  CUSTER
  
  Waiter R. Custer, 85, of Bopie Lane, Somerset, died Jan. 9, 1999, at
  Somerset Hospital.  Born June 26, 1913, in Pittsburgh, son of Walter P. and
  Mary (Ryan) Custer.  Preceded in death by parents, sister Rona Custer and
  brother Kenneth.  Survived by wife of 68 years, the former Pauline A.
  Pletcher and these children: Mrs. Richard (Helen Joan) Baer, Osage, Iowa;
  Robert R. (married to Adena Miller), Somerset; and Mrs. Larry (Judith)
  Gnagey, Fort Myers, Fla.; also 12 grandchildren and 18
  great-grandchildren.  Brother of Kathleen Bethel of El Centro, Calif. 
  Veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II and Korea.  Retired employee of
  Somerset State Hospital.  Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
  Monday at Miller Funeral Home Somerset, where funeral service will be
  conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday.  Rev. Roger Forty officiating.  Interment, St.
  John's Cemetery, Somerset.
