Will of Henry Lyon
Written November 2nd 1777 in Charles County, Maryland
Henry Lyon's Will May 19th 1778
Maryland Charles County - In the name of God amen I Henry Lyon of the
county and province aforesaid being but indifferently in health at present, but
of sound and perfect memory and calling to mind the dear family of life do make
and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is
I give my soul to the hands of almighty God that gave of and my constable body
to be buried in a Christian like manner by executors heretofore mankind -
Item; I give and bequeath unto my dearly beloved daughter Elizabeth one Negro
girl called Juda and have increased to her and her heirs forever -
Item; I give and bequeath unto my dearly beloved wife Anna Lyon all the land I
have in possession of his Lordships Manor Of Calverton lying and being in the
county afore with the Plantation utensils that is plows, hoe, harrows, horses,
hogs, show of cattle and Negroes Frank, Bess, Ben, Tony, Ann, Rachel, Fillis,
Moses, Luke, Abrin, Daniel to her during her natural life and afterwards it is
my desire that the whole Estate be divided between my eight children that is
Mary Moran, James Lyon, Elizabeth Canter, Henry Lyon, John Lyon, Joseph Lyon
Jane Davis, Zachariah Lyon -
Lastly it is my will and desire that Joseph Lyon and Zachariah Lyon be appointed
Executors to this my Last Will and Testament and also my desire further that my
two Executors have for the power to keep the said land by paying the value to
the other children, In Witness whom unto I have known have set my hand and seal
this second day of November one thousand seven hundred and seventy-seven -

Charles County Court Sct. - On the 19th day of May 1778 came Richard Estep
and Robert Gladding two of the subscribing witnesses to the afore going Last
Will and Testament of Henry Lyon late of Charles County deceased and made oath
on the Holy Evangels that they did see the Testator therein named sign and seal
the same Will and heard him publish and declare it to be his Last Will and
Testament that at the time of his so doing he was to best of their apprehensions
of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding and that they together with
Mary Davis severally subscribed their names as witnesses to the said Will in the
presence and at the request of the Testator and in the presence of each other.

This is to xxxxxx (?) that I have given up part of the Will and chose to
keep the Plantation and my share of everything else and the two Executors to
continue as was appointed by Will -
Anna Lyon
19th of May 1778 Richard Estep made oath that Anna Lyon signed the within
writings and that at the time she did the same she know the contents -
