RAE, MATTIE PARKER
A retired principal with East Baton Rouge Parish School Board, she died
Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, at Ollie Steele Burden Manor after a lengthy
battle with Alzheimer's. She was 91, a resident of Baton Rouge and a native
of Amite. Visiting at Welsh Funeral Home, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and after
11 a.m. Monday. Religious services at the funeral home at 12:30 p.m.
Monday, conducted by the Rev. Wilson A. "Bill" Holcombe. Interment in
Roselawn Memorial Park. Survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Bobbie Rae
and Richard Cox, Hammond; three granddaughters, Vivan Lynn Cox, San
Francisco, Catherine Cox and Michael Powers, Port Neches, Texas, and Marsha
Cox and Scott Pfeffer, St. Petersburg, Fla.; four great-grandsons and a
great-granddaughter. Preceded in death by parents, Fred C. and Lelia
Estelle Parker Sr.; two brothers, Fred C. Parker Jr. and John Davis Parker
Sr.; and two sisters, Juanita Parker Law and Minnie Parker Sessions.
Pallbearers will be Robert R. Parker, Whilden S. Parker, John D. Parker
Jr., J. Michael Parker, and great-grandsons, Juston Marshall, Brandon
Powers, Christopher Marshall and Richard Powers. Honorary pallbearers are
Judge John B. Parker, Robert F. Parker, Curt Miller and Edward Duprey. She
was a member of Istrouma Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and White
Shrine and Y.A.W.S. Church of the Way Presbyterian.
