State of Georgia       :
Oglethorpe County      : by nature of an order from the Honorable Inferior 
Court of said county when sitting for Ordinary purposes on the second Monday
of January 1848 to us directed Authorized and Requiring us to make a 
division of the Negro property in the hands of Samuel Glenn as the Executor
of Robert Haynes dec'd belonging to Robert R. Haynes a minor child of said
dec'd represented in this proceeding by his guardian John C. Smith & 
belonging also to John C. Smith in right of his wife Penelope P., formerly 
Penelope P. Haynes, another child of said deceased.  These two children 
being the only persons claiming said Negroes.  We divided said Negroes into
two shares numbered 1 & 2, and these shares were assigned to the said 
distributees or heir in the following manner, to wit: The names of the 
Negroes of Lot No. 1 and also the Negroes of Lot No. 2 were written on a 
piece of paper each but on a separate piece and put into a hat.  John C. 
Smith in right of his wife drew first & drew No.2 consisting of Anthony, 
Jack, Will, Stephen, Ned, Little Jack, Clark, Marian & her two children, 
Malinda & child Charlotte, Ellen and her five children, Robert, Dilsey, 
Ann, & Martha, & Lena Valued at Eighty three hundred & sixty dollars.

Lot No.2 was drawn out of the hat by Robert R. Haynes & consists of 
Maryland, Henry, Warren, Boston, Solomon, Patrick, Kitt, Abraham (unsound) 
Nan & her child Charity, Amanda & Patsey, Tam___, & her two children Sarah 
and Webster, Catherine, Mary Ann, Mahala, Isaac & Milly, Valued at eighty 
three hundred & three, 8303.  So that Lot No.1 Receives from Lot No.2 
fifty seven dollars all which is Respectfully submitted this the 10th 
January 1848.
