Veronica C. Dolinski

Veronica C. Dolinski, 95, of Pinnebog, died Friday evening, May 25, 2007, at Huron 
Medical Center, Bad Axe.   She was born September 10, 1911 in Detroit to the late 
Martin and Stephaney (Huhla) Goryl.   On June 27, 1931, she was united in marriage to 
Walter J. Dolinski at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Detroit.   Mrs. Dolinski was a 
homemaker all her life and moved to Pinnebog in 1975, after her husband retired. He 
preceded her in death on February 2, 1990.   She was a member of St. Felix Catholic 
Church, Pinnebog, and a former member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, Detroit. 
Veronica enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles, and also loved to work in her 
garden.   Surviving are two children, Gloria (Stanley) Filar, of Washington Township and 
William (Ruth) Dolinski, of Sterling Heights; her son-in-law, John Pechette, of Pinnebog; 
13 grandchildren, Sue (Mark) Cook, Tom (Traci) Pechette, Joyce Pechette, Jon (Denise) 
Pechette, Greg (Mary Lynn) Filar, Cindi (Dan) Richard, Ken (Debbie) Filar, Joe (Celeste) 
Filar, Rick Filar, Linda Filar (Louis), Carol (Jim) Prescott, Bonnie Dolinski and Todd 
(Jennifer) Dolinski; and 28 great grandchildren.   Preceding her in death was her 
daughter, Mildred Pechette, and granddaughter, Janet Filar.   A Funeral Mass was 
conducted today at St. Felix Catholic Church. The Rev. Fr. Kenneth Yaroch, pastor, 
officiated with burial in the church cemetery.   Memorials may be directed to the church.

Wayne J. Hammerle

Wayne J. Hammerle, 58, of Ruth, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2007, at the Huron 
Medical Center in Bad Axe.   Wayne was born March 10, 1949 in Bad Axe to the late 
Walter and Martha (Helewski) Hammerle. He never married.   Wayne is survived by 
three brothers, Elwood Hammerle and his wife, Marlene, of Bad Axe, Kenneth 
Hammerle, of Ruth, and Gary Hammerle and his special friend, Wanda, of Caro; six 
sisters, Delores Talaski, of Bad Axe, Mildred O'Parka and her husband, Irvin, of Ruth, 
Jeanette Danielski and her husband, Leo, of Ubly, Rose Ann Bullock and her husband, 
Jerry, of Ohio, Elaine Varosi, of Deckerville, and Darlene Gornowicz and her husband, 
Rodney, of Ubly; and many nieces and nephews. Wayne was preceded in death by two 
brothers, Harold and Frank Hammerle; one sister, Ardis Wrubel; two brothers-in-law, 
Ray Talaski and Wally Kazyaka; a nephew, Dean Hammerle; and niece, Michelle Ewald.   
The Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2007, at Most Holy Trinity 
Catholic Church in Smith Corners. The Rev. Robert Shine will officiate. Burial will be in 
the church cemetery.   Visitation will be from 2:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Zinger-
Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday at the church. 
There will be a parish vigil service at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.   The 
family has requested memorials to the American Heart Association or the American 
Cancer Association. 


Peggy J. Karr

Peggy J. Karr, 77, of Port Hope, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2007, at St. Mary's 
Medical Center, Saginaw.   Born December 30, 1929 in Pontiac, she was the daughter of 
the late George and Ruby (Callahan) Richardson.   On December 30, 1946, Peggy and 
Gerald Karr were united in marriage in Waterford. He preceded her in death on March 5, 
2004.   Peggy enjoyed quilting and dancing.   She is survived by her children, Jeffery 
Karr and his wife, Julie, of Harriman, Tennessee, Jerry Karr and his wife, Peggy, of 
Ruby, Kitty Pataska and her husband, Dick, of Wilson, Wisconsin, Tom Karr, of River 
Falls, Wisconsin, and Tim Karr and his wife, Daryl, of Metamora; seven grandchildren 
and two great grandchildren; and a very special friend, Bill Emerick, of Port Hope. Also 
surviving are two sisters, Joyce (Ernest) Wise, of Holly, and Donna (Ernest) Rutherford, 
of Florida, and by three brothers, Charles (Georgia) Richardson, of Arizona, George 
(Sharon) Richardson, of Marion, and Kenneth (Elizabeth) Richardson, of Lake.   A 
funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2007, in the Ramsey Funeral 
Home, Harbor Beach, with the Rev. Theresa Cutler officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. 
on Thursday in Ottawa Park Cemetery, Dixie Road in Clarkston.   Visitation will be from 
3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on 
Wednesday at the funeral home. 


