She died Dec. 27, 2006.

DICK WILBURN
ADA - Services for C.M. "Dick" Wilburn, 79, Ada, are 10 a.m. Wednesday at the
First Baptist Church in Ada, the Revs. Steve Wilburn and Joe T. Dixon will
officiate. Interment will follow at Swan Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Wilburn died Monday, Jan.1, 2007, at his home. He was born Sept. 23, 1927,
in Enid to Cephas and Helen Erie White Wilburn.
He moved to Ada with his family in 1969 from Houston, Texas.
Mr. Wilburn was an oil dispatcher for Texaco in Houston for 16 years. After
moving to Ada, he was the director of food services for Valley View Regional
Hospital, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Fitzhugh Baptist Church, a
member of the Diamond K Kiwanis Club and he served in the U.S. Air Corps
during World War II from 1945 until 1947.
He married Geneva Mae Plumlee April 10, 1949, at Fittstown.
Survivors include his wife, Geneva Wilburn, of the home; two daughters, Janet
M. Wilburn, Ada, and Judy K. Cantrell and husband Bob, Ada; one son, Steve
Wilburn and wife Liz, Fitzhugh; a sister, Helen Willa Dean Cassady, Midland,
Texas; five grandchildren, Kyle Cantrell and wife Jeniferr, Kevin Cantrell and
wife Kelli, Jacob Cantrell and wife Abby, Stephanie Wilburn, and Daniel
Wilburn; great grandchildren, Gracie Kate Cantrell, Major Jackson Cantrell,
Toren Cantrell, and Tyler Cantrell.
Bearers will be Kyle Cantrell, Kevin Cantrell, Jacob Cantrell, Daniel Wilburn,
Bill Clark, Jr., Joe Morrow, Hershel Williams, and Tim Tippit. Honorary
bearers will be the Men's Sunday School Class at Fitzhugh Baptist Church.

LAWTON - Services for Clifford L. "C.L." Robberson, 87, Lawton, formerly of
Ada, are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First Christian Church, the Revs. Kevin
and Vicki Crooks will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery.
Mr. Robberson died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006, at the Veteran's Center in Lawton.
He was born June 17, 1919 near Covington to John Wesley and Pearl Florence
Hampton Robberson.
The family moved to Crescent, where he attended a one-room school. Later, the
family moved to Earlsboro, where he completed the eighth grade. They moved
back to Crescent and that is where he graduated from high school. After
graduation, he found work as a sales clerk at J.C. Penney in Guthrie, where he
worked until enrolling at Central State Teachers College in Edmond. He moved
to Ada in 1939. He received a bachelor's degree in science from East Central
State Teacher's College in 1947.
Mr. Robberson was a school teacher and administrator for 35 years from 1949
until 1984. He taught at Ada Junior High School for 13 years and was an
elementary principal at Hayes Elementary for 22 years. He was also employed
part time as a clerk for the C.R. Anthony Store in Ada for almost 49 years.
He was a longtime member of the First Christian Church, where he taught Sunday
School, a lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, a former member of
the Ada Rotary Club, where he was a Paul Harris Fellow Recipient, past
president of the Pontotoc County Mental Health Advisory Committee, and was a
Boy Scout Leader for 20 years.
Mr. Robberson served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He married Iva Braly Jan. 11, 1941. She died Feb. 1, 1981. He later married
Velma Wilson Myers July 17, 1993. She died July 11, 2001.
Survivors include a sister, Laura DeHart and husband Elmer, Chickasha; two
step-sons, Joe Braly III, Ada, and Dean Myers, Crescent; two stepdaughters,
Virginia Aldridge, Oklahoma City, and Ellenmarie Howland, Oklahoma City; three
stepgrandchildren, Joseph Kelly, New York, N.Y., Jason Kelly, Horstedt,
Germany, and Suzanne Bechtol, Bradenton, Florida; three great-grandchildren,
Kelly Bechtol, Florida, Ian Kelly and Megan Kelly, both of Germany; and
several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Guy Robberson.
The family says those who wish may make memorials to the Oklahoma Medical
Research Foundation, 825 NE 13th, Oklahoma City, OK 73104-9930, or to the
charity of their choice.

ADA - Services for Odell Hightower, 76, Ada, are 10 a.m. Thursday at the
Southwest Church of Christ, Ada, with interment following at Athens Cemetery,

Mr. Hightower died Friday, Dec. 29, 2006, at a local hosptial. He was born
April 29, 1930, at Ada, to Jim and Sylvia Smith Hightower.
Mr. Hightower graduated from Napier High School in 1951. He married Pearl
Broussard June 14, 1952, at DeQueen, Ark.
He was a member of the Church of Christ at Hammond Heights where he attended
his entire life.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ural and Frank
Hightower; four sisters, Lerene Smith, Hazel Gale, Naomi Jones and Maeola
Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Pearl Hightower, of the home; four sons, O'Neal
Hightower and his wife Carol, Ada, Allen Hightower and his wife Doris, Ada,
Sharrod Hightower and his wife Sonja, Ada, Odell Hightower Jr. and his wife
Betty, Columbus, Ga.; one daughter, Arlene Hightower Womack, Ada; one sister,
Lorice Dixon, Detroit, Mich.; 16 grandchildren and twenty-two great-
grandchildren.

