     Wednesday, April 11, 2001.
        A native of Jackson County, Mr. Watson was a son of the late
     Claude Watson and Lillie Mae Gee Watson. He was a retired poultry
     farmer for Joe Elrod and was of the Baptist faith.
        Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Jackson Funeral Home,
     Jefferson, with the Rev. Johnny Knight officiating. Burial will be
     in Pond Fork Baptist Church Cemetery.
        Survivors include two sisters, Clara Mangum, Pendergrass, and
     Doris Turner, Jefferson; a brother, J.C. Watson, Pendergrass;

        Beth Johnson, 31, died Wednesday, April 11, 2001.
        A native of New York, Mrs. Johnson was a daughter of Robert and
     Hilde Johnson. She graduated from Union Endicott High School,
     Endicott, N.Y. in 1987. She attended New Paltz S.U.N.Y., Southern
     Illinois University, Carbondale, Ill., and was working on her Ph.D.
     in linguistics at the University of Georgia. She was a member of
     Trinity Lutheran Church, Lilburn.
        Memorial services will be at 5:30 p.m. today at Trinity Lutheran
     Church, Lilburn, with the Rev. Dale A. Silik officiating.
        Survivors, in addition to her parents, include her husband,
     Keith Badowski; a sister, Karen Pullano, Endicott, N.Y.; and a
     brother, Erik Johnson, Endicott, N.Y.
        The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service
     with a reception following the service at the church.
        In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a homeless shelter
     or food bank of one's choice.

        A native of Gwinnett County, Mrs. Wood was a daughter of the
     late L.P. and Lena Maddox Osborne and was the widow of Claude James
     LeCroy and Dorsey Wood. She was a homemaker and was a member of
     Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She was a member of the Dorcas Sunday
     School class and was active in the Lines Ladies Club.
        Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Hill Baptist
     Church with Dr. Doug Ferguson, Dr. Billy Owensby and the Rev. Bill
     Stacey officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
        Survivors include a daughter, Geraldine Dean, Martin; two sons,
     Frances LeCroy, Toccoa, and Jimmy LeCroy, Lavonia; four

     Building and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of
     Winder. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #333 and was a shriner.

     the Revs. John Burchfield and Terry Tippen officiating. The body
     will be placed in the chapel at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Barrow
     Memorial Gardens.

     Bobby Wiley, Winder; a sister, Mary Ellen Rowden, Fort Myers Beach,

        Elmer Lee Whiten Jr., formerly of Toccoa, died Monday, April 9,
     2001.
        A native of Stephens County, Mr. Whiten was a son of the late
     Elmer and Maggie Whiten. He graduated from Eastanollee High School,
     received a BA from Mercer University, Macon, his masters of
     religious education and a graduate specialist in social work from
     Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Ky. He received
     a Ph.D. in counseling psychology from Carolina University of
     Theology, South Carolina. He served as pastor of several churches
     in Georgia for 18 years before moving to Oregon. He served as
     director of Christian Social Ministries at N.W. Baptist Convention
     until his retirement in 1992. He was president of Oregon Council on
     Alcohol Problems for 10 years and had worked with International
     Lifeliners Association, ministering to prison inmates and their
     families. He was the founder and executive director of Camp Hope
     N.W., a camp for children of prison inmates. He also served on the
     board of S.A.F.E. Ministries.
        Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Willamette National
     Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at
     the N.W. Baptist Convention, Vancouver, Wash.
        Survivors include his wife, J. Quilla Whiten; a son, Mark
     Whiten, Peoria, Ariz.; a sister, Doris Brady, Toccoa; and three
     grandsons.
        Memorials may be made to Camp Hope N.W., in care of Greater
     Gresham Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1888, Gresham, Oregon, 97030.

