ACWORTH

On Sunday morning our community was shocked and saddened by the death of Rev H A
FURGERSON. He had only been in Acworth for a few weeks, having just been called
to serve the Presbyterian church at this place. He was only 27 years of age and
was just entering what promised to be a life of great usefulness, being endowed
with a vigorous intellect and force of character, he was fast making his mark in
the world. His remains were sent to Jonesboro, Tenn., for interment. He leaves
a devoted young wife with a babe in her arms to mourn his loss.

Cecil C PHILLIPS, the little one year old son of Mr and Mrs M M PHILLIPS, died
Sunday morning.

Mrs Mary P SMITH, wife of Rev Nathan SMITH, died on Monday night. She was one
of the oldest citizens of Acworth, and leaves a great number of children,
grandchildren and great grand children, who all love and honor her for her
goodness of heart.

Mr O C COWEN and bride, nee Miss Mary Lee McMILLAN, have been visiting friends
and relatives here for the past week. Mrs COWEN is a general favorite in our
town and will always be welcomed by a large circle of friends, whenever she
visits her old home.

The Acworth High School opened up with a full attendance and this bids fair to
be one of the most prosperous years in existence.

On Wednesday morning January 27th at the residence of the bride's sister in
Danville, Ky., Mr R L McMILLAN of Acworth and Miss Marie KNOX of the former
place were married, Rev J P McMILLAN of Burkesville, Ky., officiating. The
bride is a lady of many excellent traits of mind and heart. She has visited
Acworth several times and her many friends here are glad to welcome her. On
their return from Danville, an elegant reception was given them at the residence
of the groom's brother, Mr J W McMILLAN. They received an unusual large number
of beautiful and costly presents.