Mrs. Violet died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006 at a local nursing home. She was born
May 17, 1928, at Kingfisher to Vernon Charles and Elizabeth York Kale.
She and her family moved here in the 1930s. She graduated from Ada High
School. Mrs. Violet was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist
Church.
She married Lee Violet May 12, 1966, in Ada.
Survivors include her husband Lee Violet, of the home; a son, Frank Anderson
Dunlap III, and wife Frieda, Colorado Springs, Colo.; two grandchildren, Jared
Adam Dunlap and Carissa Elaine Dunlap, both of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a
sister, Frances Cope, Checotah; a stepdaughter, Janis Walker and husband
Jerry, Ada; two stepgrandchildren, Cindy Current, Arkansas City, Kan., and
Felicia Whitworth, Ada; five step great-grandchildren; and one step great-

TULSA - Shirley Mae Schaid, 81, long-time Ada resident, died Monday, Jan. 1,
in Tulsa.
Mrs. Schaid was born Aug. 9, 1925, in Henryetta, the only child of Jack and
Tchinina Henry Gibson.
Mrs. Schaid and her husband, Don, lived in Ada for 30 years, from 1967-96.
Mrs. Schaid had resided in Tulsa since 1996.
She graduated from Henryetta High School and married Don Schaid in Henryetta
Oct. 14, 1945.
Shirley and Don spent much of their lives, and raised their two children, in
Ada, where Don was the general manager of the Oklahoma Tire & Supply store.
She is survived by a son, Jack Schaid, Tulsa; a daughter, Jill Shunatona,
Tulsa, and her husband, Bat Shunatona III; four grandchildren, Kaley Moore,
Los Angeles, Nicholas Schaid, Bartlesville, Bat Shunatona IV and Emily
Shunatona, both of Tulsa. She is also survived by two uncles, Arthur Gibson,
of Midland, Texas, and Norman Gibson, of Norman.

KATHLEEN KOCH
ADA - Graveside services for Kathleen Koch, 85, Ada, are 2 p.m. Thursday at

Mrs. Koch died Friday, Dec. 29, 2006 at Valley View Regional Hospital. She was
born Dec. 22, 1921 at Waldron, Ark. to Clarence and Esther Murphree Hullinger.
She married Konrad Karl Koch Jr. on Aug. 14, 1943 at San Marcos, Texas. He
died Feb. 9, 1990.
Mrs. Koch graduated from Wilburton High School and later graduated from East
Central University with a master's degree in education. Mrs. Koch was a
teacher for many years before retiring.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one brother, William
Frank Baird Jr.
Survivors include one son, Konrad K. Koch III and wife Mary Bondi, Charlotte,
N.C.; one daughter, Kay Abney and husband Jerry, Ada; one brother, Roy Clark
Baird, Fort Worth, Texas; four grandchildren, Brent Christierson, Mark

JOHNNY McCURTAIN
SULPHUR - Services for Johnny LaDon McCurtain were 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2 at
Krien Funeral Home Chapel, Sulphur. Interment followed at Rosedale Cemetery,
Ada.
Mr. McCurtain died Dec. 27, 2006. He was born Jan. 30, 1939, at Fitzhugh to
James Leon and Winona Mae Law McCurtain.
He grew up in Brentwood, Calif., where he met and married Rita Jackson. In
1974, he moved to Pontotoc County and in the 1990s, he moved his family to
Murray County where he resided at the time of his death.
Mr. McCurtain earned an associate's degree in animal science at Murray State
College in Tishomingo. He worked in construction most of his life.
He is preceded in death by his mother.
Survivors include four sons, Johnnie McCurtain, California, Darryl McCurtain
and Robert McCurtain, both of Davis and John McCurtain, Ada; one daughter,
Rhonda McCurtain, California; three brothers, Jerry McCurtain and James C.
McCurtain, both of California, and Lynn McCurtain, Sulphur; and five
grandchildren.

member of Ada Baptist Temple.
She married T.G. Brown on Sept. 29, 1983, at Wheeler, Texas. He died Jan. 28,
2004.

Mrs. Breeden died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007, at her home. She was born April 17,
1923, in Ada to Pink Eugene and Mae Belle Davis Ellison.
She graduated from Ada High School in 1942. Mrs. Breeden was an operator for
Southwestern Bell Telephone for more than 30 years until her retirement. She
was a member of the First Baptist Church, a member of the Home Extension Club,
Garden Club, and she was a member of the A.T.& T. Pioneers.
She married Logan Breeden in Ada.
Survivors include her husband, Logan Breeden, of the home; a sister, Annie
Cass, Ada; and many nieces and nephews and other family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Eugene J. Ellison,
three sisters, Frances Lawson, Hazel Hunter and Fay Morris.
Bearers will be her nephews.