        Edith Clements Morrow, age 76, of Athens, Georgia, formerly of
     Hahira, Ga., died April 11, 2001 at the Athens Regional Medical
     Center in Athens after a long illness.
        She was the daughter of the late Sidney Lee Clements and the
     late Alice Wynn Harris, both of Charlottesville, Albemarle County,
     Virginia. Mrs. Morrow was educated in the Albemarle County Public
     Schools and was a graduate of McIntire High School in
     Charlottesville, Virginia. She attended and was a graduate of the
     Maryland General Hospital School of Nursing in Baltimore, Maryland.
     She practiced as a registered nurse for a number of years and was
     employed variously at the Maryland General Hospital, the University
     of Virginia Hospitals, Charlottesville, Virginia; Smith Hospital
     and Nursing Home, Hahira, Georgia; Saint Joseph's Hospital,
     Augusta, Georgia; and the Georgia Department of Public Health.
        Mrs. Morrow was preceded in death by her husband, John Gordon
     Morrow, Jr., M.D., of Hahira, Georgia.
        Mrs. Morrow is survived by her son, John Gordon Morrow III, M.D.
     of Atlanta, Georgia; her daughter, Laura Alice Morrow of
     Charlottesville, Virginia; grandchildren, Sarah, Theresa and
     Catherine Morrow of Atlanta, Melissa and Jon Weaver of Portland,
     Oregon; one sister, Inez Clements Rodgers of Charlottesville,
     Virginia; and friend, Jesse Calvin Watts of Athens, Georgia; many
     nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
        A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 14, 2001, 2:00

                            Annie Smith Padgett
                                   Hull 
                                      
        Annie Smith Padgett, 74, of 693 Piedmont Road, Hull, GA.,
     formerly of 175 Dublin Street, Athens, GA., died April 9, 2001.
        A native of Clarke County, Mrs. Padgett was the daughter of the
     late Susie Smith Prather. She was preceded in death by two sons,
     Ernest Lee Padgett and Robert Louis Padgett and a grandson, Richard
     Stazione. Mrs. Padgett was retired from Central Soya in Athens
     after 38 years of service. She was of the Baptist faith as well as
     a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, East. She attended the Great
     American Temple prior to her death.
        Services will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Gardenview Funeral
     Chapel with the Rev. Mark Weaver officiating. Burial will be in
     Spaulding Cemetery. The body will be placed in the chapel at 1:00
     p.m.
        Mrs. Padgett leaves in passing three sons and daughters-in-law,
     Chester (Evelyn) Padgett, Wichita, KS; David (Mary) Padgett,
     Athens, GA; and Anthony Padgett, Athens, GA; two daughters and
     son-in-law, Beverly Padgett (Harry) Wilson, Hull, GA; and Angela
     Padgett, Athens, GA; one sister, Maggie Perry, Chicago, IL; six
     grandchildren, Shanna (Cedrick) Christopher, Jeffrey (Antoinette)
     Davenport, Breanna Padgett, all of Athens, GA, Cedric Padgett,
     Madison, GA, Donna Dalton and Tracy Rothwell, both of Wichita, KS;
     nine great-grandchildren, Kira Billups, Deja Davenport, Iyianna
     Burdette, Christopher Davenport, Richard Stanzione, Jr., Paul
     Smith, Melissa and Daniel Dalton, and Jason Doyle; one
     great-great-grandson, Jason Doyle, Jr.; and a host of friends and
     relatives.
        The family is at the residence of Harry and Beverly Padgett
     Wilson, 693 Piedmont Road, Hull, GA.
        The family will receive visitors at Gardenview Funeral Chapel
     today from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
        Gardenview Funeral Chapel has charge of arrangements.

                             Christopher Poole
                             Nashville, Tenn. 
                                      
        Christopher Ryan Poole, 23, died Wednesday, April 11, 2001.
        A native of Statesboro, Mr. Poole was a son of Robert Poole,
     Athens, and Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Riggs, Lawrenceville. He attended
     Statesboro High School. He moved to Nashville in 1996 to pursue his
     love of music. He was associated with Great Impressions Printing
     Company.
        Services will be at 4 p.m. today at Belmont Church, Nashville,
     Tenn., with the Rev. Charles Newman officiating. Graveside services
     and internment will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 14, 2001 at
     Oconee Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Gene Britton officiating.
        Survivors, in addition to his parents, include two children,
     Jordan Poole and Ella Poole, and their mother, Doris Graves of
     Nashville, Tenn.; his devoted companion, Brenda Bagull of
     Nashville, Tenn.; a brother and sister-in-law, Eric and Tavala
     Poole of Lawrenceville; three stepbrothers, Christopher Howard,
     Courtland Howard and Carter Howard, all of Athens; grandparents,
     Mr. and Mrs. Robert R. Poole, Sr. of Louisville, Ga. and Earl and
     Patsy Sweikhart of Punta Gorda, Fla.; a number of aunts, uncles and
     friends from Nashville and Statesboro.
        The family will receive friends at Belmont Church today, from
     2:00 until 4:00 p.m.
        Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, East, is in charge of
     arrangements.
