Marvin Eugene Andrews

   Marvin Eugene Andrews was born Saturday, January 30, 1932, at 
Rolla, Missouri, a son of the late Lionel Clayborn Andrews and 
Nellie Martha Mincher.
   He entered eternal life Sunday, June 5, 2005, at the St. 
Anthony's Medical Center, St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of 73 
years, 4 months and 5 days.
   Marvin served his country in the United States Active Naval 
Reserve from 1950 to 1962.
   On August 20, 1955, in St. Louis, Missouri, Marvin was united in 
marriage to Doris Setter, daughter of Freida Setter and the late Ray 
Setter. They would have celebrated their 50th anniversary this 
August.
   Marvin worked for approximately 35 years for the Missouri Pacific 
and Union Pacific Railroads. He retired as manager of the Land 
Acquisition Department. After retirement he and Doris moved to Cuba, 
Missouri. They were avid supporters of the Meramec Music Theatre in 
Steelville. They enjoyed extensive travel with family and friends.
   In addition to his parents, and father-in-law, he was preceded in 
death by his stepfather, Alfred Dreysse.
   Among those who remain to mourn his passing are his devoted wife, 
Doris Andrews of the home in Cuba, Missouri; his mother-in-law, 
Freida Setter; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Charles Setter, 
Alvina Penning, all of Cuba, Missouri and Ray and Melba Setter of 
Portland, Oregon; an aunt, Edith Thompson of Viburnum, Missouri; 
nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
   Marvin Eugene Andrews lay in state 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, 
2005, at the Britton Bros. Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. 
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 9, 2005, in the 
Britton Chapel with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Musical selections 
were provided by Kevin and Kim Abney.
   Committal prayers and interment was in Steelville Cemetery, 
Steelville, Missouri. Serving as pallbearers were Monty Dale Luke, 
Jason Nipper, David Mincher, Rod Sherman, Lloyd Licklider, Jim 
Hoevelmann, Ike Lovan, and Bill Stephens.
   Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Britton Funeral Home, 
Steelville, Missouri.


Murvin Dunlap Baker

   Murvin Dunlap Baker of the Missouri Veterans Home of St. James, 
Missouri, formerly of Cook Station, Missouri, was born on Saturday, 
November 2, 1918 at Cook Station, Missouri to Clarence Baker and 
Martha Dunlap Baker. He passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2005 at the 
age of 86 years, 7 months and 5 days.
   Murvin married Blanche Bertha Kessler on December 26, 1938 in St. 
Charles County and to this union one daughter was born.
   He graduated from Steelville High School. He was offered an 
athletic scholarship from Coach Faurot at UMC and had the 
opportunity to play baseball for the St. Louis Browns professional 
baseball team, but declined. He served his country in the USMC in 
the South Pacific during WWII. Shortly after his return he bought 
half interest in the Cook Station Mercantile.
   The family moved to St. Louis in the early 50s where he began 
working for Tip-Top Bread Co. as a route salesman. When Tip-Top 
closed its doors, he went to work for Colonial Bakery and Bunny 
Bread Co. Upon retirement he and his wife returned to Cook Station 
where he drove the school bus for the Steelville School District 
until 1980.
   After his final retirement he and his wife would winter in the 
Rio Grande Valley in Texas. Murvin was a member of the Steelville 
Lebanon Lodge #77 AF & Am for 55 years, and the Canaan Cumberland 
Presbyterian Church in Cook Station.
   He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents; and his 
wife Blanche.
   Those who remain to mourn his passing are his daughter Phyllis 
McCoy of Rolla, Missouri; grandchildren Keith McCoy of Seattle, 
Washington, Martha Moreland and husband Harvey of Rolla, Missouri, 
Debbie Hickey and husband Dan of St. James, Missouri, Teresa 
Stillwell and husband Audie of O'Fallon, Missouri.
   Great grandchildren Beth Houf and husband Todd of Kingdom City, 
Missouri, Brittany Moreland of Honolulu, Hawaii, Beau Moreland and 
wife Abbie of Ft. Drumm, New York, Crystal Hickey of St. Joseph, 
Missouri, Ashley Hickey of St. James, Missouri, A.J. Stillwell and 
Alex Stillwell of O'Fallon, Missouri; great great grandson Paul Houf 
of Kingdom City, Missouri; cousins, and friends.
   Visitation was Wednesday, June 8, 2005 from 6-8 p.m. at Hutson 
Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with Masonic Service at 7 p.m.
   Funeral services were Thursday, June 9 at 3 p.m. at Hutson 
Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Delmar Hutson 
officiating. Musical selections were "How Great Thou Art" and 
"Amazing Grace" sung by Beth Houf.
   Burial at Taff Cemetery, Cook Station, Missouri with full 
military honors. Pallbearers were Harvey Moreland, Dan Hickey, Audie 
Stillwell, Todd Houf, Monte Kessler and Leon Stephens.
   All arrangements under the direction of Hutson Funeral Home, 
Steelville, Missouri.


