Probate Court Records 

John Gabriel Jones (1801-1881), son of Joseph Jones,
served as guardian of Isaac Barnett, Maggy L. Barnett
and Robert R. Barnett (Jr?).  As I read through the
records, it was hard to tell for sure but I suspect the
Barnett's were children of Robert Barnett (1754-1827),
a RS and grandson of Humphrey Barnett who moved to
Wilkinson County from Cowpen, SC.  

Joseph Maddox' Book Historical Collections of Wilkinson
County listed Isaac Barnett as b. abt. 1800 to Robert
Barnett and lst wife, Sarah Love (1754-1807).   Isaac
Barnett m. Clarissa Clark.  


The probate records are: 9/1842 - John G. Jones, $5,000
secty bnd w/ Benjamin Exum, Ellis Harvill, guardian for
Isaac Barnet, orphn

10/1842 - John G. Jones, guardian for Barnet orphan,
makes return.

3/1843 - John G. Jones, grdn for Isaac Barnett (orphan)
summoned complaint of Burrell Hall, Lewis Spears.

3/1844 - John G. Jones loses Lewis Spears as Secrty as
grdn for Robert Barnet and Maggy L. Barnet. Jackson
Fountain is security in Spears' place.

6/1844 - John G. Jones, Barnet guardian, makes return.

9/1845 - John G. Jones makes return for Isaac Barnet,
orphan.

10/1845 - John G. Jones grdn satisfctrly dismissed
responsibility of Maggy L. Barnet, Ward of court.

1/1846 - John G. Jones, guardian for Robert Barnet,
Ward of Court, makes return

2/27/1846 - Gabriel makes retn. of $317.43 on Hyram's
estate.

2/1846 - John G. Jones, guardian for Isaac Barnet,
Orphan, permitted to sell  1/2 Negro man named Burrell.

7/1846 - John G. Jones, guardian for Robert. R Barnet,
Ward, on complaint of Robert R Barnet, ordered to Court
to show cause not to be removed as security or
strengthen position.

9/10/1846 - John G. Jones makes return of $326.75 as
Robert Barnet's (or Parrish?) Guardian; released as
guardian and replaced by James Jackson with $3000 bond

2/1847 - John G. Jones makes return as guardian for
Isaac Barnet, orphan.

Does anyone have knowledge of IF there was a tie
between the Jones and Robert or Isaac Barnett familes?