GRANTS PASS, Ore. - Services for Jewel Vitatoe Muncrief, 94, Grants Pass,

Mrs. Muncrief died Dec. 29, 2006. She was born April 29, 1912 at Frisco,
Texas, to Milton and Frances Vitatoe.
On Jan. 9, 1936, she married Aaron Muncrief. In April 1989 he died.
She moved to San Diego, Calif., in March 1942 and to Grants Pass in May 1989.
She was a member of the Methodist Church in both Kingston and San Diego.
Survivors include one daughter, Jewel Hodge, Grants Pass, Ore.; one brother,
E.T. Vitatoe, Lancaster, Pa.; one grandson, Elden Hodge, Grants Pass, Ore.;
and two great-grandsons, Jarek and Ajay Hodge, Grants Pass, Ore.

Mrs. Brown died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007, at a local nursing home. She was born
Oct. 13, 1922, at Lawrence to John L. and Eva L. Price Nuner.
She attended school at Centrahoma and lived in this area all her life. She was
a member of Calvary Pentecostal Holiness Church and was active with various
women's ministries. She and her husband served as ministers for more than 50
years.
She married the Rev. Walter Ervin Brown Aug. 29, 1942, at Harden City.
He died April 14, 1998.
Survivors include three daughters, Alice Earl and her husband Ewell, Locust
Grove; Wanda E. Miller and her husband Harlos, Ada; and Peggie Little and her
husband Bill, Ada; one son, Walter E. Brown Jr. and his wife Patty, Ada; one
sister, Pat Worstein, Fresno, Calif.; one brother, Ed Nuner, Theodosia, Mo.;
10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and numerous great-great-
grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Driskill died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007, at her home in Stonewall. She was
born Nov. 22, 1922, at Tupelo, to Charlie and Cora Campbell Anderson.
She married Finis Driskill Feb. 5, 1945, at Ada. He died Dec. 8, 2005.
Mrs. Driskill attended Lone Oak Schools. She was a lifelong resident of
Stonewall and was a homemaker.
Survivors include a brother, Paul Anderson and his wife, Jackie, Centrahoma; a
sister, Lillie Ingram and her husband, L.K., Fritch, Texas; and several nieces
and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Finis Driskill; parents; a sister,
Sally Canida; two brothers, C.B. Anderson, Robert Anderson; and a niece, Doris
Faye Ingram.

Mr. Summers died Friday, Jan. 5, 2007, at a local hospital.
He was born March 20, 1918, in the Latta community to Matt and Lula Mae Mosier
Summers.
He attended school at Latta. He was employed at the Oklahoma Department of
Transportation from 1948- 1982 and affiliated with the Baptist Church.
He married Sarah Eppler Dec. 22, 1950.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Summers, of the home; one daughter, Karen
Drannon and her husband Stan, Stratford; two sons, Joe Summers and his wife
Brenda, Roff; and David Summers and his wife Glenda, Ponca City; five

Mrs. Brown died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007, at a local hospital. She was born Aug.
15, 1926, in the Leader community, near Stonewall to Joseph and Ora Cochran
Bruner.
She attended school at Franks. Mrs. Brown was a domestic worker in various
homes in the area, including the home of Walter Mayer. She was an active
member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Stonewall, where she served as the
Mission President and Church Clerk for many years. She was also a member of
the church choir.
She married Edward Lee "Eddie" Brown July 7, 1947. He died July 2000 in Ada.
Survivors include her children, Jerry Brown, Oklahoma City, Betty Riddle and
husband Bishop Tommy Riddle Sr., Hartshorne, Wanda Brown, Ada, Erma Watson,
Norman, Marilyn Pierce and husband Leon Pierce Sr., Tulsa, Kathleen Bitson and
husband Mike, Tulsa, Howard Brown and wife Anita, Norman, Eddie Brown Jr. and

Mrs. Marcum died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007. She was born Sept. 3, 1924, at
Blackwell to Robert Fuller and Lucy Mae Hammond Sampson.
She and her family moved to Ada in 1927 and she lived here the rest of her
life. She graduated from Ada High School in 1942, attended the Chickasha
College for Women, and received a master's degree in social work from the
University of Oklahoma.
Mrs. Marcum was a social worker for the state of Oklahoma, formerly owned
Forget-Me-Not Floral in Ada, and later raised miniature horses. She was
affiliated with the Baptist Church, was a former president of the Pontotoc
County Democratic Party for Women, served two terms as the Pontotoc County
Treasurer for the Democratic Party, and was a member of the American Miniature
Horse Association.
She married Denver Delton Marcum in February 2001 at Fort Worth, Texas.
Survivors include her husband, Denver Delton Marcum, of the home; two
daughters, Suzanne Clemons, Ada, and Lucijean Mason, Ada; two sons, Dr. Keith
Underhill, Edmond, and Kevin Ledford, Arkansas City, Kan.; nine grandchildren;
and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, James Burton Sampson.
Bearers will be Chuck Willett, Chase Norman, Ryan Vick, Rob Neal, Ric Towers,
and Ricky Horton. Honorary bearers will be Charlie Mayhue, Frank Dicus, Ted

