 ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. -- Naomi E. Allison, 88, formerly of
 Pounding Mill, Va., died Friday, Nov. 19, 1999.
 She was the widow of the late Curtis Allison.

 Richlands.

 Charles F. Barr Sr.

 KONNAROCK, Va. -- Charles F. Barr Sr., 79, died Saturday, Nov. 20,
 1999, in Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon.
 He was a lifelong resident of Washington County, Va., a son of the late
 Edward and Amanda Hart Barr, and was of the Baptist faith.
 Surviving are his wife, Mary H. Barr; four daughters, Joann Wilson and Margie
 South, both of Damascus, Juanita Fain and Mary Sue Barr, both of
 Konnarock; two sons, Lewis D. Barr of Konnarock and John Bartfai of
 Aberdeen, Md.; two sisters, Winnie Morris of Melbourne, Fla., and Ora Berry
 of Roseville, Mich.; 28 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several
 nieces and nephews.
 Mr. Barr was also preceded in death by a son, Charles Barr Jr.
 Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 8 p.m. in Johnson Funeral
 Home Chapel. The Revs. Charles E. "Jody" Blevins and Tim Blevins will
 officiate. Graveside services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Konnarock
 Community Cemetery.
 Pallbearers will be selected from the family.
 The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Monday prior to the
 funeral service in Johnson Funeral Home.

 Billy J. Bray

 CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Billy J. Bray, 68, formerly of Coeburn, died
 Friday, Nov. 19, 1999, in Charlottesville.
 He was a son of the late Ernest B. and Violet Zell Bray. He was a 1948
 graduate of Coeburn High School and a 1952 graduate of the Medical College
 of Virginia. He was employed as a pharmacist for Chancellor's Drug Store and
 was a U.S. Army veteran, serving as a pharmacist in the Canal Zone. He later
 was the owner and operator of Meadowbrook Pharmacy until his retirement.
 He was a member of the University Baptist Church, the Jaycees,
 Charlottesville-Albemarle Mental Health Association, the Young Men's
 Business Club and the Virginia Pharmaceutical Association.
 Surviving is a sister, Jackie Britton of Kingsport.
 Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Temple Hill
 Memorial Park in Castlewood by Sturgill Funeral Home in Coeburn. The Rev.
 Charles Addington will officiate.
 Mr. Bray was also preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Bray.
 Among survivors are four aunts and several cousins.
 He was instrumental in researching and founding of Dionis Goats Milk Soap, a
 beauty aids factory and Billy Bray Bath Products. He transferred his
 membership from First Baptist Church of Coeburn many years ago. He was
 active in several civic, community and professional organizations.
 Teague Funeral Service in Charlottesville and Sturgill Funeral Home in
 Coeburn are in charge of arrangements.

 NORTH TAZEWELL, Va. -- Alta Stevenson Brown, 92, died Saturday,
 Nov. 20, 1999, in a Tazewell nursing home.

 Simpson Brown Sr.

 KINGSPORT -- Simpson Ollie Brown Sr., 87, of 241 Carver St., died
 Saturday, Nov. 20, 1999, in Wilcox Hall of Holston Valley Hospital and
 Medical Center.
 Funeral arrangements will be announced by Robinson Funeral Service.
 He was born in Spartanburg, S.C., and lived in Kingsport for the past 80
 years. He was a member of Grace Temple Church of Eternal Life Center in
 Johnson City, where he served on the deacon board and the brotherhood.
 He was a graduate of Douglas High School and attended Swiff College. He
 was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a retired employee of Holston
 Defense.
 Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Erma Flack Brown; a son, Simpson Ollie
 Brown Jr. of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and six daughters, Patricia Kaye Gaines,
 Janice Fay Brice, Mrs. Steve (Olympia Lavern) Gouge, Marie Briscoe
 Kinchloe, Mrs. Nathan (Alma) Blye and Anita Jackson, all of Kingsport; 20
 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a nephew.

