LEWIS MURRAY ABBOTT
ADA — Services for Lewis Murray Abbott, 81, of Stonewall are at 10 a.m. Monday at the Stonewall First Baptist Church. The Revs. Richard Dickerson and Dennis Heath will officiate. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery at Stonewall.
Mr. Abbott died Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at a local care facility. He was born Dec. 18, 1932, in Ada to Joe E. and Ida Holbert Abbott. He graduated from high school in St. Louis, Oklahoma.
Mr. Abbott was the owner of Abbott Grocery Store in Ada from 1970 until 1982 and the Abbott Grocery Store in Stonewall from 1982 until 1986. He was also a rancher in the Stonewall area. Mr. Abbott was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church in Stonewall. He formerly served as councilman and mayor of Stonewall.
He married Betty Ruth Cooper June 15, 1952. They had two sons, Joe David Abbott and Roger Lewis Abbott, and a daughter, Laura Lee. He later married Betty Ann Curtis. She preceded him in death October 2003.
Survivors include two sons, Joe David Abbott and his wife, Susan, of Ada and Roger Abbott and his wife, Teresa, of Ada; a daughter, Laura Lee and her husband, Johnny, of Oklahoma City; his grandchildren, Farrah Green and husband, Tim, Brett D. Abbott, Craig Abbott and wife, Shanna, Krista Westmoreland, Brenda Hurley and husband, Jack, and Ashley Rhynes and husband, Trey; a brother, Robert Wayne Abbott and his wife, Carolyn, of Ada; and a sister, Arreta Gallagher of Brenham, Texas; his step-children, Greg Curtis and wife, Mikki, of Stonewall, Jeff Curtis and wife, Julie, of Stonewall, and Randy Curtis of Stonewall; his step-grandchildren, Paige Curtis, Landon Curtis, Jayln Curtis, Derrick Southerland, Brandon Southerland, Randi Jane Pinley and Jordan Curtis; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and three nephews.
Bearers will be Richard Medcalf, Jack Blair, Glenn McDonald, Ernie McDonald, Dean Stephens and Randy Jennings. Honorary bearers will be Bob Curtis, Chris Snell, Winford Wood and Louie McDonald.
The family says those who wish may make memorials to the Stonewall Medical Clinic Project, P. O. Box 278, Stonewall, OK 74871.

DON EUGENE WALSTON
ADA — Services for Don Eugene Walston, 77, of Ada, are at 2 p.m. Monday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Bill Sluder and Raymond Brady will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 - 6 p.m. Sunday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. Walston died Thursday, May 29, 2014, at a local hospital. He was born July 10, 1936, in Sasakwa to Bud and Veta Sanders Walston. He lived in this area all his life. He graduated from Ada High School in 1954. 
He married Betty McDaniel on June 1, 1957 in Ahloso. Mr. Walston retired from Ideal Cement Company and had been previously employed at Motor Sales. He served in the U. S. Navy from 1956 until being honorably discharged in 1960. He attended college on the G. I. Bill and graduated from East Central University in 1975 with a master’s degree in sociology. Mr. Walston was a longtime member of College Heights Baptist Church where he was ordained as a Deacon on Feb. 25, 2001. He taught adult Sunday school and also served as the church treasurer. He was a bowling member since 1956, and served as the secretary for the Ada Bowling Association for 20 years. 
Survivors include his wife, Betty Walston, of the home; son, Randy Walston and his wife, Tanya, of Ft. Worth, Texas;  daughter Kelly Vaughn and her husband, Keith, of Ada; his grandchildren, Tisha Killian of Ada, Sari Wells and Josh Jennings of Davis, Randi Lynn Smith of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Ethan Walston of Granbury, Texas; his great-grandchildren, Landyn, Brooklynn, Liberti and Kenidi Smith of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Jax Jennings of Davis; his sisters, Juanita Bingham of Oklahoma City, and Venita Holbrook and husband, Mickey, of Garland, Texas; two brothers, Bill Walston and wife, JoAnn, of Atoka and Jerry Walston and wife, RozAn, of Ada; and many other friends and relatives.

