She was born Monday, September 15, 1947 to Roy and Elizabeth (Checoata) Davis in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. On December 15, 1996, she married Michael Kelvin Allen in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. She was a member of the Newtown Methodist Church in Okmulgee. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Billie Gardner. Survivors include her husband, Michael K. POLLY ANDERSON Polly Frances Anderson, 96, of Dewar died Nov. 7, 2004 at Dewar. She was born March 25, 1008 in Bugtussle, Oklahoma to Lou Teonia Shaffer and Henry Clinton Shaffer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Anderson, one son, Junior Crawford, daughter in law, Clarene Crawford, her parents, four brothers and three sisters. Survivors include seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a host of friends and other relatives. Creason was born in Hectorville, Oklahoma on November 24,1929 to Calvin Clayborn and Nannie Francis (Wallace) Creason. He married Ella "Joan'' Rush in Sapulpa, Oklahoma on November 21, 1951. They were married 53 years this past Sunday. Rev. Creason was a welder and pastured the Living Way Tabernacle Church in Okmulgee for 28 years. He enjoyed his family cattle, his Boston terrier, golf and football. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son; Melvin Harold Creason Jr and his wife Brenda and four brothers; Elbert Creason, Elza Creason, Vernard Creason and Fred Creason and two sisters; Gladys Pollard and Bertie Garrison. NORMA DRAKE Norma Edith Drake, 72, a longtime resident of Okmulgee died on Sunday, November 6, 2004 in Okmulgee. Norma was born on February 16, 1932 in Webb City, Oklahoma. She had worked as a painting contractor until her retirement. She loved quilting, needlework and cooking for friends and family. Mrs. Drake was a member of the Morris First Assembly of God Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Drake death in 1979 and her parents. Drew, 71, a former resident of Boynton died November 4, 2004 in an Oklahoma City nursing home. He was born in Haskel1 OK, November 12, 1932 to George and Lulla (Jones) Drew. Russell received his veterinary medicine degree from Tuskegee Institute in 1958. He served his country in the Air Force, receiving an honorable discharge in l963. Preceding him in death were his parents. Survivors include one daughter, Elvira Smith of Oklahoma City; three grandchildren, many relatives and friends. A Homegoing Celebration will be conducted Friday, November 12, at 10:00 a.m. in the Precious Memories Chapel, 607 E. 5th Street in Okmulgee. Burial with an honor guard will be in the Ft. Johnson, 84, of Okmulgee, died Monday, November 15, 2004 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. He was born Thursday, April 29, 1920 to Willie and Ada (Dobbs) Johnson in Barnsdall, Oklahoma. CHARLES JOLLIFF Charles "Henry" Jolliff died Wednesday, November 17, 2004 in Morris, Oklahoma at the age of 86 years. He was born May 2, 1918 to George Clayton and Mary (Dixon) Jolliff. Henry was raised on a farm, he left at age 16 to go to California, got a job working pipeline and later from 1938 to 1950 he worked pipeline from Canada to Alaska. Then, Henry went to work as a deputy for Bill Van Zandt for 14 years. After retiring from Muskogee County Sheriff's Office, he worked as a security guard at Commercial Bank and Fort Gibson Schools. For the next 13 years he worked at Fort Gibson Bank. His schooling included, Tick Ridge Elementary School in Cookson, OK and Tahlequah High School. Henry was a member of Fort Gibson Church of Christ and of Fort Gibson Masonic Lodge Alpha Lodge #12. Henry married Francis D. Cookson May 11, 1938 in Qualls, OK. Francis preceded him in death August 2, 1999. Also preceding him in death was an infant daughter, Charlene; his parents; two sisters, Hester Scott and Clatie Ballew and four brothers, Dandy, Evin, Luther and William Jolliff. Survivors include his nephew, Doug Jolliff and wife Doris of Morris, whom he was living with, and many nieces and nephews. She was a homemaker and a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Mt. Pleasant, Arkansas. She was a seamstress and a master quilt maker. Many lives were enhanced because of her gift of quilting. She was a devoted member of Grave Creek Indian Baptist Church for over sixty years. She served as Sunday School teacher, Sunday School superintendent, church treasurer and WM U Women Society and various other capacities. She met and married John Melton in 1930 and to this union 13 children were born. Two children preceded her death. Survivors include eleven children, Barbara J. Ivaline Melton Ivaline (Tootie) Melton, 89, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004 in Tulsa. She was born September 27, 1915 in Rural Okmulgee County to William Scott and Harriett Barnett. She was the fifth of six children. She attended school at Grayson #2 School in Rural Okmulgee County. She was a seamstress and a master quilt maker. Many