 Funeral services for Albert Clarence Cilley Sr. will be conducted Monday at
 Monday at 11 a.m. in Mountain View Mausoleum Chapel by Weaver Funeral
 Home. The Rev. Lawrence Stout will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain View
 Cemetery with military rites by Patton-Crosswhite VFW Post 6975 of Bristol.
 Mr. Cilley, 57, of C-13, East Ridge Apartments, Bristol, Va., died Friday,
 Nov. 19, 1999, at his home.
 He was born in Laconia, N.H., a son of Francis Cilley of New Hampshire. He
 was a former employee of Bristol Metals, working in the maintenance
 department. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and was of the Baptist faith.
 Surviving, besides his mother, are his wife, Judy Cilley; two sons, Albert Cilley
 Jr. and Tim Cilley, both of Bristol; six daughters, Kelly Ferguson, Katrina
 Chatman, Sundee Ferguson, Tracey Hayes, Shannon Cilley and April Cilley;
 two brothers, Chester Cilley and Ralph Cilley, both of New Hampshire; a
 sister, Sandra Bristol of New Hampshire; 20 grandchildren; and several nieces
 and nephews.
 Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Hilliard, Ron Chatman, David Hayes,
 Jackie Trivette, Gary Cox and Richard Ferguson.

 Kenneth J. Davis

 BLUFF CITY -- Kenneth J. Davis, 65, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 1999, in
 Bristol Regional Medical Center.
 He was born in Elizabethton, lived in Bluff City for more than 30 years, and
 retired from Raytheon Co. after three decades of service.
 Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Bettye Jo; two daughters, Kimberlee and
 Lisa; two sons, Jeffrey and Kenneth Jr.; and two grandchildren.
 A private family service was held Thursday, Nov. 18, 1999. Burial was in
 Happy Valley Memorial Park in Elizabethton.
 Among survivors are two grandchildren, Ashley and Ariel.

 GRUNDY -- Edna McClanahan Elswick, 87, of the Home Creek section of
 Route 1, died Friday, Nov. 19, 1999, in Buchanan General Hospital in
 Grundy.
 She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County, a daughter of the late James
 Milton and Caroline Looney McClanahan. She was a member of Home Creek
 Old Regular Baptist Church, a homemaker and the widow of John Elswick.
 Surviving are three daughters, Nellene E. Clevinger Hutchinson, Mary Louise
 E. Case and Rebecca Lynn E. Hutchinson, all of Grundy; two sons, Otis Daniel
 Elswick and Billy Gene Elswick, both of Grundy; three granddaughters; seven
 grandsons; and five great-grandchildren.
 Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m. in Home Creek Old
 Regular Baptist Church on Home Creek, Route 1, Grundy, by Grundy Funeral
 Home. Elders Frank Oquinn, Jerry Newsome, Jackie Yates, Mack Varney,
 Freddy Ramey, Willis Conrad and Roby Raines will officiate. The body will be
 taken to the church Monday at 11 a.m. to await the funeral hour at 1 p.m.
 Burial will be in Mountain Valley Memorial Park in Big Rock, Va.
 Mrs. Elswick, a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, was also
 preceded in death by six sisters, Gracie Fields, Lucy Clevinger, Ethel Dotson,
 May Justus, Lillie Stiltner and Orie Fletcher; and five brothers, Roscoe,
 Hufford, George, Ellis and Dorsey McClanahan.
 Among survivors are two sons-in-law, Robert James Hutchinson and Roger
 Allen Hutchinson, both of Grundy; two daughters-in-law, Clara Elswick and
 Naomi Elswick, both of Grundy; three granddaughters, Billie Jean Warton of
 Elm City, N.C., Valerie Massengill of Bristol Virginia and Jennifer Hutchinson
 of Grundy; seven grandsons, Michael Case and John Allen Hutchinson, both of
 Grundy, Mark Case of Wolford, Va., James Neal Clevinger of Harman, Va.,
 Robert John Hutchinson of Kingsport, Dwayne Elswick of Christiansburg, Va.,
 and Victor Elswick of Alexandria, Va.; and five great-grandchildren, Christian
 McCrae Case, Cassidy Renee Case, Christina Marie Clevinger, Chastity Lynn
 Clevinger and Zachary Massengill.