Mr. Grove died Jan. 5, 2007. He was born Sept. 25, 1921, at Konawa to Arthur
Patrick and Anna Catherine KuestersteffenGrove.
He attended St. Mary's Academy Grade School at Sacred Heart and graduated from
Konawa High School in 1942. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as
a V-5 Cadet and received an honorable discharge on Jan. 4, 1943.
He married Iva Marie Bourbonnais Sept. 2, 1952. She died July 6, 1989. He
married Geraldine Lehman May 15, 1993, at Sacred Heart.
Mr. Grove worked in the greater area oil fields for more than 30 years as a
roughneck and roustabout for St. Louis Well Service and Kennedy and Booth Well
Service. He also farmed all of his life. He was a longtime member of Sacred
Heart Catholic Church and a lifetime member of American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Iva, July 6, 1989;
one son, Joseph Patrick Grove; one brother, Chris Grove and three sisters,
Emma Semtner, Monica Moran and Sister Mary Tarsicius, R.S.M.
Survivors include his wife Geraldine Grove, Shawnee; one daughter, Diane
Beesley, Shawnee; one brother, John Grove, Konawa; one sister, Teresa Sanders,
Newcastle; brother- in-law, Roy Bourbonnais, Tecumseh; two sisters-in-law, Ann
Hopkins and her husband Dean, Abilene, Texas, and Maggie Snider, Midwest City;
three grandchildren, Stephen Beesley, St. Louis, Okla., Victor Beesley,
Shawnee, and Tamryn Beesley, Shawnee; two great-grandchildren, Travis Doiron,

and two sisters, Bonnie Scott and Peggy Ledford.
Survivors include her husband Lloyd Fisher, of the home; one son, Randall W.
Nunley, Enid; one sister, Barbara Chase, Konawa; two grandchildren, Randy

Mr. Grimes died Jan. 8, 2007 at Ardmore. He was born June 24, 1924 at Achille
to Robert W. and Florence Anderson Grimes. He married Marjorie J. Lollar on
August 4, 1947 at Ada.
He served in the U.S. Army as a B-24 Bomber Pilot during World War II. He
would later attend and graduate from East Central University. He was an All-
Star basketball player for the ECU team and was inducted into the ECU Hall of
Fame. Mr. Grimes played professionally for the New York Knicks in 1948. He
moved back to Ada to operate Grimes Hardware until 1989. He was a member of
the First Baptist Church, serving a deacon for many years. He served as the
sports announcer for the Ada Cougars and ECU basketball and football athletic
programs. He was a member of the Ada Chamber of Commerce and many other civic
affairs.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Marjorie Grimes.
Survivors include numerous uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was a deacon at the St. Louis First Baptist Church. He was also a former
president of the Saint Louis Round-up Club, a team roper, a member of the Maud
Masonic Lodge and the Tecumseh American Legion and had served on the St. Louis
Water Board for several years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary Vieux, three sisters,
Ines Brinlee and Armenta and Elvina Vieux, one niece, Connie Wood Silas, one
nephew, Kenneth Ray Silas.

Mrs. Hollister attended Atwood Schools and has remained a Hughes County
resident most of her life.
She worked as a clerk for Smith's Drug Store for many years and was later
employed by Boyce Manor Nursing Home. She was a member of Barnard Memorial
United Methodist Church in Holdenville.
On Sept. 30, 1942, she married Lawrence Hollister in Rockford, Ill. He died
Oct. 11, 1970.
Mrs. Hollister was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four
sisters: Flora and husband, Eulis Cain, Wilma and husband, Brice Turner, Leona
and husband, Harry Edwards, and Doris Wilkerson and sister-in-law, Mary
Wilkerson.
Survivors include three brothers, Kenneth and wife, Bonnie Wilkerson, Ada,
Carey Wilkerson, Tulsa, and Freeland and wife Erma Jean Wilkerson, Tulsa; a

Mr. West died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, at his home. He was born July 25, 1913,
at Francis to Ely and Effie Bolin West.
He attended school at Cedar Grove and Francis. He served in the U.S. Air Force
during World War II. Mr. West was a Flight Maintenance Gunner, flying in 29
combat missions in a B-26 aircraft over enemy occupied territory of Germany
and Belgium. He received the American Theater EAME Theater Ribbon with 3
Bronze Stars, the Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart, Air Medal with 3 Bronze
Clusters, and the Victory Medal.
He moved to Moore in 1950 and returned to Francis in 1969. Mr. West was
employed at Tinker Air Force Base in 1950 as a Hydraulic Mechanic and retired
in 1971. He was a charter member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Moore
and helped build the current building at Cedar Grove Free Will Baptist Church,
where he was a longtime active member and served as a Deacon.
He married Hazel Louise Scroggins Dec. 8, 1945. She died Sept. 17, 2004.
Survivors include two daughters, Melba Sue Dixon and husband Chester, Francis,
and LaWanda Jeanne White and husband Willie, Francis; a son, Lonnie Thomas
West and wife Carolyn, Oklahoma City; two sisters, Edith Sutton, Moore and
Vergie Jones, Henryetta; six grandchildren, Debra Dixon, Francis, LaDonna