lives were enhanced because of her gift of quilting. She was a devoted member of Grave Creek Indian Baptist Church for over sixty years. She served as Sunday School teacher, Sunday School superintendent, church treasurer and WM U Women Society and various other capacities. She met and married John Melton in 1930 and to this union 13 children were born. Two children preceded her death. Survivors include eleven children, Barbara J. She was born Nov. 4, 1928 to Arthur and Edith Hamner at Oklahoma City. She graduated from Putnam City High School in 1945 as class salutatorian. She married J. O. Scott in 1949. She achieved her Master of Fine Arts Degree from O.U. in 1950 and received her Masters Degree in psychology from Tulsa University in 1977. Joyce worked as a counselor at Tulsa Psychiatric Center (Parkside). She married Neal Pfleeger in 1981. She also worked at the City of Faith as a financial aid counselor then worked 11 years at Life Improvement Center as a counselor and also as a coordinator of the Tulsa office. After semi-retirement, Joyce worked for the OSU Extension Service of Okmulgee County as a Nutrition Education Counselor. She retired in February of 2002. Survivors include four children, Kathe (Scott) O'Rourke of Levittown, N. Y., Mark Scott of St. Louis, Mo., Lianne (Scott) Bates of Morris, Okla., and Gary Scott of Midland, Texas and12 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Neal and one child, John Scott. A family memorial was held Saturday, Nov. 13th at Trinity Baptist Church in Morris. He was born November 13, l943 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Charlie Alfonso and Johnie Lee (McIntire) Rogers. Thomas was a graduate of Okmulgee High School, a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was discharged in 1966. He then went to work for ASG lndustries and later for Rockwell International and then Boeing Aircraft, where he was employed until his death. RICHARD BEASLEY-RUTLAND Richard Theordore Beasley-Rutland, 56, a resident of Henryetta, passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2004 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born on September 30, 1948 in Henryetta, Oklahoma to Pete and Ruby Beasley. He was adopted by Oscar and Sylvia Rutland in his early teens. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Shelly; father, Oscar Rutland; and his biological parents, Pete and Ruby Beasley. DOROTHY SCHILLER Dorothy Jean Schiller, 86, a longtime resident of Okmulgee, died on Thursday, November 11, 2004 in Okmulgee. She was born Wednesday, May 29, 1918 in Depew, Oklahoma to Earl and Olive A. (Rowdon) Schiller. She was married to Rush C. Allen on August 17, 1949 in Wichita Falls, Texas. He preceded her in death as did one son, Dee Waid in 1974. Mrs. Schiller was a member of the First Christian Church of Okmulgee and was a volunteer at the Okmulgee Memorial Hospital for over ten years. She worked as a volunteer for the American Red Cross and was active in past years in the Rebekah Lodge and the Democrat Party of Okmulgee County. She attended O.S.U. Okmulgee and made her life's work as a social worker for the Oklahoma Department of Human Services. Survivors include one son Richard C. Allen of Bismarck, Arkansas; two daughters: Darla L'Allier of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Mae Ford of Lincoln, Arkansas; six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one great-great- granddaughter. No services are being planned at this time, however, the family wishes memorials to be made to the Friends of the Okmulgee Public Library 1201 West 7th St. in Okmulgee. B. J. WILSON B.J Wilson,73, of Henryetta died on November 22, 2004 in Henryetta. He was born August 6, 1931 in Henryetta, Ok to Joe Ed and Irene (Hendrix) Wilson. He worked as a glasscutter before retiring. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was an active member and past Adjutant with the American Legion Post 85. Richard Stanley McCurdy Jr., 64, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, died on Saturday evening, November 27, 2004 in a Tulsa Hospital. He was born in Okmulgee on October 13, 1940, the son of Richard S. and Florine (Cross) McCurdy Sr. Richard attended Okmulgee Public Schools, graduating from Dunbar High School with the Class of l958. He continued his education at Tuskegee Institute, where he became a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., in 1960. He graduated from the School of Veterinary Medicine in l966. He remained at Tuskegee Institute and taught Applied Anatomy there. He married Joyce Biglow on September 15, 1964. Dr. McCurdy began his career with the United States Department of Agriculture in 1967 at Dallas, Texas, where he excelled for 36 years, until his retirement in 2002. Richard was a faithful member of the Vernon African Methodist Episcopal Church in Tulsa. His Christian efforts were evident through the church activities he was involved in, as well as mentoring others he came in contact with.
