DeHart and Merline D. Scott. She was a retired co-owner of Gulf Breeze Seafood Company Inc., a member of the Ladies Altar Society and a past member of the Krewe of Hyacinthians. Her hobbies included needlework, crafting, crocheting, traveling and gardening. She especially loved to play Bingo and take an occasional trip to the casino. It was her unselfish and giving ways that made it easy for her to donate her time to church and its fairs. This held true for her family and friends as well. She was a loving and devoted wife of 55 years, a proud mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be forever missed by all that knew and loved her. She was a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Chauvin Funeral Home. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Rebecca Howington Curtis; one daughter, Lisa Curtis Sanders; three grandchildren, Mirykle Shelley Curtis, Ariella Rose Sanders and Alexianni Lei Sanders; one sister; and two brothers. He was preceded in death by his father, Allen Lamar Curtis; his mother, Rosie Vice Curtis; and one brother. Dave experienced ill health at an early age and at 14 years old he became a patient of St. Jude's Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. Until his death, he was the oldest surviving patient of that hospital. As his health improved, he became a salesman for Midland Rick Insurance of Louisiana and Mississippi. Besides his other occupational ventures, he was the previous owner of Carlea's Catfish Shack and Curly's Lounge. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and camper and a staunch LSU fan with a remarkable sense of humor. He enjoyed his life, which he shared with all who knew him. His character and faith were an inspiration to everyone. David was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. Lying about his age, he entered the Marine Corps at age 17 and was eventually sent to the Pacific Theatre late in the war. He went on to obtain his pilot's license through the GI bill and continued flying seaplanes for 52 more years. A pioneer in the offshore marine industry, he owned and operated several local businesses, including CCC Boats, Anti-Pollution Inc. and Triple "C" Marine Salvage, Inc. He was a member of the Board of Commissioners of the Morgan City Harbor and Terminal District from 1958 to 1972. Throughout his life, Charlie was always thinking about how to do something better, and he was rewarded with six U.S. patents. He was most proud of the fact that, although he did some very difficult jobs during his years in the marine salvage business, he "never once had a man spend the night in a hospital."
