Information extracted from Burnet County History, Vol II; Researched by Darrell Debo 

from the Hoover file in the Herman Brown Free Library in Burnet from material gathered 

by the late Mrs. John Dudik.



Jacob T. HOOVER, a brother of Isaac HOOVER, was born August 22, 1825, in Tennessee, 

died October 7, 1892, in Burnet County, Texas, and was buried in Hoover's Valley Cemetery. 

He was married c. 1848 in Tennessee to Elizabeth ____, who was born December 22, 1824, 

died June 19, 1911, in Burnet County, Texas, and was also buried in Hoover's Valley Cemetery.



Jacob was the son of Martin HOOVER, who was born January 5, 1777, and died February 11, 1862, 

in Tennessee. His mother was Sallie Bradford HOOVER, who was born January 25, 1791, and died 

February 28, 1864, in Tennessee. Martin and Sallie were married c. 1808.

Vol II. Jacob and Elizabeth HOOVER came to Texas and Burnet County in 1853 with the Isaac 

HOOVER family and settled in the same region.)



The children of Jacob and Elizabeth HOOVER, all born in Texas, except the first two, are as 

follows:



1. John, born in 1849 in Tennessee and married Elizabeth ___.



*2. Andrew Jackson (Jack), born in 1851 in Tennessee and married July 14, 1870, 

in Burnet County to Sarah Rebecca RAWLINGS, who was born 6 Sep 1847. Jack died 

31 March 1899 in Cross Plains, Texas and is buried at Cottonwood Cemetery in Callahan 

County. Sarah died 19 April 1923 in Burnet, Texas and is buried at Toby Cemetery. Their 

children were: Charles C., Will, Jeff, Sara Elizabeth, Mary Thankful, Annie, Rosa, Sara 

Emma, and Jake.



Mary Thankful HOOVER, born in Burnet County in 1878, married Joseph David STEWART, Sr. 

abt 1898. They were living in McCullough County in 1920 with their children Jewel, Norine, 

Docia, and Joseph, Jr. Joseph STEWART Jr. married Dorothy DANIELS, in 1941.



3. Peter Kerr, born in 1853 in Burnet County, Texas, and married May 19, 1875, in Burnet 

County to Mary Lucinda (Mollie)DUNCAN.



4. Isaac Logan Vandeveer, born November 6, 1854, died August 30, 1918, and buried in 

Hoover's Valley Cemetery. He was married May 16, 1874, in Burnet County to Mary Roseann ODEN, 

who was born August 15, 1857, died August 27, 1938, and was buried at Hoover's Valley Cemetery. 

They were the parents of 13 children, two dying in infancy. (names of children and other info 

on this family are in the Burnet County History, Vol II, page 158.)



5. Robert F. (Bob), born in 1856 and married May 5, 1876 in Burnet County to Alice MALONE.



6. Ella T., born January 25, 1858, died November 9, 1886, and was burried in Hoover's Valley 

Cemetery. She was married May 26, 1875, in Burnet County to John C. TEDFORD.



7. Anna E. (Annie), born in 1860 and married Dec 23, 1875, in Burnet County to Robert R. HOWARD.



8. Martha S. (Mattie), born in 1861 and married December 5, 1877, in Burnet County to Dawson S. 

RAWLINGS.



9. Seth Kenneth (Dick), born November 16, 1864, died July 5, 1932, and was buried in 

Hoover's Valley Cemetery. He was married January 2, 1889, to Nancy Angelernia DAVIS, 

who was born December 29, 1865, died April 30, 1952, and was buried in Hoover's Valley 

Cemetery. (The names and birthdates of their 8 children are in the Burnet County History, 

Vol II, page 159.)



10. C.H. (female), born in 1867 and married July 14, 1887 in Burnet County to A.D.D. Lane.
