez of Rockdale, Texas; three sisters, Sofia Villareal and Elvira
   Montalvo, both of Weslaco, Texas, and Juanita Gonzalez of Harlingen,
   Texas; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

   Coy Irene Terrell Kemp
   LUMBERTON - Coy Irene Terrell Kemp, 84, died Friday, Sept. 24, 1999.

   Floydada. Arrangements are by Broussard's Mortuary of Beaumont.
   
   Mrs. Kemp was a longtime resident of Lumberton and retired as a meat
   server at Wyatt's Cafeteria.
   
   Survivors include her daughter, Judy Ann Chester of Beaumont; a
   sister, Verline Smith of Amarillo; four grandchildren; and six
   great-grandchildren.
   
   A.J. Emmons
   ELECTRA - A.J. "Buster" Emmons, 88, died Friday, Sept. 24, 1999.
   
   Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church with the
   Rev. Jack T. Riley, pastor, officiating. Graveside services will be at
   2 p.m. in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon. Arrangements are by Dutton
   Funeral Home.
   
   Mr. Emmons was born in Wise County and had lived in Clarendon before
   moving to Electra eight years ago. He was retired from the state of
   Texas Highway Department and was a member of First Baptist Church.
   
   He married Bertha Emmons in 1929 at Hall County. She died in 1991. His
   daughter, Bobbie Whitney, died in 1989.
   
   Survivors include two daughters, Patsy Hefley Duensing of Electra and
   Gladene LaGrove of Ruidoso, N.M.; a son, B.W. "Butch" Emmons of
   Conroe; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four
   great-great-grandchildren.

   BOGATA - Dinia Kay Burson, 54, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999, at
   Wichita Falls.
   
   Services will be at 3 p.m. today in Bogata Missionary Baptist Church
   with the Revs. Billy Daniels and Kenny Dickson officiating. Burial
   will be in Cuthand Cemetery by Wood Funeral Home.
   
   Mrs. Burson was born in Clarksville. She was a Realtor and stock
   broker and had worked at Edward D. Jones and Company of Paris.
   
   She was a former resident of Canyon, where she graduated from high
   school and attended West Texas State University.
   
   Survivors include a son, Junior Burson of San Antonio; four daughters,
   Beverly Taylor of Talco, Sabre Burson of Wichita Falls, Sabrina Tucker
   of Bogata and Debbie Burson of Dallas; her mother, Jettie Bond of
   Bogata; two brothers, Ross Bond of Cookville and Doug Bond of Bogata;
   and nine grandchildren.