Richard "Dick" L. Kieft
Richard L. "Dick" Kieft, 79, of Bay Port, died Thursday, May 24, 2007, at the Sunrise 
Assisted Living Center in Grosse Pointe Woods following a six-year illness.   He was 
born April 12, 1928 in Ionia, son of the late Claude J. and Mildred (Lind) Kieft.   He was 
united in marriage to Dorothy E. Doerfner on July 1, 1950 in Saginaw. She preceded him 
in death on November 21, 2002.   Richard was a 1946 graduate from Arthur Hill High 
School in Saginaw. He received his mechanical engineering degree from the University 
of Michigan and his master's degree from Wayne State University.   He was employed as 
a superintendent for General Motors in Pontiac for many years before his retirement. He 
enjoyed boating and fishing and woodworking.   Surviving are two daughters, one son 
and their spouses, Julia H. Kieft, of Bay Port, Sharon E. and Cary Kaiser, of St. Clair 
Shores, Richard and Lin Kieft, of Mesa, Arizona; three grandchildren, Jeffrey and 
Veronica Jostock, Jeremy Blankenship, Gerald Joseph Kaiser; two great grandchildren, 
Savannah and Justin Jostock; and one sister, Mary Lou and Richard Hoek, of Grand 
Rapids; and several nieces and nephews.   He was preceded in death by one son, Brian 
Alan Kieft, in 2004.   A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, 
2007, at the Dinkel-Juengel Funeral Home in Sebewaing. The Rev. William Wright will 
officiate.   Cremation will follow at Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City with interment 
at a later date in the Old Bay Port Cemetery in Bay Port.   Visitation will be from 3 to 8 
p.m. on Friday and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral 
home in Sebewaing.   Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Society. 


Clarence H. Labeski

Clarence H. Labeski, 85, of Ubly, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2007, unexpectedly at 
his residence.   Clarence was born August 30, 1921 in Ubly to the late Frank and Susan 
(Gwisdalla) Labeski.   He married Frances M. Puvalowski on April 13, 2002 at St. Mary 
Catholic Church in Parisville. She preceded him in death on January 1, 2007.   Clarence 
was a graduate of the Sparling Country School. He served in the U.S. Army during World 
War II. He farmed, retiring in 1976. He then worked for the Ubly Community School as a 
custodian and later with a private contractor doing home modernization. He was a 
parishioner at St. Mary Catholic Church in Parisville and was a former Men's Club 
member.   Clarence is survived by his stepchildren, Noreen (Dave) Wazny, Clarence 
(Debbie) Puvalowski, Kenneth (Ruth Ann) Puvalowski, and all of their children. 
Clarence was preceded in death by four brothers and seven sisters.   A Funeral Mass will 
be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2007, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Parisville. 
The Rev. Jerzy Dobosz, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery with 
military honors by the Thumb Veterans Organizations.   Visitation will be from 2 to 8 
p.m. on Tuesday at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly and from 10 to 11 a.m. 
on Wednesday at the church. There will be a parish vigil service at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at 
the funeral home.   The family has requested memorials to the St. Mary's Church Carpet 
Fund. 