 Ms. Hays, 56, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 1999, in Smyth County Community
 Hospital in Marion.
 She was born in Bison, Okla.
 Surviving are two daughters, Annette Allison of Saltville and Lea Ann Pelfrey
 of Fort Bragg, N.C.; three brothers, Don Brockman of Enid, Okla., Bill
 Brockman of Texas and Dave Brockman of Yukon, Okla.; two sisters, Rita

 nieces and nephews.

 Ann Bolden Farris. She attended the Highlands Fellowship Church in
 Abingdon and was the widow of Charles C. Rhudy.

 Glade Spring; four sons, Jack Rhudy, Glen Rhudy, Sam Rhudy and William
 Rhudy, all of Damascus; two sisters, Martha Ellis of Culpeper, Va., and Rose
 Kilby of Shady Valley, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren;
 and several nieces and nephews.

 Mrs. Hess, 103, formerly of Clinton Avenue, Bristol, Va., died Saturday, Nov.
 20, 1999, in Bristol Nursing Home.
 She was born in Saltville and lived in the Bristol area since 1940. She was a
 homemaker, a member of First Freewill Baptist Church in Bristol Virginia and
 the widow of the Rev. Henry A. Hess.
 She was a member of Slater Senior Citizens until the age of 94 and was a
 volunteer at various nursing homes.
 Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Jack (Dot) Davis of Blountville and Mrs.
 Lacy (Virginia "Sis") Wymer of Winchester, Va.; a son, Raymond Hess of
 Houston; a sister, Maggie Dinesmore of Marion; 12 grandchildren; several
 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and
 nephews.
 Mrs. Hess, who was active in all church activities at First Freewell Baptist
 Church, is survived by a special daughter-in-law, Cleo Hess of Watauga, Tenn.
 Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. James Bowman and members of First
 Freewill Baptist Church.

 William W. Lester

 HONAKER -- William Whitten Lester, 65, of the Blackford community, died
 Sunday, Nov. 21, 1999, in a Lebanon hospital.
 He was born in Iaeger, W.Va., a son of the late Albert and Mary Payne
 Lester. He lived in the Blackford community for the past 19 years, moving from
 Council, Va.
 He was a U.S. Marine Corps peacetime veteran and a member of Finney
 Baptist Church. He was a retired coal miner employed by Island Creek Coal
 Co. at the Beatrice-Pocahontas Mine and a member of UMWA Local 1374 of
 Oakwood, Va. He was a member of Pruner Masonic Lodge 254 AF&AM of
 Honaker and a member of Grand Chapter Royal Masons of Virginia. He was a
 Shriner, a member of Jericho Temple Oasis of Kingsport, Kazim Temple of
 Roanoke, Clinch Valley Commandery and the Tazewell-Russell Shrine Club.
 He was also a member of the Legion of Honor.
 Surviving are his wife, Dianna Jean Lester; two daughters, Darla Bostic of
 Council and Lisa Conley of Tazewell, Va.; a son, William Lester Jr. of
 Knoxville; a sister, Catherine Gibson of Oakvale, W.Va.; two brothers, James
 Lester of Berryville, Va., and Herman Lester of Zolfo Springs, Fla.; 10
 grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
 Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Honaker Funeral
 Home Chapel. The Rev. Stephen Musick will officiate. Entombment will be in
 Green Hills Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Claypool Hill, Va.
 Mr. Lester was also preceded in death by a sister, Ellen Werth; and an infant
 grandson, Justin Lester.

