Bernice, La. Feb. 27, 1915
Mr. J. D. Hendrix
Farmville, La.
Dear Dave,
Yours of 21st received yesterday and I hasten, with pleasure to reply and comply with your
just request, only a few of us in Co. E. are remaining –J.B. Hughes was buried here on the
18th of January, W. White, Robert Roberts, Alanza Greene, M.B. Phillip are all I can call
to mine as living, our War was only a skirmish compared with the European War.
Dave; come over to see your old Capt, I want to tell you how grand your looked while carrying
our Regiment Colors. Dr. Roberts lives at Ruston, Bill White, Cedarton or Unionville, I don’t
know where Phillips lives and he may be dead. Say, any service I can render to is yours, just
by the calling ---- a line of truth.
May the good Lord Keep you and all yours.
I am, yours truly
Ex “Capt. Wm R. Roberts.