Dr. Broadie died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, at his home. He was born Feb. 25,
1940, at Mangum to James Lloyd "Peck" Broadie and Opal Belle Harper Broadie.
He attended grade school at Lake Creek, Oklahoma and high school at Granite.
In 1962, Dr. Broadie graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State College with a
degree in pharmacy. In 1964, he graduated from Kansas University with a
master's of pharmacology. In 1970, he graduated from the University of Arizona
with a P.H.D of pharmacology. In 1978, he received a medical degree from the
University of Oklahoma. Dr. Broadie was a physician of family practice and
emergency room physician from 1998 to the present, he was employed at Valley
View Regional Hospital. He was also pharmacist and an associate professor of
pharmacology at Southwestern Oklahoma State College.
They moved to Ada in 1999. He was an active member of the Central Church of
Christ. Dr. Broadie was a member of the Phi Delta Chi and RHO Chi Harmacy
Honor Socity. He also served as medical liaison for CASA and volunteered at
Compassion Outreach Center free Medical Clinic.
Dr. Broadie married Barbara Christeen Colson on June 1, 1962 in Granite.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara, Ada; mother-in-law, Beatrice Colson,
Granite; adopted mother, Lavita Ford, Granite; son, James Broadie and wife
Shannon, Ponca City; daughter, Deidre Stuehrenberg and husband Scott, Altus;
brothers and sisters, J.L. Broadie, Mustang, Bill and Crystal Colson, Granite,
Janice and H.C. Clopp, Fairfield, Texas, Sharon and Roger Sandwith, Friday
Harbor, Wash., and Nancy and Jerry McGavock, Granite; three grandchildren,
Morgan Miller and Mitchell Stuehrenberg, both of Altus; and Elizabeth Broadie,
Ponca City, many nieces and nephews, whom he loved very much and many beloved
friends and loyal patients.
His parents and two aunts proceeded him in death, Madge Mitchell, whom reared
him; and Eunice Hoskins, who supported his dreams.

Mrs. Thomas died Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, at a Sulphur hospital. She was born
June 19, 1918, at Coalgate to Joseph Herbert and Claudia E. LaHue Keatley.
She and her family moved to Ada in 1918 from Coalgate. She attended school at
Irving Elementary and graduated from Ada High School. She received a bachelor
of arts degree from East Central University and a master's degree from the
University of Oklahoma. She also attended Del Mar College at Corpus Christi,
Texas; Oklahoma State University; and the University of Utah.
Mrs. Thomas was a middle school teacher and librarian for 35 years in
Seminole, Tulsa, Corpus Christi, Texas, and Ada. After retirement, she became
a representative and district manager for World Book, Inc., and a recruiter
for Good Neighbor Tours.
She was a longtime member of Trinity Baptist Church, where she was in the
Dorcas Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Oklahoma Education
Association, the Pontotoc County Retired Educators, Delta Kappa Gamma Society
of Women Teachers, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and was a charter
member of Xi Sigma Chapter of Sigma Delta Pi National Honor Society in
Spanish. She was also a member of the Marigold Unit of the Ada Garden Clubs,
past Noble Grand of the Ada Rebekah Lodge and a life member of Beta Sigma Phi.
She and her family were charter members of the Historical Society, First
Families of the Twin Territories, which catalogs early settlers of the Indian
and Oklahoma Territories.
She married Leonard Thomas on Dec. 25, 1950, in Ada. He died July 3, 1990 in
Ada.
Survivors include a son, Leonard Joseph Thomas, Ada; a daughter, Linda Rhea
Wilson and husband Lyle, Davis; a granddaughter, Tatiana Rhea Wilson, Davis; a
brother, Ivan H. Keatley and wife Mary Joe, Tulsa; and a nephew, John Holland
Keatley, Tulsa.

She graduated from Center High School and received a lifetime teaching degree
from East Central State College. She taught at Parrish Chapel, a one room
school where she taught eight grades. Later, she was a houseparent at the
Oklahoma School for the Deaf in Sulphur, retiring in 1978.

