Abajian, Rosalyn M.   
February 10, 2005 Rosalyn Maley Abajian, 85, passed away peacefully on
Thursday at Crouse Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was born
in Syracuse and graduated from North High School. She was a mother and a
homemaker. Shewas a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and a member of
Bellevue Country Club, where she was a member of the Eighteen Hole Women's
Golf League for over 30 years. She was a person who loved life. She was an
avid reader and bridge player. She loved to travel, garden and play golf. She
was devoted to her family, and especially doted on her grandchildren and great
grandchildren. She enjoyed her many friends. She was predeceased by her
parents, Angelina and Domenic Maley; and nine brothers and sisters, Michael
Maley, Josephine Monticello, Anna Iauco, Ruth Milazzo, Charles Maley, John
Maley, Lucien Maley, Frank Maley and Mary Matucci. She is survived by her
husband of 63 years, James Abajian; two children, Jeanne Lawler and Frank
(Eileen) Abajian; six grandchildren, Catherine Lawler Levin, Bernard J.
Lawler, Jr., Sean Michael Lawler, Jean-Claire Abajian, James F. Abajian and
Joseph Abajian; three great-grandchildren, Eleana Levin, Nathaniel Levin and
Connor Lawler. She is also survived by three sisters, Pat Baichi, Rita
Stanistreet and Genevieve Felice; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral
services will be Monday at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Burial
will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may attend calling hours at Whelan Bros.

Battilana, Richard F.   
February 10, 2005 Richard F. Battilana, 73, of Syracuse, passed away
peacefully Thursday at Crouse Hospital with his loving family by his side. He
was born in Canastota and was a life-resident of Syracuse. Richard retired
from Safe-Lite Glass Company and formerlywas employed by Bon Ton Auto Glass.
He was a graduate of Lemoyne College and St. Michael's College in Toronto,
Canada. Predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Jennie Battilana; and sister,
Barbara. Richard was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors: His wife of 47 years, Anna Marie Damiano Battilana; sons, Michael
(Elaine), Anthony and Richard Battilana; daughters, Barbara (Greg) Smith,
Janine (Benjamin) Ridley, Anna Marie (Al) Tripodi; 14 grandchildren; and two
great-grandchildren. Funeral services Monday 10:15 a.m. at FARONE & SON and 11
a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial in Assumption Cemetery. Calling hours
Sunday 2 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Beeler, Mary Elizabeth Kelley   
Kelley Beeler February 9, 2005 Mary Elizabeth Kelley Beeler (Mrs. Pebble Hill)
96, formerly of DeWitt, passed away on Wednesday, February 9, at Loretto
Fahey. Born in Syracuse she graduated from Most Holy Rosary High School and
Central City BusinessSchool. She dedicated 43 years of her life at Pebble Hill
School and then Manlius Pebble Hill School. She served as secretary under six
Headmasters, as well as Business Manager, and Typing Teacher. She retired in
1969 and came out of retirement in 1970 to become Dean of Women at the newly
merged Manlius Pebble Hill School. In 1997 Mrs. Beeler was inducted into the
National Women's Hall of Fame in Seneca Falls, NY. She was a communicant of
Holy Cross Church, DeWitt. She was past president of the Altar & Rosary
Society, also past president of the Pebble Hill Mother's Club. She is
predeceased by three sisters; two brothers; and her husband, Charles E. Beeler
in 1965. Surviving are a daughter, Mary Linda (Russell) Reals of Jamesville; a
son, Charles W. (Joan) of DeWitt; sister-in-law, Harriette Beeler Koberline of
Manlius; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and
nephews. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Cross Church, DeWitt.

Bosco, Betty (DeStefano)   
(DeStefano) Bosco February 10, 2005 Betty (DeStefano) Bosco, 91, of Solvay,
passed away Thursday at Community General Hospital. Born in Syracuse, she
lived in Solvay all her life. Betty was a 1932 graduate of Solvay High School
and worked several years at Pass & Seymour as an assembler, retiring in 1982.
She was a communicant of St. Cecilia's Church and a member of its Altar and
Rosary Society. She was predeceased by her husband Aniel Bosco in 1995.
Surviving are her daughter Virginia Kinsella of Solvay; four grandsons, Brian
Kinsella, of Solvay, Kevin (Ginny) Kinsella of Solvay, Chris (Lori) Kinsella
of Fairmount, and Daniel Kinsella of Solvay; three great-grandsons, Kyle, Eric
and Kevin Kinsella Jr.; several nieces and nephews. Services will be conducted
at 8:15 a.m. Monday in Bagozzi Twins Funeral Home and 9 a.m. in St. Cecilia's
Church, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Burial will be in Woodlawn
Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home, 2601

