a.m. Wednesday at Lightening Ridge Cemetery, the Rev. Richard Zimmer
officiating.
Mrs. Houck died June 30, 2003, at Shawnee. She was born Dec. 16, 1935, near
Sulphur to Homer L. and Essie Davis.
She and J.T. Houck were married July 18, 1972, at Dallas, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her father, Homer L. Davis; two sisters, Janie
Garrett and Linda Wheeler; and one son, Michael Ray Roundtree.
Survivors include her husband, J.T. Houck, of the home; seven children and
their spouses, James T. and Kim Houck, Patty and Chuck Lowrey, all of Shawnee;
Susie and Ramey Tarron, Ada; Myra and Jerry Frederick, Silo; Donna Nesbitt,
Earlsboro; Mark and Brenda Roundtree, Tecumseh, and Russell and Tammy
Roundtree, Norman; her mother, Essie Davis, Ada; six brothers and sisters,

ADA - Services for Gladys Lorene Burnett, 79, Ada, are 10 a.m. Thursday at
River of Life Church at 7th and Cherry Streets, the Rev. Charles Dial
officiating. Burial follows at Rosedale Cemetery.
Mrs. Burnett died July 1, 2003, at a local nursing facility. She was born Jan.
12, 1924, at Ada to Allen and Beatrice Scates George. She lived in this area
all her life and was a homemaker.
She married Winford H. "Wimp" Burnett May 16, 1943, at Reno, Nev. He preceded
her in death June 9, 1992, in Ada. She was affiliated with River of Life
Church in Ada.
Survivors include one son, Ronald Burnett and wife Valerie, Francis; three
sisters, Billie Bonds, California, Jewel McComber, Pearson, and Daisy Cooper,
Ada; two grandsons, John Burnett and Michael Burnett, both of Francis; and
five great-grandchildren.
Bearers are John Burnett, Mike Burnett, Butch VanSickle, Jerry Morgan, Jack
Vogt and Jimmy Gregurich.

Mrs. Klicker died June 30, 2003, at a local hospital. She was born April 29,
1928, at Haileyville to Chester and Ruth Young.
She came to this area in 1955 from Hartshorne. She attended Haileyville
school. She was a telephone operator in Oklahoma City. She later was employed
at the McAlester Ammunition Depot, Wrangler and retired from Brockway after 25
years of employment.
She and James Klicker were married Oct. 19, 1976, at Oklahoma City. She was
affiliated with the Lovelady Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn Young, Nov. 2, 1984.
Survivors include her husband, James Klicker, of the home; four daughters,
Carolyn Williams, McAlester, Rosie Bruner, Branson, Mo., Kathy Moorehead and
Barbara Jordan, both of Oklahoma City; one sister, Marilyn Haseltine, Coppell,
Texas; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Milburn died July 1, 2003, at a local nursing facility. He was born June
8, 1915, at St. Louis to John W. and Agnes Lourinda Swift Milburn.
He moved to Byng in 1984 from Pearson and to Roff in 2001. He was a retired
mechanic and welder.
He married Norma Wilson. She died June 9, 1989. He later married Opal Young on
Oct. 7, 1989, at Russellville, Ark. He was a Sunday school teacher at Pearson
Baptist Church. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and served in the U.S.
Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Opal Milburn, of the home; one son, Jerry Clark
Milburn, Asher; two daughters, Fae Ann Jackson, Copperas Cove, Texas, and
Marilyn Lourinda Price, Ada; one brother, J.W. Milburn, Norman; one sister,
Pearl Lindruff, Tecumseh; four stepsons, Billy Gene Young, Moore, Ocie Lee
Young, Cherry Valley, Calif., Vernon Truitt Young, Tonkawa, and Jimmy Carl
Young, Yukon; four stepdaughters, Doris Mae Winn, Kansas, Okla., Nancy Morrow,

Ark. She attended grade school in Cale, Ark., and graduated from Cale, Ark.
She graduated from Dalton Business College in Lawton and was a homemaker.
She and the Rev. Maynard H. Whipple were married Dec. 16, 1950, at Lawton. She
was affiliated with Oak Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Maynard Whipple, of the home; two sons, David
Whipple, Konawa, and Craig Whipple and wife Peni, Ada; one daughter, Harriett
Hudson and husband Art, Konawa; one brother, Charles Garrett, Texarkana, Ark.;

He and Rosella McDuffie were married Nov. 4, 1950, at Calvin.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Emma Lee Marshall, of
Bakersfield.

