Owensboro (Ky.) Messenger, 29 December 1940.
"Carrie Elizabeth Ward--Carrie Elizabeth Ward, two-year-old
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Ward, died at the home of her parents at
Reed Saturday afternoon [28 December 1940]. Surviving, in addition to the
parents are brother, Eugene, and a sister, Betty. Funeral services will be
conducted at 2 p.m. today at Mt. Zion church, in Henderson county. Burial
will be in the church cemetery."

"Funeral Today--Uniontown, Ky., May 13.--Miss Catherine F. Ward,
assistant postmaster at Uniontown since March 1, 1938, died Monday [12 May
1941] at the home of her mother, Mrs. Frank M. Ward. Death was attributed
to a heart attack.
"Surviving, besides the mother are two sisters, Miss Ann E. Ward,
of Uniontown, and Mrs. Eldon McGann, of Detroit, Mich., and two brothers,
Charles Ward, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and the Rev. Frank M. Ward, of
Whitesville.
"Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Agnes
Catholic church here, with the Rev. Paul E. Barrett in charge. Burial will
be in the St. Agnes cemetery."

"Catherine Shively Ward, 69, of 719 Clay St., Owensboro, died
Thursday, June 25, 1987, at Owensboro-Daviess County Hospital. She was born
in Daviess County and was a member of SS Joseph and Paul Catholic Church
and the Christian Mothers Association. Her daughter, Norma Westerfield,
died in 1984.
"Survivors include her husband, Dester Lee Ward; five sons, Donald
W., Ralph S., Stephen B. and David A. Ward, all of Owensboro, and Victor A.
Ward of Philpot; seven daughters, Mrs. Bernard (Judy) Hardesty, Mrs. John
(Esther) Blandford, Ms. Ann Denise Ward, Mrs. Don (Veatrice) Clark, all of
Owensboro, Mrs. Phil (Wanda) Rickard of Bremen, Mrs. Thomas (Millie) Hines
of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Mrs. Phil (Harriet) Thomas of Louisville; 25
grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren a
brother, Clifton Shively of Owensboro; and four sisters, Mrs. Arnold
Howard, Mrs. Lester Coomes and Mrs. Linus Mills, all of Whitesville, and
Mrs. Bernadine Shively of Owensboro.
"Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic
Church, Whitesville. Burial in the church cemetery. Visitation after 4 p.m.
today at Cecil Funeral Home, Whitesville, where prayers will be said at 7
p.m."

"Maceo--Cecil Sylvester Ward, 65, of 9117 Aubrey Road, Maceo, died
Thursday, Nov. 18, 1993, at Mercy Hospital in Owensboro. He was born in
Garrard County, the son of the late Ernest and Bessie Phelps Ward of
Louisville. He was a carpenter and co-owner of the former Delcey's Cafe in
Maceo, and was a member of Relevant Faith Full Gospel Church. He was
preceded in death by a sister, Hazel L. Chinn, and a brother, Hansel Ward.
"Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Ardella Reynolds Ward of
Maceo; two sons, Cecil E. Ward and John E. Ward, both of Owensboro; three
daughters, Mrs. James A. (Lois) Perry Sr. of Maceo, Mrs. Frank S. (Glenda)
Dowell Jr. of Owensboro and Mrs. Michael J. (Connie) Clifford of Loughman,
Fla.; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Chester
Ward of New Washington, Ind., and Leon Ward of Rineyville; and two sisters,
Evelyn Clark and Dorothy Logsdon, both of Louisville.
"Services are at 2 p.m. Monday at Haley-McGinnis Chapel, Owensboro.
Burial in Mount Zion Cemetery, Windy Hollow. Visitation from noon to 8:00
p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at Haley McGinnis Funeral

"Fordsville Man Dies When Truck Backs Over Him--A Fordsville man
was fatally injured about 4:45 p.m. Saturday [14 August 1965] when a truck
he was directing backed over him.
"Cecil William Ward, 54, was dead on arrival at the
Owensboro-Daviess County Hospital. Death was attributed to head and chest
injuries, according to Daviess County Deputy Coroner Fred Wahl.
"The accident occured about one mile east of Owensboro on U. S. 60,
near Daniels Lane when a truck driven by Ernest Eugene Depriest, 19, of 702
1/2 E. 4th St., ran over Ward.
"The two-ton truck, owned by River Sand and Gravel Co., was backing
up on the shoulder of the road to a rock spreader, and Ward was walking
toward the truck to give directions, according to investigating officer
Deputy Sheriff George Keown. Ward apparently looked away from the truck and
walked into it, Keown said, and the truck backed over him. Ward was
employed by State Contractors and Stone Co., doing construction work on
U.S. 60 east.
"He was born in Ohio County on Dec. 2, 1910, and was a member of
Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
"Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Geraldine Ward; two brothers,
Sylvester Ward, of Hartford, and Lorensa Ward of Benton Harbor, Mich.; one
sister, Miss Almedia Ward of Hartford.
"The body is at Phillips Funeral Home in Fordsville."