Evans, Vivian Irene   
February 10, 2005 Vivian Irene Evans, 84, of Phoenix, died Thursday at A. L.
Lee Memorial Hospital. She was born in Grampian, PA, and lived there 30 years
before moving to Jordan where she lived for 50 years before moving to Phoenix
seven years ago to live with her daughter, Patsy Sweeney. Vivian was a retired
employee of General Electric Corp. She was predeceased by a son, Jesse B.
Evans in 1957 and her husband, Henry B. Evans in 1999. Survivors: two
daughters, Patsy A. Sweeney of Phoenix and Linda I. Countryman of
Gloversville; a son, Ronald L. and wife Linda of Martville; a sister, Hazel
Davis of Baldwinsville; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Services: 4 p.m. Sunday at Falardeau Funeral Home, Inc., Baldwinsville. Spring

Finerson, Anne M.   
February 11, 2005 Anne M. Finerson, 84, of East Syracuse, died Friday at
Crouse Hospital. She was a lifelong resident of East Syracuse. Retired in 1982
as Register Nurse from St. Joseph's Hospital after 30 years. Army veteran of
WWII. Communicant of St. Matthew's Church East Syracuse. Member of the St.
Joseph's Hospital Nursing School Alumni Association. Former member of the
Arthur Butler Post 359 American Legion. She is predeceased by her husband,
Fred and son, Michael. Surviving are five sons, David (Jane) of Tucson, AZ,
John, Jim (Jacki), Daniel (Deb) all of East Syracuse and Jerry of Georgia; a
daughter, Janet (Rob) Gale of Tucson, AZ; daughter-in-law, Linda Finerson of
Chaumont, NY; 18 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Services

February 9, 2005 Leo W. Fisher, 85, of Syracuse, passed away Wednesday at
Veterans Hospital. He was born in Syracuse and was a life-resident of
Syracuse. Leo retired from Netti Beverage in 1985; he was a Veteran of WWII US
Army, Korean War and was a com-municant of St. Peter's Church. He enjoyed
playing hockey and fishing. Predeceased by his wife, Mary Fisher who died June
27, 1999. Survivors: His daughter, Mary Lee (Frank) Giocondo of Liverpool;
grandchildren, Kim Ostrander of N. Syracuse, John Giocondo of Liverpool, Frank
Giocondo of N. Syracuse, Leo (Kim) Giocondo of S. Carolina; 11

Hurst, Barbara Lanning   
February 9, 2005 Barbara Lanning Hurst, 94, of 4783 Norstar Blvd., Liverpool,
died Wednesday at home. She was born in Walloston, MA and resided in Liverpool
since 1916. She was a former kindergarten teacher in the Liverpool School
System and was amember of the Liverpool First United Methodist Church. She was
predeceased by her first husband, Elwyn "Ock" Lanning. Barbara is survived by
her husband of 19 years, Howard H. Hurst, Sr.; daughter, Jean Lanning (Paul)
Lewis from South Salem, NY; son, Stuart W. Lanning of Manvel, TX; two
grandchildren, Beth and Kristen Lewis; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral
services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday at the Maurer Funeral Home Moyers

February 9, 2005 Maria (Maya) M. Knoll, of Pittsford, NY, died February 9,
2005 at age 93. Born in Wemding, Germany April 19, 1911. American Citizen.
Sales associate for Edwards Department Store, Syracuse, NY prior to
retirement. She is survived by Wendel L. and Patricia M. (Millecan) Knoll (son
and daughter-in-law); a sister, Lisi in Germany; three grandchildren and
spouses, Wendel L. and Ann (D'Agostino) Knoll, Mary Margaret (Knoll) and Joey
Meeks, John Andrew and Tammy (Baker) Knoll; two grandchildren, Mary Margaret

Laneve, John   
February 11, 2005 John Laneve, 87, of Syracuse, died on Friday at University
Hospital. Mr. Laneve was born in Utica and served in the US Army during WWII.
He retired at the age of 80 as the owner of Laneve Brothers Construction, was
a member ofAmerican Legion Post 1276 in Eastwood and was a communicant of
Blessed Sacrament Church. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Angeline
Cafferelli Laneve; sons, Nick Laneve of Syracuse, John (Cheryl) Laneve of East
Longmeadow, MA, Anthony (Mary) of Syracuse; daughters, Annette (Frank)
Vercillo of Liverpool, Catherine (Vito) Burriesci of Syracuse, Maria (Michael)
Serafin of Syracuse; brother, Cosmo Laneve of Syracuse; sisters, Rose