Travis Birmingham

   Travis Birmingham, 74, of Owensville, Missouri passed away June 
8, 2005. He was born October 5, 1930 at Milledgeville, Tennessee the 
son of Travis, Sr. and Gladys (Sharp) Birmingham.
   On September 1, 1967 he was united in marriage to Bernadine Shore 
at St. John's UCC Church, Bem, Missouri.
   Mr. Birmingham was a member of St. John's UCC Church, Owensville 
Lions, Owensville VFW Post 6133, Masonic Lodge, Shriners Club, 
Disabled American Veterans, Member of Pairs & Spares, member of St. 
John's UCC Choir.
   He was preceded in death by his wife Bernadine, four sisters and 
four brothers.
   During his years of employment he was a mechanic for American 
Airlines.
   Those who remain to mourn his passing are a special friend, 
Bonnie King of Owensville; three brothers, Jacky Birmingham of 
Arnold, Mo., Buddy Birmingham of Glendale, Arizona, Terry Birmingham 
and wife Linda of Mt. Dora, Florida; three sisters, Inez Smith of 
Gideon, Mo., Juanita Morgan and husband Bobby of Bartlett, 
Tennessee, Geneva Richey of Kennett, Mo.
   Funeral services were held Saturday, June 11, 2005 at 2 p.m. at 
Gottenstroetter Funeral Home, Owensville with Rev. Todd Hackman 
officiating. Interment was in St. John's UCC Cemetery, Bem, Mo.


Juluis Jefferson Henslee

   Juluis Jefferson Henslee of Baytown, Texas was born Monday, 
September 1, 1930 in Viburnum, Missouri, a son of the late George 
Washington Henslee and Alice Payne Henslee.
   He departed this life on Saturday, May 28, 2005 at the Triumph 
Hospital, Channelview, Texas at the age of 74 years, 8 months and 27 
days.
   In addition to his parents, Juluis was preceded in death by one 
sister Hazel Prince King.
   Among those who remain to mourn his passing are his brother, 
Norman Henslee of Eureka, Missouri, a sister Maxine Sneed of St. 
Clair, Missouri; special cousins, Jimmy Lee and Junia May Turnbough 
of Davisville, Missouri; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives 
and friends.
   Committal prayers and inurnment will be Friday, June 24, 2005 at 
11 a.m. in the Upper Indian Creek Cemetery, Viburnum, Missouri.
   Local arrangements were entrusted to the care of Britton Bros. 
Funeral Home of Steelville, Missouri.


Darlene Ann Hornbeck

   Darlene Ann Hornbeck nee Walker of Steelville, Missouri was born 
on Wednesday, February 23, 1949 at St. Louis, Missouri to Eugene 
Lonnie Walker and Hazel Elsie Hicks Walker. She passed away on 
Monday, June 6, 2005 in her home at the age of 56 years, 3 months 
and 11 days.
   Darlene married Charles "Benny" Hornbeck on March 3, 1965 at 
Washington Park, Illinois and to this union three children were 
born.
   Darlene recently was employed as a nurses aid at the Missouri 
Veterans Home in St. James, Missouri. She happily spent her life 
serving others. She was a member of Center Point Baptist Church, 
Steelville, Missouri. She was a deeply spiritual woman who was 
mother to many.
   As a mother, she believed that she was the guardian of their 
souls. She had a wonderful fun-loving spirit that blessed any who 
were privileged to know her. Her most cherished pastime was her time 
spent with family and most of all spending time with her 
grandchildren.
   She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Lonnie 
Eugene Walker.

   Those who remain to mourn her passing are her husband Benny of 
the home; daughters Cheryl and husband Carl Graham of Bremen, Ohio, 
Carol Wood and husband Bill of Steelville, Missouri; son Charles 
Benny "Chad" Hornbeck II of Steelville, Missouri; sister Vickie 
Monroe and husband Danny of New Melle, Missouri; brother-in-law Ivan 
Doyle Hornbeck of East Alton, Illinois; grandchildren Lauren Wood of 
Steelville, Missouri, Chelsie, Clorissa and Chance Graham of Bremen, 
Ohio; special friend Amanda Gillette of Steelville, Missouri; 
nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
   Visitation was Thursday, June 9, 2005 from 5-8 p.m. at Hutson 
Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
   Funeral services were Friday, June 10, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Hutson 
Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Delmar Hutson 
officiating. Burial was at Liberty Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri 
with pallbearers Dustin Garrison, Darren Brinkley, Tony Kayringer, 
Jacob Ball, Jimmy Howard, Shane Haas and honorary pallbearers 
Chester Delcour and Marty Laston.
   All arrangements under the directon of Hutson Funeral Home, 
Steelville, Missouri.


