Franklin R. Sprenkle Conducted
   Store In Town For
      Quarter Century; Aged 66

Held Township Offices

    Spry, Nov. 7 - Franklin R. Sprenkle, well known merchant of this place, 
died at 9:30 o'clock last evening after an illness of several weeks, due to a 
complication of diseases. Mr. Sprenkle, serving his 25 years as storekeeper in 
this town, made a host of friends and was held in high esteem.  He was a former 
school director of York township and at the time of his death was secretary of 
the township road board.  He was aged 66 years, 9 months and 16 days, and 
leaves his widow and the following children:  Elmer N. Sprenkle, Brooklyn, 
N.Y.; Mrs. Earl H. Fortney, Washington, D.C.; John F. Sprenkle, Spring Grove;
Charles E. Sprenkle, York; and Robert R. Sprenkle, at home.  He also leaves a 
sister, Mrs. John Geesey, Dallastown, and three brothers, John Sprenkle, York; 
Milton and Charles Sprenkle, Dallastown.
    The funeral will be held on Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Services will be 
conducted at the Sprenkle residence, by Rev. Clark W. Heller and Rev. C.L. 
Jacobs.  Burial will be made in the cemetery adjoining Salem Union church, 
Jacobus.  Funeral Director N. J. Leader, Jacobus, will be in charge.

Additional Comments:
Franklin R. Sprenkle's name is more often seen with the Sprenkel spelling.  His 
widow's maiden name was Elmira Kornbau.