Nesci, Maria (Greco)   
February 11, 2005 Maria Nesci, 70, of Liverpool, died Friday peacefully at her
home. Maria was born in Caulonia, Italy and resided in Liverpool for the past
43 years. She was a beloved wife and mother. She was a communicant of
Immaculate Heart of MaryChurch. She was predeceased by her son, Larry J. in
1994 and by her brother, Larry Greco in 2004. Survivors include her husband,
of 47 years, Joseph A.; her daughter, Catherine M. Nesci; her brothers and
sisters, Teresa, Lina, Dominick, Joseph and James all of Australia; and by her
seven bothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law of the Nesci Family that are
formerly of Ash Street in Syracuse and their spouses and families. Calling

Nicholson, Ruth F.   
February 9, 2005 Ruth F. Nicholson, 92, of Oswego, passed away Wednesday at
the Oswego Hospital. Ruth was born in New York City in 1913, the daughter of
the famed New York attorney William J. Fallon and Agnes Rafter Fallon. She
attended schools in New York City and was a graduate of The Convent School in
Syracuse. In 1934 she married Joseph L. Nicholson. They resided in Syracuse
and later in Fayetteville. Ruth was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church in
Eastwood and Immaculate Conception in Fayetteville, where she had been active
in both Rosary societies. Ruth was predeceased by her husband Joseph,
president of the Metropolitan Bank, in 1996. She is survived by one daughter,
Barbara (Richard) Romeo of Chappaqua, NY; four sons, Donald (Joan) Nicholson
of Fayetteville, Robert (Jean) Nicholson of Oswego, Joseph (Sachiko) Nicholson
of San Francisco, California, and David Nicholson of North Carolina; a sister,
Barbara Fallon of Oswego; 20 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Funeral
services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. from St. Paul's Church. Burial will
be in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt. Friends may call on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m.
at the Dowdle Funeral Home.

Palmer, Keith F. "Keg"   
February 8, 2005 Lt. Keith "Keg" F. Palmer (USNR Ret.), 81, of Tampa, FL,
passed away February 8, 2005, at University Community Hospital-Carrolwood in
Tampa, FL. He is survived by his son, David of Virginia; daughters, Kathy
Haust of GA and Sally Nemeti of OK; sister, Nancy Boyko of Verona, NY; several
nieces and nephews; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. There will
be no calling hours and funeral arrangements are incomplete. Keith was a pilot
during WWII, serving in the Pacific. He worked for years as a service manager
in the Syracuse, NY, area. He lived for 25 years in the Tampa area working as
a security guard. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Instead of flowers,
phone calling cards may be sent to Walter Reed Hospital, Washington, D.C. for

February 8, 2005 Ralph Jerry Reeves Jr., 45, died Tuesday in Charlotte, NC.
Services will be held in the spring of 2005 in Kirkville, NY. Jerry was born
February 24, 1959, in Syracuse and was a graduate of Lafayette High School. He
moved to Charlotte in 1986.

Richman, Robert C.   
February 10, 2005 Robert C. Richman, 60, of Baldwinsville, died Thursday at
Crouse Hospital. He was born in Waukegan, IL, and lived in the Baldwinsville
area most of his life. Bob was an employee of the Trane Company for many
years. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the American Legion
Vernice Suttle Post #113 and VFW Post #153. He was predeceased by his parents,
Nancy Catherine and Charles Richman. Survivors: his wife of 37 years, the
former Dianne Troup; a son Robert C. "Rob" Richman II of Tampa, FL; an aunt,
Frances Norton of Fayetteville; several nieces and nephews. Services: 7 p.m.

February 9, 2005 Helen Sorkin, a life-resident of Syracuse, died Wednesday at
Crouse Hospital. Mrs. Sorkin was formerly employed by the Syracuse Jewish
Community Center. She was a member Temple Beth El and active in the
Sisterhood. Mrs. Sorkin was predeceased in 1990 by her husband, Harold Sorkin.
Survived by a son, Lionel; a daughter, Francine Cassorla; one grandson; two
great-grandchildren; and sisters, Phyllis Charney and Floreen Levi. Funeral
services will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at Birnbaum Funeral Chapel. Calling hour

Tarnacki, Gloria Staffiere   
February 7, 2005 Gloria Staffiere Tarnacki, 63, of Las Vegas, Nevada died on
February 7, 2005 at home. She retired after 31 years from Household
International. She was a loving wife who cared for others, laughed often and
was brave and courageous untilshe lost her battle with cancer. She was a 1959
graduate of St. Vincent dePaul High School. She is survived by her best friend
and husband Charles "Ju Ju" Tarnacki Jr.; a brother Geno (Joanne) Staffiere of
Veazie, Maine; sisters-in-law: Sr. Mary Virginita of Buffalo, Sue (Timothy)
Jennis of Liverpool, Mary Ann Cross of Liverpool, Michelle Smolik of Chicago;
