The Dalles Weekly Reminder, August 18, 1983
     Vera Isabel Stillwell, 73, a resident of The Dalles since 1947, died Aug. 
9 at Mid-Columbia Medical Center.
     She was born Aug. 29, 1909 in Corydon, Iowa.
     Mrs. Stillwell was a member of the Methodist Church, a former member of 
the Sorosis Park Association, and a member of the Carpenter's Union Auxiliary.
     Survivors include her husband, Ernie, whom she married in Walla Walla, 
Wash. Aug. 11, 1928; two sons, Ernest Lee Stillwell, Hood River, and David 
Orin Stillwell, Burley, Idaho; two daughters, Mrs. LaVon (JoAnn) Humpherys, 
The Dalles, and Mrs. Robert (Dorothy) Sargent, Grass Valley, Calif.; 17 
grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; a brother, Edward Mead, and a sister, 
Mable Gabel, both of Walla Walla.
     Funeral services were Friday at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home with 
Robert R. Sargent officiating.  Burial was at The Dalles IOOF Cemetery.
     Casketbearers were Deland and Terry Humpherys, Skip Stillwell, Carl 
Gabel, Steve King and Vic Hamilton.
     Memorials are suggested to the Crippled Children's Fund.