Houston, Texas, David Tilley and wife Connie, San Antonio, Texas, Herb Tilley

Mr. Richardson died Jan. 15, 2007. He was born Jan. 8, 1930 at Waurika to
Claude and Hazel Thompson Richardson.
He was a graduate of Waurika High School. He served in the United States Air
Force where he was stationed in Bermuda for four years as a sergeant and a
Hurricane Hunter. Mr. Richardson moved to Seminole from Duncan, Oklahoma where
he retired from Halliburton Services. In June 1974, he started working for W.
H. Kopezynski of Ada as a company man for his oil production company, Texhoma
Oil and Gas.
He married Karen Posey Richardson in 1976 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas.
In 1978 he started working for Tommy Eeds of Seminole at his company, Seminole
Acid. Shortly afterwards they formed Apollo Oil Tools.
In 1981 he bought Apollo Oil Tools from Tommy and it continues to operate in
Letha, Oklahoma with his son, Matt Cone and son-in-law, Mike Baxter. John was
a member of the Harvey Road Baptist Church, Seminole Elks Lodge and a former
Maud city council member where he lived in Maud for twenty-three years, prior
to moving to Seminole eight years ago.
His parents preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife Karen Richardson of the home; three sons and
daughters-in-law; Mike and Kelly Richardson, Plano, Texas, Dusty and Tammy
Gaff, Jett, Oklahoma and Matt and Dutchess Cone, Wewoka; two daughters and
sons-in-law; Shawn and Mike Baxter, Seminole and Vicki and Sam Brimer,

Mrs. McLish was preceded in death by her husband Sherman McLish; one son, Joe
Edward Brecheen; four brothers, Newt Hilton, Callaway Hilton, George Hilton
and John Hilton; and three sisters, May Graham, Marie Beavers and Thelma
Thompson.

Mr. Sears died Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, at a Tulsa hospital. He was born July

He attended Stonewall area schools.
Mr. Sears was employed with the Ada Police Department from May 16, 1953,
retiring on April 30, 1973, as assistant chief of police. He attended the
Assembly of God Church. Mr. Sears served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He married Claudius Pannell Smith Sept. 15, 1986.
Survivors include his wife, Claudius Sears, of the home; one stepson, Jim
Smith, Elmore City; two sisters, Lois Newell, Ada, and Hazel Boyd, Chickasha;
a sister-in-law, Bertha Sears, Wichita Falls, Texas; and several nieces and
nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, John Preston

Mr. Whiteley died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007, at a local hospital. He was born
June 9, 1933, at Coalgate to Carl and Marie Lennier Whiteley.
He graduated from Coalgate High School and graduated from Oklahoma A & M. He
moved to Ada in 1957 from Coalgate.
Mr. Whiteley was employed with Howard Sheet Metal from 1957 until 1970. Since
1986, he owned and operated a heating and cooling service in Ada. Mr. Whiteley
was a longtime active member of Trinity Baptist Church, where he was ordained
a deacon in 1958. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 until 1956 in
Anchorage, Alaska.
He married Betty Graves on June 2, 1957.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Whiteley, of the home; a daughter, Gina
Whiteley, Ada; son, Wayne Whiteley, Ada; one brother, Deane Whiteley and wife
Meredith, Phoenix, Ariz.; nieces, nephews and several cousins; and a former
neighbor and close friend, Joe Menefee.

Mr. Finley was ordained as a minister in 1965 and was employed for many years
with the Jan Francis Care Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers, Hershel Finley, Robie
Finley, G.W. "Whiz" Finley, Kermit Finley, Perry W. Finley Jr., Rural George
Finley and Laymon Finley; and one sister, Alene.

Mr. Chambers served in the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II. After the
war, he was employed at Tinker Air Force Base in the fire department. He then
transferred to the Tinker Police Department, retiring as a second lieutenant.
He moved back to Ada in 1972. Later, he opened the Farm Fresh Garden Center
and later opened and operated the Ada Garden Center. Mr. Chambers was a member
of the Evangelistic Temple.
He married Dovie J. Tracy on March 13, 1948.
Survivors include his wife, Dovie Chambers, of the home; a daughter, Penny
Whipple and husband Craig, Ada; a son, Edward Chambers and wife Val,
Farmersville, Texas; two granddaughters, Janesa L. Whipple West and husband

Mr. Candelas died Jan. 19, 2007, at Stratford. He was born April 24, 1918, in
Mexico, to Francisca and Mannuel Candelas.
He married Denzie Smart Sept. 4, 1947, at Oklahoma City. She died Feb. 14,
2005.
He lived his early life in Oklahoma and the past 50 years in Stratford. He was
a truck driver and was a vetern of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army.
Mr. Candelas was preceded in death by his wife and a son, Danny Candelas,
April 9, 1992.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Craig Pullen,
Stratford; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

11, 1946, at Allen to Truman Noble and Virgie Vinita Rail Borders.
He attended Allen schools and graduated from Allen High School in 1964, where
he was co- valedictorian of his class. He also attended East Central
University. Mr. Borders was a farmer and rancher in the Allen area and a
member of the Allen Church of Christ. He served in the U.S. Army National
Guard.
Survivors include his mother, Vinita Borders, Allen; two sisters, Janet
Borders, Allen, and Janice Carty and husband Barry, Lake Oswego, Ore.; a
sister-in-law, Bobbie Kay Borders, Ada; two nieces, Michelle Barrick and