Louis R. Moore

Louis R. Moore, 83, of Bad Axe, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2007, at the Deckerville 
Community Hospital.   Louis was born October 17, 1923 in Palms to the late William R. 
and Lena (Behr) Moore.   He was married to Lucy (Holdwick) Priemer on February 27, 
1965 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Smith Corners by the Rev. Joseph Karaba.   
Louis was an eighth grade graduate of a country school in Palms. He was a parishioner at 
St. Patrick Catholic Church in Palms for over 40 years. He worked the family farm for a 
number of years before he went to work for General Motors in Saginaw for several years. 
He returned to Huron County in 1962. Louis started his own business in 1967, the Thumb 
Landscaping and Nursery, in Ubly. He purchased land in Bad Axe in 1973 to expand his 
business. Louis owned and operated the nursery for over 30 years, retiring because of ill 
health. He was a member of the Michigan Association of Nurserymen. Louis loved his 
toy tractor collection, visiting with his family and his friends at the Golden Arches and 
Burger King.   Louis is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lucy, of Bad Axe; one 
stepdaughter, Linda Allen and her husband, David, of Evart; one stepgrandson, Shaun 
Allen, of Ferndale; two sisters, Marie Bones, of St. Clair, and Kathleen Hunt, of Taylor; 
several nieces and nephews.   Louis was preceded in death by one brother, Justin Moore; 
three sisters, Mildred Reiche, Elise Bieth and Sally Cleland; one sister-in-law, Catherine 
Eback Moore; four brothers-in-law, William Reiche, Jack Bieth, Earl Cleland, and 
Russell Hunt. A Funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2007, at Sacred 
Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe. The Rev. James Carlson, pastor, will officiate. Burial 
will be in the St. John Cemetery in Ubly.   Visitation will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. today, 
from 2 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly, and 
from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday at the church. There will be a parish vigil service at 7 
p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. 


Eileen Mildred Rutter

Eileen Mildred (Valkoun) Rutter, 80, of Caseville, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2007, 
at home.   She was born in Caseville on September 16, 1926, the daughter of the late 
Anthony F. J. and Anna (Liska) Valkoun. She worked for more than 30 years in Pigeon 
as a dental assistant for Willard Haist, D.D.S., and then for more than 10 years as office 
manager at Oakwood Senior Housing in Caseville before retiring.   Eileen enjoyed 
knitting many beautiful clothing pieces for her family and friends. She enjoyed caring for 
her home, and loved visiting with friends and family. She was a former member of the 
Scheurer Hospital Auxiliary.   She is survived by two grandchildren, Lionel Rutter and 
David Rutter, both of Georgia; four great grandchildren, Alicia, Nicole, David, and 
Stephenie; three sisters, Bertha (Ken) McAulay, of Pigeon, Maxine L. Thompson, of 
Davison, and Dianne (John) Kohr, of Pigeon; and many nieces and nephews.   She was 
preceded in death by a son, David C. Rutter; two sisters, Helen Huber and Leada Addy; 
and a brother, James Valkoun.   A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. on 
Tuesday, May 29, 2007, at the Meyersieck-Bussema Funeral Home, Pigeon, with the 
Rev. John Britt officiating. Burial will be in Caseville Township Cemetery.   Memorials 
may be made to Scheurer Hospital.


Valeria C. Schultz

Valeria C. Schultz, 85, of Sebewaing, died Saturday morning, May 26, 2007, at Bay 
Medical Care Facility, Essexville.   She was born July 17, 1921 in Detroit to the late 
Farrand and Ethyl (Burroughs) Rowell.   On August 11, 1945, she was united in marriage 
to Robert F. Schultz in Muskogee, Oklahoma where Bob was stationed in the Army prior 
to going overseas.   They moved to Sebewaing in1965 where she was very active, with 
her husband, in the operation of the Schultz Funeral Home until retiring in 1984. Bob 
preceded her in death on November 26, 1999.   She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran 
Church, Sebewaing, and the Lutheran Women's Missionary League.   Surviving are two 
children, Paul (Joy) Schultz, of Sebewaing, and Carol Reige, of Essexville; three 
grandchildren, Stacie (Mike) Barringer, Bridget Reige, and Matthew Schultz; three great 
grandchildren, Jack, May, and Ben; her sister, Shirley (Jim) Kerr, of Fairhope, Alabama; 
and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. on 
Wednesday, May 30, 2007, at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton. Pastor Charles 
Kuhl will officiate with burial in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Sebewaing.   Visitation 
will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on

