Patricia L. Weingand Bliss
 
HILLSBORO -- Patricia L. Weingand Bliss, 93, of Hillsboro passed away 1:10 
p.m. Wednesday (Aug. 27, 2003) in her home.
 
Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday in Oak Grove Cemetery, Hillsboro. 
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Friday in First Presbyterian Church, 
Hillsboro, with the Rev. Matthew Ferguson officiating. Hough & Sons Funeral 
Home, Hillsboro, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Hillsboro Area 
Health Foundation or First Presbyterian Church.
 
Mrs. Bliss was born May 22, 1910, in Hillsboro, the daughter of Andy E. and 
Agnes Clotfelter Weingand. She worked with her late husband Robert as owners 
of the Montgomery County Newspaper, mostly in bookkeeping. She was a graduate 
of Hillsboro High School Class of 1928 and attended Stephens College, 
Columbia, Mo. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Hillsboro 
Country Club, Delta Handa Bridge Club, Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce, Illinois 
Press Association, Southern Illinois Editorial Association, International 
Society of Weekly Newspaper Editors and former member of Hillsboro Hospital 
Auxiliary. She married Robert R. Bliss on June 30, 1934. He preceded her in 
death April 29, 2003.
 
Surviving are her daughters, Nancy Slepicka and husband Richard of Hillsboro; 
Betsy Bliss of San Francisco, Calif.; grandchildren, Christian Alexander Bliss 
Ach of San Francisco; Ekaterina Marie "Kate" Slepicka of Lexington, Ky.; Pavel 
Josef Slepicka of Virginia Beach, Va.; stepgrandchild, James P. Nichols III of 
Haywood, Calif.
 
She was preceded in death by her husband.