Shannon McGuire

   Shannon Michelle McGuire, 19, of Waxahachie, Texas, died Tuesday, 
May 28, 2005 in an automobile accident.
   She was born November 21, 1985 to Ken and Constance (Smith) 
McGuire.
   Shannon was a 2003 Waxahachie High School graduate and was an 
outstanding student in the top five percent of her class. She was a 
Lieutenant for the Cherokee Charmers, a class officer, a member of 
the National Honor Society, Yearbook staff, Student Council Business 
Professionals of America and the high school tennis team.
   She recently completed her second year at the University of Texas 
at Austin where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority and the 
Community Council, as well as being a summer counselor at the 
Waxahacie.
   Surviving are her parents, Kent and Constance McGuire of 
Waxahachie; maternal grandparents, June and T.E. Smith of Streetman, 
Texas; paternal grandfather, Bernard James McGuire of Cuba, 
Missouri, formerly of Fort Branch. Brothers, Stephen Harris McGuire 
of Austin, Texas, Conor James McGuire of College Station, Texas; 
aunts and uncles and numerous cousins and other relatives.
   She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Virginia 
McGuire; her uncle, Michael Smith; and her great grandmother Oma 
Harris.
   Visitation was at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie, 
Texas.
   The celebration of her life was at the First Baptist Church with 
Dr. Leroy Fenton and Jerry Carter officiating.
   Burial was in the Waxahachie City Cemetery.


Richard Clayton Slovensky

   Richard C. Slovensky, "R. C." of Sacramento, Ca. departed this 
life at his home, after a short bout with cancer, on Saturday, May 
7, 2005. He was born at Ironton, Mo., August 24, 1949, the dear son 
of the late Rev. Ernest R. Slovensky and Marie F. Slovensky.
   He is survived by his wife, Amelia Hope Slovensky of the home and 
stepson James R. Watson and stepdaughter Kimberley H. Watson and one 
step granddaughter Kendra M. Cote; step-mother Arline F Slovensky of 
Mo.
   Brothers, Charles E. Slovensky and wife Mona of Georgia; John W. 
Slovensky and wife Sherrie of Mo; and sister Nancy Stewart and 
husband, Mike of Kansas; and foster sisters Ida Powers and Bernice 
Bauer.
   He is the nephew of Henry Slovensky of Steelville Missouri, and 
Mary Lou Woods of St. Clair, Missouri.
   After college and a term in the army as an engineer, he worked as 
a civil engineer for the U. S. Department of Transportation from 
1978 to 2005.
   Memorial service was held for him at Sacramento. On May 30, 2005, 
a memorial service was held at the Liberty Church at Steelville 
where he spent time as a child with his Slovensky grandparents. His 
family and friends will miss him deeply.
 
Madison Marie Voisey
   Madison Marie Voisey, infant daughter of Joseph Stanley Voisey 
and Milissa Smith Voisey, was born on June 10, 2005 at the Phelps 
County Regional Hospital, Rolla, Missouri and passed away on June 
10, 2005.
   Those who survive to mourn her passing from this life are her 
loving parents, Joseph and Milissa Voisey; sister Kylie Voisey; 
grandparents, Dale and Sheila Smith and Peggy Voisey; 
great-grandparents, Jetty and Stanley O'Neal and Dale and Connie 
Smith; and other relatives.
   Madison will always have a special place in all of our hearts.
   Madison Marie Voisey was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of 
Cuba, Missouri where funeral services were held on Sunday, June 12, 
2005 at 2 p.m. with Bob Coleman officiating.  Interment was in the 
Buffalo Cemetery, Sullivan, Missouri. 
   All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral 
Home of Cuba, Missouri.


Johnny Genoa Wallis

   Johnny Genoa Wallis (nee Altman) of Bloomsdale, Missouri was born 
Wednesday, June 30, 1915, in Arkansas, a daughter of the late Wesley 
Altman and Pauline Boone Altman.
   She departed this life Sunday, June 5, 2005 at the Jefferson 
Memorial Hospital, Festus, Missouri, at the age of 89 years, 11 
months and 5 days.
   She leaves to mourn her passing a daughter, Bethel "Beth" W. 
Strange of St. Louis, Missouri.
   Funeral services were held with the Rhodes Funeral Home in 
Augusta, Arkansas on June 8, 2005. Committal Prayers and interment 
was in the White Lake Cemetery, Fitizugh, Arkansas.
   Local arrangements were entrusted to the care of Britton Bros. 
Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