Amanda Maria Strauch

Amanda Maria Strauch, 100, of Sebewaing, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2007, at 
home.  She was born March 13, 1907 in Winsor Township to Peter and Minnie (Bock) 
Gerth. Shortly thereafter, she was brought into the Christian faith by baptism at St. Paul 
Lutheran Church in Linkville. On May 23, 1926, she was united in marriage to Wilbert 
Strauch. They resided near Kilmanagh, where she has remained after his death in 1969.   
St. John Lutheran Church, Kilmanagh, was an integral part of Amanda's life. The love of 
the Lord Jesus was evident in her daily living. In her earlier years, she sang in the choir at 
St. John Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary 
League, the Ladies Aid at St. John, of which she was president for several years, the 
Lutheran Child and Family Auxiliary, and the Widows Club.   She is survived by two 
daughters, Audrey Vollmer (David), of Pigeon, and Diane Smith (Ronald), of Rochester 
Hills; seven grandchildren, Candace (Joseph) Watrobka, Rebecca Scovill, Jenny Vollmer, 
Scott (Charla) Vollmer, the Rev. Brad (Judy) Smith, Corey (Alison) Smith, and Nathan 
Smith; eight great grandchildren, Alex, Cara, Greg, Noah, Timothy, Jacob, Ian and 
Lauren; one sibling, Loretta Wenzel (Clarance), of Saginaw; nieces and nephews; and 
dear friends from Amanda's neighborhood, especially Arnold and Esther Wissner, 
Suzanne Fritz, Carol Dronsella, and Jan Deering.   She was preceded in death by siblings, 
Wilda Gerth, Meda Zobel (Carl), Gertrude Gettel (Walter), Peter Gerth, and Elvira 
Lanning (William).   The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 
29, 2007, at St. John Lutheran Church in Kilmanagh, with the Rev. Jonathan Meyer, 
pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, Sebewaing.   Memorials may be 
made to the St. John Lutheran Church organ fund, or the charity of the donor's choice.   
Pallbearers for Mrs. Strauch will be Alex Lubeski, Brad Smith, Corey Smith, Nathan 
Smith, Scott Vollmer and Joseph Watrobka.   Meyersieck-Bussema Funeral Home, 
Pigeon, conducted the arrangements.

Marilyn F. Lassiter, 51, of Chandler Township, died Thursday, May 24, 2007, in her 
home of natural causes.   A funeral service will be conducted at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 
29, 2007, at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville.

Eugene F. Koroleski

Eugene F. Koroleski, 45, of Bad Axe, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2007, at Caro 
Regional Hospital.   He was born April 7, 1962 in Bad Axe to Virginia (Strozeski) and 
the late Felix Koroleski.   Eugene was a member at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and 
formerly worked at Thumb Industries in Bad Axe. His family was very important to him 
and he was friendly to all. He enjoyed camping, volunteer work, watching television, 
reading the newspaper, and listening to music. He will be greatly missed by family and 
friends.   He is survived by his mother, Virginia Koroleski, of Bad Axe; two brothers, 
Kenneth (Pamela) Koroleski and Richard (Loretta) Koroleski, all of Bad Axe; four 
sisters, Mary Ann (Donald) Hart, of Saginaw, Eileen (Gregory) Tucker, of Lufkon, 
Texas, Marjorie (Kyle) Burns, of Boulder, Colorado, and Cheryl (Corey) Hull, of Lyons; 
13 nieces and nephews; and six great nieces and nephews and special caregivers, Paula 
and Rick Bolton, of Cass City; and several aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by 
one sister, Kathy.   A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 1, 2007, 
at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe.  Fr. Jim Carlson will officiate.   Visitation 
will be from 2 to 9 p.m. on Thursday and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the 
MacAlpine "Mac" Chapel in Bad Axe. There will be a scripture service at 7 p.m. on 
Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.   
Memorials may be offered to Prader Willie Association, Sacred Heart Church, Thumb 
Industries, or the donor's choice. 


Frank P. Talarico

Frank P. Talarico, 82, of Port Huron Township, died Friday, May 25, 2007, in Port Huron 
Hospital after a long illness.   He was born April 28, 1925 in Flint and has lived here 
since 1966   Frank married Imogene A. Baur on June 26, 1948 in Flint.   He was a retired 
sales representative for McKesson Pharmaceuticals with 38 years of service. Frank was a 
veteran of WW II, serving with the Army Air Corps in the European Theatre. He was a 
member of B.P.O.E. No. 343, L.O.O.M. No. 158, Chas Hammond Post #8, American 
legion and Chas Schoor Post No. 7696, V.F.W. He was twice selected "Elk of the Year" 
in 1992 and 93.   Frank is survived by his wife, Imogene; his daughter, Toni Vesper, of 
Swartz Creek, his sons, Dan, of Melbourne, Florida, and Dennis, of Port Huron; 
grandsons, Tim (Andrea) Vesper, of Swartz Creek, and Ben (Sara Ledford) Vesper, of 
Bolingbrook, Il; great granddaughters, Sarah and Emma Vesper, both of Swartz Creek; 
brother, John (Dorothy) Talarico, of Flint; sisters-in-law, Pauline Talarico, of Beaverton, 
and Marjorie Parks, of Flint, and several nieces and nephews.   Frank was preceded in 
death by his parents; three brothers; two sisters; and his son-in-law, Don Vesper.   In 
accordance with Frank's wishes, there will be no viewing or services.   Cremation has 
taken place. A memorial luncheon will be conducted at a later date.   Because of family 
allergies, no flowers are desired but memorials may be made to Make a Wish Foundation, 
Community Service of Elk's Lodge No. 343 or the charity of the donor's choice. A special

