Obituaries


R.L. Thompson

R.L. Thompson, a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and lifetime member of VFW, 
passed away on Aug. 11, 2008 in Trinity, at the age of 81.

R.L. was born in Streetman, Texas, on Jan. 30, 1927, to Robert Lee and Bertha Lee 
Thompson.

R.L. was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Doris Marie; one brother, 
Joe Kenneth Thompson; and great-grand-daughter, Angel Nicole Thompson.

He is survived by three sisters, Mary Janowski and husband Leo of Frankston, 
Texas, Betty Dyer of Bristow, Okla., and Virginia Myska and husband Kenneth of 
McAllen, Texas; his wife, Velma Thompson of Trinity, Texas; two daughters, Linda 
Thompson of Austin, Texas, and Brenda Wilmarth of Trinity, Texas; five sons, Bob 
Thompson and wife Faye of Trinity, Texas, John Thompson and wife Cindy of 
Huntsville, Texas, James Cook and wife Connie of Corpus Christi, Texas, Willie 
Cook of Alvin, Texas, and Bryan Cook and wife Bobi of Angleton, Texas; 22 
grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Wednesday night, Aug. 13, 2008, from 6-8 p.m. at Burning 
Hope Baptist Church in Trinity, Texas.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008, at 10 a.m. at Burning Hope 
Baptist Church with Brother Jim Parrish officiating. Burial will take place at 
Cade Cemetery in Streetman, Texas.
