Lexington Clipper-Herald March 10, 2010
Robert Lee Shaw, 85, of Gibbon, formerly of Overton, died Sunday, March 7, 
2010, at Gibbon Good Samaritan Society in Gibbon. 

Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at Calvary 
Assembly of God Church in Lexington with Pastor Dean Pofahl officiating. 

Burial with Military Honors will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington. 

Visitation was Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in 
Lexington.

He was born Nov. 7, 1924, at Tabor, Iowa, to Everett C. Shaw, Sr. and Dorris 
J. Ellis.  He grew up in Tabor and Red Oak, Iowa.  Robert graduated from the 
American School of Chicago and attended Boyles College at Omaha for one year. 
  
Robert served his country in the United States Navy during WWII from January 
of 1942 to November of 1945.  He was united in marriage to Patricia R. Passage 
on Sept.12, 1951 at Lexington.  Patricia preceded him in death in July of 
1980.   

He worked as a ticket agent and telegrapher for Union Pacific Railroad for 
over 40 years, retiring in June of 1987.  
 
Robert was a member of the Calvary Assembly of God Church, VFW, AARP, Union 
Pacific Old Timer’s Club, Morse Telegraph Club, the Transportation and 
Communication International Union and the USN Armed Guard WWII Veterans. 

He enjoyed stamp collecting, fishing, mastering the worldwide web and spending 
time with family and friends.  He was a good listener, a very patient man, 
always generous and so proud of his kids and grandkids.  Robert was the glue 
that held the family together and family was the most important part of his 
life. 
 
Survivors include his children, son, William R. (Raquel) Shaw of Kearney; 
three daughters, Linda A. Shaw of Lexington, Barbara J. (Dan) McDonald of 
Overton, Lisa R. (Robert) Doudney of Gothenburg; one brother, Everett (Dotty) 
Shaw of Glenwood, Iowa; five grandchildren, Reggie Lee Shaw of Nashville, 
Tenn., Lindsey (Nik) Bringleson of Redondo Beach, Calif., Andrew Parkhurst of 
Lincoln, Bryan Lee Nelsen of Overton, Myranda Parkhurst of Cozad; two great-
grandchildren, Preston Lee Shaw of Nashville, Tenn., and Xaida Lee Momii of 
Lincoln.
 
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Patricia; two brothers, 
Ellis and Jerold and two sisters, Margaret and Doris.
