Cocchia, Emma
Emma Cocchia of New Windsor, a former seamstress and longtime area resident,
entered into rest Saturday April 23, 2005, at home. She was 92.

Daughter of the late Nichola and Marie Conti Rostanzo, she was born April 8,
1913 in Acri, Italy. She was married to the late Joseph A. Cocchia, who
predeceased her in 2001.

Emma dedicated her life and was a faithful parishioner of Sacred Heart Church,
where she was named Woman of the Year by the Holy Name Society. She was a
member of the Rosary Society and a member of Catholic Daughters of the
Americas, Court Patricia #195, and Sacred Heart League, was a Bingo Organizer,
Italian Festival Zepoli Organizer, and aided with numerous other community
functions.

Emma was recently honored by Cardinal Egan at St. Patrick's Cathedral on Palm
Sunday for her dedication and artistic service for providing detailed palm
crosses that adorn the churches throughout the archdiocese.

Her family will remember her as a pillar of their family, who always put
others before herself. She loved everyone in her family as everyone in her
family loved her. We will all miss her, but know she is with God and her
family. She will never be forgotten.

Survivors include her sons, Salvatore Cocchia and his wife, Salvatrice, and
Nicholas Cocchia and his wife, Beverly, all of New Windsor; her brother,
Anthony Rostanzo of Indiana; her sister, Edith Rostanzo of Newburgh; three
grandchildren: Joanne Longo of New Windsor, Nicholas Cocchia, Jr. of Texas,
and Karen Stafford of Hopewell Junction; six great-grandchildren: Gina and Mia
Longo of New Windsor, Joseph and Samuel Cocchia of Texas, and Anthony and Mark
Stafford of Hopewell Junction; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Louis and Angelo
Rostanzo, and her grandson, Mark Cocchia.

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Monday, April 25 at the
Brooks-DiDonato Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. Catholic Daughters
will hold a prayer service at 3:00 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 26 in Sacred
Heart Church, Newburgh at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery,
New Windsor.

Cohen, Paulette "Perla"
Formerly of Brooklyn, N.Y.

Paulette "Perla" Cohen, a four and a half year resident of Middletown,
formerly of Brooklyn, N.Y., a homemaker and former seamstress, died Saturday
April 23, 2005 at Middletown Park Manor in Middletown, N.Y. She was 91.

The daughter Avreem Wajsman and Nacha Wajsman, she was born October 20, 1913
in Radom, Poland.

She was the widow of Leon Windman, then Alexander Cohen.

Perla was a Holocaust survivor. She was also a member and board member of the
Radomer Mutual Culture Center.

Survivors include one daughter, Jacqueline Schupper and husband, Martin, of
Middletown; two grandsons, Dr. Jeffrey Lee Schupper and wife, Miriam, of
Villanova, Pa., and Robert Lawrence Schupper and wife, AnnMarie, of Hershey,
Pa.; five great-grandchildren: Alexander, David, Daniel, Jonathan and Erin.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday April 26, 2005 in the
Beth-El Cemetery, Forest Ave., Westwood, N.J. Rabbi Joel Schwab will
officiate. Interment will follow in Beth-El Cemetery.

Crockett, Susan
Susan DeCicco Crockett, a housewife and eight year resident of the area, died
Saturday April 23, 2005 at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown, N.Y.

The daughter of Maddaline Circiello DeCicco and the late Frank DeCicco, she
was born November 16, 1954 in Naples, Italy. She was 50.

She is survived by her husband, Eugene Crockett Sr., at home; her mother,
Maddaline DeCicco of Blooming Grove; one son, Eugene Crockett Jr. of Port
Jefferson, N.Y.; daughters: Jennifer Mendola and husband, Nick, of Mountain
Lodge Park, N.Y., Laurie Crockett of Virginia Beach, Va., and Lisa Crockett of
Blooming Grove; one brother, Salvatore DeCicco and wife, Laura Jene of
Blooming Grove; two grandchildren, Nicole and Salvatore Mendola; and several
nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple
Ave., Monroe, N.Y. from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Tuesday April 26, 2005, with a
prayer service at 8:00 PM in the funeral home.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 26 Still Rd., Monroe, N.Y.
on Wednesday, April 27 at 10:00 AM. Cremation will be at Cedar Hill Crematory,
Middle Hope, N.Y.