Mrs. Hayes died Sunday, June 1, 2014, at a Durant hospital. She was born March 10, 1943, in Ada to John Ray and Rhoda Evelyn Bandy Lee. She lived most of her life in this area. She attended the Latta School System.
She married James Dale Hayes on June 16, 1961, in Ada. Mrs. Hayes was employed as a nurse’s aide at Valley View Regional Hospital and later in home health and as a dialysis technician. She was of the Free Will Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband, James Hayes, of the home; a daughter, Sherry Richardson and her husband, Jim, of Ada; a son, Cody Hayes and his wife, Angie, of Kingston; one brother, Alfred Lee and his wife, Vickie, of Ada; a sister-in-law, Lenora Lee of Ada; eight grandchildren, Jessica Freeman and husband, Cash, Emily Kimmel and husband, Jon, Tara Hayes, Tyler Hayes, Kayla Hayes, Mychaielle Hayes, Clint Resler and Jarrid Resler; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

ADA — Graveside services for Joyce Evelyn Newberry, 85, of Ada, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Highland Cemetery with the Rev. Harold Ware officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at Smith-Phillips Funeral Home. 
Ms. Newberry died Saturday, May 31, 2014, at Ada. 
She was born in Reed, Oklahoma, to Leon H. and Dorothy D. (Reed) Nickell on Jan. 31, 1929. She married Joe Newberry on Nov. 12, 1948. The couple resided in the area. She was of the Baptist faith. 
Survivors include her son,  Richard Newberry and wife, Debbie, of Ada; one brother,  Wiley Nickell of Wetumka; five granddaughters, Kelly, Marilyn, Amanda, Destiny and Heather; two great-grandchildren and a host of longtime friends and neighbors.
She is preceded in death by  her husband Joe Newberry on May 20, 1971; one son, Tony L. Newberry; a brother,  Marvin Nickell; a sister, Betty Nickell; and a grandson, Anthony Newberry.

KIM RUTH EMALINE ANDERSON
CRESCENT — Funeral services for Kim Ruth Emaline Anderson will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Crescent. Burial will follow at Crescent Cemetery. 
Ms. Anderson died Sunday, June 1, 2014, at her home in Stillwater after a short battle with cancer. 
She was born March 23, 1939, to Henry Rayson and Mary Ann Anderson in Wetumka. She graduated from Ada High School in 1958. Ms. Anderson moved to Oklahoma City to attend business college and later became a flight attendant with American Airlines for two years. She worked in the oil and gas industry for the next 30 years until she retired in 2007 from IHS.
She was a member of the Oklahoma City Kiwi Club and was the president and vice president chairman of Charity Art Auctions.
Survivors include her niece Laura Clark and husband, Michael, of Stillwater; their children Marla Barnard and her husband, Justin, of Lubbock, Texas, Joshua Clark and his wife, Lauren, of Kansas City, Missouri, and Robyn Bain and her husband, Paul, of Houston, Texas; her niece Pamela Estes and husband, Eric, of Fayetteville Arkansas; their children Stephanie Roach and her husband, Justin, of Fayetteville, and Christopher Estes and Ryan Estes, both of Fayetteville; six great-great-nephews, Jonah, River, Shepherd, Solomon, Silas and Joshua; one great-great niece, Anna; brother-in-law, James McGuire of Crescent; her uncle Daniel and aunt Virleene Boone of Sun City, California; their children Debbie Sinay and her husband, Gary, of Escondido, California, Daniel Boone Jr. and his wife, Susan, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Paul Boone of Escondido, California, and Brenda Boone of Cardiff,  California, and many, many cousins and lifelong friends.

Mr. Manuel died April 17, 2014. He was born February 17, 1976, in Ada to Jimmy Lynn and Mary Elizabeth Jones Manuel. He attended Byng and Ada schools. Mr. Manuel was a construction laborer.

IDA VERLIN "Perk" WOOD
EDMOND — Ida Verlin “Perk” Wood, Edmond, Okla., went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 23, 2014. 
She was born October 29, 1913 near Oil Center, Okla., to the late Emmet and Dessie Light.  She graduated from Vanoss High School in 1933. 
She married three times with all three husbands preceding her in death.  She married DeWitt Bryan in 1933, and had two children, DeVerle and Darrell.  In 1961 she married Orin Wright who brought to the marriage one daughter, Betty. In 1985 she married John Wood.  
They were active members in the Oil Center Pentecostal Holiness Church.  She also was a long time member of the Galey Baptist Church and present member of the First Baptist Church of Edmond. 
She was preceded in death by her brother Otis, sister Clemmie and her son, Darrell Bryan of Edmond.  
She is survived by  her daughter,  DeVerle Stimson of Edmond; daughter-in-law Darlene Lewis of Edmond; and 21 grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. 
Sewing brought great joy in her life, all of her children and grandchildren stay warm under her quilts.  
She enjoyed fishing, reading, Home Extension work, Good Sams Club and serving in her church.  Volunteering kept her young and on her feet.  
Her verse in life was, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”  
Celebration of Life services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 6, 2014, at the Galey Baptist Church, HW 3W, Stratford, OK.   
The family requests in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Baptist Boys Ranch Town, 5100 E. 33rd St., Edmond,  OK 73013.