 home.
 He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and a son of the late Joseph H.
 and Ella Hurley May. He was a charter member of Kelsa Freewill Baptist
 Church, which he helped to build in 1951, a retired coal miner and was
 self-employed for several years. He was the widower of Hazel M. Dotson
 May.
 Surviving are a daughter, Joann Hess of Hurley; a sister, Ruby Steele of
 Richmond; four brothers, Robert May, Melvin May and Billy Joe May, all of
 Hurley, and Billy Coleman of Bland, Va.; four grandchildren; and four
 great-grandchildren.
 Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Kelsa Freewill
 Baptist Church in Kelsa, Va., by Grundy Funeral Home. The Rev. Britt
 Jackson will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain Valley Memorial Park in Big
 Rock, Va., with full military rites by members of John Ratliff Post 164 of the
 American Legion.
 Mr. May was also preceded in death by a son, Fairly Q. May; a sister, Jewell

 Bristol Tennessee, and Bonnie Rosenbalm of Blountville; a sister, Margaret
 Rector of Limestone, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

 was the widow of Henry A. Smith.

 Gap; three sons, Elmer Smith of Kernersville, N.C., Darise Smith of Granite,
 Okla., and Mitchell Smith of Melbourne, Fla.; 21 grandchildren; 25
 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

 JEWELL RIDGE, Va. -- Lona Underwood Vandyke, 64, died Friday, Nov.
 19, 1999, in Tazewell Community Hospital in Tazewell, Va.
 She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and a daughter of the late
 William and Laura Day Underwood. She was a member of Jesus Only Church
 and a homemaker.
 She was the widow of Patton Dillard Vandyke.
 Surviving are four daughters, Mona Kay Duncan of Bluefield, Va., Florence
 Vandyke of Lenore, N.C., Michelle Lynn Vandyke of Grundy and Regina Ann
 Louthan of Indiana; two sons, Leslie Keith Vandyke of Jewell Ridge and
 Jackie Lee Vandyke of Bradshaw, W.Va.; three sisters, Rosie Reed of
 Oregon, Belvie Deskins of Atwell, W.Va., and Nancy Sparks of California; a
 brother, Johnny Underwood of Jewell Ridge; 16 grandchildren; and six
 great-grandchildren.
 Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Grundy Funeral Home
 Chapel. The Rev. Joe Gross will officiate. Burial will be in Esaw Rife Cemetery
 in Keen Mountain, Va.
 Mrs. Vandyke, a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, was also

 EVART, Mich. -- Billy E. Whitt, 66, of 9057 95th Ave., died Friday, Nov.

 He was born in Swords Creek, Va., a son of Thomas Albert Whitt and Alice
 White. He retired from Ford Motor Co. in Livonia, Mich., after 30 years of
 service. He was a cook at Spring Hill Camps for many years, drove a school
 bus after he retired and was driver for Osceola County Commission on Aging.
 He was a member and former trustee of First Baptist Church of Evart.
 Surviving are his wife, Betty Jo Whitt of Evart; two daughters, Sherry Lynn
 Smith and Tammy Faye Coleman, both of Evart; three sons, Arthur Daniel

 several nieces and nephews.

 She was born in Hawkins County, Tenn., a daughter of the late Elijah and Lilly
 Caldwell. She lived in Green County, Tenn., for over 40 years before moving
 to the Bristol area in 1958. She was a member of First Church of the Brethren,
 where she was in various clubs and taught Sunday School. She was a member
 of the Home Demonstration Club and the widow of the Rev. Ray Wine.
 Surviving are two sons, William Wine of Park City, Ky., and the Rev. Ronald
 Wine of Dandridge, Tenn.; a sister, Lola Forssi of Florida; four grandchildren;
 two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
 Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 7:30 p.m. in Akard Funeral
 Home Chapel in Bristol, Tenn. The Rev. Jeff Johnson will officiate. Graveside

 died Friday, Nov. 19, 1999, in a Florida hospital.
 She was born in Tazewell County, Va., a daughter of the late Robert H. and
 Anna Liza Fletcher Elswick. She lived in the Pounding Mill area most of her
 life, serving as postal clerk for several years before moving to Florida in 1968.
 She was the widow of Curtis Allison.
 Surviving are two stepsons, Bill Allison of Tazewell and Sammy Allison; seven
 step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

 He was born in Alvarado, a son of the late Almeda and McKinley Lowe. He
 lived in Alvarado until graduating from Bethel High School. He was employed
 by Pet Milk Co. in Abingdon before joining the U.S. Navy during World War
 II. After leaving the service, he moved to St. Louis.

