Wayne County, North Carolina

State of North Carolina; This Indenture made the fifteenth day of July, One 
Thousand Eight Hundred & Seven, between Robert Fortner Sr. of the County of 
Wayne & State of North Carolina Aforesaid of the one parte & Robert Fortner 
Jr. of the same place of the other parte. Witnessed That the so Robert Fortner 
Sr. for in the consideration of the natural love & affection which I have &
Bare unto my said son Robert Fortner Jr. have given granted conveyed & let open 
& by these presents doth give grant convey & let soon unto my said son Robert 
Fortner Jr. a certain tract of land lying & being in the County aforesaid. 
Beginning at a red oak near Carraway’s line running north 186 poles to a white 
oak then 172 poles to a pine then S. 186 poles to a stake. Then to the beginning
For two hundred acres be the same more or less Patented by James Miles the 10th 
day of November 1779 reference being them unto had will fully appear & So land 
conveyed by the said Miles to Owen Hines & by the said Owen Hines conveyed to 
the said Robert Fortner Sr. to hold to the Sd Robert Fortner Sr. his heirs & 
assigns forever & I the Sd Robert Fortner Sr. doth for myself my Heirs & assigns, 
Executors & Administrators covenante promise & with the Sd Robert Fortner Jr. 
his heirs & assigns to warrant & forever defend the aforesaid bargained premises 
& eary thence of the Rights title & interests of me my heirs or assigns aforesaid 
on any other person or persons what so ever 
In witness what I the So Robert Fortner hath here unto set my hand & seal on 
the day & year above