FITZHUGH — Graveside services for James Allen Morrow, 72, of Fitzhugh are at 2 p.m. Monday at the Lightning Ridge Cemetery. The Revs. Jim Adams and Wanda Littrell will officiate. The Oklahoma National Guard Honor Guard will conduct full military honors at the cemetery.
Mr. Morrow died Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at his home. He was born Jan. 17, 1942, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Joseph A. and Delia Myers Morrow. He graduated from Fitzhugh High School and attended college.
He married Nancy Young on May 24, 1963. Mr. Morrow was a machinist for Kerr Machine for several years and later he was a propane truck driver.
He was a member of the Fitzhugh United Methodist Church and had served in the U. S. Army National Guard, retiring after 25 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Morrow, of the home; a daughter, Sharon Ann Zamen of McAlester; one son, James Allen Morrow Jr. and his wife, Lisa, of Moore; three grandchildren, Shylia See and husband, Tristin, of Lindenwold, New Jersey, Chanci Morrow of Asher and Isabella Faith Morrow of Moore; three brothers, Charles Morrow and his wife, Roberta, of Fitzhugh, Don Kirkpatrick of Bramen and Gary Wilson and his wife, Linda, of Perry; a sister-in-law, Doris Winn and her husband, Harold, of Fitzhugh; and his nieces and nephews.

Mr. Gentry died Thursday, June 5, 2014, at Norman.
He was born Dec. 11, 1934, at Galey to Jarrett and Elsie (Medford) Gentry. He married Anna Faye Midgett on March 27, 1954, at Stratford.
Mr. Gentry was the manager at Evergreen Feed in Ada until his retirement. He lived most of his life in the Byars area.

Ms. Hood died Saturday, June 7, 2014, after recently being hospitalized at the Integris Stroke Center in Oklahoma City. 
Ms. Hood was a 1979 graduate of Vanoss High School and attended East Central University where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in nursing. She was a registered nurse for the Chickasaw Health Services until 2009.

Ms. Martinez died Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at an Allen nursing home.
She was born Sept. 15, 1921, in Lancaster, Ohio, to Edward and Martha J. Myers Konkler. She moved to this area about 1948 from Ohio.
Ms. Martinez was a cook for many years for Callaway’s Café, J.D.’s, Hamburger King, Lefty’s Truck Stop and later the Raintree Inn. She also raised several breeds of dogs.
Survivors include her children, Betty J. Ogg of Ada, Joanne Roby of Allen, Rose McKinzie and husband, Bruce, of Lancaster, Ohio, James Richard Griffin and wife, Cathy, of Lancaster, Ohio, Harold Price of Tiffin, Ohio, and Kenneth Hill of Scott, Ohio; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jerry Konkler and Ed Konkler; and two sisters, Jewell Konkler and Geneivie Konkler, all of Lancaster, Ohio.

Ms. Bowers died Friday, June 6, 2014, at an Ada hospital.
She was born Nov. 14, 1953, in Ada to Jack and Marie Leonard Bowers. She attended Ada schools and graduated from Ada High School.

ADA — Services for Sammy Polk “Sam” Johnston, 85, of Ada are at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Tony Folger will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery.
Mr. Johnston died Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at a local hospital.
He was born Feb. 18, 1929, in Coal County to Benjamin George and Edna Layuna Cross Johnston. He graduated from Lula High School.
He married Glenda E. Scott on May 14, 1959, in Wilburton. She preceded him in death on April 9, 1991.
Mr. Johnston was a welding fabricator for Forster’s Manufacturing Co. for 53 years. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and had served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper during the Korean conflict.
Survivors include two daughters, Polly Black of Francis and Carolyn Newton and her husband, Gary, of Tulsa; three sisters, Dora Lee Hicks of Merced, Calif., Vera Brend of Lula and Peggy Britt of Ada; a brother, Davey Johnston of Ada; two granddaughters, Alesha Moore of Tulsa and Britney Black of Francis; and a great-granddaughter, Hannah Moore of Tulsa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, Tony Johnston; granddaughter, Shania Black; two brothers, Bob Johnston of Lula and Dan Ray Johnston; and three sisters, Elwanda Johnston, Betty Jo Johnston and Molly Davis.