 and Bruce Lowe; a brother, Jake Lowe of Abingdon; and several nieces and

 Force veteran of World War II. He owned a wholesale cheese and food
 distribution company in Bristol Virginia for 35 years.
 He was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, where he served as a Lector
 and was president of the Holy Name Society. He was a member of the
 Country Club of Bristol and served as president and on the Board of Directors.
 He served on the Bristol Virginia Utilities Board for two terms.
 Surviving are his wife, Annette K. Mellett; three daughters, Barbara M. Walsh
 of Indianapolis, Susan J. Mellett of Oakbrook. Ill., and Jacqueline M. Henley
 of Bristol Virginia; a son, John Quentin Mellett of Charlotte, N.C.; four
 grandsons; and a granddaughter.
 Mr. Mellett was also preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn Mellett.

 Mrs. Reynolds, 77, of Greystone Healthcare Center, died Sunday, Nov. 21,
 1999, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
 She was born in Higdon, Mo., and lived in the Bristol area most of her life. She
 was a piano teacher and a member of Bible Way Church.
 Surviving are a daughter, Connie Ann Reynolds of Bristol Tennessee; and a
 brother, Gerald E. White of DeSoto, Mo.

 Mr. Shaffer, 78, of 416 Knob Hill Drive, Bristol, Tenn., died Sunday, Nov.
 21, 1999, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
 He was born in Washington County, Va., and lived in the Bristol area most of
 his life. He was a 1939 graduate of Valley Institute School, a member of
 Travelers Protection Association and a member of Marthina Memorial Chapel.
 He was a U.S. Air Force veteran from 1942-45, a member of the American
 Legion, and retired in 1985 as regional sales manager from Huff-Cook Mutual
 Burial Association.
 Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Faye Shaffer; two sons, Jerry Shaffer and Larry
 Shaffer, both of Bristol Tennessee; two daughters, Tammy Gardner of Gretna,
 Va., and Kelly Fleenor of Bristol Tennessee; a stepson, Gary Franklin of
 Bristol Tennessee; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
 Mr. Shaffer was preceded in death by three sisters, Lillis Weatherly, Lakie
 Harlow and Iva Moretz.
 Among survivors are two grandchildren, Stacey Shaffer and Warren Bailey
 Shaffer.
 Pallbearers will be Don Snowden, Mack Thomas, Greg Fleenor, Phillip
 Gardner, Ricky Roark and Fred Bowery. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr.
 Michael Baron, Dr. Donald Quinn and Dr. William H. Messerschmidt.

 Ruth Fleenor Sproles, 78, of Bristol Virginia, died Monday, Nov. 22, 1999, in
 Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon.
 She was a lifelong resident of the Benhams area, and a daughter of the late
 Charles S. and Bertie Vanhook Fleenor. She was a retired employee of Kelly
 and Green and the widow of Bernard K. Sproles.
 She was a member of the Bell-Walsh Chapter No. 65 of the Order of the
 Eastern Star and a member of McIver Memorial Presbyterian Church.
 Surviving are a brother, Charles K. Fleenor of Abingdon; four nephews, Ken
 Fleenor, Charlie Joe Fleenor, Andrew Fleenor and Fred Barr, all of Bristol;
 five nieces, Kent Leathers of Alexandria, Va., Rebecca Herrity of Augusta,
 Ga., LuAnn Johnson of Johnson City, Mona Doss of Damascus and Linda Orr
 of Fairfax, Va.; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

 He was a son of the late Robert and Elizabeth Gentry Strouth and a retired
 coal miner, formerly employed with Clinchfield Coal Co.
 He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was of the Protestant faith.

 Carr. She moved to Piney Flats in 1947 and was a homemaker.
 She was a charter member of Piney Flats Presbyterian Church, where she was
 involved in the Women of the Church and was a member of Circle 1. She was
 the widow of Clifford Thompson.

