October 5, 2005 Deborah Foley Anderson, 60, of 3 Waterford Lane, Auburn, died
October 5 at Cleveland Clinic surrounded by her loving family. A communicant
of St. Alphonsus Church, she was a graduate of Mr. Caramel High School (Class
of '64) and was an LPN. She had been employed in the office of Dr. Robert
Lubanski and later East Hill Medical. She enjoyed boating and tennis. She was
the daughter of the late Francis and Ethel McKay Foley. Surviving are her
husband, Paul of Auburn; son, Paul of Atlanta, GA; daughter, Kimberly/Derek
Dunn of Madison, CT; brother, Edward/Rose, Auburn; sister, Marilyn/Robert Polo
of NC; three grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ann Foley of Auburn. She was
predeceased by a brother, Ronnie Foley. Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 11,
2005, St. Alphonsus Church. Burial St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling Hours: 2 to 4
and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in Cheche Funeral Home. Deborah's love for boating,
tennis or any other function paled when compared to her love and devotion for
her family. Her infectious smile can never be forgotten by anyone who was

tragically last year. He is survived by his beloved son, Brett (Sonya) Austin;

Baca, Charles S.           
October 7, 2005 Charles S. Baca, 87, of Camillus, died Friday at Community
General Hospital. He was born in Boswell, PA, and worked as a plumber for many
years before working at West Genesee School District, where he retired in
1985. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church, a member of Camillus Elks
Lodge and Camillus VFW Post #8664. He was an avid bowler and hunter. He was
predeceased by his son Dennis in 1991. Surviving is his wife of 65 years,
Annabelle (Todero); three sons: Charles D., Lawrence W. and Thomas D.; a
brother, Teddy; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Services

Blanchard, Irene M.             
October 6, 2005 Irene M. Blanchard, of Hannibal, died Thursday at A.L. Lee
Memorial Hospital in Fulton. Born in Fulton, she was a life resident of
Hannibal. Irene was employed for 41 years by Hannibal Central Schools and
recently volunteered as an attendance officer at Fairley Elementary School.
Irene was a lifelong member of Hannibal United Methodist Church and was
organist for 57 years. She also was an officer for United Methodist Women and
was a lay member of the Annual North Central New York Conference. Irene and
her husband were co-founders of the American Field Service in Hannibal. She
was a member of the Hannibal Historical Society, RSVP Program, Order of the
Eastern Star and one of the founders of the Hannibal Free Library. She was
also a member of the Hannibal Hens Club for over 50 years. Irene was
predeceased by her husband, Harold "Pete" Blanchard, in 1983; a grandson,
Leslie Ritton; and a great-grandson, Mason Ritton. Surviving: a daughter,
Shirley Ritton of Vancouver, WA; two sons, Carlton (Barbara) Blanchard of
Syracuse and Wendell (Barbara) Blanchard of Hannibal; seven grandchildren; two
stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Capra, Mansueto "Monty"         
October 7, 2005 Mansueto "Monty" Capra, 86, of Liverpool, died Friday at Van
Duyn Nursing Home. Born in New Jersey, and a career Marine, Monty moved to
Syracuse with his family in 1960. He joined the Marine Corps in 1940, was part
of the decoy invasion of Saipan and landed on Guam. He eventually stood duty
in Japan and later Thailand. He served during the Korean War and retired as a
master sergeant in 1963 as a member of the I&I staff for the 8th Tank
Battalion of Syracuse. He was a supply officer at Hancock Field and at
Instruments for Cardiac Research in Syracuse. For many years, he was an umpire
for the Liverpool Little League, an employee of the Liverpool Country Club and
a singing waiter on the Mid-Lakes Navigation Company Erie Canal Dinner Cruise.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Louise (Zerga) Capra; a sister, Margie
Fermeglia of Queens; daughters, Joan Capra and Celia Peterson; grandsons: Marc
(Robin), Lee (Jenny) and Carl (Adelle) Peterson; great-grandson, James Capra
Peterson; and many nieces, nephews and their children. Calling hours will be 3