Mrs. Walker died Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at an Oklahoma City hospital. She was born Nov. 23, 1927, in Stonewall to Mack and Della Powell Colbert. 
She lived in this area all her life, attended grade school at Harden City and McLish Schools. She married Joe Bob Walker on Feb. 26, 1946, in Ada. He preceded her in death on Jan. 2, 1989, in Ada. 
Mrs. Walker was a restaurant manager until her retirement.
Survivors include a sister, Wanda Spradlin of Ada; a nephew, Bobby Kent Walker and wife, Dreama, of Ada; great-great-niece, Drew Walker; other great nieces and nephews, Shannon Walker, Bobby J. ADA — Services for Dr. Norman Frame, 80, of Ada, are at 10 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Ada. The Rev. David L. Daniel will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
Dr. Frame died Friday, June 13, 2014, at a Norman hospital. He was born Dec. 21, 1933, in Checotah to Horace and Fannie Cockrell Frame. He graduated from Checotah High School and attended a semester at Oklahoma Christian College which at that time was in Bartlesville. He then earned his bachelor's degree at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah in 1954. He continued his advanced education by earning his master's degree in education in 1959 at the University of Oklahoma and in 1963 was awarded a doctorate in elementary education, also at the University of Oklahoma.
He married Mary Ann Moon on Sept. 28, 1979. Dr. Frame began his teaching career at Fort Hays Kansas State University in Hays, Kansas. He moved to Ada in 1964 and taught 33 years at East Central University. He served as director of elementary education before he retired in 1997. He also taught elementary school methods courses in mathematics, reading, language arts and elementary curriculum. Dr. Frame made many presentations to professional groups in the state and has had numerous articles published in both state and national professional journals. Over the years he has been involved with several Ada civic projects. He was a member of the Ada First United Methodist Church.
On Nov. 3, 2013, a commemorative bench at the Frank R. Crabtree Sr. Honor Plaza on East Central University campus was unveiled in Dr. Frame’s name.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Frame, of the home; three daughters, Tracy Frame Marino of Bixby, Holly Hawk and husband, Rich, of Norman, and Maridon Moon of Dallas, Texas; four grandchildren, Tara Richardson, Megan Marino, Adison Hawk and Carson Hawk; two great-grandchildren, Abigail and Adalyn Richardson; and two brothers, W. H. “Skeet” Frame and wife, Vivian, Bill Frame and wife, Debbie; and a sister-in-law, Joan Frame, all of Checotah; and a host of distant relatives, friends and former colleagues.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Fannie Frame; a son, Scott Frame; and a brother, Bob Frame.
Bearers will be Dr. George Mann, Dr. Ralph Sharp, Don Kaiser, Jeremy Richardson, Rich Hawk and Tim Frame.

Mrs. Todd died Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at an assisted living center in Ada. She was born Jan. 20, 1916, in Coal County to Frank and Caroline Criner Eddings. She graduated from Coalgate High School and moved to Ada about 1936. She graduated from East Central State Teacher's College and also received a master's degree in education from East Central University.
She married Harold O. Todd in March 1941. He preceded her in death in 1945. Mrs. Todd taught for 24 years in Pittsburg and Osage counties and retired from Willard grade school in Ada. She was a longtime member of Central Church of Christ.
Survivors include a son, Harold Todd and his wife, Tisha, of Ada; a sister, Bethel Lee of Coalgate; three granddaughters, Kim Johnson and husband, Rob, of Ada, Stacy Ritchie and husband, John, of Georgetown, Texas, and Tammy Thompson and husband, Joey, of Ada; her great-grandchildren, Kayla Johnson, Lindsay Johnson, Reid and Rylan Johnson, all of Ada, Todd Ritchie, of Lubbock, Texas, Tristan Ritchie and Tate Ritchie, both of Georgetown, Texas, and Ashlyn Thompson, Kalen Thompson and Kate Thompson all of Ada; her son-in-law, Haskell Dighton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