Fitzpatrick, Julia I.
Formerly of Newburgh, N.Y.

Julia I. Fitzpatrick, 83, of Scranton, Pa., and a former resident of Newburgh,
died Thursday evening in Mercy Hospice, Scranton, Pa., following an illness.

She was the widow of Francis L. Fitzpatrick, who died April 16, 1994.

Born in Connelly, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late William H. and Susan
Wolfe Mencel, and was a former member of St. Joseph's Church in New Windsor,
and its Rosary Society.

She graduated at the age of 16 from Kingston High School in Kingston, and
prior to her retirement was employed as an insurance adjuster for Travelers
Insurance, Newburgh, N.Y.

She was a devoted wife of 44 years to her husband, and a loving mother,
grandmother, sister and friend, who enjoyed traveling with her husband,
especially her trips to Europe and Hawaii, and the trips with the New Windsor
Couples Group. She will be sadly missed by her loving family and friends.

Surviving are one daughter, Elaine Donly and her husband Jim, Scranton, Pa.;
two grandchildren, Randall Price of Moscow and Rachael Price of Scranton, Pa.;
two step-grandchildren, Jamie and Sean Donly of Dunmore, Pa.; one sister,
Gladys Kinane of Albany, N.Y.; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Rodney and Kenneth Mencel.

The funeral will be Tuesday with Mass at 10:30 AM in St. Joseph's Church, the
corner of Rt. 9W and Union Ave., New Windsor, with interment at Calvary
Cemetery, New Windsor.

Friends may call Monday evening from 6-8 PM at the Thomas J. Golden Funeral
Home, 2004 Delaware St., Dunmore, Pa.

A Blessing Service will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 8:00 PM
by the Rev. Ann Marie Acacio, Pastor of the Unity Church, Wilkes-Barre, Pa.

Husson, Eugene E.
Eugene E. Husson, 77, of Shohola, Pa., died Friday April 22, 2005 at Bon
Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis, N.Y. He was a retired school bus
contractor.

Mr. Husson was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Port Jervis B.P.O.E.
Lodge #645.

The son of Leon J. and Lillian (Loesch) Husson, he was born in Shohola
Township, Pa. on December 3, 1927. He was married to Carol M. (Goehring)
Husson.

Survivors include his wife, Carol; one son, Gary Husson of Hawley, Pa.; two
daughters, Gail Husson of San Leandro, Calif., and Linda Husson of Shohola,
Pa.; one brother, Leon F. Husson of Dingman's Ferry, Pa.; one sister, Lillian
Curran of Bloomfield, N.J.; and two grandchildren, Aaron and Rebecca.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday April 26, 2005 at 11:00 AM in the
Stroyan Funeral Home, 405 W. Harford St., Milford, Pa., with the Rev. David
Repenning officiating.

Friends may call at Stroyan Funeral Home from 10-11 AM on Tuesday, April 26,
2005.

Interment services will take place at the convenience of the family in the
Husson Cemetery, Shohola Township.

Melvin Sr., Cornelius Jeffrey
Cornelius Jeffrey Melvin Sr., of Newburgh, died Wednesday April 20, 2005 at
St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh Campus, Newburgh, NY. He was 39.

The son of Lola Owens Melvin McDoe and the late CJ Melvin, he was born October
24, 1965 in Newburgh.

He worked maintenance at Newburgh Jewish Community Center in Newburgh; was a
member of Mt. Carmel Church of Christ Disciples of Christ; and was also a
member of the NAACP.