Chapman Sr., Raymond C.         
September 22, 2005 Raymond C. Chapman Sr., Maj. USA Ret., 85, of Senatobia,
Mississippi, passed away Thursday, September 22. Maj. Chapman, a career pilot,
flew for the Army in the Philippines during WWII, where he met and married his
wife of 43 years, Lt. Evelyn M. Green, an Army Nurse. Qualified in fixed wing
and helicopters, he served at numerous overseas and stateside assignments
until his retirement in 1961 as the commander of the 121st Aviation Company.
Following retirement, he joined the Civil Service and continued flying for our
government until a medical retirement forced him to stop flying in 1975. He
then served as the mayor of Marbleton, Wyoming, in the late seventies, until
finally settling in Gulfport, FL. He was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn M.
Chapman, and a son, Robert J. Chapman. Survivors: loving father of Raymond C.
Chapman Jr., Sherry A Hollinger, Charles A. Chapman and Mark T. Chapman; a
sister, Alta Newkirk of Liverpool; 12 grandchildren; seven
great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside Services: 11
a.m. Friday, October 14, at Manlius Village Cemetery. In lieu of flowers,

O'Connell Chiasson October 8, 2005 Catherine Patricia "Pat" Chiasson, 67, of

doing family genealogy and taking walks in the woods with her family. She

always had a positive attitude, kind words, a great sense of humor and a big

October 5, 2005 Carole Ann Murphy Hall, 69, passed away Wednesday. Carole was
a native of Boston who moved to Fayetteville recently. She is survived by her
children, Elizabeth McKenzie, Linda Aiello, Catherine Crawford, Kristin Nelson
and Roland Hall Jr.; her sister, Diane Crawford; and 12 grandchildren.

Huston, Joyce C. Falcone-Thayer           
Huston October 7, 2005 Joyce C. Falcone-Thayer Huston died suddenly Friday at
her home. Born January 11, 1941, in Syracuse, New York, she was a longtime
resident of Liverpool. Joyce graduated from Eastwood High School, was a member
of the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce and a past member of the Syracuse
Jaycettes and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She retired, after 25 years, as the
service representative at Key Bank Liverpool office. After her retirement, she
became a crossing guard, where she enjoyed looking after the young children
attending Liverpool Elementary School. She also enjoyed her hobby of painting
furniture, which she called Nonnie's Whimsies. Surviving are three daughters,
Christine Falcone (Patrick) Taylor of North Syracuse, and Catherine Falcone
(Michael) Jones and Caryn Falcone (Robert) Galusha, both of Liverpool;
sisters, Nancy Huston Lentz of Liverpool and Donna Huston Rose of
Baldwinsville; brother, John W. Huston Jr. of St. Petersburg, FL; longtime
companion, Robert Schirato of Liverpool. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time
with her family, especially her grandchildren, Michael, Katie and Nicky Jones,
Ross and Jared Taylor, and Cassandra and Robert Galusha. She is also survived
by several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and -nephews. Calling hours will be 4

Johnson, Donald A.         
October 7, 2005 Donald A. "Don" Johnson, formerly of the Valley, Onondaga Hill
and The Nottingham, died Friday after two difficult years battling cancer. He
was born in Rochester, NY, and moved to Syracuse when he was 12. He attended
East- wood High School and graduated from East Syracuse High School. He was a
World War II veteran, serving with the 12th Armored Division. He was married
to two lovely ladies, Marion Coon, who died in 1985, and Kathleen Mullally,
who died in 2001. He graduated from Central City Business Institute and worked
at Lincoln Bank for several years, where he met Bernard Corbishley, who became
a lifelong friend of over 50 years. He later worked for Blue Cross and Blue
Shield, where he retired as a procedure analyst in 1987 after 33 years of
employment. Throughout his life Don was very active in volunteer work,
including Valley Little League in the late 1960s, where he was a team manager
for Arctic Island as well as secretary of the league for many years. He was
active in Meals on Wheels and volunteered at Community General Hospital and
Van Duyn Home and Hospital. He did the weekly read-out program for WCNY for
several years. Don enjoyed golfing and bowling and belonged to the Onondaga
Seniors Friday Morning Golf League at Orchard Vali and Tuesday bowling league
at Syracuse Bowling Center. Don was a communicant of St. James Church for over
40 years, where he was a lector and Eucharistic minister. Don will always be
remembered for his sense of humor, which carried him through adverse periods,
including the illnesses of his two wives as well as his own health problems.
He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law: Mary Ellen and Russ
Zackevich of Onondaga Hill, Elizabeth and Gregg Rush of Waterport, NY, and
Kathleen and Maynard Holt of Houston, Texas; son and daughter-in-law Paul and
Tricia Johnson of Flower Mound, Texas; eight grandchildren: Natalie Zackevich,
Ken and Bradley Rush, Owen, Eliza and Ethan Holt, and Kendall and Brooke
Johnson; a sister and her husband, Gloria and Chuck Rogers of Brewerton; a
brother-in-law, Ron Coon of Winterpark, FL; several nieces and nephews. In
addition, he is survived by Kate Mullally's children--Michael Mullally, Karen
Smythe, Patty Knopp, Kathy Mullally, Maureen Fekete--and their families.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. James Church. Burial will be in White