He was preceded in death by his father, Truman Noble Borders Jan. 13, 1993,

and remain until Wednesday, when he will be moved to Rock Springs Indian

Mr. Harjo died Jan. 21, 2007, at his home. He was born Nov. 25, 1928, to
Fousharjochee Harjo and Yahnah Morgan at Konawa.
He served in the United States Army as a medic during the Korean War. He
married Lucy Mae Cornelius April 12, 1954, at Seminole.
Mr. Harjo worked as a truck driver for a moving company for several years and
was a founding member of Rock Springs Indian Baptist Church at Sasakwa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Lucy in August 1992; one
daughter, Carol Hawkins; one grandson, Micah Hawkins; two brothers and three
sisters.
Survivors include one son, Clifford Harjo, Holdenville; 10 grandchildren,
including Charlie Harjo and his wife Brittany, Edmond Owens Harjo and Clifford
Harjo, Jr., all of Ada; five great-grandchildren, eight nieces and many other
family members and friends.

Mrs. Hixson died Sunday, Jan.21, 2007, at a care home in Allen, Texas. She was
born March 6, 1915, in Okemah, Okla., to James Henderson and Mae Allston
Henderson.
She married Hinkle Blevins Aug. 28, 1936, in Lula, Okla. He died Oct. 10,
1951. She married Taz Hixson on Oct. 20, 1955, in Ada, Okla. He died July 24,
1992.
She moved to Ada in 1935 and graduated from East Central State College in 1940
with a bachelor's degree in education and in 1954 with a master's degree in
education. During her 33 years of Oklahoma public school teaching, she taught
elementary and secondary students in Pontotoc, Asher, Latta and Byng. In
recent years she moved to Plano, Texas, to be closer to her children and
grandchildren.
Survivors include a son, Isaac Hinkle Blevins, Murphy, Texas; a daughter,
Patricia Ann Lewis, Plano, Texas; grandsons, the Rev. Andrew J. Lewis,
McKinney, Texas, and Christopher H. Blevins McKinney, Texas; granddaughters,
Rebecca A. Langevin, McKinney, Texas, Tracy L. Blevins, Lubbock, Texas, and
Carol A. Blevins, Murphy, Texas; great grandsons, Nathan A. Lewis, McKinney,

Mrs. Perry died Friday, Jan.19, 2007, at a Del Rio, Texas, hospital. She was
born Dec. 13, 1912, at St. Louis, Mo., to Charles Arthur and Sophia Frye
Reeder.
She and her family moved from St. Louis to Ardmore in 1922. In Ardmore, Mrs.
Perry graduated from Bloomfield School for Girls, then from Murray State
College in Tishomingo.
She married Johnson Robert Perry July 23, 1935 in Pawhuska, Okla. They raised
their family at Ada and after retirement moved to Stonewall. He died February
8, 1984.
Mrs. Perry was a homemaker until her boys were grown, and then was employed by
the Pontotoc County Health Department and the Oklahoma Department of
Vocational Rehabilitation until retirement. She was a member of Boiling
Springs United Methodist Church, east of Lula, was active in the Chickasaw
circles, she traveled with the Chickasaw Senior Citizens, was a Carl Albert
hospital volunteer, a member of the Chickasaw Cats, and the Healthy Heart Club
at Valley View Regional Hospital. Mrs. Perry formerly taught Sunday School at
Trinity Baptist Church, and she and her husband helped establish the Ada
Indian Baptist Church many years ago.
Survivors include four sons, Robert Johnson Perry and wife Faye, Ada, Charles
Perry and wife Kay, Ada, Norman Perry and wife Sallie, Broken Arrow, and
Kirkland Perry and wife Kay, Ada; a sister, Julia Harlin, Corona, California;
nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Stelle Reeder, and a
brother, Charles Arthur Reeder Jr.

Mrs. Ward died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2007, at a Sandy, Utah, nursing home. She
was born May 27, 1918, at Olustee, Okla., to Lester and Bettie Bush Lewis. She
graduated from Olustee High School and was salutatorian of her class. She was
a member of the State Honor Society for three years.
After high school, she attended Central State College in Edmond, Okla.,
earning a bachelor's degree in education. Later, she taught school for two
years. She earned her master's degree in education from East Central State
College in Ada.
Mrs. Ward moved to California and married John Ward on Nov. 18, 1941, in Yuma,
Ariz. before returning to Los Angeles where she worked in an aircraft factory
during World War II.
They returned to Oklahoma after the war and her husband worked as a traveling
salesman. The family moved from Clinton and Cordell, Okla., to Lubbock and
Vernon, Texas. They eventually settled in Ada, where John worked for Levi
Strauss and Lorene worked for Hartford Insurance. Mr. Ward died April 13,
1990.
Mrs. Ward was very active in the Baptist Church, serving as president of the
Baptist Student Union Council during college. In Ada, she taught Sunday school
classes for teens and was involved in many activities at First Baptist Church.
After moving to Salt Lake City, she continued to attend Southeastern Baptist
Church.
Survivors include her son, Dr. Robert Marshall Ward and wife Barbara, Salt
Lake City; grandchildren, Kristin Ward, Jennifer Mulligan and husband Michael,
David Ward and Natalie Ward; and a great- granddaughter, Julia Ward-Mulligan;
nieces, Judy Lundberg and husband Tom, Gail Schwartz and husband Steven, and
Cindy Helms and husband Richard; and a brother, Lesley Lewis.