Mr. Cantwell died July 5, 2003, at a local hospital. He was born Feb. 1, 1932,
at Stratford to Roy and Cora Heimer Cantwell.
He lived all his life in this area and attended Vanoss School, where he
graduated from high school in 1950.
He was employed with the Ada Fire Department, retiring in 1995 after 36 years
of service. Previously he was employed with the local glass plant, cement
plant and Kerr-McGee. He was a member of Morris Memorial Baptist Church and
served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He and Frances Morrison were married July 7, 1953, at Roff.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Cantwell, of the home; a daughter, Sharon
Pennington and her husband Wade of Ada; three sons, Hershel Cantwell and wife
Shelly and Kevin Cantwell and wife Traci, all Of Ada, and Kent Cantwell and

He died July 5, 2003, at his home. He was horn Sept. 25, 1924, at Ada to John
Benjamin and Alma Hubbard Foster.
He lived in Ada all his, life until 1961, when he moved to Jacksonville, Fla.,
for five years. He attended and graduated from Byng schools. He received a
bachelor of science degree in education from East Central University and a
master's degree in education from ECU.
He was a teacher in Jacksonville for five years. He returned to Oklahoma in
1966 where he taught at Chickasha High School until retirement. While teaching
at Chickasha, he started the program for televised school courses at the high
school as well as at the University of Science and Arts in Chickasha.
He served in the 5th Marine Division of the U.S. Marines in World War II. He
was also a Baptist.
He and Betty Jean Hammond Foster were married Feb. 17, 1948, at Sherman,
Texas.
Survivors include his wife, Betty, of the home; a daughter, LaDonna Hurley,
Chickasha; a son, Kent Foster, Chickasha; four grandchildren, Rebekah Hurley,
Garrett Foster and Andrew Foster, all of Chickasha, and Chad Hurley, Ada;
three sisters, Betty Dempsey and Norma Jean Gorham, both of Ada; and Peggy
Johnson, Midwest City; and four brothers, Charles Foster and David Foster,
both of Ada, and Wallace Foster and Jack Foster, both of Arizona.

Mr. Jones died July 5, 2003, at Stratford. He was born April 28, 1907, in
Midland, Indian Territory, to Jess and Adella Jones.
He was a Farmers Union Insurance Agent. He spent 25 years in Oklahoma City and
the remainder of his life in the Vanoss and Stratford area. He was a member of
Midland Church of Christ.
He and Leona James were married March 13, 1930, in Vanoss. She died in 1954.
He then married Myrtle Doatherage. She died in 2000.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth Dale and Billie
Jones, Don and Betty Jones and Terry and Mary Jones, all of. Stratford; four
daughters and soris-in-law, Bonnie Ruth and LeRoy O'Neal, Charlotte and John
Daniel, Reba Davidson, all of Stratford, and Joleta and Andy Murray, Ada; two
brothers, Casey Jones, Clovis, N.M., and Sam Jones, Ada; three sisters, Cubie
Childers, Betty Bell, both of Oklahoma City, and Francis Mayer, Rosedale; 33
grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren.

Henryetta, and Florence Vangundy, Clayton, Ind.; four great-grandfathers, Carl
Vangundy, Clayton, Ind., Louis Giulioli, Okmulgee, and Jay Mumford and Jimmy
Hardgrave, both of Henryetta; and grandfather, Norman Druckamiller, Corsicana,
Texas.
Survivors include her daughter, Saylor Robyn-Dyan Smith, of the home; her
mother, Dianne Vangundy, of the home; her father, David Vangundy and wife
Jeanette, Ada; a sister, Kelcey Nicole Vangundy, of the home; grandparents,

Mr. Steiner died July 6, 2003, at a local nursing facility. He was born April
18, 1917, at Dallas, Texas, to Robert and Zora Johnson Steiner. He attended
school in Wichita Falls, Texas.
He came to this area in 1948 from Wichita Falls. He attended the University of
Oklahoma and served in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving overseas for
about three years. He was discharged as a Captain.
He and Mary Hodges were married Dec. 31, 1949.
Mr. Steiner was the manager of S&Q Clothiers in Ada from 1948 until 1986. He
was affiliated with First United Methodist Church. He was the former president
of the church board and was locally active with the American Heart Association
and Cub Scouts. He was a member of Ada Lodge #119 Ancient Free and Accepted
Masons, Retail Merchants Association, Ada Area Chamber of Commerce, and was
formerly active with the Kiwanis Little League Baseball program.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Steiner, of the home; two sons, Courtney
Steiner, Crowley, Texas, and Robert L. Steiner Jr., Las Cruces, N.M.; a
sister, Dorothy Kelley, Edmond; five grandchildren, Amber Brooks, Kevin
Steiner, Janie Henderson, Sarah Steiner and Rachel Steiner; six great-
grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a nephew, Preston Cox, Embudo, N.M.;
and a niece, Patricia Kelley Jones, Edmond.