WEATHERFORD — Graveside services for George C. Alsbach, III, 75, of Weatherford and formerly of Ada, are at 10 a.m Saturday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Ada. The Rev. John Norvell will officiate.
Mr. Alsbach died Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at his home. He was born March 16, 1939, in Ada to George C. Alsbach Jr. and Edith England Alsbach. He grew up in Ada, attended Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri, and completed the requirements for his Bachelors of Science at East Central University in Ada. He received a master’s degree of library science from the University of Oklahoma.
Mr. Alsbach began his career as a librarian in 1966 at the Edmon Low Library at Oklahoma State University as a government documents cataloger, cataloging and organizing government publications. He left Stillwater to pursue a law degree, but circumstances intervened that prevented him from attending law school. He was hired in 1974 by Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford to work as the Cataloger for the Al Harris Library, a position that he held until his retirement in 2005.
Mr. Alsbach was a long-time member of the Oklahoma Library Association (OLA) and very active, even after retirement, in the Association’s Technical Services Roundtable (TSRT). He served as a secretary of TSRT at one time and was always an active participant in planning the Annual TSRT Workshop. He was a regular OLA Conference attendee.
Mr. Alsbach retired from serving in the U. S. Air Force and the Air National Guard and achieved the rank of master sergeant. He was a member of the Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States.
Mr. Alsbach was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Weatherford.
Survivors include cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. George Alsbach and Edith England Alsbach and a sister Alice.

Rose Nancy Grimes, 91, of Ada, OK died April 25, 2014.  Rose, daughter of Angelo and Anna Bevilacqua and the loving wife of Omer Derwood Grimes, passed away in the early morning.
She is survived by her four children, Edward Grimes, Margaret Dixon, John Grimes, and Thomas Grimes.  She is also survived by eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Rose worked for the majority of her adult life as a beautician, owning and working in her own salon in California. She loved to travel and to her last days was “ready to go” whenever the option was there for her.
She loved her family dearly and she is greatly missed by her family and friends.

ADA — A memorial service for longtime Ada resident Susan Dianne Thomas, 61, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Smith-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Ada. Lance Boner will officiate. Mrs. Thomas died Thursday, June 19, 2014.
She was born Oct. 20, 1952 in Ada where she attended school.
Survivors include her spouse, John Herod, of the home; sons John Thomas and wife, Tanna, of Ada, Justin Thomas of Ada; grandchildren Rene Lamb, Tyrus Lamb, Nathan Thomas, Alexis Hudson, Georgia Thomas and Jacob Thomas; great-grandchildren Rhiannon Hudson and Nikki Hudson; brother Paul Pittman of Stratford; and many other family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Mildred (Mantooth) Lee, daughter Elisa Thomas, granddaughter Linda “Sissy” Thomas and brother Phillip Pittman.

ADA — Services for Junior O. Willoughby, 89, of Oil Center, are 11 a.m. Monday at the Oil Center Pentecostal Holiness Church; the Rev. Nathan Cowan will officiate. Burial will follow at Maxwell Cemetery.
Mr. Willoughby died Friday, June 21, 2014, at a local hospital. He was born April 16, 1925, in Byars to Russell W. and Dovie Susan Hale Willoughby. He attended Galey School.
He married Corine H. Hightower on Jan. 12, 1952, in Bebee. Mr. Willoughby was a truck driver for Pontotoc County District 2 and also sold cars.
Survivors include his wife, Corine, of the home; two sons, Tom and wife, Linda Willoughby, of Shawnee  and Larry Willoughby of Ada; one daughter, Carol Ann Oldham of Stigler; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Lavell Nelson of Broken Arrow, Elsie Wilson of Seminole, Bonnie Lee of Ada and Sue Yeargan of Pauls Valley; one brother, Leroy Willoughby of Oil Center.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eulene Vaughn Willoughby; his parents; one daughter-in-law, Sandy Willoughby; one grandson, Joey Willoughby; three sisters, Bernice Edge, Laverne Strawn and Juanita Frantz; two brothers, Marion Willoughby and Dee Willoughby.
Bearers will be grandsons.

ADA — Richard Lawrence Hubble died Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City.  A gathering for friends and family will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, July 3, at Trinity Baptist Fellowship Center, 115 N. Turner in Ada. Bringing a potluck dish is optional.
Mr. Hubble was born May 24, 1948, in Anaheim, California, to J.D. and Lavon Hubble. He attended Montclair High School in California and continued his education in college. He later married Shelia Hubble Oct. 16, 1965.
Survivors include his mother, Lavon Hubble; five sons, Richard Lee Hubble and wife, Melinda, of Ada, Mike Hubble and wife, Antonette, of Topeka, Kansas, Brian Hubble, of Konawa, Nick Hubble of Kansas City, Missouri, and Robert Hubble and wife, Melissa, of Topeka, Kansas; grandchildren, Scott, Erika, and Trevor of Ada, Amy, Sandra and Mikayla of Topeka, Kansas, and Chasten and Briana of Konawa; brother, Steve Hubble of San Marcos, California; sister, Cynthia Caldwell of Escondido, California; and a host of other family and friends.