"Hartford--Charles Maxwell Ward, 63, formerly of Hartford, died at
5:40 p.m. Thursday [20 September 1962] at Mercy Hospital in Detroit, Mich.,
after an illness of several years. He was employed by the Chrysler Corp. He
was born in Hartford on Jan. 24, 1899, and lived in Detroit the past 15
years. He was a member of the No Creek Baptist Church.
"He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Anna Ward of Indianapolis, Ind.;
four sons, Charles of Omaha, Neb., Ed of Frankfort, Ted of New York City,
and the Rev. Robert Ward of Indianapolis; one sister, Mrs. Lena Harper of
Cincinnati, Ohio; two brothers, Wilson of Hartford and Louis of Cincinnati.
"Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the Birkhead
Funeral Home in Hartford with the Rev. Joe Travis, pastor of No Creek
Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Carson Cemetery."
"Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Saturday."

"Calhoun.--Word has been received in Calhoun of the death of
Chester D. Ward, Sr., 74, a native of McLean County, who died last week in
his home, 6395 SW 4th St., Miami, Fla. Mr. Ward claimed to be one of the
first electricians in McLean County.
"Surviving are his wife, two sons, C. D., Jr., and Wesley; four
daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Davis, Mrs. Isabel Ellington, Mrs. Martha Mills and
Mrs. Peggy Russell, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, all of
Miami.
"Funeral services and burial were in Miami."

"Beaver Dam.--Chester David Ward, 68, died in Our Lady of Mercy
Hospital at 8 a.m. [21 April 1958] Monday after a short illness. A native
of Ohio County, he was a member of the Goshen Methodist Church.
"Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lucy Ward, McHenry; three daughters,
Mrs. Conrad Givens, Beaver Dam, Mrs. Argyle Sandefer, of Owensboro, and
Mrs. James Kelley, of Clarksville, Ind.; one sister, Mrs. Leon Dempsey,
Evansville; one brother, Arrell B. Ward, of Centertown; three grandchildren
and three great grandchildren.
"Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the
Goshen Methodist Church by the Rev. James W. Averitt, of Louisville,
assisted by the Rev. Joe Bennett. Burial in the Sunnyside Cemetery,
Centertown.

a member of Mt. Herman United Methodist Church.
"Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mabel Ward; a son, Delton Ward of
Warren, Mich.; a daughter, Mrs. Carl Wells of Owensboro; a brother, Richard
Ward, Route 3, Hartford; three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren."

Calif., Craig Ward of Detroit, and Thomas E. Ward of East Detroit, Mich.;

"Cleveland Ward, 43 years old, died Thursday morning [1 May 1920]
at his home near Whitesville, of pneumonia. Surviving are the widow, Mrs.
Frankie Ward, five children, Marvadine, Willis, Robert, Dallas Limon and
James Randolph; two brothers, Delbert, of Philpot, and Ernest, of
Whitesville; three sisters, Mrs. Dora Whitaker, Philpot, Mrs. Gola Crisp,
Whitesville, and Mrs. Rue Lee Huff, Owensboro. Funeral services were held
at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon from the residence, with burial following in
the Cates cemetery at Whitesville."

was the wife of the retired head of the Buckeye Cotton Oil Co. and had been
ill for about three weeks prior to her death.
"Surviving besides her husband are two sisters, Mrs. Hosea Shown,
Hartford, Ky., and Mrs. Murray Isom, Birmingham, Ala.; two brothers, J. O.
Hickey, Toledo, Oh.,and B. A. Hickey, Central City, Ky., and several
nephews and nieces.
"Funeral services and burial were in Memphis."

"Mrs. Cora Ward--Hartford--Mrs. Cora Ward, 63, died at her home,
Route 1, Hartford, at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday [4 May 1946],
after an illness of one week.
"Survivors are the husband, Walter; two daughters, Mrs. C. C.
Moseley and Mrs. Boyd Greer, of Whiting Ind.; three sons John, Whiting,
Ind., Estill, Hammond, Ind. and Ezra, Dundee, Ky.; and several
grandchildren.
"Funeral services will be held at the Sugar Grove Baptist Church,
near Magan Station, at 2 p.m. today."

at Mercy Hospital in Owensboro. He was born in Bremen and was retired from
the Chrysler Corp of Detroit. A son, Paul Ward, died in 1989. A daughter,
Gail Ward, died in 1950.
"Survivors include a son, Lee A. Ward of Salina, Kan.; a daughter,
Nancy Ward Durocher of Atlanta; nine grandchildren; and two sisters, Bertha
Kirtley of Island and Lou Helen Stroud of Paducah.
"Services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore
Chapel. Burial in Worthingtons Chapel Cemetery in McLean County. Visitation
from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home."

home in the Whitesville community, were held at the Little Zion church, in
Ohio county, at 1:30 p.m. Monday, the Rev. William Edge officiating. Burial
was in the church cemetery. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Lula Wimsatt
Ward; three daughters, Mrs. James Sharp and Mrs. Audie Duke, of the
Whitesville community, and Mrs. Joseph O'Bryan, of Louisville; a son,
Marvin L. Ward, of the Whitesville section, and eight grandchildren."
