  Bennetch, John D.   
   
  John D. Bennetch John D. Bennetch, 79, of Schaefferstown died Monday, March 16, 
  2009, at the Good Samaritan Hospital. Born September 17, 1929, in Rehrersburg, 
  he was the son of the late David S. and Florence Hostetter Bennetch. He is 
  survived by his loving wife, the former Loretta J. Krall. John graduated in 
  1947 from the high school in Schaefferstown. He served in the U.S. Army from 
  1951-1953, was commissioned an officer at Fort Sill, Okla., in May 1952, and 
  proudly served his country as a first lieutenant in the Korean War. He retired 
  from North American Refractories in Womelsdorf in 1991. John enjoyed fishing, 
  hunting, and traveling. He attended Lebanon Valley Bible Church. John was 
  preceded in death by his infant son, Gregory J., and brothers Richard P. 
  (surviving spouse Peggy Jarman), and George D. (surviving spouse Jean 
  Bennetch). In addition to his wife, John is survived by brothers the Rev. Fred 
  E. Bennetch, husband of Mary Lou, and Robert B., husband of Barbara A.; 
  daughters Karen, wife of Robert Struwe of Allentown, Kim Marie, wife of Pastor 
  Richard Gilbaugh of Bellefonte, and Leslie Schaeffer, currently of 
  Schaefferstown. Also surviving are grandchildren Rebecca L. Struwe, Lieutenant 
  David R. Struwe, Kristy Gilbaugh Smith (wife of Pastor Ryan Smith of Port 
  Matilda), and Kurtis Gilbaugh; and greatgrandson Grant Lewis Smith. Funeral 
  service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Lebanon Valley Bible Church, 
  1482 Horseshoe Pike, Lebanon, Pa., with a viewing beginning on Saturday at 10 
  a.m. Interment will be made in the Schaefferstown Cemetery. Clauser Funeral 
  Home Inc. is handling the arrangements.