COALGATE Services for Wilma Rhea Wilson, 84, Coalgate, are 10 a.m. Thursday
at First Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Glenn Franks officiating. Burial

p.m. today at Browns Funeral Home, Atoka, and 1-8 p.m. Wednesday at First
Christian Church.
Mrs. Wilson died July 7, 2003, at a Coalgate hospital. She was born Sept. 11,
1918, at Milburn to George Elmer and Louise Stallcup Rhea. She attended grade
school at Wardville, Limestone Gap and graduated from Kiowa High School in
1936.
She and Paul Wilson were married Oct. 16, 1937, at Stuart.
Mrs. Wilson was a bookkeeper for the family business for many years. She was
also a homemaker and was a longtime member of the Coalgate First Presbyterian
Church. She was organist for many years at Coalgate, Atoka and Stringtown
Presbyterian churches.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Louise Rhea, and a
brother, Felmet Rhea.
Survivors include her husband, Paul Wilson, of the home; four children, Lou
Ellen Hatchett, Friendswood, Texas, Rhea S. Wilson, Moore, Sharon Nell Butts
and Karen Dell Wilson, both of Arlington, Texas; two sisters, Norma Jean
Wilson, Coalgate, Gwen Newberry, Okemah; seven grandchildren; four great-
grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Bearers are Johnny Winters, Bill Wilson, Thomas Hatchett, James Hatchett, Mark
Wilson and Steven Wilson.
Honorary bearers are Conner Pulliam, Ray Ingram, Ed Denney, Roy Dan Burns,

Mrs. Humes died July 11, 2003, at her home. She was born June 21, 1931, at
Clarita to Edward Leo and Savanah Ethleen Guynes Walkup. She attended grade
school in Clarita and later graduated from Clarita High School.
She lived in Hennessey from 1966-1993, and then returned to this area.
She and James Edward Humes were married March 17, 1950.
Mrs. Humes was a homemaker and an active member of First Baptist Church of
Union Valley. She had also been active in Hennessey First Baptist Church,
teaching Sunday school and Bible school and caring for children.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lindsey Ruthann Perry; a
brother, J.E. Jeep Walkup; and an infant sister.
Survivors include her husband, James Edward Humes, of the home; a son, Eddie
Ray Humes, Mt. Airey, N.C.; two daughters, Paula Enix and husband Richard,
Moore, and Robin Perry and husband Lynn, Hennessey; five brothers, Harold
Walkup, Paul Walkup, both of Ada, Richard Walkup, Tupelo, Jerry Tom Walkup,
Lovelady, and Danny Walkup, Shawnee; five sisters, Katie Anderson, Stonewall,
Betty Nowlan, Union Valley, Billye Verticchio-Walkup, Shirley Noe, both of
Ada, and Carolyn Knight, Largo, Fla.; a granddaughter whom she raised,
Stephani Humes, Oklahoma City; seven other grandchildren; and five great-
grandchildren.

Mr. Groves died July 12, 2003, at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was born Oct.
17, 1932, at Ada to Van and Mollie Boland Groves.
He graduated from Ada High School and worked at Brockway Glass and later
retired from Holnam Cement Co. after 36 years of employment.
He served in the U.S. Army artillery and later as a cook. He was affiliated
with Wilson Freewill Baptist Church and was a member of the Ada Ostomy Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Dean Stevenson; and a
brother, Sylvan Groves.
Survivors include his godson, Michael Phillips, Purcell; two brothers, Floyd
Groves and wife Mary Nell, and Glen Groves and wife Noralene, all of Ada; one
sister, Lennie Mae McKaskle, Oklahoma City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Hobbs died July 12, 2003, at a local nursing facility. She was born June
17, 1920, at Honey Grove, Texas, to William Daniel Dan and Mary Ellen Howell
Timmons.
She lived in this area all her life and attended school at Connerville. She
was a housekeeper at Jan Frances Care Center until her retirement. Previously,
she was employed at Valley View Regional Hospital and Oakman School.
She and William E. "Buster" Hobbs were married Aug. 22, 1938, at Tishomingo.
He preceded her in death in 1991.
She attended Byng First Free Will Baptist Church and was a former member of
the Oakman Quilting Club.
She was preceded in death by twin sons in 1939 and her 10 brothers and
sisters.
Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Jones and Norma Stettler, both of
Ada; one son, Eugene Hobbs, Ada; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren;
and numerous nephews, nieces and other relatives.
Bearers are Bobby Timmons, Chester Timmons, Andrew Timmons, Richard Timmons,
Willie Timmons and Glen Hobbs.

He and Betty Rae Levingston were married May 18, 1948. The couple lived near
Coalgate until 1962 and moved to this area then.
Mr. Sells retired from Pipeline Construction in 1970. He continued to farm in
Coalgate.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Betty Marie Mattison, Baxter Springs,
Kan.; two sisters, Christine Thomas, La Mirada, Calif., and Dorothy Williams,
Coalgate; and a brother, Marvin Sells, Atwood, Okla.
Survivors include his wife Betty Rae, of the home; three daughters, Rhonda
Delmont and Brenda Buckner, Columbus, Kan., and Nancy McLendon, Easton, Kan.;
two sisters, Katherine Redding, Houston, Texas, and Leona Holder, Coalgate;
two brothers, Frank Sells, Coalgate, and Denver Sells, Gerty, Okla.; 10
grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