Survivors include his wife, June Dorsey; loving mother, Lola Owens Melvin
McDoe; two sons, Cornelius Jeffrey Melvin Jr. and Christopher James Melvin;
one godson, Joseph Sedrick; two daughters, Cecilia Jasmine Melvin and Corina
Jade Melvin; and one goddaughter, Katia Peters, all of Newburgh; three
brothers, Robert Grable, of Newburgh, Keith Robinson of Charlotte, N.C. and
Rodney Melvin of Fayetteville, N.C.; one sister, Leticia Melvin McCombs and
husband, Fernell, of Maybrook; one grandchild, Cyncere Melvin; and several
aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Castello Melvin, and maternal
grandparents, Henry W. Owens and Corina Owens.

Visitation will be held Tuesday April 26, 2005 from 4-7 PM at Mt. Carmel
Church of Christ Disciples of Christ, 1528 Rt. 300, Newburgh, N.Y. Services
will begin at 7:00 PM with the Elder Thermond Herring officiating.

Interment will be held Wednesday, April 27 at 9:00 AM at Cedar Hill Cemetery,
Middle Hope, N.Y.

Parks, Ada
Ada Parks of Cuddebackville, a homemaker and longtime resident of the area,
died Saturday April 23, 2005 at Bon Secours Hospital in Port Jervis, N.Y. She
was 81.

The daughter of Nicholas and Elizabeth Feringa, she was born April 29, 1923 in
Holland.

Mrs. Parks was a former member of the Board of Directors of AHRC.

Survivors include her husband, Clifford Parks, at home; and her children:
Brenda McNamara of Rockland County, N.Y., Wayne Parks of Florida, N.Y., and
Dawn Parks of Cuddebackville, N.Y. She is also survived by her sister, Mary
Glorie of Warwick; her brother, Yelta Feringa of Greene County, N.Y.; and her
grandchildren: Donna, Joy, Shawn and Scott; as well as several nieces and
nephews.

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Tuesday April 26, 2005 at the
Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home, Inc., 72 West Main St.,
Middletown, N.Y.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 27 in the
funeral home. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery in Middletown, N.Y.

Randon, Gloria O.
Gloria O. Randon of Campbell Hall, formerly of Bergen County, died April 23,
2005 at Arden Hill Hospital. She was 83.

She was born September 29, 1921, in Bronx, N.Y., daughter to the late Carl and
Clarise DeCosta Oettinger.

Gloria was a graduate of St. Vincent's School of Nursing, and was a Registered
Nurse, 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army during World War II. She was stationed
in the Mediterranean. During the war she married Louis R. Randon on March 5,
1944. After returning home, Gloria was a nurse at East Stroudsburg Hospital,
and from 1954-1981, was a head nurse for the Dumont School District in Dumont,
N.J.

Gloria is mentioned in the Library of Congress in World War II videos.

Survivors include her loving children, Janet Heidemann of Campbell Hall, and
Jacqueline Seugling of Little Falls, N.J.; dear brother, James Oettinger of
Lakehurst, N.J.; cherished grandchildren: Jennifer Heidemann, Kurt and his
wife, Jennifer Heidemann, Gregory and his wife, Megan Heidemann, Edward M.
Seugling M.D., and Carolyn Seugling.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday April 26, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at David
T. Ferguson Funeral Home, 20 North St., Washingtonville, N.Y. A Mass of
Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 27 at 10:00 AM in St.
Mary's R.C. Church in Washingtonville, with interment to follow at Brigadier

Seeley, Steven Joseph
Formerly of Pine Bush and Wallkill, N.Y.

Steven Joseph Seeley, a horse trainer and resident of Troy, N.Y., formerly of
Pine Bush and Wallkill, died Sunday April 24, 2005 at the Calvary Hospital in
Bronx, N.Y. He was 51.

