The Butler Herald July 9, 1925
In the presence of few friends and relatives the wedding of Miss Ouida Drew 
Averett and Mr. Rufus O. Cannon took place Wednesday p.m. at 5 o'clock at the 
home of the bride's uncle Mr. J. S. Martin.
The house was artistically decorated, carrying out a color motif of pink and 
green. Preceding the ceremony Miss Lillian Brown wearing a lovely gown of 
yellow georgette with trimmings of silver lace, sang, "I Love You Truly", 
accompanied at the piano by her sister Miss Marie Brown, of Howard, who wore a 
beaded blonde georgette gown. Miss Brown also played the wedding march and 
during the ceremony rendered very softly, Constant Devotion.
Rev. A.C . Baker, pastor of the Tabernacle Baptist Church, performed the 
impressive ring ceremony, and immediately preceding the bride and groom the 
ring bearer little Miss Ida Martin entered, carrying the ring on the heart of 
a white carnation.
The bride and groom entered together. She wore a becoming gown of midnight 
blue flat crepe with accessories of blonde and carried a boquet of white 
carnations.
The bride is the popular daughter fo Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Averett, of Howard, 
and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. I. C. Cannon of Parrott.
Immediately after the wedding the bride and groom left on a motor trip to 
points of interest in Florida and on their return will be at home at 759 
Second St., Macon, Ga.
The out of town guests present at the wedding were: Mr. and Mrs. J C Cannon, 
Mr. Autrie Canon, of Parrott, Mrs. G. W. Averett, Miss Mary Lou Averett, Mr. 
and Mrs J H Brown, Mr and Mrs L B Brown, Mr and Mrs O O Brown, Mr. Carl Brown, 
Mr. and Mrs R L Brown, Misses Lillian and MArie Brown, and Mrs W. C. Childs, 
all of Howard. Mr. and MRs. E H Martin, Mr. Herbert Martin, and Miss Daisy 
Martin of Atlanta.