October 7, 2005 Mildred A. McElroy, 77, of Tully, passed away Friday at her
home. Born in Syracuse, she resided in Tully most of her life. She was a
retired secretary for the Onondaga County Executive's Office under John
Mulroy. An active member of the Republican Party, she was a member of the
Onondaga County Board of Elections. Surviving are her husband, John D.
McElroy; two sons, John D. Jr. and Frederick A., both of Tully; one daughter,
Jamie A. Foster of Groton; four grandchildren: Jessica and Beth Foster, Kerry

Phillips, Rose Cirando        
October 7, 2005 Rose Cirando Phillips, 77, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully
Friday at her home with her loving family by her side. She was predeceased by
a son, Stephen, in 1972. Rose was formerly employed by A.E. Nettleton Co. for
30 years and re-tired from Prince Mastercraft. Survived by her husband of 39
years, Stephen D. Phillips; two daughters, Jackie Eckstadt and Christine
Phillips of Syracuse; a son, John (Gladys) of Meridan; a stepson, Jeffrey
(Lynn) Phillips of Mattydale; grandchildren: John, Oliver, Audrey, Andrea,
Sarah, Jenna and Kenny; two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Brianna; two
sisters, Mary Cirando of Syracuse and Victoria Priolo of Phoenix, AZ; several
nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at
9:15 a.m. in Pirro & Sons Funeral Home and 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Pompei

Scott, Joan M.             
October 7, 2005 Joan M. Scott, 74, of Pulaski, went to be with the Lord on
October 7, 2005, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse. Born November 24, 1930,
the daughter of the late William and Thelma Jenks Butman, she graduated from
Fulton High School and the BOCES LPN course in Mexico. She was employed at
Oswego Hospital and at NOCHSI in Pulaski, where she was Dr. McChesney's nurse
for 13 years, until retiring due to health problems. She was a member of
Calvary Baptist Church in Pulaski. Survivors: her husband of 51 years, Frank
J. Scott; three sons: David (Julie) Scott of Mexico, Eric (MaryEllen) Scott of
Altmar and Steve (Lesa) Scott of Oswego; two daughters, Kathleen (David)
Gaffey of Williamstown and Anne Fontana of Pulaski; 12 grandchildren; six
great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; a sister, Nancy Butman of
Oswego; and a brother, William (Judith) Butman of King Ferry, NY. Funeral
services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church in Pulaski.

Sgroi, James A.            
October 6, 2005 James A. Sgroi, 86, of 312 W. Lewis Street, Canastota, died
Thursday at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on November 25,
1918, in Fish Creek, NY, the son of Sam and Josephine Nicotra Sgroi. Jim lived
in Canastota allhis life and was a 1937 graduate of Canastota High School. He
later attended Colby College in Maine, while serving in the Armed Forces. He
was a WW II veteran, serving overseas in the European Theatre as a second
lieutenant with the US Army Air Corps, where he was a navigator aboard B-24
Bombers. Jim was a self-employed produce farmer for most of his life, retiring
in 1980. He was a member of Casolwood Golf Course in Canastota, the E. Bart
Hanifin Council 473, Knights of Columbus of Oneida, American Legion Charles
Miller Post #140 of Canastota, VFW Memorial Post #600 of Canastota, the
Madison County Onion Growers Association, a director of the Cowaselon Creek
Watershed District and St. Agatha's Cemetery Committee. Jim was a member of
St. Agatha's Church in Canastota. He enjoyed bowling, golfing and playing
poker with his friends. Jim was an avid flower and vegetable gardener. He was
a man who truly loved God, family and country. Jim married Grace A. Scirocco
on October 12, 1947, in Little Falls, NY. He was predeceased by a brother,
Joseph Sgroi, and a sister, Catherine Rapasadi. Survivors: his wife, Grace;
one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Susan Sgroi of Jamesville; three
daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Anthony Pulverenti of Canastota, Janice and
Ralph Guida of Liverpool and Marie and Stephen Arena of Charlotte, NC; three
sisters, Carmella Sgroi of the Bronx, NY; Mary Matina and Margaret Cerio, both
of Canastota; one sister-in-law, Mary Sgroi of Canastota; seven grandchildren,
James Pulverenti, Elizabeth Pulverenti, Jeffrey Guida, Mark Guida, Michael
Arena, Sage Sgroi and Addison Sgroi; one great-granddaughter, Kayla Guida; as
well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services: A Mass of Christian
Burial will be held 9:30 a.m. Monday, October 10, 2005, at St. Agatha's
Church, Canastota, with Rev. Kevin J. Corcoran, pastor, officiating. The
family will greet friends at the church center immediately following the mass.