Maxine Sump

Maxine (Sosnoski) Sump, 51, of Levering, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2007, 
following a motorcycle accident.   Maxine was born February 16, 1956 in Bad Axe, the 
daughter of the late Edwin and Edna (Wisneski) Sosnoski, of Kinde.   She married Steve 
Sump on March 23, 1991. Steve, her manager, co-worker, and best friend, worked and 
maintained the grounds at the True North Golf Club, Harbor Springs.   Max is survived 
by her husband, Steve; two children, John Fox and his wife, Stephanie, and daughter, 
Jennifer Fox, and her friend, Ramon; five grandchildren, Rebekah, Makaylah, Alyssah, 
Shalynn and Andrew; in-laws, Jim and Doris Sump, of Bad Axe; their dog, Buddy; one 
brother, Ken (Kate) Sosnoski, of Clinton Township; two sisters, Audrey (Jerry) 
Lawrence, of Kinde, and Joann (Dennis) Wrubel, of Filion; several nieces and nephews; 
step-mother, Vera Sosnoski; stepbrother, Don (Mary) McIntyre, both of Bad Axe; one 
brother-in-law, Eric (Judy) Sump, of Port Austin; and many friends, co-workers, and her 
"Up North honorary mother," Ida Lahti.   She was preceded in death by her parents, 
Edwin and Edna Sosnoski; one grandson, Anton, at birth; and one stepbrother, Joe 
McIntyre.   Max enjoyed being with her family, friends, children and grandchildren. She 
also enjoyed cooking, fishing, hunting, biking and camping with their friends. She also 
loved to dance and listen to Polka music. Max enjoyed life to the fullest. She always said 
she was lucky because she had two families, one in the Thumb and one Up North. She 
was a selfless and generous person, always ready to help anyone with a need. She will be 
missed by many.   Funeral arrangements were made by Nordman's Funeral Home in 
Cheboygan. A memorial service will be conducted at noon on Friday, June 1, 2007, at 
New Hope United Methodist Church in Levering.   Memorials can be made to the family 
discretion in lieu of flowers. 


Venice M. Finan

Venice M. Finan, 84, of Port Austin, died Friday, May 25, 2007, at the Huron County 
Medical Care Facility in Bad Axe.   She was born September 24, 1922, the daughter of 
the late Edwin and Lucy (Goretski) Mayes.   She married Philip Finan on June 15, 1946 
at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Port Austin. He preceded her in death on September 
28, 1984.   Venice was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, and honorary lifetime 
member of the Junior Pricilla Club, and a member of Friends of the Library. Venice 
loved to walk and spend time with her grandchildren.   She is survived by her children, 
Michael (Patty) Finan, of Port Austin, Mark (Lisa) Finan, of Mason, Joseph (Lynn) 
Finan, of Caseville, and Sally (Charles) Lapka, of Bad Axe; eight grandchildren, Melisa 
(Mike) Peterson, Michael J. Finan, Caitlin and Nicholas Finan, Brian Lather and his 
special friend, Julie, Kris (Theresa) Lather, Lisa (Chris) Fluegge, and Holly Lapka and 
her special friend, Michael; and seven great grandchildren, Jordan, Jeffrey and Jenna 
Peterson and Adam, Evan, Alaina and Jackson Fluegge. She is also survived by her 
brother, Raymond (Lynn) Mayes, of Port Austin; and her In-laws, Marcus Flannery, of 
Bad Axe, Jane Mayes, of Port Austin, Sally Mayes, of Mt. Pleasant, Tida Finan, of Port 
Austin, and Jean (Pete) Schmidt, of Port Austin.   Venice was preceded in death by a 
daughter, Mary Ann; three brothers, Harold, Edwin and Carl Mayes; her sister, Theresa 
Flannery; and her in-laws, Betty Mayes and Robert Finan.   A Funeral Mass was 
conducted on Tuesday, May 29, 2007, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Port Austin 
with burial in the church cemetery.   Knoblock Funeral Home in Kinde handled the 
arrangements.   Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice or the Port Austin