 Rabun L. Brantley

 SYLVANIA, Ga. -- Dr. Rabun Lee Brantley, 96, died Monday, Nov. 22,
 1999, at his home.
 He was born in Screven County and was a graduate of Georgia Military
 Academy and Mercer University. He earned his doctorate in English Literature
 and journalism from George Peabody College in Nashville.
 He taught at Tift College, Mary Hardin Baylor College and Georgia State
 University. He served as editor of The Southern Automotive Journal during the
 early 1940s and was president of Virginia Intermont College in Bristol Virginia
 from 1945-56. He served as vice-president of Southern Association of
 Schools and Colleges from 1956-59. During his tenure at Virginia Intermont,
 he served as president of the Southern Association of Schools and Colleges. In
 1959, he moved to Nashville, where he was executive secretary of the
 Southern Baptist Education Commission until is retirement in 1971, when he
 returned to Sylvania. While in Nashville, he served as acting financial officer for
 the American Baptist Theological Seminary for nearly two years.
 Since retirement, Dr. Brantley has worked for First District Congressman G.
 Elliott Hagan, the Sylvania//Screven County Chamber of Commerce and
 served as a trustee of Mercer University.
 He was a member of the Kiwanis Club, the Lions Club and the Rotary Club
 and was named Man of the Year in 1982 by the Sylvania Rotary Club. He
 worked as an adviser with SCORE, the Service Corps of Retired Executives,
 and was a member of the Sylvania First Baptist Church for more than 25 years,
 where he was a choir member and served on the Board of Deacons.
 Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Elizabeth Estes Brantley; two sons, Dr.
 William H. Brantley of Greenville, S.C., and Dr. Richard E. Brantley of
 Gainesville, Fla.; five grandchildren, Mrs. John Feith of Dyersburg, Tenn.,
 William H. Brantley Jr. of Daphne, Ala., Mrs. Kirk Restine of Atlanta, Jessica
 Brantley of Los Angeles, Calif., and Justine Brantley of Decatur, Ga.;
 great-grandchildren, Margaret Caroline Feith and Elliott Feith, both of
 Dyersburg.

 and Myrtle McCormick Holmes. She was a 1926 graduate of Sullins College

 an honorary life membership in 1970.

 GLADE SPRING -- Joseph Cortez Campbell, 75, died Tuesday, Nov. 23,
 1999, at his home.
 He was a veteran of World War II, a Mason, Order of the Eastern Star, a
 member of the VFW and Byars Cobb United Methodist Church.
 He retired from American General Life Insurance Co.
 Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Celestine Campbell; three sons, Joe
 Campbell of Tulsa, Okla., John Campbell of Bristol Tennessee and Ken
 Campbell of Bedford, Texas; two sisters, Marcella Broberg of Bristol
 Tennessee and Christine McCray of Bristol Virginia; and four grandsons.

 Methodist Church in Glade Spring by D.R. Henderson Funeral Home in
 Saltville. The Rev. Timothy W. Graham will officiate.

 he was a avid but unofficial supporter and promoter.

 LAUREL, Md. -- Winnie Belle Testerman Christian, 87, died Monday, Nov.
 22, 1999, in Golden Oaks Nursing Home.
 She was formerly of Smyth County and lived in Laurel for the past four years.
 She was the widow of Burton Christian.
 Surviving are three daughters, Beulah Goldsborough and Carol Testerman,
 both of Laurel, and Mary Waskey of Marion; two sons, Martin Testerman of
 Fairfax, Va., and Elmer Testerman of Chilhowie; a stepdaughter, Penny
 Christian of Tennessee; and several grandchildren.
 Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. in Macedonia Baptist
 Church by Barnett's Funeral Home in Marion. The Rev. Charles Blevins will
 officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be taken to the
 church one hour prior to services.
 Mrs. Christian was also preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Selby; and two
 sons, Roy and Robert Testerman.