Skinner Sr., Ronald B.          
September 15, 2005 Ronald B. Skinner Sr., 59, formerly of Jordan, died
Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005, at his home in Pleasant Grove, CA. Born in Syracuse,
Ronnie lived in Jordan before moving to California in 1972. He was formerly
employed as a custodian and substitute bus driver by the Jordan-Elbridge
School District. Ronnie was a truck driver while living in California. His
father, Bud, died in 1983. Surviving are his children, Ronald B. Jr. and
Christine Skinner, both of CA, and Neil Skinner of Baldwinsville; his mother,
Virginia Skinner of Weedsport; a brother, Robert A. Skinner of Weedsport;
three grandchildren: Alexis, Beatrice and Ryan; a niece, Tammy Skinner of Port
Byron; and his special friend, Debbie Ferguson of Pleasant Grove. Graveside

Sutor McCorry, Patricia       
Sutor McCorry October 7, 2005 Patti, age 60, went to be with her Lord on
Friday after a courageous second battle with cancer. Patti worked at the
Cobblestone Inn, then the Liverpool School District Transportation Dept. as a
bus driver attendant working with special-needs children. Patti leaves behind
her companion, Gaston Yockell; sons: Jeffrey Sutor, wife, Denise; Jason Sutor,
wife, Tracy; granddaughter, Emma; brother, William Kane, wife, Betty; sister,
Ellen Paratore, husband, Roy; Gaston's children, Richard Yockell, wife,
Melanie; Jonguy Yockell; Michelle Yockell, fiance Tim McDonald; five nieces;
nine great-nieces and -nephews. The family will receive friends on Monday from
4 to 7 p.m., with a funeral service to follow at 7 p.m. at Maurer Funeral Home

October 7, 2005 Frederick E. Warner, 66, formerly of Camillus, passed away
Friday following a long illness. Born in Syracuse, he resided in Camillus over
30 years. He worked at Rollway Bearing for 25 years and at Carrier Corp. for
10 years. Fred served in the U.S. Navy. Surviving are his wife, Madeline
Venditte Warner; two daughters, Wenda (Dan) Warner Klaczko of Camillus and

Whipple, Lula M.           
October 7, 2005 Lula M. Whipple, 97, of Oneida, died Friday at the Oneida
Healthcare Center. Born in Oneida on April 11, 1908, she was the daughter of
Henry and Lucy Tracy Saamer. A lifelong resident of Oneida, Mrs. Whipple was
educated in Oneida schools. She married Ernest J. Whipple in St. Joseph's
Church on April 15, 1928. Mr. Whipple died on May 8, 1990. Mrs. Whipple was a
communicant of St. Joseph's Church. She was predeceased by her sister, Helena
Berical, and her two brothers, Charles and Earl Saamer. Surviving are two
daughters, Ann (Edward) Cook of Oneida and Susan (William) Steiner of
Fayetteville; three sons: John J. (Anne) Whipple and Richard E. (Rose)
Whipple, both of Oneida, and Charles E. (Mary) Whipple of Canastota; 13
grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral
Services: 9:30 a.m. Tuesday from Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main
St., Oneida, and 10 a.m. from St. Joseph's Church, where a funeral Mass will
be celebrated. Interment will be made in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Friends may