Eugene R. Cieslinski

Eugene R. Cieslinski, 73, of Caseville, died Wednesday evening, May 30, 2007, at his 
winter home in Port Charlotte, Florida while under hospice care.  He was born January 
18, 1934, in Bay City to the late Anthony and Theresa (Musialowski) Cieslinski. On June 
2, 1951, he was united in marriage to Joan D. Cichocki at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church, 
Bay City. Gene lived in the Bay City area and was employed as a maintenance supervisor 
with General Motors. In 1968, they moved to Caseville with their family. He then started 
Cieslinski & Sons Trucking in 1975 and retired from General Motors in 1979.Gene 
operated the trucking business until retiring in 1988. As a couple, they enjoyed traveling 
the country by motor home and in 1983, they started spending their winters in Florida. 
Joan passed away on November 23, 1990. Several years later, he met and married 
Barbara Ann (Musselman) Chiotti on July 18, 1992 in Bay Port. They continued traveling 
in the motor home he built. Gene spent a lot of his free time hunting, fishing and boating 
both here and in Florida. Surviving are his wife, Barbara; his children, Diane (Keith) 
Wiechert, of Caseville, Don (Ruth) Cieslinski, of Bad Axe, Linda Cieslinski, of 
Caseville, and Dale Cieslinski, of Saginaw; his grandchildren, Kim, James, Carrie, Kelly, 
Kalie, Nicki, Chris, and a great granddaughter, Emily. Also surviving five stepchildren, 
Marty (Margaret) Chiotti, of Bullhead City, Arizona, Randy (Beth) Chiotti, of San Diego, 
California, Ken (Lisa) Chiotti, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Rick Chiotti, of San Diego, 
California, and Julie Chiotti (Dave), of Owendale; stepgrandchildren, Alexandra, Randal, 
Rusty, and Dallas; two brothers, Ronald (Debbie) Cieslinski, of Fort Pierce, Florida, and 
Tom (Rose) Cieslinski, of Houghton Lake; his sister-in-law, Donna Hanson, of Bad Axe, 
and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his sister, Delores Sleeper 
and his brother, John Cieslinski. A funeral mass will be conducted 11:00 a.m. on  
Tuesday, June 5, 2007, at St. Roch Catholic Church, Caseville. Rev. Fr. Kenneth Yaroch, 
pastor, will officiate. Friends may call at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Caseville, from 
2 to 9 p.m. on Monday and after 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Memorials may be given to the 
Caseville Public Schools or the American Heart Association.


Esther M. Krohn

Esther M. Krohn, 87, of Lenexa, Kansas and formerly of the Caseville/Elkton area, died 
Wednesday, May 30, 2007, in Ashford Place Nursing Center in Overland Park, Kansas.   
She was born October 19, 1919 in Caseville to the late Otto and Anna (Nagy) Goske. She 
graduated from Bad Axe High School in 1936 and moved to Detroit right after high 
school to attend beauty school. On March 1, 1942, she was united in marriage to Glenn 
W. Krohn in Detroit. They lived in the Charlevoix area where they both owned and 
operated the Style Beauty Shop for over 32 years retiring in 1979. After retiring, they 
began spending their winters in Arizona and more recently, they moved to Missouri.  
Glenn passed away July 9, 2003. With her health failing, Esther moved near her nephew, 
Tom Gerds, in Lenexa, Kansas. Surviving are several nieces and nephews. A funeral 
service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 3, 2007, at the Champagne 
Funeral Chapel, Elkton. Rev. Daniel Stone, pastor of the Community Wesleyan Church, 
Elkton, will officiate with burial in Caseville Township Cemetery. Friends may call from 
11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Sunday.