TWYLA SMITH
Twyla Smith, 71, of Corpus Christi, TX, died peacefully in a local hospital on
Jan. 28, 2007, following a prolonged battle with the tragic effects of a
hemorrhagic stroke. She was born and raised in Allen, OK, where she attended
public schools, excelling in both academics and athletics. Her formal
education was concluded with graduation in 1956, from East Central University,
Ada, OK. Twyla then began a promising and fulfilling career as an educator in
the Tuloso-Midway ISD in Corpus Christi, TX, and ending with her retirement in
1993, from the Calallen ISD in the same location. Twyla was beloved by her
family, friends, students and fellow teachers. She was a longtime member of
the Tuloso-Midway Baptist Church, Corpus Christi, TX.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Thomas and Esther Mays, Allen, OK.
In June, 1960, Twyla joined Kenneth L. Smith in matrimony that began 46 years
of their lives together with Kenneth surviving. They welcomed, loved and
nurtured two surviving children into their world, a son, Tracy (Terri) Smith,
La Quinta, CA, and a daughter, Kenna (Keith) Smith, Corpus Christi, TX. Other
survivors include a brother, Ed (Helen) Mays, Clear Lake, TX; four
grandchildren, Paige, Katy and Ryan Smith of La Quinta, CA, and Kelsi Smith of
Corpus Christi, TX.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 30, 2007 in
Sawyer-George Funeral Home.

COWETA - Services for Gregory "Greg" R. Lunsford, 38, Coweta, are 10 a.m.
Thursday at Hayhurst Funeral Home Chapel, Broken Arrow, with burial following
at Vernon Cemetery, Coweta.
Mr. Lunsford died Jan. 28, 2007 at a Tulsa hospital. He was born Feb. 17, 1968
at Ada to Tommy and Janice (Mercer) Lunsford.
He was a graduate of Ada High School and moved to Coweta 20 years ago from
Ardmore. He married Vicky Castro April 24, 2004 at Tulsa and worked in the
maintenance department at Franciscan Villa.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Randy Karty.
Survivors include his wife, Vicky Lunsford, Coweta; one son, Maui; one
daughter Rain Li; mother Janice Karty, Ada; father, Tommy Lunsford and his
wife, Noma, Ardmore; brother, Kyle Lunsford, Oklahoma City; sisters, Gina
Lunsford, Ada, Lori Karty, Bronx, N.Y., and Nancy Kimmick and her husband
Jeff, Queen Creek, AZ.

NELL KIRKER
MIDWEST CITY - Services for Nell T. Kirker, 85, Midwest City, are 1 p.m.
Friday at the Wesley United Methodist Church, with burial following at
Arlington Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Kirker died Jan. 29, 2007. She was born Oct. 18, 1921 at Franks, Okla. to
John James and Mary Alice Rowlett Townsend. She lived in Midwest City since
1942 and was a secretary at Tinker AFB for 37 years, retiring in 1979. Mrs.
Kirker was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Harold, Virgil, Bill
and Beecher; two sisters, Lynette and Juanita;
Survivors include her husband Richard "Dick" Kirker, of the home; sisters,
Joanne Olberding, Plano, Texas, and Doris Deitch and her husband John,
Johnstown, N.Y.; close friend Sharon Lewis; and several nieces and nephews.

BERL WILLIAMS
ADA - Services for Berl Edward Williams, 65, Ada, are 10 a.m. Friday at the
Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, John Mayhue will officiate. Burial will follow
at Lightning Ridge Cemetery.
Mr. Williams died Monday, Jan. 29, 2007, in Ada. He was born Aug. 22, 1941, in
Roff to Earl and Leda Johnson Williams.
He attended Irving Elementary and Ada High School. He lived in Oklahoma City
and Tulsa before moving back to Ada.
Mr. Williams was an auto body repairman for many years and a member of the Ada
Lodge 1640 Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks since 1980. He served
in the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include a daughter, Kari Condon and husband Ben, Ada; a grandson,
Hunter Condon; three brothers, Clifford Williams and wife Norma, Ada, Don
Williams and wife Dianna, Kingston, and David Williams and wife Izolde, Little
Elm, Texas; four sisters, Lois Montgomery, Redlands, Calif., Anita Lewis and
husband Richard, Stafford, Arizona, Reta Lowry and husband Fred, Tulsa, and
Phillis Northcutt and husband Benny, Ada; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bearers will be Mike Beller, Will Bynum, Chip McNutt, Charles Null, Gene
Thomas, Hoot Gibson. Honorary bearers will be Kent Morrison, Stanley Taylor,
Bill Montin, David Fisher, Dexter Pruitt, and Bob McNutt.
The family says those who wish may make memorials to the Cowboy Crisis at the