 CASCILLA, Miss. -- Virginia R. Hawk, 79, died Wednesday, Nov. 17,
 1999, in Grenada Lake Medical Center in Grenada, Miss.
 She was born in Bristol Tennessee, where she was a photo lab technician
 employed with Kelly and Green. She attended Central Christian Church in
 Bristol, Tenn., and later retired to Cary, N.C. She had recently moved to
 Cascilla.
 Surviving are two sons, Jim Hawk of Cascilla and Tim Hawk of Topsail Beach,
 N.C.

 PORTSMOUTH, Va. -- Fredith Virginia Henry, 72, of 2400 block of
 Cutherell St., died Saturday, Nov. 20, 1999, at her home.
 She was born in Bluefield, W.Va., a daughter of the late John W. Thornton and
 Sylvania Muncy Thornton. She was a licensed practical nurse at Portsmouth
 School of Nursing and was a member of Biltmore Baptist Church.
 Surviving are two daughters, Brenda Muncy of Golden Valley, Ariz., and
 Debora Bell of Muldro, Okla.; two brothers, Johnny Thornton of Portsmouth
 and Clifford Thornton of Peterstown, W.Va.; three grandchildren; and five
 great-grandchildren.
 Funeral services were held Tuesday in Portsmouth.

 1999, in Caldwell Memorial Hospital in Lenoir.
 She was born in Meadowview, a daughter of the late Edward and Ada Mae
 Estep. She lived in Lenoir for the past 10 years.
 Surviving are her husband, Silas McCracken; two sons, Edward McCracken
 of Dillon, Va., and Steve McCracken of Bean Station, Tenn.; two daughters,
 Thelma Mae Watson of Taylorsville, N.C., and Donna Marie Jones of Lenoir;
 three brothers, James Estep of Verona, Va., Earl Estep and Dewey Estep;
 three sisters, Lucille Meade of Verona, Virginia Booher of Lebanon and
 Shirley Callahan of Durham, N.C.; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and
 nephews.
 Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1 p.m. in Farris Funeral Chapel.

 GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Rochelle Clifton "Slim" Nelson, 66, of 1207 Arlington
 Drive, Pymatuning Township, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999, at his home.
 He was born in Saltville, Va., a son of Rochelle and Margaret Arnold Nelson.
 He was employed as an electrical engineer with Sharon Steel and J.B.
 Goldberg until he started his own business, Nelson Enterprises. Most recently,
 he was employed for Pyramid.
 He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving as an Airman 2nd Class from
 1950-53, and was a member of Greencrest Baptist Church in Reynolds.
 Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Evelyn Camper Nelson; three sons, Michael
 Nelson and Charles Nelson, both of Hermitage and James Nelson of Farrell;
 two daughters, Carla Benton of Greenville and Brenda McDowell of Hadley;
 three brothers, Tim Nelson and David Nelson, both of Somerville, S.C., and
 Bill Nelson of Bristol Virginia; two sisters, Judy Roberts and Sandy Campbell,
 both of Somerville; and 13 grandchildren.
 A memorial service will be conducted Sunday at 4 p.m. in Greencrest Baptist
 Church in Reynolds by Andrew H. Osborne III Funeral Home. The Rev.
 Adam Toy will officiate. Burial will be at a later date arranged by Humanity
 Gifts Registry of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
 Mr. Nelson was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ted Nelson and Don
 Nelson.
 He was known as an avid fisherman and for his flower gardens. He was most
 proud of his family and friends who held a roast in his honor this past
 September.

 ROCKVILLE, Md. -- Worley Leon Roberts, 56, died Sunday, Nov. 21,
 1999, in Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville.
 He was a former resident of Norton and a son of the late Worley and Ruby
 Cain Roberts. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving with the 538th
 Transportation Co. as a specialist five during the Vietnam War.
 He was of the Baptist faith and was employed with Royal Operating Co. as a
 maintenance engineer for the past 36 years.
 Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Bennett Roberts; a son, Tim L. Roberts of
 Gaithersburg, Md.; a sister, Peggy Rossie of Silver Springs, Md.; and a
 brother, Sammy Roberts of Gaithersburg.
 Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. in Estes Funeral Home
 Chapel in Coeburn. Buddy Hubbard will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood
