James Alexander Smith passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2011.

Beloved father of Dodd Smith (Debra), Sharon Smith O'Meallie (Darryl) and 
Desiree Smith Arseneaux; loving grandfather to Tiffany, Chantelle, Candice, 
Paul, Dustin, Kayla, Amy and Megan; and great-grandfather of Parker, Greyson, 
Mason and Maddox. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorris Kaiser Smith; his mother, Julia 
Gardner Smith; and his father, Aaron Dodd Smith.

Age 88 years, he was a native of Liberty, MS and a resident of Harahan, LA. for 
the past 33 years. When he was in his early 20's and for the next 50 plus years, 
he lived abroad. He opened the original Rick's Cafˇ in Casablanca, Morocco. He 
served his country during World War II in the United States Navy.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend funeral services on Saturday, 
January 29, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the Chapel of E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 
West 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM on Saturday.

Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens, adjacent to the funeral 
home.
