  SMITH
  
  Charles Smith, 87, of 256 W. Church St., died Aug. 31 in Somerset
  Community Hospital.  A son of the late John Smith and Matilda Ellman
  Smith Miller.  He was born April, 1885, in Johnstown.  He was
  preceded in death by his wife, the former Jennie G. Dugan; two
  sisters; three brothers; and one half-sister, Ella McQuade.  He is
  survived by one daughter, Marie of Somerset; a brother, George J.
  Smith of Somerset; and a half-brother, Irvin Miller of Berlin.  He
  retired in 1950 as a Baltimore and Ohio railroad engineer.  He was a
  member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Somerset; and Somerset
  Church of the Brethren.  Friends will be received at the
  Wilbur D. Miller Funeral Home, Somerset, after 7 p.m. today where
  funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 1:30 p.m. by the Rev.
  Paul White.  Interment in Brotherton Cemetery.