The son of Julia Kells Seeley and the late Joseph Seeley, he was born August
31, 1953 in Portchester, N.Y.

He is survived by his mother, Julia Seeley of Pine Bush; one son, Matthew
Seeley of Milford, Pa.; one daughter, Rebekah Seeley of Troy, N.Y.; one
brother, Edward Seeley and his wife, Margo, of Walden; four sisters: Donna
Townsend and her husband, Mike, of Bloomingburg, N.Y., Julee Hodges and her
husband, Dave, of Greenwood Lake, N.Y., Geri Goldberg and her husband,
Ricardo, of Harrison, N.Y., and Lelia Seeley of Besta, Md.; and aunts, uncles,
cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Sarah Seeley.

Private graveside services will be held in the Bloomingburg Cemetery.

Slater, Florence
Florence Slater of New Windsor, died peacefully on April 23, 2005. She was 90.

She was born May 26, 1914 in Cliffside Park, N.J. to the late Anton and
Margaret Soukup Emr.

Florence was a graduate of Columbia School of Nursing and was a retired
nursing supervisor for Cornwall Hospital.

She was the widow of Frederick Slater, who died in 1972.

Survivors include her loving son, Robert of New Windsor; dear sister, Margaret
Stevens of Connecticut; and dear brother, George Emr of Florida.

The family will be present to receive friends on Tuesday April 26, 2005 from
10:00 AM to 12:00 noon at Coloni Funeral Home, 3001 Route 9W, New Windsor,
N.Y.

Formerly of Kerhonkson, N.Y.

Marion T. Smith of Rhinebeck, formerly of Kerhonkson, N.Y., died Friday April
22, 2005. She was 57.

Ms. Smith was born on November 11, 1947 in St. Albans, Vt., the daughter of
the late Herbert and Amelia (Longway) Smith.

Marion had worked for the Schrade Knife Factory in Ellenville, N.Y.

She is survived by her brothers: Louis Smith of Brooklyn, N.Y., Thomas Smith
of Brooklyn, N.Y., Timothy Smith of Staten Island, N.Y., and Robert Smith of
Brooklyn, N.Y.; her sisters: Patsy Compitello of Amenia, N.Y., Beatrice McCann
of Rotonda West, Fla., Joan Compitello of Elk Grove, Ill., Theresa Negrin of
Elk Grove, Ill., Carmella McCormack of Brooklyn, N.Y., Kathleen Bristow of
Rolling Meadows, Ill., and Phyllis Smith-Cabrera of Bayville, N.J.; and many
loving nieces and nephews.

Marion's brothers, Ronald and William Corbett, predeceased her.

Visiting will be held Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at H.B. Humiston Funeral
Home, 30 Forty Second St., Kerhonkson, N.Y.

Van Dam, Florence Masker
Florence Masker Van Dam, a homemaker and resident of Campbell Hall, died
Wednesday April 20, 2005, at Orange County Residential Health Care Facility in
Goshen, N.Y. She was 93.

The daughter of Wisner E. Masker and Estella Winters Masker, she was born
January 11, 1912 in Amity, N.Y.

Florence was the widow of Enno Van Dam, Sr., and was predeceased by her
brothers: Milton, Wisner and Joseph Masker; and one sister, Almeda Hutt.

She is survived by her son, Enno Van Dam, Jr. and wife, Shirley, of Campbell
Hall; granddaughters: Darlene Van Dam Burch and husband, William, of
Middletown, Sheila Dzierzek and husband, Michael, of Campbell Hall, and Andrea
Van Dam Sica and husband, Richard, of Ridgefield, Conn.; great-grandchildren:
Ryan and Brennan Dzierzek, Cory Schreiner, Nicholas Burch, Isabella Sica, and
Alexander Sica.

There will be no visitation. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM on
Wednesday April 27, 2005 at Donovan Funeral Home, 82 South Church St., Goshen,
N.Y., with Pastor David Kingsley officiating.

Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
